Very nice Marina...had a great time. Will definitely be back

No customer service, 2016-09-14
Captain: , North East, MD (385)

We called ahead to reserve a slip and were told to use the online reservation process. We were told someone would be at the fuel dock till 7 pm. We got a confirmation email and proceed to the marina. No one answered Channel 16,no one answered the phone. We pulled up to the fuel dock and no one greeted us. An attendant was in the office playing on his cell phone. Said he has no radio or phone. No one assigned a slip to us and he had to call someone to get that done. Arrived at 50 amp slip when we requested 30 amp. About 1/2 hour after we got to slip attendant shows up with a splitter. Fortunately we hadn't found that out yet and we carry our own splitter.

The attendant handed us a map and said you are slip # and didn't show us or explain where the slip was. Didn't tell us where the bathrooms are or office or anything about the marina.

Dockwa was terrific in handling the situation but we never heard a peep from the management of the marina in the morning.

One of the worst experiences we have had in 4 months of traveling.

A very nice town for boaters

Friendly neighbors, sub-par service, 2016-08-22
Captain: , Milwaukee Yacht Club (10)

Dock crew was poor. No assistance, no experience. The neighborhood was great and the docks in good condition.

2016 Air and Water Show, 2016-08-22
Captain: , Fontana, WI (20)

Reservation and personnel were fantastic on the phone. No issues. Gas dock (and ice) went very smooth after we launched for Chicago. However, they changed our slip assignment before our return, and did not notify us via Dockwa or email or phone. When we arrived to haul the boat out the next morning, the marina was in the boat, towing it out of the slip because they said we were in the wrong slip. Not a great way to end our stay. All-in-all, it's a quaint, clean, cozy marina, that just needs to communicate better.

Not very welcoming, 2016-08-17
Captain: , Michigan City , Indiana (10)

Lack of feeling welcome . No explanation of WIFI
Apparently you need a voucher and we were not offered one . No one available to assist with tying up
Once we found the office , the staff was helpful regarding what to do in Kenosha

All things convenient, 2016-07-31
Captain: , Houston (10)

Great facilities. Friendly people who are easy to do business with. Convenient to town.

After the Storm, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Belmont (10)

Staff at Southport were very helpful and attentive. Nice pool and shower area. Title actually refers to incident 1 mile from harbor the a 40 knot win came out of a distant sort which rolled us over 50 degrees and gave us something to do after an extremely calm evening of little wind

Excellent! close to restuarants in town and very clean marina. Great swimming pool and great work-out rooms.

The best on the West coast of Lake Michigan, 2015-09-13
Captain: , Kenosha, WI (10)

Walking distance to many restruants and bars. Great facilities, pool hot tub weight roomsetc. All the other marinias are half full now, this one is full. that tells all you need to know.

Nice Marina and Surroundings, 2015-06-22
Captain: , Hilton Head, SC (1234)

First time visit to Kenosha's Southport Marina - a bit close to our home port of Waukegan, but decided to visit some friends here and glad we did. Wound up on E dock and found everyone to be very friendly and helpful. Many restaurants w/in walking distance - I can see why so many people make this their home port.

Best Area In Kenosha, 2013-12-16
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (165)

If you stay here you have to go to the Coffee Shop close by. The ship store isn't very well stocked and seems like more of an afterthought. But the showers are good and the place is very clean. I wouldn't rate it up there with Alton Marina or Green Turtle Bay, but I would stay there again.

Best Marina in Kenosha!, 2013-08-06
Captain: , Bloomington, IN (176)

We just spent three days in Kenosha last week. We had only planned a day, but were so impressed we decided to stay longer! Southport Marina is fantastic - pool and 2 hot tubs! Marina staff were very helpful. 3 excellent museums, including the only civil war museum in the Midwest! Good dining choices - the best we found was also closest to the marina - Ashling on the Lough. Great Irish food! Several fun shopping places. Restored streetcar line provides rides to town! The town has spent HUGE bucks (most federal no doubt, in Paul Ryan's home town!) revitalizing a large area that was formerly an AMC auto plant. It's just beautiful! We will be back!

A marina of contrasts, 2012-08-16
Captain: , New Zealand (1087)

We stayed here for a month provisioning our new boat for the Great Loop. The facilities are magnificent and we could not have picked a better place. Molly, who looked after us, is a treasure.

Why not 5 stars? We had some electrical work done. The service provided was poorly done, way over the time it should have taken and well overpriced even though the management compromised on the final bill.

A great place to stay, but get any unusual service work done elsewhere, or do it yourself.

Lots of potential, 2012-05-14
Captain: , Madison, WI (460)

We landed here on Friday afternoon and spent two nights. It became obvious we were too early to appreaciate this marina. They really had not opened, as the pool, hot tub and concessions were still closed. This will be a happening place later this spring/summer.

Great stop-over, 2012-04-05
Captain: , indiana (331)

Excellent facilities and staff. Nice pool and close to town. worth the stop every time.

Southport Marina, 2011-03-07
Captain: , Kenosha, WI (20)

Marina personnel are top notch as is their boat handling equipment and service expertise. In addition to the above, the showers, pool, hot tub, and floating dock facilities are relatively new and are well maintained.

Surprising stop on the way home to Chicago ..., 2011-01-25
Captain: , Chicago IL (133)

Was here in '00 to pick up the new (to me) boat so I never really stopped here - until in '10 put in here as Racine was full ... what a fortuitous stop. The trolley into town was facinating - the hotdog place is the only place for lunch - then go to the "men's store" - no that doesn't sound right - the clothing store across the street for a real trip into all things interesting - the owners are a hoot and if you ever need a bright red paisley tux or bright blue shoes .... this is the place! Fascinating! The museum across from the marina is interesting and there is an all you can eat pizza place nearby - we almost broke the bank there - we can eat a LOT of pizza - facilities are top notch and the local boaters seem to all have a water powered hose take up reel that they bought for cheap at HOBOs - they are really neat! - sold out when I went there ..... GOOD STOP
