Reviews for Spring Cove Marina
Wonderful Facility, 2016-10-13
Captain: , Wrightsville beach, NC (304)

Staff could not have been more accommodating. Beautiful grounds and facilities.

Another Great Stay, 2016-10-12
Captain: , West River (95)

This was our second time to Spring Cove (first was in 2014). At our request we were provided a slip on a T-Head (B dock), which turned out to be a great location for our pump-out as the pump was across the dock from our boat. The location was not the greatest for WiFi. While we had a signal, the speed was not the greatest. We could not determine the location of the antenna(s), but the larger boats around us could have impacted the service. The Ship%u2019s Store is well stocked and the marina has a true feeling of being in the woods or of being a park. It is also a comfort to know Trevor, the owner, lives on the facility and takes great care in making his guest feel at home.We now know why this is a 1st Choice marina, looking forward to a stay in the future.

Superlative service, 2016-10-04
Captain: , New Bern, NC (30)

We stopped at Spring Cove, again, as we cruised south after two months in the Chesapeake Bay on our way home to North Carolina, because we like the friendly staff and nice facilities. One of our A/C units had failed and it was really hot in August 2016, so we asked the service yard to check it out during our two night visit. Given the record-breaking heat, the A/C repair guys everywhere were really busy. Spring Cove squeezed us in early the next morning, 17 August. HVAC tech Chip Schultz came to the boat with his gear, much to the approval of our dog Lucca. Down in the bilge, Chip discovered a serious condenser unit refirgerant leak which would take hours to track down and repair. Now we understood the nature of the problem, but we had to leave that day, so we thanked him and Spring Cove for the assessment. No charge! Now, that's super service!

Fantastic Boat Yard!, 2016-09-16
Captain: , jupiter,fl (130)

We brought our boat to the Spring Cove boat yard to have our bottom painted as well as some other maintenance performed. It was our first time at this boat yard and could not be more pleased. CJ, the manager was highly capable and a joy to work with and the entire staff , from Holly to Jeremy, to Kyle, was exceedingly competent, friendly, and accommodating. Our 61 ft motoryacht never looked better. We have tried many boat yards from Florida to Virginia, and have never been happier with the quality of the work or the professionalism of the people. Their honesty and integrity was refreshing. We will no longer bring our boat anywhere else.

Great experience in a very scenic marina, 2016-09-14
Captain: , Oxford, Maryland (10)

Spring Cove is a wonderful Marina to visit in the very charming town of Solomons Island. It is well maintained in a park-like setting. Friendly and helpful staff with clean facilities. We will be back!

A very nice marina, but very expensive!, 2016-09-02
Captain: , Whortensville, NC (506)

When in Solomons, I usually keep my boat at Solomons Harbor Marina behind the Holliday in. John Landry, the dockmaster said that he was full this time so I just went to Spring Cove, the next marina down the line. They had a slip so I pulled in, got settled into the slip and went to the office to check in. I was shocked to find that the bill for one month's rent was $720.00 per month! This is Solomons, not Annapolis! I already had the boat in the slip, had already run the credit card and was in a hurry to make a rental car appointment, so what was I to do?
This is a very nice marina with individual very clean heads, a swimming pool, ship's store, a nice common area and beautiful grounds with picnic tables - none of which I will need or use since I am only leaving the boat stashed there for a month.
I guess that the moral of the story is to always call to check prices before you pull into the slip. I guess I see now why a lot of marinas do not put their slip rent prices on their web sites,

Captain: , Lottsburg, Va (264)

Cant add much to what is below, the shop has some very interesting and pretty (wife's word not mine but I couldn't think of a better one) items. We have always found some gift to take to the grandkids or a Chesapeake rememberance for son in FL and daughter in GA.
We've stayed at Spring Cove almost every time we come thru Solomon's, this time in July. The bath house is always clean as is the pool and the staff is friendly and helpful. As with some other stays, we sought the assistance of the service yard and can't say enough nice things about the yard. We had a problem with the freezer and a tech was on the boat 15 minutes after I talked to the manager. He diagnosed the problem and while they did not have the part in stock, the tech showed me how to replace the part.

One of the Best, 2016-06-16
Captain: , Macatawa Michigan (1074)

We have stayed at Spring Cove many times over the last 7 years we have been traveling and every time we come back, I'm more impressed. We were there for 3 days this time with the wind blowing 30+ on the Bay and almost 100 degrees out. Just a lovely breeze at the marina and the crystal clear, cool swimming pool was just what we needed. A lively bar at the pool with sandwiches, salads, burgers, etc. A great "ships" store with wine, cheeses, salads, beer and lots of items for entertaining on a boat. Two levels of laundry, folding tables, some new machines but all clean. Bathrooms cleaned 2x day are spotless. Solar powered shuttle to take you to any of the restaurants, grocery, CVS, West Marine or there is a van that groups can be shuttled around in. CD Cafe fine dining and Lighthouse for more casual. Recycling. Friendly folks!! Great staff. Docks are fixed and only a little tired. Just love it.

definitely the best marina we've ever been in, 2016-06-15
Captain: , ST Nazaire - France (52)

A very pleasant and family owned and managed yard and marina, perfectly clean and maintained.
We left our sailing boat En-Dro two winters on the dry in perfect security/safety. The mecanics did very good job on the fuel circuit of the engines. And the problem we had the last time with our centerboard was solved within one day.

