Reviews for St Ignace Marina
Still fun town!, 2017-07-18
Captain: , Montague, MI (200)

We have been here several years ago and stopped back with friends from New York. We had a lot of fun in town checking out the shops again, getting pizza from BC Pizza (which is really good!) and watching fireworks on a Saturday night. They shoot them off right in the bay next to the marina so they are close and fun to watch.

Fueling station for the Upper Lakes, 2016-09-04
Captain: , Big Torch Key, FL (1978)

Great harbor that normally always has space for transients. Full facilites that any boater needs. Other than internet. The Wi-Fi has not worked well all year.

Great Stop to go to Mackinac Isl, 2016-08-12
Captain: , Portsmouth (553)

We stopped here and took the ferry to Mackinac Island. The marina is clean and updated. The staff were friendly. We rode bikes to Castle Rock, about 3 miles away and went to the Casino for a demolition derby, great fun. We went to a free movie in the park next to the marina. The town seems to have something going on all summer long. Take some Tim and enjoy this stop.

Excellent marina and staff, 2016-07-26
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2870)

We could not have been happier with our stay here. Taking the ferry to Mackinac was a great idea compared with the horror stories of all the ferry wakes. Biking and walking around town was fun and scenic.

Not friendly for trailer boaters, 2016-07-10
Captain: , Muskegon MI (60)

Nice clean facilities, crazy long docks though. No designated legal place to park your vehicle and trailer, made for a hectic night of arival. Staff was great, and did all they could. Some wake from ferries, but for the area, that is expected. Would love to visit again without a truck and trailer.

Another great Michigan Marina, 2016-06-27
Captain: , La Crosse, WI (941)

Nice clean facility. Friendly helpful staff. We were there during the car show weekend. A little noisy but a great car show. The party boats were too close to us but they did quiet down in the evenings.

Always a Good Stop, 2015-09-08
Captain: , Milwaukee, WI (358)

Friendly, helpful staff when either refueling or spending the night. Tight quarters for maneuvering, but pretty well protected.

Nearby are a few restaurants and shops... groceries are now to the SW of the marina rather than to the N as in previous years. A short walk to the ferries to Mackinac Island if you wish to go there.

Nice stop, excellent new Marina, 2015-08-26
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1804)

Good small town Marina, well protected harbor, large easy to enter fuel dock. City has several restaurants, good biking and walking. Safe area. Good staff.

Great Marina, 2015-08-15
Captain: , Beverly, MA (1242)

The breaker rip/rap is high and keeps out the wakes and reduces the wind. Fuel is the cheapest around. They hold many special events at the marina thru out the season to include Music festivals, and one of the largest car displays in the USA. The town is a short walk, Supermarket a little further down the road (about a mile) dont worry the walk back is all down hill. Several good resturants near by.

Fuel Price Did NOT jump 60 cents in 3 days, 2015-08-12
Captain: , St. Ignace (20)

I would like to know why you posted that the St.Ignace Marina jumped their fuel prices 60 cents over the Chicago Yacht Race. I am the Fuel Dock Supervisor and this DID NOT happen...I am the one that adjusts theprice up and down and this was NOT the case so please do not decieve other boaters. We continue to be competitive and go by what we have to pay to our fuel distributor and there was no way this happened..To all other boaters out there we will continue to be competitive and offer the best service and best fuel in the area

Funny business with the fuel prices!?, 2015-07-17
Captain: , Bloomington, IN (176)

They jumped their fuel price 60 cents/gal in just three days, from 7/12/15 to 7/15/15!!! Fuel prices on the street were stable during this period. See the history of fuel price posts under "fuel" tab. No doubt due to the fact that the Chicago - Mac race was in town that weekend! On an 80 gal fillup, that hurts!

Super Courteous Staff, 2015-07-14
Captain: , Hilton Head, SC (1234)

Fueled up, pumped out at the easy to approach fuel dock w/at least 13ft and plenty of turning room. Dockhands were extremely courteous and friendly. There's a NAPA in walking distance to the north if you need oil. The Pasty's at B&L Diner were great. The Gangplank restaurant just across the street was also a pleasant suprise.

