Approach is pretty simple as long as you note that you have to keep the green channel markers to port - you go in the narrow space between the posts and the small island; 7 feet should not be a problem.

Once past the breakwater keep between the green range marks and the marina.

Reviews for Spicers Marina
Great Stopover - Great People!, 2016-08-01
Captain: , Providence (207)

Kudos to Chris - perhaps the most helpful, enthusiastic dockmaster in Connecticut! While you need to be careful, as there's a lot of shallow water when approaching. I entered near dead-low tide and had at least 6 feet all the way. Once past the breakwater it got a few feet deeper.

Spicer's Marina, 2015-09-02
Captain: , Scarsdale, NY (190)

A great alternative to Mystic, since navigation in and out is so easy: no long, windy channel, no bridges. Helpful, friendly staff. Convenient and very well- stocked store. We made our reservations by email and phone, and they accommodated our less-than-certain cruising schedule even though the marina was full to capacity. Extremely well protected. Pump out boat lives nearby, which makes this spot even more convenient. There's a great restaurant on the premises, there are more in town, a short walk away, and both the airport/car rental and Amtrak are relatively close by taxi. I'm sure I'll be back.

Mostly good, but poor mast stepping caused forestay/furler damage, 2015-08-31
Captain: , Saint Petersburg, FL (30)

Aside from their service department almost destroying our mast, we liked this marina quite a bit. I agree with most of the other reviews I%u2019ve read and would describe them as good, but not amazing; generally 4-stars.

However, I only gave them 2 stars because when restepping the mast after some repair work, they failed to tighten the standing rigging. No cotter pins were installed in the turnbuckles, and most of them were not even threaded enough to see the cotter pin hole! We had told them repeatedly that we were heading offshore all the way to Florida and had come to expect decent quality work. Unfortunately, during our rush to provision and leave we didn't notice how slack they had left the rig (PVC boots covered the turnbuckles). After rounding Montauk, we tried to unfurl the genoa, but the forestay was (apparently) so loose that the jib track grabbed the forestay and spun it. The halyard was wrapped around the forestay irretrievably, and the top of the jib track was ripped apart. We couldn't get the sail furled or dropped until we climbed the mast. It could have been worse, but still cost a couple thousand to repair.

Great Yanmar service - good store, 2014-06-11
Captain: , Milford (439)

Docks are good, bathrooms and showers are clean except during the busiest weekends. The Seahorse Restaurant always has customers because it is always good. Spicers Chandlery has useful things and will order for you quickly. They are always helpful, and prices are good. Avoid Abbot's in the Rough lobster house as it is only living off of its reputation. Local pump-out boat will come to you almost anytime for free.

The marina is very protected with a huge breakwater, docks are strong and in great condition. Don't bother with the Beacon Wifi Internet - a total waste of time and money.

If you need fuel or pumpout go around the point to Noank Shipyard on your way up to Mystic. The pumpout boat may only be available on weekends.

Nice Marina, Good location, 2013-07-17
Captain: , Little River, SC (1967)

This is an older marina but has good facilities. Clean showers and restrooms, floating docks and good on site restaurant, Seahorse. Recommend the Bacon Wrapped Scallops and Sauteed Calamari appetizers, half price at Happy Hour (4-6). Within walking distance of a good gourmet market and Abbotts Lobser in the Rough - a Noank tradition. Friendly dockmaster, very helpful

A marina to call home, 2013-05-10
Captain: , Noank, CT (20)

I have been a slip-holder here for the past 10 years. After sailing from Canada to St Crioix and visiting many marinas along the way, it was always a good feeling to come home to Spicer's. The location is great and ship's store prices very competitive. Best of all, the friendly attitude of the marina staff is what made it feel like home. Spicer's has found to the key to making your boating fun!

A perfect place to winter!, 2013-05-08
Captain: , Orcas Island, WA (212)

We were here for the winter of 2012-2013 through Hurricane "Sandy" and Winter Storm "Nemo". We had great protection and the people of Noank were awesome. I can't recomend this place enough! For the money, you won't find a better marina in New England.

Captain: , NORTH POLE ALASKA (20)

I just cannot say enough good things about this marina and the staff here. I have stayed here for extended periods of time and had many major maintenance projects completed. The work is superior and at a very competitive price; everything from glass work, mechanical, sail/canvas, bottom paint, rudder work, woodwork, rigging, and other things.