Excellent stay, 2016-05-09
Captain: , Southwest Harbor, ME (185)

Very helpful dock hands, beautiful grounds and landscaping, shuttle service, excellent head and shower facilities, wish we could have stayed longer

Great People, Great Place, 2016-04-14
Captain: , Washington DC (150)

We brought our 47ft sailboat to Spring Cove for haul out and paint. Will and Holley were great handling dockage, haul out, zinks, paint, etc. Very nice place, great lounge, facility, etc. - It was a great experience. We will be back.

Oct 2015 Update

We left our boat here to go home for about a month, knowing she would be in good care. I didn't expect hurricane Joaquin and the unrelated Nor'Easters to kick up, but Will Richards (manager) and crew took great care of our boat and kept us informed - even took down our genoa when he thought he should reduce windage.

Also had some work done while she was here and everything was up to snuff and cost came out lower than their estimate. Spring Cove will be my future "refit place" based on my great experiences here.

Sep 2015 Update to my 2010 Review below:

We made it back on our own boat in Sep 2015. What a great marina. I saw the dockhands walking the docks and inspecting / adjusting lines during a recent blow. Everything about this place is top notch.

- Jun 2010 Review -
Spacious and immaculately clean bathroom / shower facilities. Manicured grounds. Plenty of shade and picnic tables. Full service yard. Owner/operators Trevor and Liz are very accomplished sailors (as are many on staff). We berthed there after a week long cruise with John Kretschmer and I wish we had a marina like this closer to our home waters. I plan to be back.

Great Marina - Great Location, 2015-09-26
Captain: , Hull, MA (700)

We arrived on Thursday for 2 nights but due to weather: NE winds 25 with gust to 35 and seas 4-5 ft we are staying an additional 2 nights. We are so glad we choose ths marina. It is well protected and we don't even feel what is going on in the Chesapeake. The staff is great and the atmosphere ashore with the pine groves with picnic tables and grilles reminds me of camping in Maine - so nice. They have a great ships store for gifts, some marine supplies , beer and wine block ice and cubes They offer a courtesy van that will take you anywhere on the island from 8AM to 5 PM but they also have another courtesy vehicle; Toyota 4 runner, that you can use for 2 hours. In addition, they have complementary bikes. You will not have a proble getting around the island. The docks are fixed but in very good condition with pump facilites available at your slip. We had slip A35 and it was perfect. Nesstled inside with 6 ft at MLW and a alodisde finger 30ft long. If it's available take it.
Diesel is $2.30/gal but they offer a 10 cent/gallon discount if you are a MarinaLife member. They offer private restrooms and shower facilities that are extremely clean in addition to laundry facilties; 3 wahers and 3 dryers. The swimming is huge and there is also a pool bar and grille.
There are a number of restaurants on the Island but we Highly Recommend the CD Cafe for lunch and dinner. 5 star restaurant with 3 star prices. Excellent menu from pasta, steaks, seaford,....... and a full bar. There is a big supermarket within a couple miles that you will be abale to find all your provisions in addition to a CVS and a couple of Ligour stores.
For day trips there are a number of sites to see but don't miss the AnnMaries Sculpture Garden and Art Galley.
Great Marina with a great staff and amenities to make your visit very enjoyable. We will definitely return on our journey North!

Spring Cove, 2015-09-20
Captain: , ColonialBeach, VA (330)

Awesome Marina with friendly staff and great facilities!!

Welcoming marina, staff, 2015-09-13
Captain: , Who Knew Green Cove Springs (40)

Stopped at marina for two days after spending the 4th on the Potomac. It felt like we had "arrived". After exploring the bay for a couple of weeks we returned to this special place.
Trevor and the entire Spring Cove family are extremely professional, hardworking and welcoming. We felt at home under the pines in the grove.
The pool and Wheelhouse Grill were great. It felt like "Cheers" where everybody knows your name!
The gift shop is one of the best we've seen with a great selection of merchandise proudly displayed.
Individual air conditioned bathhouses are pristine, each containing like home shower sink and toilet. Three washers and dryers meant no waiting.
There is a well stocked lending library and lounge with TV.
The courtesy shuttle makes for simple provisioning and dining.
The yard staff was professional, courteous and knowledgeable.
We particularly liked having the pump out at the slip.
The yacht club members made all the transients feel at home. This is a memorable place and hope to return next summer.

Best dock signage, 2015-09-10
Captain: , Galesville, MD (993)

Agree with the other favorable reviews. Very comfortable environment and services. Pool a plus. But to me the best thing is the great signage on the docks including large colored flags unique for each dock (e.g., "look for the green flag at the end of your dock"). With the slip map online, the flags and good directions, finding our slip was a breeze reducing docking anxiety.

always on our annual stop, 2015-08-14

Our favorite in Solomons, 2015-08-02
Captain: , Arnold, MD (20)

One of the nicest resort marinas on the bay. Pool, pool bar, dockside pumpout, clean restrooms, free shuttle to town, well stocked gift shop, free wifi, and most importantly friendly/helpful staff. What else could you want? Stay 3 nights, get next one free. Town close enough to walk with several interesting shops and restaurants and the Calvert Marine Museum. Don't miss the Solomons Gallery - Terry Quinn's award-winning crab photos are fantastic. Great food at CD Cafe downtown and Rudy Duck to the north (take the shuttle there).