Great alternative to staying on Mackinac Island, 2014-09-09
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach, FL (361)

Very nice marina. Close to ferry dock to Mackinac Island.
A little tricky coming in, I was confused with the ferry dock. There is a lot of ferry traffic and ther are very agressive.
We enjoyed a pleasant stay here.

Good marina nice docks, 2014-08-13
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1997)

A nice marina with large size slips. We used their pump out which worked very well.
The staff were very helpful and pleasant.
The grocery store was well stocked and not too far of a hike.
Enjoyed the board walk main negative was there are no laundry facilities on site and the local laundromat was expensive at $2.75 a wash cycle and 25c per 5 min dry cycle.
There is some swell from the local ferry but not to bad.

Well maintained facility, close to town, Mackinaw Isl. ferries, 2014-08-11
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (7374)

Docks, restrooms/showers all well maintained and clean. Helpful dock staff. Marina is right in town close to restaurants, shopping. IGA closed July 2014 but another grocery store is not too far south. Easy access to Mackinaw Island ferries.

Pleasant Visit, 2014-08-11
Captain: , Elk Rapids (130)

Stopped in for a night on Aug 9. Helpful staff, dockhand met us at the dock to help us in. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Showers were clean with plastic curtains rather than actual doors like we prefer.

Docks were in great shape with easy in and out of the boat.

Good restaurants nearby and shops close to marina.

Gas .45/gal more than we paid the day before in Elk Rapids.

Great place to visit Mackinac Island, 2014-08-04
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (949)

Large modern, clean marina. Friendly and helpfull staff. Restaurants close by as well as the ferry to Mackinac Island.

Great Port, 2014-08-03
Captain: , Traverse City (20)

Great marina. Excellent, clean nice staff. Stayed two nights and we will make it a point to put in here again. Ran into old cruising friends and met new ones. Town isn't big but its nice. We have met lots of people here and the locals really go out of their way for you.
If you are ever here, make sure you stop into The Gangplank. We only wanted a soda as we walked by (its a little out doors eatery) but the food looked so good we decided to split a burger between us. Homemade fries! Went back the next day for lunch. Everything seems homemade and very good. best burger we've had in years. try this place!

Good stop for repairs, 2013-10-16
Captain: , Cedar Point, Sandusky, OH (400)

We had an anchor problem, called the marina and they put us in touch with Jim Gill (906-298-0334), who is a mecanic and elictrical person who can fix anything. He replaced our anchor (overnighted from Defender), after spending all day Sat & Sunday trying to replace just the motor.

The town is delightful, dont miss the hamburgers at Bently's, the BEST! And buy some fudge.

Great maria, 2013-08-22
Captain: , Patrick AFB Florida (1254)

This is one of the cleanest and user-friendly marinas we've encountered so far this summer. Can think of only one other that compares. Staff is great, heads are as clean as you'll find anywhere (and they're not all that far from the furthest slip), and it's right in the heart of town with restaurants and lots of ice cream and fudge. Shopping at the closest market (Doud's) is iffy, but the one to the south and up the hill about 1 mile is just about as good as it gets anywhere. Use one of the marina's courtesy bikes to get there and it's about a 6-7 minute ride. If you really need to resupply, don't bother with the little market to the north.

Best (and biggest) ice cream is at Molly Moos about 1 mile to the north. Take the board walk and enjoy the view of the harbor on the way and you'll be taken right to Molly Moos just past the Ojibwa Museum.

Rate is $1.50 per foot per night. No deals except by the month.

Saint Ignace Marina, 2013-08-08
Captain: , Grand Haven, MI (674)

The Admiral still thinks that it is a long walk to the bath house. But, once you get there they are clean and up to date. St. Ignace offers resturants, groceries, auto parts stores. No Marine store, however Ace hardware, adjacent to the marina, has some parts and were able to come up with solutions to what our needs were. If they don't have it there is a True Value Hdw a couple of blocks to the south. There is a Vet a block away for those traveling with pets, and a pharmacy across the street for people.
My suggestion is if you want the Mackinac Island experiance go there once then move on to St. Ignace and if you still want to explore the island the Arnold Line has a "Classic" (slow) boat ticket for adults $15.00 round trip.
The marina will rock some from the surge of Mackinac Ferrys. Floating docks are stable.

