Reviews for Spring Point Marina
Terrific stopover, 2016-09-04
Captain: , Portsmouth, NH (10)

Spent two nights at Spring Point over Labor Day. Dock master Peter and his crew were great--helpful, friendly, highly competent.

Management response:
Thank you very much for the great review. We hope to see you next year. Have a great fall!!

awesome Marina!, 2016-08-16
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, FL (60)

We stayed at Demillos first & hated it!! Spring Pt is not downtown but their facilities are great!! And it's quieter, not as rocky-rolly. Great dock hands!! Courtesy car available to get anything you need. We really enjoyed our stay here!! If you have a dog, there's a great trail for walking or a huge field just outside Marina - much better than downtown!!

Spring Point Marina - Simply Awesome, 2016-07-21
Captain: , Newburyport, MA (40)

Pulled in on a Sunday with an electrical problem that prohibited my return to Newburyport. DockMaster Pete and his team set me up in a transient slip, where I ended up staying for 3 nights. As friendly and helpful as they where, I would have stayed all week had I been able! Nice view from the transient slips, good Internet, laundry, power, fresh water - even a loaner car was made available to me. Made some friends amongst the slip holders on the dock to boot! As for fuel, I'll never go anyplace else in Portland. Approach was super easy, tones of large bumpers, helpful dock hands and 24/7 availability.

Port Harbor Marine serviced the boat. What can I say - they were awesome as well. One can expect litle as a transiet with engine problems. Yet, they had someone on my boat within 30 minutes of my approaching the service desk. Frank and Mike diagnosed the problem right away and had the boat running like new in short order, and at a reasonable cost! They even checked in on me following the repairs. I've never had a better service experiance with any boat I've owned.

Management response:
Thank you very much for the kind words. The crew enjoyed working with you. Please come again.

Even provided their own fenders, 2016-06-16
Captain: , San Antonio, TX (40)

Agree with earlier reviews regarding the helpful marina staff. Peter, the dock master, along with is crew was most helpful and someone came by at the end of their shift to check to see if we needed anything. They provided us with extra fenders as we were on the face dock which did roll. That's a first. Courtesy car also available.

Extraordinarily HELPFUL, SKILLED service staff!, 2015-07-29
Captain: , Glen Cove, NY (281)

This marina is in SOUTH PORTLAND, far from downtown or waterfront in Portland proper. (A big Plus in our view as we Dislike the Portland waterfront scene and the facilities located there) Spring Point Marina is part of a municipal complex and is primarily seasonal slip holders with small to mid size power boats. Transients are assigned vacant seasonal slips, if available, or space on huge outside face dock. Only problem being on face dock is no attenuating barrier in event of incoming swell/wake. Another potential drawback is the sheer size of the facility can present one with a walk of >600 YDS. from boat to dock head/parking lot. NOTWITHSTANDING the forgoing, if you want EXCELLENT DOCK HANDS, HELPFUL SERVICE STAFF, REASONABLE TRANSIENT RATES, OPEN SPACES, PLEASANT ENVIRONMENT and don't object to being away from "the action"; THIS IS BEST MARINA IN THE AREA!

Clean, Helpful dockhands, good berth for the night, 2015-07-29
Captain: , Maine (639)

Pulled in to this marina based of other reviews on AC and was not dissapointed. Clear VHF instructions to meet a dockhand in a red shirt at the face dock who will lead us to our slip was sport on. The dockhand was skillfull and friendly. As he promised, about 30 mins after tie up he appeared with a 50 amp to 30 amp converter, as mine had hidden iiself the lazzerete. A short taxi ride to Grace restaurant a fabulous placre in Portland and we felt well at home. Resturant on the premises was lively and nice.
Let's face it Portland is rolly wherever you are. This is better than most.

Well Managed , 2015-06-13
Captain: , Bremen (20)

We stayed there on our way to and from Boston . The entire staff was wonderful . Pete the dock master was amazing and the boating residents were most friendly .Spring point is now our go to place when we are in the area .

Great staff bad swell, 2015-06-06
Captain: , Fort lauderdale (10)

Everything was great. The dockmaster was extremely helpful. Fuel prices are good. The swell that comes in is annoying but not dangerous.

unplanned stop, 2015-05-07
Captain: , Augusta, Maine (245)

Moving our boat up from Wells to Georgetown and had fueling issues. 6 to 8 foot seas and a very long day on the water. Only made it to South Portland by nightfall and pulled up to Springpoints fuel dock, tied up and told the dockhand I needed a slip for the night. He suggested I just tie up forward on the fuel dock and where it was early season and we had a rough day he called the office and they let us stay for free. Even told us to go ahead and hook up to shore power. This same dockhand came strolling down the dock the next morning( on his day off by the way) to make sure We were ok to continue on our trip and to see if there was anything more he could do to assist us. Also Port Harbor marine sells the mercruiser fuel filters cheaper than Walmart and the staff there was just beyond helpfull even right at closing time. Just great people and a great place all around

Limited choices in Portland, 2014-11-27
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (340)

Not really a fan of Spring Point because of where they put us - marina is 100% full in 2014, so transients go on their outside face dock. It can be seriously rough due to LOTS of traffic off the point. It does calm down some at night, but starts again EARLY when fishermen head out.