Best we've been to on the Bay, 2015-06-10
Captain: , Williamsburg, VA (107)

Fantastic stay, 6/7 to 6/10. First time here but we will definitely be back. Extremely clean, friendly employees that go out of their way, park-like atmosphere. Easy to get into town (marina has a free shuttle or walkable) and plenty to do in Solomons.

Nice place-good location, 2015-05-22
Captain: , North Palm Beach, FL (430)

We stayed here 5/16 and it was as nice as the last time! Very professional and laid back, nice docks and a good location (nice dinner at CD Cafe!) makes Spring Cove one of our favorite marinas.

None better!, 2015-05-14
Captain: , Hampton, VA (310)

We visited again late April 2015. Just as nice as it was last year!

We had an emergency maintenance problem right as we were trying to leave. The staff jumped right on it and we were STILL able to get away in a few hours with the problem fixed! :-D This place is the best. These folks are the finest.

We were here for 2 days in early May 2014, waiting out some very evil weather. It was a blessed, restoring shelter from the storm raging out in the bay.

The wonderful folks here truly made us feel at home! They were friendly, kind and went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed.

The shower facilities are the nicest anywhere! Each is a complete bathroom, with shower, toilet and sink, and its own locking door: As nice as any home. Soothing lighting, tile and thoughtful homey touches like nautical border trim around the ceiling and even plants. Amazing...

They have a great store that sells everything from boat supplies to liquor. The prices were very good. Some cheaper than West Marine! (A tube of caulk was cheaper here than there. :-) There also was a nice selection of souvenirs, clothing and foodstuffs.

The grounds were well kept. The whole place was inviting in the way Grandma's summer house would be. How can I say it? Like it was draped in graciousness and caring and even love.

We'll be back, because we'll get a free day with our next stay! Also, I want to see the really neat pool bar when it is open.

Thanks, Spring Cove!

Come here for a plesant stay, 2015-05-06
Captain: , Boothbay Harbor, Me. (30)

After a long day transiting the bay- come here- you will see.
I cruise from Fl. to Maine and always find that this facility is what a marina should be like. Wonderfully kept grounds with pleanty of spots to feel at home. You know you have arrived in Maryland and the upper Bay. Easy walk to West Marine, barber and well stocked 7/11. All hands are attentive to what-ever you need.
Try it-it speaks for itself.

Disappointed, 2014-11-21
Captain: , Kemah, TX (612)

Many thanks to Trevor for the note enclosed below. We will be back one day. It appears our below listed incident was an isolated instance. Don't let our experience reflect on them other than it did happen. We all have situations which occur. Thanks again Trevor for your prompt response.

We stopped at the fuel docks for fuel and departed for an anchorage. We returned for dinghy fuel and my wife needed to run up to the store for eggs. We were informed by the dock attendant that because we were not staying in the marina, I could not dock my dinghy there, even though it was the same attendant who had assisted us with fueling. Consequently, I had to wait for her to return off the dock floating around in the marina while she bought merchandise. This is NOT the first class facility we were expecting.

Management response:
Captain Jon: I am sorry that you had a disappointing experience at our fuel dock. Our dockhand was at fault for not alerting the office to your request. We normally refer dinghy tie-up requests to the Holiday Inn, immediately to our north, as they have a very nice floating dinghy dock and are closer to the grocery store than we are. However, upon request and if somebody just needs ice or something from our store, we will allow a dinghy to tie up for a short while. Again, I am sorry for the misunderstanding.

You won't find a better place, 2014-11-10
Captain: , Nashville (315)

We just left here after spending the summer doing a bottom job, some various other boat projects and just relaxing, which is easy to do with the huge pool and the Wheelhouse bar located conveniently in the pool area. The staff is top notch - professional, friendly, and fun. The facilities rival that of any other marina we've seen (totally separate bathrooms with toilet sink and shower in each one). Even the lending library in the lounge is great - literally hundreds of books that are organized by genre.
This is our 3rd time visiting and each time has been longer than the one before it. It truly feels like coming home, and we always look forward to coming here and highly recommend it to anyone heading up or down the Bay.

Our 1st stay at this wonderful marina, 2014-11-02
Captain: , Castine, Maine (2964)

We have come back here most every season and they continue to be a first rate marina. The canine crew loves the large grounds for their daily walks. We love the shuttle to the grocery store. We know we'll be back!

2012: This was our 1st stay at Spring Cove and it definitely lived up to their great reviews. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We met with the yard manager to discuss some work and he was very professional. You can pump out your boat right in the slip which is really very convenient. They have a shuttle that will take you to the Food Lion now that Woodburns has closed. We went with some fellow cruisers to the Captain's Table for dinner and had a nice casual meal. Jeff regretted that he was too busy to use the lap pool but he will. This may have been our 1st stay but it won't be our last.

Great Marina Ammenities & Staff, Yard Service Issue, 2014-10-23
Captain: , Sarasota, FL (60)

We stayed here for August 2014 and the marina staff & services are great. We decided to winter the boat here and contracted for a haul out date of 9/3/14 and drove back to Fl. After not hearing anything further we found out that the boat did not get hauled until 10/9/14. We trust that the contracted services were preformed.

