Approach: 10
Transient dockage: 8
Fuel dock: Unknown

Other depth info: Be very careful at the Spencerport walls if you draw more than 4.5 feet of depth. Here are measured depths at normal pool:

Wall east of bridge on the north side: This is the only deep water location. Expect depths here of 7-10 feet. There are rings and a few large bollards.

Wooden dock east of bridge on the south side: Depths right at the dock are 3.5 - 4.5 feet with rock and crushed rock bottom. It falls off quickly to 5 - 6 feet but can cause significant problems for deeper draft boats at the very last second while pulling in.

Wooden pump out dock west of bridge on the north side: This 40 foot dock has 3.5 - 4 feet of water at the dock with rock and crushed rock bottom. It also falls off quickly to 5 feet but there doesn't seem to be more depth than that until you are further away from the dock.

Wooden dock west of bridge on the south side in front of the gazebo: There is about 4.5 feet at the dock that falls off quickly to about 6 feet with a rock and crushed rock bottom.

Except for the wall east of the bridge on the north side, you should come into the docks very slowly if you draw 5 feet or more and probably should not come in under power with props spinning if they are more than 3 feet below the water surface.

We fully agree that this facility is extremely hospitable to boater and visitors.

We were met by volunteers who are friendly.

This is a good place to walk around and do your shopping. People are courteous and very friendly with visitors.

Great little spot with all the amenities, 2015-08-25
Captain: , Florida (235)

We pulled in here for two nights . Free dock, electric , showers and Wi-fi. Tops grocery within walking distance and everything else. Wings are now 45 cents on Thursday nights at The Galley restaurant and wi-fi intermittent, but great on laptop with a booster. Even streamed a Netflix movie.
Don't miss this great little spot.

Delightful stop, 2015-08-09
Captain: , Pasadena, MD (1496)

There are free power stanchions with water on both walls, but the south wall is preferred for town and restroom access. There is a 48 hr limit, somewhat enforced. The dockmaster here (Bill D) is very helpful. The town has many shoppes and restaurants within easy walking distance.

This town has it all., 2015-06-05

This is a must stop if you are touring the canal. Great place to pump off.
Great breakfast at the Java Bakery. Very interesting early architecture.

A Great Stop on the Canal, 2014-09-26
Captain: , Detroit (647)

We stayed here for a night on 9/25/14 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Tops Market is a very short walk from the wall and is a great supermarket. There is also a bookstore in the adjacent plaza that has books stacked everywhere - usually have over 100,000 books in the store. Update on the Galley Restaurant - wings are now 35 cents each on Mondays and Thursdays and $1.99 burgers on Wednesdays.

Great Stop on the Canal, 2014-08-11
Captain: , Highland Yacht Club (60)

We stayed in Spencerport for 2 nights. The dock was well-lit and we were close enough to the lift bridge that there was no issue with wake from boaters who were passing by. Wifi didn't work very well for us at the library. Washrooms and showers are nice and clean. Tops Supermarket was a great size grocery store and they will let you take the cart with your groceries back to the boat as long as you ask permission first, and secondly promise to return the cart to the store as soon as you have finished unloading your groceries. There is also a Tim Hortons Express right inside the store. There is also a pharmacy and Dollar store close by as well. Had a good selection of restaurants. The Texas BBQ has great food at a very reasonable price.

Great Stop On THe Western Erie, 2014-07-25
Captain: , St. Clair, Michigan (456)

We spent 2 days here and the place is really good with showers and restrooms on the South side east of the bridge. Town is right here with everything in close walking proximity. Tops is a good market for groceries with fresh produce and it is at the bottom of the hill in a shopping center. The Taste Of Texas BBQ is really good and reasonable. This should be a must stop for everyone on the Erie Canal.

It's closer than you think . . ., 2014-07-23

This lovely dock in a park like setting is only one block from the 24-hour Tops supermarket, with deli and bakery. Next door on one side is Dollar Tree, on the other side is a large laundromat. Very helpful staff at the Depot & Canal Museum, very clean restrooms and showers, and a large book exchange--or free books if you just want something to read..

Wifi was intermittent at best. Free pump-out on the north bank of the canal, west of the bridge. Worked well, also there was water and a hose for you to flush your tank.

This is a free facility, but they do accept donations.

another dang near perfect stop, 2014-07-18

GREAT Free Dock: It Has It All, 2014-07-07
Captain: , Annapolis MD (258)

Spencerport has a GREAT wall with all the services. You get water and electrric at the dock and access to first class showers. Since you are in the downtown area, you have ready access to groceries, fuel, churches, restaurants, etc.

We shopped at Topps, had good BBQ at Texas BBQ, and dessert at Abbot's Custard. What could be better? On Sunday, we attended Spencerport United Methodist Church.

We consider this a MUST stop.

