Reviews for South Jersey Marina
Great Stop, 2016-10-14
Captain: , Westport CT (170)

Third time stopping here and it remains first class. Very helpful staff, first rate facilities and great dinning choices. This has become our regular stop in Cape May doing the snow bird migration.

Easy in/out, 2016-10-10
Captain: , North Palm Beach, FL (370)

Stayed here 10/7.
We have always enjoyed stopping here on our way south and will continue to do so. Good docks, nice location, easy in and out.

An overnight during transit, 2016-09-28
Captain: , Longport, NJ (50)

Always enjoy coming into South Jersey Marina. This time, however, the dockmaster switched my berth right as I was passing in front of the fuel dock. Required me to back down and maneuver around larger yacht to make the dock. Otherwise, exceptional service and welcoming staff was very helpful once I got into the dock.

Very Nice Facility, 2016-09-27
Captain: , Clayton, NY (55)

Beautiful facility for an over-night stay. Would highly recommend.

5 Star Service, but please fix the pump out!, 2016-08-21
Captain: , Brick, nj (50)

This is a place we will return to, whenever in the area. All the staff was wonderful, but the check in with Tom was more than we could have asked for. In addition to telling us everything we needed to know, he saved us over an hour getting a table at a great restaurant for dinner.

My wife and daughter raved about the bathrooms. They were pretty nice, nicer than home.

In addition to being competent with lines, the (several) dock attendants were always around and provided immediate assistance with trash and diesel. The diesel pumps available at the slips made filling up very easy.

The gas station right across the bridge rents cars. We also got a golf cart from Cape May Carts, which was fun and convenient because we could park in small spaces at the beach where a car wouldn't fit.

The on-site store had a good selection of supplies, and some cool shirts.

The only thing I could ask for would be for them to fix the pump out. I have to wonder if some of the sludge/muck that accumulates around the floating docks (which washes out with the tide) is due to discharge of waste.

South Jersey Marina is Awesome , 2016-08-03
Captain: , Naples, FL (20)

One of the finest marinas and dock staff I've ever encountered!

Great Cape May marina, 2016-08-02
Captain: , Herrington Harbour, MD (150)

I've been staying here for 15 years, and it keeps getting better every time. Office staff are superbly friendly and offer every assistance with shuttles, restaurants, bikes, etc. Dock staff always have been top notch. This time we met Brendan, who knew exactly what he was doing securing lines, positioning us on the dock, handling multiple power cords, etc.

Great location for walk into town, shops, restaurants, etc. The facilities keep getting major improvements and renovation. Really first class.

Will be back, 2016-07-29
Captain: , Wickford, RI (330)

This place has it all. Definitely a 5 star marina. Great staff, fantactic facilities, the bathrooms are something out of a high end Hotel. WiFi, Resturants close by. We only stayed one night, but we'll be back.

Second stay didn't start well, were told we had a starboard tie, but at the last minute they change our slip assignmet to be a port tie. Once in, it is a very nice marina, close to town, with resturants within walking distance. In the morning when we were leaving I needed the dock hands to spring me off the dock due to the strong current, they know how to handle spring lines, and we were off without a hitch.

Nice marina, close to town, 2016-07-28
Captain: , Sassafras River (20)

We stayed there for one night with our 4 children and really enjoyed it. The marina is well kept with lots of flowers and plants, extra outdoor seating and all around relaxing. The bathrooms are beautiful and very clean. The dock hands were extremely helpful. I was having problems with one of my engines making it difficult to dock. The store is very nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint has nothing to do with the staff, but the slip holders on the end were partying and had their music up so loud I couldn't talk with my family. We had to go up and sit by the store just so we could relax. Extremely rude!!

Quaint Little Marina, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Forked River, NJ (114)

I have stayed here in the past, and will certainly stay here again. Very friendly staff. Floating docks. Pet friendly. Courtesy van into town. Highly recommended.