Comfortable Feeling, 2014-10-02
Captain: , Frog Mortar Creek, MD (180)

Not much has changed with this marina since the early 1980s when I kept a small sailboat there. With its tall pines providing shade to the picnic/grill area, hospitable employees, pool with outdoor bar, trendy shop with essentials a boater needs, clean bath facilities, free shuttle, etc., it feels like home. It has character. On a round trip down the Bay I chose to stay at Spring Cove twice. On the return trip after getting in after dark (slip arrangments were made via telephone several hrs earilier), bicycles were available to venture into town for a bite to eat. During this visit bad weather was approaching and they were able to accomodate my boat for three days. No problems. As others noted there are pump out hoses on each dock but I understand at its further reaches the system does not function at 100%. I used the pump out at the fuel dock.

Friendly staff, 2014-09-22
Captain: , Hayes, VA (10)

Nice place to overnight. The shuttle service to town from the marina was great. If your coming in after hours, the docks are not labeled very well. A lot of the dock labels were hid by other boats, had to go back and forth trying to find the right slip I was assigned.

Great Marina Experience, 2014-09-15
Captain: , Cincinnati (32)

Just spent 2 nights here waiting out some weather. Everyone is extremely curtious and freindly. The facilities are kept spotless.

One of the best, 2014-09-11
Captain: , Pines Lake, NJ (391)

As we traveled north to summer in the Chesapeake we had the opportunity to stop at several marinas. Spring Cove is at the top of the list. We enjoyed it so much we signed up for an extended stay. The facilities are great and the staff is even better. Pumpouts on every dock, marina store with much of what you may need in a pinch. Large pool with poolside bar. Free shuttles to take you to nearby shopping and restaurants, free bikes to take you there yourself. Enterprise rental car will pick you up and a few miles away all the superstores are there as well as every chain restaurant you can name. West Marine and other restaurants are a very short walk. Wifi is the best we have experienced anywhere. I could go on and on. Absolutely no complaints from this full time liveaboard cruiser.

Only thing to be aware of is if you are having anything sent to you via U.S. Mail make sure you use the P.O. Box address instead of the street address. The post office will return it even though its a couple hundred yards away from the Marina. All UPS and FedEx use the street address.

Nice Stopover, 2014-09-04
Captain: , Annapolis MD (191)

This was our first stay, but not our last. The docks show their age, but the rest of the facilities are spotless. The staff couldn't be nicer. The pool was a welcome respite on a hot day. Courtesy transportation was a plus

Great Little Marina, 2014-08-28
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (20)

We arrived at Spring Cove on July 18 to spend a few months here and have some work done on the boat. The marina is very nice and while the wooden docks are showing their age, the marina is very clean and well kept. All of the staff is friendly, and very helpful.

The boat yard, run by Don is a first class operation. We had an air conditioner system replaced, windshields replaced, and a new refrigerator installed. Chip, the technician doing the majority of work is a meticulous, professional individual that did a great job and we are quite pleased.

The atmosphere of the marina is more like a resort. Nice pool, great picnic grounds with plenty of grills. Groceries, West Marine, and several good restaurant's all within easy walking distance. If walking is not you thing, their free courtesy shuttle can take you and is generally available to bring you back to your boat as late as 9:00 pm.

Reliable and consistent, 2014-08-22
Captain: , Solomons, MD (464)

I kept a boat here in the 80's and have been coming back as a transient for many years. Always neat and clean. Dockhands always pleasant and professional. Do it yourself, in slip pumpout is fantastic. If all marinas had this there would be no discharge issues on the bay. Wi-Fi very strong.

Great Marina, 2014-08-19
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (90)

We spent a couple of nights here while heading up and down the Bay in July. Usually we hang on a mooring ball but the generator was out, and it was hot, so we tied up. The facilities were a pleasant surprise: simply excellent; the staff the same. Very professional. Efficient in taking reservations over the phone then guiding us in and later with docking and departing. Had a nice package of local information. Needed a part and their shop office got it for me from a local vendor at cost. Had a courtesy car shuttle (golf cart) that was nice as we ate at a restaurant a good run down the island. There is a pool right at the head of the dock area that was well-attended, but once it got dark it the pool people kept the noise down.

All-in-all, just a great facility that was well run.

One Night Stay 20 July 2014, 2014-08-02
Captain: , Colonial Beach, VA (590)

We have been here before. It is a first class marina that works hard to please. Wifi, showers and other facilities clean and neat. Staff friendly and knowledable. Now they have a courtest car which is an additional plus. It is a van that takes you were you want to go and comes back to pick you up.

Thanks for the reviews, 2014-07-30

Thanks to all the Active Captains who have taken the time to write reviews. We read and pay attention to all of them! Clean & Friendly Marina, 2014-06-30
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (130)

This is our second stay at Spring Cove. It is very clean and the grounds are nice including a large picnic area with tables and grills. On our first stay we were in a very protected slip. Second time we were on the 'T' dock, not as protected but more breezey. Bath houses are clean with individual showers. The marina staff is very helpful and you can always find one if you need anything. (On our first stay we needed an alternator and the mechanic helped order it and get it here via next day UPS.) Nice pool and pool bar too. The town of Solomons is close by and you can use the marina bikes, free of charge, or take their shulltle service which is also free. Overall a great marina.

Quick in and out!, 2014-06-23
Captain: , gwynn,va. (208)

Needed to stop in somewhere for fuel, ice, water and liquor. Choose Spring Cove for it's location and was surprized to find everything was available right there. They threw in a free pump out with a diesel fill. Very efficient visit, we were back on the river in an hour.