Very nice marina, 2013-06-16
Captain: , escanaba, mi (283)

Well kept docks and grounds. Helpful staff and easy to get in and out. Close to resturants and not to far for grocerys.

Marina Under New Supervisors, 2013-03-21
Captain: , St. Ignace (17)

The St. Ignace Marina is under new leadership with Tim Matelski as the new Marina Director and Kevin Campbell as the new Asst Marina Director/Fuel Operations Supervisor....
The St. Ignace Marina is currently striving to be the fueling spot for the Straits of Mackinac with the lowest fueling prices around including areas far away from us. Stop by and see for yourself that the St. Ignace Marina is the prime spot to relax, enjoy music on the docks on Tues and Wed and fireworks every Saturday from July 4th- Labor Day that you can see right from your boats.
Come visit us and see why the St. Ignace Marina is the marina of choice for boaters paradise.
The St. Ignace Marina has been approved for dredging during the month of April 2013 and will be completed by the opening of the Marina for the 2013 boating season.
Areas that will be dredged will be from land to "System A"..."System A to System B"...and also the fuel dock area.
Boaters that had a hard time with dockage due to low depths during 2012 will no longer have any problems after the dredging is complete...We welcome everyone back again for the 2013 Boating Season and look forward to seeing you all

Great location and in the UP!, 2013-03-20
Captain: , Sault Ste Marie, MI (240)

We stayed here twice in August 2012. The floating docks are in great condition and there was plenty of water where we were on C dock. The Friday concerts were enjoyable as were the fireworks displays. The restroom/shower facility was new looking and was kept spotless. Fuel prices were less than we had experienced elsewhere. Great location to head north to the Soo locks or east to Georgian Bay.

Very Nice Marina, 2012-10-04
Captain: , Conway (145)

Very nice marina, easy access, the local Ferries cause a lot of Wake in the area. Close to downtown, shopping etc. One negative comment, the marina manager was complaining about two transient guests to me. (now I wonder what he is saying about me?). I will return here.

Nice, good fuel price, 2012-09-23
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

Real nice marina, fueled only on 9-22-11 diesel was $3.80 good price.
Gary Miller Lady Barbara

Stayed again on 9-19-12 & 9-20-12 diesel was $4.099 gal.

St Ignace has history, 2012-08-26
Captain: , Bay City (40)

This is a great marina with good, younger, staff. They weren't quite sure how to help us dock in the hign winds, but it worked out fine. There are two historical museums in town that are interesting to visit, we've enjoyed them a couple times now. St Ignace really puts forth effort; beautiful perinial flowers along the main drag, several nice restaurants (planked white fish is the meal). Even a short fire works display on Saturday night in the summer was great! Easy access from the channel, and from Main Street!

Great stop on way to or from the channel, 2012-08-14
Captain: , Milwaukee Yacht Club (90)

Nice staff and great fuel prices for the area. Its a good place to pick up last minute items for your trip to the channel. We walked over to the ferry to Mackinaw to visit the island without the large wakes etc you'd get if you take your own boat.

great stop - cheapest fuel around, 2012-08-13
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (4187)

Pulled in and ended up staying 4 nights because of the strong winds. Laundry faciilities in main building. Staff is polite and courteous. Fuel is cheap here. Great stop because you can walk to lots of things in town - 2 hardware stores, post office, restaurants, ice cream shops, etc. Doud's Grocery store is a longer walk BUT they brought us back to the marina which was better so we could buy all the heavy stuff and not have to carry it. Bakery inside the market is great. Murdick's fudge here is half the price as is on Marckinac Island.
Best deal for ferry to Mackinac - Take the ARNOLD LINE just north of the marina. Buy tickets for the OTTAWA, the slower boat, at $14/person. This saved us $20 for two people but you can ride the high speed catamaran back. Ottawa is only about 15 minutes longer than the catamaran anyway. It was a nice ride.

Good alternative to Mackinac Island, 2012-08-02
Captain: , Clearwater, FL (150)

Pulled in here to fuel up (3.79 for diesel on 7/30) and stayed for 2 nights. Jim, Asst. Harbormaster was helpful on where to go in town and deckhands were there to help with lines. Well protected from ferry traffic outside. Douds Market 10 minute walk up the street.