The people here, residents in the marina, are all extremely friendly and helpful. The staff in the store, the office, and the yard are all outstanding and bend over backwards to accomodate whatever you need.

The Sea Horse restaurant has phenomenal food and great drinks and always has the most interesting people sitting around the bar.

I will continue to frequent this marina when I pass up and down the east coast. I love this place and have not been to too many marinas that top this one, probably none to be honest.

......definately worth the stop!

Expensive - good repair facility, 2011-11-25
Captain: , Portsmouth RI (275)

We were here for 2 nights in October. There were no moorings available for a 39' boat so we took a slip. Probably a good thing as we watched the masts of the boats on moorings from our slip and it was extremely rocky in the mooring field. It was the most expensive marina we used in our trip down the ICW. The Boat US discount of 25% only applied for the first night!
We paid $2.90/ft less 25% for the first night.
As we have found in New England for the early autumn, marinas charge the full or high rate but cut back on service. There was no one from the Marina to help us into the slip. We had difficulty finding the slip.

The office is a hike from our slip and difficult to find. We had to do the hike twice inn order to return the bathroom key. It has a good ships store. There is no grocery store nearby. We were offered a taxi telephone number.
Bathrooms were nearby and clean.

Best value in the area, 2011-11-07
Captain: , Palmetto, FL (504)

The mooring field is fairly well protected from everything but a SW wind and the slips are protected by a large breakwater. The marina has nearly everything you'll need and can order what they don't have. Woody the launch operator is a great guy and jumps to when you radio. The local market closed down, but there are some small places in walking distance.

Walk Around, 2011-07-25
Captain: , Stony Point, NY (90)

We've stayed at Spicers Moorings several times. The launch capt. is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Be advised, launch only runs 10 AM until 7PM yet they have a huge dingy dock. About 75 steps from the dock is a great place to eat/drink, The Sea Horse. It's been redone and is under new mangement as of this writing, 7/11.If Spicers Marine doesn't have what you need, about 3/4 mile down the road, past the Fisherman restaurant, you'll find Palmer Marine. And for breakfast or lunch, you just have to go walking about 1/2 mile to Carsons. A authentic old diner with good food.

Great Base for Cruising, 2011-05-28
Captain: , Here and There (443)

Well run marina with nice floating docks, well stocked marine store, and very capable head mechanic, Marcel. Entry at night can be a challenge as there are no lighted marks to guide you into the marina. Presently no restaurant in immediate vicinity, but one is being remodeled for reopening soon. Its a 12 minute walk into Noank which has a small market, and there is a great breakfast place called Carson's cafe, with far more menu items than places to sit. Mystic and its Seaport is just a short drive or long walk away. The submarine base in Groton is nearby too, and a great place to visit.

A One-Off yard, 2011-02-04
Captain: , New London CT (121)

"We've got it if we can find it" and they usually do find it at Spicer's ships store. This is a fine yard for a transient or season. All your needs are within walking distance: groceries, deli, restaurant, bar, liquor store, beaches etc. The staff is quite professional, largely made up of family and friends and very friendly finding ways to be of assistance or otherwise leaving you to yourself. There is a sail loft and fishing supplies too. An unusually complete location to visit.

Quality Yard and Marina, 2011-01-18
Captain: , New York Harbor (495)

Rented moorings from them. Nice setting and many services available. Restaurants nearby are good quality.

Excellent marina for small to medium sized boats, 2009-08-14
Captain: , Whitby, ON (794)

They do not have a fuel dock and the free pumpout boat has to come from the Mystic side of Noank, but they do come. Docks are a bit tight.
The store has a reasonable selection of stuff but will order almost anything for delivery within a day or two - prices seemed to be a bit better than Defender for these things.
Service department is excellent with fair prices (the shop rate is the same as others but they count their hours fairly. The staff is very helpful

Excellent marina, 2007-11-01
Captain: , Newport, RI (81)

Easiest in/out on the sound, well stocked store, competent employees, friendly people.

Almost Full-Service Marina, 2007-09-10
Captain: , Groton, CT (3)

Best spot in CT to keep a boat at a slip; only lacks a fuel dock and pump-out. Friendly/helpful boaters make a transients stay peasant. Convenient to Mystic via bike or cab. 4 good restaurants within walking distance. Slips well protected in storms. Great , easy-going owner.