Captain: , Buffalo (1144)

I know that Solomons is expensive, but that doesn't make this place at $2.10 ft plus elec for tiny ramshackle docks a good deal. The tiny finger pier (exactly 6 ft long) was high making gettiing on and off the boat difficult. The slip was exactly 13.5 ft wide between posts which meant that with our 12.5 ft beam we could not fit in with bumpers down on both sides (and you do need bumpers on both sides)Because it was so difficult to get off the boat, we only made one shore excursion. There is a pool, and it must be nice because a lot of families with children were enjoying it. There is also a small store, but there is a West Marine and a 7-11 about 3/4 mile away. There is no cable TV, and our air antenna would not receive any stations. There is no courtesy car, and we did not try the advertised shuttle, but nearly everything is within a bike ride, and several restaurants are within walking distance.

We could not connect at all to wifi directly with our computer, but once we turned on our wifi amplifier we got a good connection.

I gave this place three stars only because of the excellent location. We will not be back.

Management response:
Captain Rossland: My sincerely apologies that the slip you were assigned was not suitable for your boat. We always do try to match the right size slip for the size of the visiting boat so that it is not too tight a fit and that you can get off the boat. It is obvious from your review that we failed to do that in your case - I am sorry.

We had a very protective slip i don't think the boat moved all night. The restrooms are great and very clean. The pool is over 75 feet long with a bar at one end. The walk into town was about 1.5 miles with a stop at the tiki bar. In the evening we took the Gulf cart to the Ruddy Duck and had a great meal. Down side the gulf cart broke down as we entered the marina..

Nice marina but NO television service!, 2014-06-02
Captain: , St Pete Beach FL (82)

Stop over on way to Annapolis. Big marina, wood docks with VERY short piers. Expensive per foot ($2.10) and still have to pay for electric ($6/30 amp). Most we've paid on trip to date. Only place we've been with no TV service. Pool looks nice. Several restaurants nearby. A Rascal Flats concert tonight! Wi-Fi is very good...will use computers for entertainment on a poor weather day.
Update...Took a walk after the rain stopped to look at the property. Spring Cove is quite pretty and very well maintained. The bathrooms were clean and looked comfortable. There is television in the lounge & nice laundry facility. Then walked up the road a bit. For travelers this is a stopover...for "locals" this would be a great destination by boat for a family vacation.

Captain: , Racine, WI (360)

We planned to stay a few nights to visit with our grandchildren and their parents that live in Philadelphia. We incurred a bit of storm damage to our Bimini Top on the way into the marina, that coupled with some bad weather caused us to stay for a week. I am so pleased with the staff here, they have a courtesy shuttle to go to restaurants or the grocery store. I was especially pleased that when we extended our stay 3 additional days they automatically gave us their weekly rate. Very pleased and will return. We also purchased fuel at a competitive price.

This is a great spot, 2014-05-28
Captain: , Deltaville (51)

The place is very friendly. They have what you need. There is a nice pool, laundry, and a shuttle service. West Marine is 3 tenths of a mile away. There is pump out at every slip. The fuel prices $3.79/diesel and 3.89/gas seem fair. The cost is $2.10/foot for your slip or T-head.

Great marina - friendly staff, 2014-04-20
Captain: , Ottawa (1173)

We stopped here for a few days to have family come to visit us. Older but solid fixed docks. Very friendly staff and a shuttle van to drive you places or pick you up. Very nice bathrooms and showers, laundry and a large lounge with big screen TV and cable. Great dockage rates, and when we stayed here we paid for 3 nights and got the 4th free. We'd recommend this marina without hesitation.

Stayed 3 nights as Bay was bad. It was 55 degrees and rained almost all of time. Bad circustance to try to rate a resort. Dock staff abandoned us minutes after tie up and spent 90 minutes trying to get electric to work, finally had to call for help and they came back. Office was cordial. Price was 1.90 foot as off season and two 50 amp plugs were 12.00 each, threw one in for no charge 3rd night. Diesel was 3.97 on sign. 10 feet of water at dock. Mate said museum was very good.

My Favorite Marina in the Chesapeake, 2013-10-03
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

The docks are not new, but in good shape. Facilites on shore are older but spotless. This is just a great marina. It is very quiet on shore with a large pool, tall pine trees that give one the feeling of being in the mountains. The staff is excellent. They have free bikes, so you are a 3 minute bike ride (or 10 minute walk) from West Marine and a grocery store. I really like this marina.

Our second stay was due to a mechanical problem and Don, the Yard Manager was quick to have Chas on top of it. Chas is a very knowledgeable young fellow and had us fixed quickly.
We'll be back everytime we're in the area.

When the marina wasn't busy, the internet worked well... Later when full it wasn't very good even with a powered antenna... a few hours later it's working well again... Reboot?

Very nice folks and a beautiful spot. Staff is very helpful and seemed skilled for such a young crew.
Good Bar.
Good ship store.

Was there 7-19 thru 7-24 (Screwpile) Friendly staff, GREAT POOL BAR AND GRILL (closed Tues and Wed). We love the shuttle and use it after the crew has left - just wife and i enjoying some vacation time. Lovely picnic grounds, spotless restroom. Only thing that makes detracts from this is the WIFI for computer. 4G worked fine for wife, but needed to do some work..ugh!