Bought fuel here, 2012-07-19
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1448)

Stopped here for fuel and a pump out. Diesel was 30 cents per gallon less than Mackinaw City. Marina is behind breakwater and is well protected from almost but not all directions.

Music on main street, 2012-03-01
Captain: , Olcott, NY (2536)

Nice marina, clean, long walk to pier head, Internet on dock and we by chance landed during a music festival, awesome fun!

quiet area, 2011-11-03
Captain: , Newport, R.I. (644)

Groceries near by and calm safe marina.

Beautiful clean marina, 2011-08-21
Captain: , Mystic, CT (382)

Restrooms were exceptionlly clean. Easy walk to Mackinac Island Ferry. Many restaurants within walking distance. Ace Hardware just outside of the marina. Docks are wide and fairly new. Free wifi accessable from the slip. Water in the harbor was crystal clear.

Nice regue from weather, 2011-08-14
Captain: , Murfreesboro, TN (360)

St. Ignace was a clean and friendly refuge from the bad weather on Lake Huron. We spent 2 days there and found the staff to be friendly, and helpful. Grocery store nearby had the best little bakery and there was a wonderful fireworks show Saturday night.

better michigan muni docks, 2011-08-10
Captain: , Detroit (720)

big place, underused, compared to on the Mackinaw side. pretty well updated.

Big, Clean, quiet marina, 2011-08-06
Captain: , Marthas Vineyard (506)

This was the quietest marina we've ever been in, loved it. Couple of blocks to a good grocery, and some interesting indian museums; ferry service nearby to Mackinac island. Michigan is going a great job with their municipal marina systems and the rates are very reasonable. Great washrooms with laundry.

Nice marina, 2011-08-05
Captain: , Sarnia (141)

Great up to date marina and a great option especially if you wish to avoid the very touristy Mackinaw city. Diesel pricing very competitive to those in Mackinaw city.

Great stopover for the area, 2011-07-17
Captain: , Lake in The Hills, Illinois (542)

The marina is greatly underutilized for the location. We found the docks in great shape and the staff friendly. They are a little understaffed so call ahead for assistance. The price to value was excellent. The town is very close by with activities right at the marina, Wednesday , Thursday and Saturday.

Nice marina Bad karma, 2011-06-27
Captain: , Marquette MI (10)

Nice marina bad karma. We docked for an hour and a half for a grocery store run and was charged $20.00 tie up fee. Will not stop there again for supplies.

myboatfruiton, 2011-04-01
Captain: , Hammond Bay (1841)

Outstanding marina with excellent staff. Docks and facilities are excellent. The showers and restrooms are very clean. Located right
in town and near retail services.

St. Ignace Marina, 2011-03-09
Captain: , Macataw, MI (435)

The new marina is very nice and the town (a throwback to the 50's) has some great restaurants. Construction was going on the last time i was there and things were really dirty overnight.

Graet town, great marina, great people, 2011-01-09
Captain: , Toronto, ON (1763)

We really enjoyed this little town. Lots of history, fun things to do and not as expensive and annoying as Mac City. The marina was gorgeous and the folks friendly, one of the local boaters loaned us their van so we could go to the Grocery Store to reprovision!

Excellent marina, 2010-08-19
Captain: , St. Joseph, MI (814)

Good docks, good facilities, good protection, close to town, reasonable price.

Friendly St. Ignace, 2009-03-21
Captain: , Waukegan, IL. (50)

This brand new ,beautifully maintained marina is a wonder. From the professional management of HarborMaster Jeff Davenport to the always on duty Gene Elmer ( representing the City of St. Ignace)--this is the perfect stopping off place on your way to and from the North Channel. We find it easier to go the "The Island" from St Ignace than staying on the island itself.

First class slips and facilities. Jodi M considers it a "second home"

St. Ignace Marina, 2009-02-28

Letitia - St. Ingace, 2007-04-20
Captain: , Austin, Tx (1257)

We really enjoyed St. Ignace. Ferry boats for Mackinac Island dock here. I was so impressed by being able to see the bottom of the marina - 18ft below as clear as a swimming pool (well, almost)