Five-star potential with a few problems., 2016-07-17
Captain: , Charlottesville (265)

Inexperienced dockhand (I contributed to the problem by coming in the wrong way given the current, but getting guidance on that would have been helpful %u2013 the current is strong but manageable). Pumpout is broken (and they don%u2019t expect it to be fixed soon), which is worth a star on its own. But the facility is top-notch (floating docks, private showers that are close to the slips, and the most convenient laundry room I%u2019ve seen in a marina) and close to Cape May. Internet access mediocre %u2013 slow to connect and slow access once connected. The managers are great, right down to arranging dinner for us at a local restaurant (which we loved). Definitely worth a stop, and we%u2019ll be back for sure.

Welcoming, clean, efficient, well maintained, 2016-07-02
Captain: , Wickford, RI (411)

We were here for several nights mid June waiting for the seas to settle down for our passage off shore NJ.
Chris, Amy, and the rest of the staff are all great at running the marina.
Current can make getting into slip difficult, try for slack tide.
One unique feature is a large patio area with comfortable sofas and seating groups. You are welcome to bring your drinks up and enjoy the view, activity, and the company of other boaters.
Good walking into town. Interesting buggy tour and trolley tours tell of area history. Walking mall features good shops and restaurants.

The Best of the Best, 2016-06-23
Captain: , Macatawa Michigan (1074)

We stayed here for 5 days waiting for the seas to lay down so we could make our 2 day 8 kt trip to Jersey City. We have stayed here before but truthfully this Marina just keeps getting better and better. The dock hands are exceptional. Docking can be tricky based on wind and current if, like us you are a single screw trawler with lots of windage (and even if you are not .. saw some twin screws surprised by current). I use the current marker "Cape May Canal, East End" which provides a reading at Daymark R14, where you make the turn into the Marina. Flood tide travels west toward Delaware Bay. Ask the dock hands what the set will be once you know what your current is ... the current makes an interesting turn when it gets to the Marina. We try to come in and leave at slack current, just like in Charleston. Current can be 2kts and up. Chris, the dock master and Amy, assistant dock master know the Marina, excel at scheduling and placement of the yachts in the best position. Communicate your needs and your schedule and your stay will be as close to perfect as they can make it. Ditto the other reviews .. bathrooms resort style, laundry incredibly clean, ships store very good, Cafe very good, restaurants within short walk, docks in excellent condition, fuel all along face dock, and pump out all along face dock. Shuttle to town provided but we rode bikes. Watch weather, the wind can howl through but this Marina is fairly protected. It doesn't really get much better!

Very Nice Marina, 2016-06-20
Captain: , Jamestown, RI (80)

I can second what most of the other reviewers have said. The courtesy shuttle-- basically your own private chauferred van-- was very much appreciated. As an aside (it has nothing to do with the South Jersey Marina) the Ajax grocery is disappointing. Poor selection, high prices. I you have to provision, call Uber and go to the Super Walmart that is about 15 minutes away.

Just About as Good as it Gets, 2016-06-16
Captain: , Hobe Sound, Florida (450)

We've stayed at South Jersey Marina twice - once southbound in late September when Hurricane Joaquin was threatening and there was hardly anyone around, and this time northbound during their shark-fishing tournament when it could not have been much busier. Both times, the staff lived up to the expectation created by their customer service marketing and Tom and Amy made it happen consistently. Complete, convenient, clean, and accomodating - just a fine stop for any boat and crew.

Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1523)

5/20-24/16. My first impression was "welcome to NJ". My initial contact was somewhat abrupt and not very welcoming. The next day I mentioned this to the attending dockmaster and he more than made up for it. Gerrit was most friendly and welcoming and as was everyone else the remainder of our stay. I would give this 5 stars if the pumpout was working. The facilities are very nice. Very clean and modern rest rooms and showers, nice ship's store, and an excellent breakfast/lunch restaurant. The marina also provides a shuttle to downtown.