Cannot say enough about this place. Friendly staff. Family run with owners hands on. Great bar and a really cool rum punch. The Marina store has a little of everything and beer and wine. Aked the bartender where to watch the fireworks from and he said right here at the pool. He wasn't wrong and bar was open till 10 ish. Would stay here again and again.

Great Place to Stop and Relax, 2013-07-08
Captain: , Grand Island, NE (240)

Spring Cove Marina is an excellent facility, very protected. Trevor and Will and all staff treat you like family. The marina is family owned and operated - and all staff are courteous and available should you need assistance. The ships store has most essentials and surprisingly unexpected niceties. West Marine is within (close) walking distance - & Spring Cove offers bikes and operates a shuttle for further location access (groceries, retail, dinning, sight seeing) The marina includes well maintained grounds with shaded picnic areas and a great pool to cool down on hot days.

Reference to an earlier note - the WiFi has been working during our stay.

We will definitely return - we enjoyed our stay and the beautiful surroundings.

We loved it, waiting out a storm, and will happily return. I agree with all the AC 5 star reviews. Really nice and helpful folks. But, SCM advertises wifi at the docks, and didn't deliver. Trevor was working on it, and in fairness wifi was available at the office. I burned lots of cellular data.

Captain: , Topsail Beach, NC (480)

2013 - Everything I said in my 2012 review still stands. This year we came back intending to stay 2 nights and have now signed up for several months. When we arrived we were having problems with a blocked waste line. Within minutes of asking for help Kevin arrived from their shop. He was the most efficient worker we have ever had on the boat...knew exactly what to do and how to do it. Once he identified the problem he only had to make one trip to the shop for supplies. He replaced the line in less than 2 hours, charged us for exactly the amount of time spent, and charged us substantially less for the replacement hose than we would have paid at West Marine even with our 15% discount coupon.

Once again, all of the staff here are the greatest and the owner, Trevor, is hands on and goes out of his way to satisfy. We just can't say enough good things about this place. And on top of it all, they have recycling available!

Our only wish would be for cable TV at the slip, but at least they have the lounge with new large flat screen TV. Also, great book exchange!

2012 - We are into the third week of a month long stay, and we love it here! We'd been here before but not for an extended period like this time. Shortly after our arrival we asked to move to a slip that we thought would be more suitable for our extended stay, and that was no problem. The staff here are plentiful and extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home.

Plentiful, private restroom/shower facilities are the cleanest anywhere!

Frequent weekend marinawide activities are fun. Owner Trevor and his family make everyone feel at home. If he was rude to someone, as indicated in a previous review, I'm sure it was with good reason....running a great business requires that at times!

Normally, they close the library/lounge in the evenings, but at our request they arranged to leave it open and hooked up a TV so we could watch the Olympics every night. We understand that upgrades in the near future will enable them to have cable TV in the lounge, and our only suggestion would be that they leave the lounge open 24/7. As in other marinas with no slipside cable and a lounge with only one TV, watching would be on a first come first served basis! Wifi signal is great!!

We love the park like setting with plenty of shade, picnic tables, grills, free bikes, pool/tiki bar, complimentary shuttle service and children's play area. The Calvert Marine Museum right outside the gate is a must see!

We hate to leave and can't wait to come back.

This is perhaps the best marina on the Chesapeake. Service is outstanding with a most helpful staff ranging from the ships store lady, Sam, to the management.

We went back to ride out Hurricane Sandy. Ended up staying almost a week. As usual the staff was great and we very much appreciated their shuttle service. Finally, their four day and weekly dockage rate was extremely reasonable.

When my washdown pump quit, I quickly got frustrated trying to fix it myself. My wife called Spring Cove at 8 AM and we were on the T-dock at 8:15 with the service technitian on the boat by 8:30. He quickly found the broken wire and diagnosed the source of the problem - a pinhole leak in the hose leading to thewindless well.

Captain: , Longboat Key (110)

We needed somewhere to leave our boat for a couple of weeks while we went home. Spring Cove offered us a good rate for 3 weeks and it turned out to be one of the best marinas we have ever stayed at. Family run businss with a very professional and friendly staff. It helps to have West Marine around the corner and the various other boat yards in close proximity for just about any issue. Food Lion, CVS and a good liquor store are close.

Spring Cove in the Fall, 2012-10-17
Captain: , Edenton, NC (91)

Spring Cove in the Fall is a peaceful stop while cruising the Bay. It's also a very good place to hide from wind. If there is strong blow from the South, the two 'T' dock heads facing south may not be your cup of tea due some lapping on the hull. The dockside pump-out was a nice convenience. The Staff is very friendly making us feel welcomed. Their curtesy electric shuttle is great to get to local places. Although you can walk to everything (food, wine, West Marine). Recommended stop and we will return.

Needed some salon window tracks replaced and found Spring Cove Marina wonderful. Chip took out 2 of my salon windows and in no time replace the deteriated track on both. His work was exceptional and even scrubbed the deck below the frames before he left.
The marina gave me a great weekly rate and when the work wasn't complete I got a free day. They have a shuttle which will take you to the local restaurants and west Marine is an easy walk.
Would definitely recommend the marina and/or the mechhanics.

Very friendly people AND they have Cherry Garcia ice cream in the ship store! What more could you want!

