Reviews for Southside Municipal Marina
Nice town, very nice marina, 2016-10-15
Captain: , Grand Haven, MI. (32)

If it weren't for the rocking in the slip caused by the wave surge off Lake Michigan I'd give this marina a 5 5 star. Everything else is very nice and convenient to downtown.

Nice town marina, 2016-08-15
Captain: , Chicago, Racine, Fish Creek,Wi (1900)

This is second time we stayed here in the last three years. Fairly nice facilities and staff. Easy walk to town main street. Lots of food choices and ice cream places yum. You can get some wakes from the river and a little surges from the lake but most of the time no problem.

Clean and good areaz, 2016-08-03

7/28/16 Nice area, well kept, docks were in good shape less than 2 block walk to town. Negatives were no protection from waves we rocked all night long and some of the staff had bad attitudes

Very good stop, 2015-09-18
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Clean rest rooms, great location and town. Many restaurants nearby , good walking, Comedy Club Saturday night was very good, interesting dingy exploring,Marina workers not very friendly, fun place to stop and hangout

Good marina, little protection from West winds, 2015-09-05
Captain: , Racine, WI (360)

We experienced an unusual storm on the Lake here with 8 ft. waves and 30 mph winds for two days. This marina has little protection from west winds and waves, we and several other boaters experienced dock lines damaged from the continuous rocking and rolling of the boats. The prevailing winds on Lake Michigan are from the west, if the outer dock was equipped with a wall to block the waves, the marina would be much more comfortable. The staff was very helpful and the free bike use is very nice, the town is great with good restaurants, shopping, bike repair, and scooter rental.

Great marina with Great staff!, 2015-07-29
Captain: , Portage, IN (50)

Easy access off the lake. Two dockhands met us at the slip and assisted us tying up. Free bikes to use, only one washer/dryer ($1.50/each). Short walk to town or the beach. Unless there is a boat tied up along the main dock, nothing to stop the wakes from hitting your boat. Nice wide docks.

Well run marina with very helpful and friendly staff. Stayed for a few days in Aug/Sep 2014. Nice lounge area. Bikes are available to use for free.

Great town!, 2014-08-23
Captain: , Portage Indiana (503)

8-2014 Love this location since it's very close to town and also on the path to the lakefront/beach. Can get a little noisey but we actually enjoyed it as it's the sounds of a busy beach town. Facilities are decent but not nearly as nice as the new building at the North side. Docks are high and in great shape. If you haven't made it to South Haven yet you're really missing out becasue this town has such a great vibe and lots to see and do. Call early they fill up fast

Southside Marina, 2014-03-27
Captain: , Chicago, IL (958)

South Haven is one of those great Michigan summer towns. The South marina is closer to town - shopping, movie theater, restaurants, groceries, beach. Channel can get rolly and make dockage on the South side uncomfortable. Kayak/paddle the Black River several miles inland. There's a mariners museum on the north side of the channel.

Excellent facilities and close to a very nice town

Heart of the action, 2013-08-26
Captain: , Britt, Ontario, Canada (184)

Clean, professional facility. Busy and a little noisy. Some surge felt from lake.

Great place to relax, 2013-07-04
Captain: , Chicago, IL (160)

The location is excellent with the quaint town just a short walk up the hill. Clean facilities. It has four showers, one washer and dryer, several picnic tables and BBQ grills.

Very nice stop, 2013-02-06

Marina is clsoe to everyhting. Waking distance to restaurants, and shopping.

Great municipal marina, 2012-08-15
Captain: , St. Joseph, MI (814)

This is a great municipal marina with excellent facilities and docks - though they are too high for my 36-foot sailboat and don't have ladders! Close to town with eating, shopping, etc. Not much docking help unless you ask for it. Personnel are pretty invisible. Livelier than the northside municipal marina. Beach a nice walk away. Nice strolling on the "boardwalk" along the channel.

South side is the best pick, 2012-04-05
Captain: , indiana (331)

The south side is the best choice if you want close to the action. Town is just up the hill and the beach is just a block or so down. Great facilities and helpful staff. The south side can get rockey even in the basin when the rollers come down the channel.

Great place to stay, 2011-09-25
Captain: , Portage In (70)

facilities are clean and an easy walk to downtown

Nice marina, but a bit rolly, 2011-09-11
Captain: , Cape Canaveral (1081)

We tied up to the face dock. Very clean and well run marina. Got some rolling action from rollers in the bay working their way past the breakwater, but nothing too bad. We liked South Haven and glad we stopped. Stayed three days.

Clean, well kept facility, 2011-09-05
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6425)

Marina staff friendly, helpful on phone and later when we radioed in. Docks in great condition, clean showers / restrooms. Free wi-fi. Short walk to town shops, might want to use your bike to get to grocery store. We were last here over 10 years ago, was great then & South Haven Marina staff have kept it up.

Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

This is the side close to town. Facilities are nice, and the staff helpful. Great town with live music on the river. We were on the wall, but it was still fairly settled.

South Haven is a nice town, downtown is close to the marina.
The municipal marina is clean and a nice facility. Groceries are a bit of a hike.
