Reviews for Spectacle Island Marina
Opening July 1, 2016 - Hopefully by end of July, 2016-07-05

Docks damaged over the winter. I was told by park ranger that they should open up again on July 1. That is two weeks away. I saw the damage. I hope they make it. It is a nice place to spend the day or night and is well protected from wake and wind.

Visited again on July 4. Ranger said he is hoping docks will open by end of July now. Definitely a great place to spend some time. Walking around the island is a must.

very nice view of Boston, 2016-06-30

spectacular views of downtown Boston. the marina was damaged this past winter and there are only moorings available they are however free. the marina closes at sunset although there are outdoor showers.

This Marina has had management turnover, for 2012 and 2013 Mass Maritime will be managing the marina. See

Excellent place to dock or moorr for the day or overnight, 2012-09-01
Captain: , Oriental, NC (55)

Very friendly staff. We stayed there this past Aug 11-2012 so we could have an early start for the Cape next day. Bathrooms are OK and showers are outdoors. Beautiful views of the harbor isllands and Boston's skyline. We paid less than $40 for our 28' sailboat. There are free moorings and anchoring is permitted. The food stand closes at around 6, full info at

Great Views, 2011-07-07

Nice island...however the marina gets rolly when the various ferry boats go by. That is a minor inconvience. The last ferrys leave the island at 6pm and the boaters have the run of the island. It has incredable 360 degree views and is WELL worth the walk up the hill. Has bathrooms that are open all night, but thats about it.

Great Facilities, 2011-01-26

Slips available overnight or you can anchor out if necessary. Check Bostonharborislands web site for summer activity schedule (free live music, compass courses, etc). One of our favorite stops!

Changes are coming, 2010-12-08
Captain: , boston (10)

For the record, dogs were allowed this summer. We brought both of ours. Nice place, trash in/trash out so be prepared. A short hike provides great views of Boston and the surrounding islands

Contrary to an earlier review, Staff is very friendly. And it is Bosport (Constitution Marina). But... Bosport won't be running it next season (2011) as they lose about $20K a year on it. No word yet as to who will be managing it, if anyone.

Awesome place to visit, 2010-07-21

This marina is a must see for the Boston Area.

The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The docks are always clean and in perfect shape.

The Island is a very relaxing place, with lots of activities for all ages.

Great spot..staff, not so much, 2010-07-02

Spectacle Island was built with dirt from the Big Dig. It's very attractive and just a short hop from Boston. Unfortunately, the marina is run by Bosport Dockage, which means you have to deal with a staff that will decide pretty quickly whether or not you're good enough to be their customer, and treat you accordingly. One of the few marinas I've ever encountered which is decidedly not pet-friendly.

They don't allow dogs!, 2010-06-02
Captain: , Boston (601)

It's difficult to cruise when the island doesn't allow pets. I'd like to try it otherwise.

Great views!, 2008-10-03

Spectacular Spectacle, 2007-08-27
Captain: , Boston (13)

This is a new marina opened in 2006. Call on VHF69, or call 617-241-9640. The island has miles of hiking trails, a visitor center, snack bar/grill, and great views of the city and harbor from the highest island in Boston Harbor. Harbor Island ferries can take you on/off the island to other islands, or to Boston. There is a small beach area, and rinse off showers. There is no water or electrical hookup for your boat.