Captain: , Williamsburg, VA (745)

It's been a couple of years since we were here last. The service and facility are top notch. The staff are accomodating and happy to help. They have the cleanest restrooms and showers on the bay. If a marina has clean restrooms then the rest of the facility must be great. It can be a bit of a walk to many restaurants in town. But, they have bicycles and a free shuttle. It certainly deserves it's Active Captain *1st* rating.

My summer cruise ran out of time, so I hauled the boat here and left it for the winter. The marina staff are friendly and highly helpful. Every bill I ever got from these guys was a pleasant surprise! How often do you hear this? The boatyard staff are world class, in my opinion. They do top quality work at reasonable prices. And they will counsel you on the best mix of do-it-yourself work and professional work to solve your problem within your budget. This place is worth going out of your way if you need to put your boat in a boatyard.

A delightful Gem of a facility.
The facility is very well maintained, well located, has a great on site pool and bar, the shop is well stocked and stores are but a short walk away. There is a 6 Pax golf cart that will run you about the town should you need it. Well sheltered, deep enough to be comfortable and full of friendly people. The town and musieum are both well worth a visit.
If it had a 100 Amp power supply and floating docks it would be a five star location. I am almost reluctant to rate it as I hope it does not become to popular and reduce the chances of us coming again.

This has become a tradition in my family to sail down from Baltimore to "visit" Spring Cove Marina. Their post card invites you to vacation there and we actually agree.

Our first visit was to get someone to haul the boat to investigate a problem. They did this the next morning without delay or question. The staff is friendly and helpful. Their pool is delightful and my daughter loves the fact that they broadcast music under water at the pool.

This year they had a complementary shuttle service to take you wherever you want and pick you up later. West Marine is a close by and within walking distance unless you are lazy like me and just borrowed one of their bikes.

I highly recommend Spring Cove Marina.

We stay in Solomon's for a month every July. We stay at the Solomon's Yachting Center becasue they have a better monthly rate. However, I would recommend Spring Cove for any maint work. I was doing my own bottom work this year, so they pulled/washed and blocked. I did need several bigger items taken care of (alternator, belts and prop work). They were very helpful and quick to respond. Last minute requests and asking for an extra hand was no problem and they met my 4 day turn requirement. Don and his crew did a nice job.

Captain: , West Basin, Patuxent River, MD (20)

The facility itself is clean and employees knowledgeable. Lovely grounds, a nice pool with a bar and hotdogs. The ship store is full of lovely items for all budgets and tastes. Everything on the outside of this marina is fine. However, the demeanor of the owner is less than desirable. We had a small $2,800 air conditioning replacement. The a/c man did a great job. A long story short%u2026the owner treated us poorly after the A/C was replaced. Not a thank you, how-do-you-do, nothing. We were insulted when he called over his shoulder that check-out time was noon. We have yet to decide if we will go back. There are too many other fine marinas in that area where our business may be appreciated more than Trevor Richards. Mr. Richards is a little rough around the edges for our taste and if actions speak louder than words, he is not very hospitable.

Captain: , New Orleans, LA (631)

Even though it was a busy regatta weekend (Screwpile) we were given clear directions to our tree-shaded slip. Marty gave good information. The marina is well maintained, and staff kept it clean and neat despite the overrun of racing sailors. Free bikes are a big plus for the restaurants in town. The free shuttle to the grocery store was a big help; when we told them we were doing a substantive re-supply, they offered to pick us up in their van to help carry all those bags.

Beautiful Park Like setting, 2012-06-27
Captain: , Cincinnati, Oh. (140)

A month at Spring Cove Marina is being in a park like setting. I was drawn to this marina by past reviews on Active Captain. The slips are located to prevent views of the parking lot. From our boat we could see the charcoal grills, beautiful landscaping, and many mature trees with picnic tables under the manicured grass. They have courtesy solar powered shuttles- yes this is a designated clean marina. Shopping, West Marine, and many other stores are available by the marinas bicycles or shuttle. Restrooms, Laundry and the Lounge are very clean and well kept. The ships store offers a large selection of food, assorted items, and adult refreshments. They have an evening security gate. I needed assistance with my charger/inverter and they were able to correct the problem the following day by a professional highly trained technician. I was very pleased with the fine job that was performed. As for the wi-fi, it worked great every time I went on. If time permitted I would love to spend a boating season at this marina.

We've stayed at Spring Cove on every trip we've made up the Chesapeake and haven't regretted a single time. This is a beautiful, well protected, and exceptionally clean marina with excellent staff. The swimming pool is great, the picnic area is clean and well kept, and the bathrooms are individual and always clean. They have a courtesy golf cart to take you wherever you want to go. We stayed at Spring Cove on our way north up the Chesapeake and on our way back. We spent a total of about two weeks there. The marina is a great facility. The bathrooms are spotless, cleaned every day and have very hot water (something we don't always find along the waterway). Their do it yourself boatside pumpout is easy and powerful. They fully recycle. If you have a bike it's easy to ride to the grocery store and a couple of good restaurants. If you don't have a bike they have many at the marina. They also have a spend 3 nights and get a night free policy. The nice thing about that is that the fourth free night can be anytime.

Very convenient to get work done at the yard on the premises. You can walk to the nearby strip mall and ride (mostly for free) one of many municipal buses that go to several local shopping areas (supermarkets, walmart, target, etc). Two decent restaurants nearby and several others in the strip mall.