Good side: Nice facility, good staff, good showers, convenient to Portland (we had a car, which was great). And Portland is REALLY a fun city if you like to walk, shop, eat and drink....

It's in the details, 2014-09-22
Captain: , Quantico VA - Amelia FL (644)

Whenever I come into a marina (which is not often these days) the first thing I like to see is a dock crew ready to help. First impression, I'm there two minutes after opening and when I make the call two guys are trotting down the dock to meet me as I land. The fuel dock, clearly marked on the right side of the marina as you enter, has a full set of round fenders (like 20 plus) to protect your boat - that tells me they care about their customer. New docks all well prepared and equipped. First rate operation

Great in and out. Offers to help in any way possible. I'll be back. For those that think this place has a surge and wake issue - I just didn't see it. Seems no worse than any other on a major port. Might be time for you to get a Winnebago. It's Fort Knox compared to most ocean accessible ports, well protected from both ocean and most harbor traffic (especially when a tanker is sitting at the fuel dock 300 yards away).

Great staff, well run marina, 2014-09-06
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (1134)

If it weren't for the wave action, this would be a 5 star marina. Easy in and out from the Gulf of Maine. Fair fuel prices, good docks and good power. Restaurant at the head of complex. Knowledgable and friendly staff that offered transport to grocery and/or marine stores.

Best transient space is at either end of the fuel dock with bow out...facing the inlet. Avoid the outer T head at almost all costs. Wakes from passing craft will roll you and there are no stand off pilings.

Portland bound, 2014-07-23
Captain: , New Bern, NC (50)

We sailed into Spring Point Marine to secure a part we ordered several days prior, and when we arrived it was actually waiting for us. a nice change in reliability when dealing with parts departments. The service dept. never returned our callls to schedule an hour of e tech time to install our part, so I was able to install it myself. The local staff at the marine were very friendly and helpful however, and the staff manager, Jim and tech Eric, also provied friendly service. with the excepetion of the rollling at the docks, we were very pleased with the marine. Nice showers , laundry facilities and restaurant. Outside of downtown Portland though.

supurb support and a laundry too, 2013-10-21
Captain: , South Portland, Maine (847)

This full service marina has the most helpful dock crew ever, we love this place: a well stocked marine store on site, VALTEC Diesel and gas, the bathrooms/showers are clean and have lots of hot water and Hannaford's supermarket is only a mile away along a walking/bike path. Another 1/2 mile affords access to a shopping mall with an Ace Hardware, Mr. Bagel, Goodwill, Napa, Post Office, Mc'donalds, Chinese Food, Tim Horton's,and a laundromat that will take heavy things like rugs and dirty things like rags, and lots more retail stuff. Restaurants are as close as at the marina (Joe's) or within a few miles the Old Port of Portland with litterally scores of choices. And one of the best breakfast places we have found while cruising is just around the corner at 158 Pickett Street, order a Hippie

This excellent stop over in the Portland area is not particularly known as a transient marina, but it should be. Contact Peter, the dockmaster, on channel 9 after passing Portland Headlight and they can always find a slip for a night or a week or a month or a season. The transient slips here are much less rock and roll than the marina options in Portland across the harbor and the rates are much more reasonable. And it's a cleaner and quieter marina too. A curtesy car may be available or the dock crew will run you into town for shopping if you ask politley.

As of 10/21/13, Valtec Deisel was $4.30/gallon

lots of wave action, 2013-08-31
Captain: , Vienna, VA (320)

We a 65 foot sail boat so they put us on the outer pier face. there was a fishing tournament going on so many boats going in and out. We did see one boat unlooad a 300 pound tuna. My grandson was amazed. Other than the waves the place was very nice with very accomodating staff.

Not Necessarily For Transients, 2013-08-17
Captain: , Little River, SC (1967)

We arrived for a four day stay and asked to have our fuel filters changed and a fuel leak resolved. In four days they could not find the time to do this. I always had the feeling that transients were a second class citizen here. the dock hands weee OK but not overly friendly. Restrooms/Showeres were clean and OK. Would consider coming back but notr if I needed service work.

Good Fuel Dock and access to shopping, 2013-07-20
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (90)

Came into Spring Point Marina to stay a couple of days and have stayed four days due to attitude of staff and convenience to grocery and other facilities. We found this South Portand marina a better solution for us than going into Portland marinas for a hot humid several days. Although a little bumpy as we were facing the entrance the wind helped keep the outside temperature tolerable. This is mainly a powerboat marina but we had plenty of depth for our 6+ ft draft sailboat.

The fuel dock was very nice with good protection (several small orange balls) and long enough to be able to pull into with very little problem. There is pumpout there as well. Friendly staff.

You can catch the South Portland bus Rte 21 directly up Broadway about 100 feet from the entrance to the marina. This bus will take you by two different grocery stores Hannafords or Shaws . The Mill Creek Shopping Center has UPS Store, TruValue, Napa Auto Parts if you need engine belts, oil etc. This same bus will take you to downtown Portland and the Old Port of Portland as well for all sorts of restaurants and shops. Although we didn't take advantage of it the bus seems to run late at night as well according to the schedule. We didn't use it but you can transfer to another bus that will take you to the large shopping area with Walmart, Target, etc.

In Portland Hamilton Marine (long walking distance from bus stop) is a large chandlery that supplies commercial and well as pleasure boats.

Everything Rocks!, 2013-07-08
