Reviews for Sparkes Yacht Harbour
good safe marina to leave your boat, 2016-01-06
Captain: , sparkes marina (40)

This is a small marina, open to the west's mudflats ( no waves come in and the sunsets can be spectacular ). The showers etc have been recently upgraded, and there is a pleasant restaurant on site. The staff in the office are very helpful, and its worth discussing your exact requirements with them. You definitely get the impression the staff don't want to rip you off, but to provide a good service. I've had my boat taken out here a few times, for antifouling by Hayling glassfibre company, and there is great co-ordination between the lift guys and the antifoulers so that last little bit under the keel and the cradle cheek places get done. I draw 1.4 metres and can get in and out at any state of tide. You can get your engine serviced here, and repairs done. No good shops nearby for provisioning. Hayling seaschool on site for instruction.
You couldn't ask for more friendly staff. As I was filling up jerry cans before going to the Azores, one started leaking, and the guy on the fuel pump poured mine into one of his, and said bring it back when you return, which of course I did. That's service!
It's very quick to get out into the Solent. If its too windy there, you can potter about for days in Chichester Harbour, which can be quite beautiful.

Good location for access to Chichester harbour entrance

Visitors Berths 'Outside' are best., 2010-08-17
Captain: , UK South Coast (534)

The visitors pontoons outside the marina are really nice - a bit like anchoring with shore access. Showers are perfectly adequate and it's a short walk round to HISC for food/beer.