Captain: , Drayden, MD (70)

We stayed over the Labor Day weekend on a Friday and Saturday night. We were going to arrive late and the office would be closed. They gave us all the information we needed and a map to our slip with it's number. When we arrived, we found it no problem; all of the slips heading to our location (very close to the pool!) were labeled with the dock number.
We are spoiled. The marina was great, the atmosphere was great. We swam in the pool (neat underwater music) which was very refreshing, we visited the store which was well appointed with a little bit of everything. We used the picnic area and a grill next to the office for a cookout amongst the large, tall pine trees.
The marina also has a DIY pumpout which was great. Grab a cart of hose, wheel it down to your boat, find the switch to turn on the vacuum system, and pump out your boat yourself, right from your slip!
The young guy at the fuel dock was very helpful while we fueled for our trip home to the Potomac.
Couldn't have asked for a better stay for our labor day weekend!

We weathered Irene at Spring Cove Marina. The staff and owner could not have been more helpful to all. They remained on the docks throughout the storm. Before the storm hauled 34 boats in 2 days! After the storm they had the entire marina cleaned and ready to receive boats by the end of Sunday (day after the sotrm passed).
Highly recommend this marina.

One of the best!, 2011-07-06

What everyone else has said. A great place to visit. The loss of the onsite restaurant is more than offset by the new courtesyshuttle that will take you almost anywhere on the island. A great place got better!

Third time is the charm, 2011-05-26

This was our third visit to Spring Cove Marina and we were not disappointed. It was a brief visit but we took advantage of their new shuttle service for shopping, laundry facilities, clean restrooms, refreshing workout in the swimming pool. Only disappointment was the closure of the nearby grocery store.

Great Marina All-Around, 2011-05-23
Captain: , Hilton Head, SC (30)

This is the most well-run marina we have seen in a long time. We wintered our boat here and had some major bottom work done. Great communication between the boat yard staff and us on the repair work throughout the winter. There was never any pressure, things just went like clockwork, even when we launched and stayed for 4 days (pay 3 and 4th is free). The "Clean Marina" title is well-deserved & everyone is professional and friendly. They have bikes & a free shuttle service available.

We stopped again this spring after a great experience last fall. Several new slips on the tee heads, an expanded store and free shuttle service to the local area. Bad news for long time Solomons hands is that Woodburn's Grocery Store and the Naughty Gull Restaurant have both closed.

Pit Stop only, 2011-05-01

Stopped for fuel and ice. Contacted on vhf, courteous and helpful staff had the ice order on the dock, assisted me in tying up and took on fuel. Free pump out.

Well protected and CLEAN bathrooms and showers., 2011-02-22
Captain: , Gloucester, VA (514)

Spent a couple of days here in mid March with the wife who, like most women, is more sensitive to the state of cleanliness of bathing facilities and she was notably impressed.

I would imagine that boat traffic is heavier in the summer months and therefore if you are birthed on the outermost tee you can get buffeted about a bit, however, this facility is far enough inside that you would have less traffic than is you stayed closer to the mouth of the harbor.

Nice marina with lots of trees and shade. Like a campground! Great individual head/showers. 5 min walk to West Marine

Nice place to stop in Solomons. Docks need some upgrading and water pressure is a bit low. Good power. Knowledgable folks to assist with docking. Nice pool and well kept grounds. It's a working yard as well. Easy walk to grocery, West Marine and post office. Resturant on premises.

Left my boat winter of 2009/10. Good boys working in the yard. They did eveything they promised (so far!). I'll report again when I pick my boat up in the spring.

Good Marina, 2009-07-19
Captain: , Middle River (186)

Nice wooded marina. The speakers underwater at the pool were a hit with the kids, I just wish they had a few above water level so I didn't have to stay underwater to hear music.
There is pump out at your slip but it is not very strong, I waited for another marina to pump out.

Actually I would have given it a 5 star ating except that I've been to Herrington harbor North in Deale, Md.

Very nice, 2008-06-04
Captain: , Stafford, VA (1063)

We go to Spring Cove several times each year. It is a great setting, with lots of trees, friendly staff and slipholders, and nice showers. It's also very close to the Calvert Marine Museum, West Marine, a gourmet market, and several restaurants, and bikes are available for rental to go to town if you don't want to walk.

Very family oriented, 2008-03-20
Captain: , Tolchester Marina, MD (6)

I have taken my family there for Fourth of July the last four or five years. The bathhouse facilities are very clean and are setup as individual units which I like. The picnic area and pool are nice and they have a playground and are pet friendly. There is a small strip mall within walking distance, or you can rent a bike on site, and they have all amenities. Grocery store, seafood market, liquor store, fast food joint, and so on. It is also easy to dingy into town and go to the dingy dock or the Tiki Bar. The only think I don’t like is I think the slips are to skinny. I forgot to mention that there is an emergency room closer then the strip mall and yes I have had to use it .

Very nice marina. Good location with pretty grounds. Good facilities. Grocery and West Marine within walking distance. Pump out on all docks.

Spring Cove - Outstanding, 2007-06-23
Captain: , Mashpee, MA (541)

We stayed here early June 2007 and found it an outstanding marina. It was also a short walk to groceries, next to a Holiday Inn if you need a break from the boat. Museum a short walk, interesting old boats and history of the area. Pool was welcome relief on the 90 degree day we hit while there.

One of the cleanest, best run marinas I have ever visited. I currently berth my 40' Endeavour at Spring Cove and am extremely happy with everything.