Very convenient stop to re-up supplies and enjoy another charming village., 2014-06-15
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

We docked on the south wall east of Lift Bridge in front of the Spencerport Depot and Canal Museum. The 30 power on the pedistals is single phase so at this location smart Y would not work to give 240. The free wifi was very strong and the strip mall shopping center is one block away. Bathrooms and showers are very clean, air conditioned and nice with combo access. The wood fix dock is new and very nice with substantial cleats. The best restaurant in town is GrandPa Sam's Italian Kitchen. On weekends go early or get reservations as the crowd waiting patiently tells the story of the excellent moderately priced food. Forget the Galley Restuarant poor food service, etc.! Walk the clean safe well kept town as there are some wonderfull Queen Ann and Victorian homes on the roads that are shaded by huge trees. We arrived for Canal Days in Spencerport which was two fun filled days, venders, concerts, Belly Dancing(?), and culminating with the tension filled Canaligator Race. Great Fun in Americana personified. Best stop so far. Dock master invited us to stay an extra day(over the 48hrs limit for the canaligator race as we were the kind of cruisers they want to attract (e.g. out of area spending for the local stores). We will stop on our way back thru.
Stopped here 08-17-11 south side west of LB and have 240 30 amps with smart Y. checked the wall on the north side east of LB and it is also dual phase. We had another great dinner again at Grandpa Sam's Italian Kitchen. Got an Enterprise weekend special rental from Greece so drove around wonderful East St. in Rochester and then to Letchworth Park with it's spectacular gorges and waterfalls. Letchworth is a well worth a visit and is considered the Grand Canyon of the East.
Stopped again 06-15-2014 and still rate this a solid 5 stars. Concerts at the Gazebo (west of Bridge on south side)every Sunday evening. All previous notes on power type and locations still applies.

Good for provisioning, 2013-08-25
Captain: , Castine, Maine (2964)

This is another of the free municipal docks on the Erie. There's a nice Tops grocery very close making this a good place to top off your galley stores. There's a laundromat in the same shopping center with three different size machines - several of each. A few restaurants and some very friendly volunteers in the Canal Museum, a refurbished trolley station. We happen to be there the weekend they had their annual Germanfest which was fun. This is a good stop.

Another nice stop, 2013-07-26
Captain: , Britt, Ontario (691)

New dock with Welcome Center, washrooms with showers...and it's free! Docks were a little shallow for our 5'5" draft - we were showing between 5 and 6.5 feet along the dock.

How can you beat free and friendly?, 2013-05-24
Captain: , Buffalo (832)

the Union st bridge tender held the bridge for us as we were traveling east. wonderful docks. Free water, electric And pump out. You will find places to eat easily. Watch the current if you turn around to face east.

Nice Setting, 2013-05-18
Captain: , Rochester, NY (69)

We stayed west of the bridge because we were eastbound and the operator was delayed at his other bridge. Although the east side is nicer, the west is very good. Docks are in great condition and there is a gazebo on the west side. Granpa Sam's, a short walk from the docks, is one of our favorites. We heard from others that The Bad Apple is also very good, but we have not eaten there.

Another Boat Friendly Town, 2012-08-06
Captain: , Brewerton, NY (489)

Nice docking on either side of canal, with easy crossover access via liftbridge. Only problem we encountered was that the Canal Museum and comfort facility was closed up on a Saturday afternoon during the July Canal Days event!

Spencerport Stop, 2011-07-12
Captain: , Huron, OH (176)

We pulled into Spencerport later in the afternoon, after the welcome center closed. The bridge operator gave us the code for the showers/heads. Clean, large facilities. There are at least 3 good restaurants within a 5 minute walk. We ate at Grandpa Sam's Italian Kitchen. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly!

Another 5 minute walk takes you a large new Tops supermarket. Great place to provision.

I can't think of anything to make Spencerport a better place to stop.

Spencerport is the BEST!, 2011-07-10
Captain: , Stratford, CT (658)

This is the best stop we had on the Erie Canal. The helpful volunteers at the Visitors Center, the new wooden dock with power and water on the south side, the wifi, the clean restrooms and shower, the grocery and laundry one block away, 2 awesome restaurants-Grandpa Joe's and Texas Bar-B-Que, the canal towpath trail to ride a bike or walk, the clean wellkept town, the friendly people all make this stop one not to miss.

Nice stop with power. Showers available at visitor center (ask bridge tender for code).

Spencerport Canal Fest, 2009-08-03
Captain: , St Louis (671)

Great stop, tie-up west of bridge on south wall or east of bridge on north wall. Electric 30amp power available on at both locations but only south wall has water. Free pump out on north wall west of bridge. Taste-of-Texas BBQ one block south on main street is GREAT!! The Canal Festival in late July is fun but get there early for dock space.