Great marina, outstanding customer service, 2016-06-01
Captain: , Hampton, Va (210)

5/29/14 s/v Merlin, Hampton, Va.
This is a extremely well run marina, clean restrooms, courtesy van to town and stores. Fuel and pump out at each slip. Will definitely stay on return trip.

6/1/16 S/V Merlin, Hampton, Va
Another outstanding stay at S Jersey Marina on our way to New England, services outstanding, including getting a reservation at the Lobster House restaurant for the crew of 7 boats traveling from Old Point Comfort YC. Exceptional clean marina. Very customer oriented. Planning to stay on return trip.

another 5 Stars

The Showers!!, 2016-05-19
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (944)

Update 5/7/16 - This is still a great stop, run professionally and efficiently with competent and helpful dockhands. Very protected and great location. BUT, the the thing that now seperates South Jersey Marina from almost any other marina on the ICW are the showers -- yes, the showers! Modern, clean, private and almost spa like. I know that be a silly reason to choose a marina, but in the case, you should!

South Jersey Marina is well run, good dock hands (and plenty of them) and very convienent to restaurants and nearby Cape May. We had a little problem with the power not connecting both legs of the 50 amp service, but after a little twisting and turning made full contact. Fueling right at your slip so it makes for an easy and efficient stop. Current can be strong but is managable.

Great Stay, 2015-12-17
Captain: , Bay Saint Louis (161)

Got here right at dark , had good response on radio, line handler on dock, helpful on fuel, stayed night on fuel dock, water and power there, showers and facilities 1st rate beautiful area, lots to do withing minutes of walk. Wish i could have stayed longer.

Try it, you'll love it!, 2015-10-23
Captain: , San Diego (30)

Past season, so restaurant only open F/S/S, but very helpful dock hands and good location. Best showers, heads and laundry anywhere. $3/foot worth the price.

Brief but great stay, 2015-10-12
Captain: , Southwest Harbor, ME (185)

As alway SJM is first class, great facilities, shuttle to town and back, friendly and efficient staff, while in town dine at 410 Bank Street, fantastic meal

excellent marina, 2015-10-11
Captain: , Midway Marina, Port Clinton, OH (729)

This marina earns every bit of its 5 star rating. The finest marina we've stopped at since leaving Port Clinton, OH. I can't say enough about the marina, staff, accomodations and nearby restaurants. I wish I had time to spend a few days here. Great ship's store. Fines showers and restrooms I've ever seen at a marina. Even high tech washing machines/dryers. Gas dock is HUGE. Accomodates the largest of boats quite easily. A must stop for any cruiser.

Soouth Jersey, 2015-10-08
Captain: , Toronto (20)

Spent a week here waiting out a nor'easter on our trip south. Great facility and great people. Very helpful staff. A little pricey but I can can honestly say they are worth it.

Great location, 2015-10-02
Captain: , Milwaukee WI (547)

Stopped here on our way south, 9/28/15 after a couple of bad weather days on the Atlantic. Wonderful helpful, knowledgable staff, great facility to recoup. As reported, bathroom/showers are fabulous - I thought I had walked into the Kohler Design Center.

Restaurant across the channel is ok...pricey and self service. But the fish market is wonderful, as is the bakery. We gorged on wild caught shrimp for dinner and had cherry cheesecake to celebrate a birthday (the clerk even provided the candle). Best part, we had a Packer football party to watch the game.... in the laundry room at the marina with a widescren TV and comfy seating.

Highly recommend this marina.

Concierge Service, 2015-09-30
Captain: , Haddonfield, NJ (144)

Over the past few years we have stayed at several of the marinas in Cape May. We recently spent a week at the South Jersey Marina and found it to be a most enjoyable experience. The staff, under Chris and Amy were extremely courteous and helpful doing whatever was required to make our stay as pleasant as possible. One of the dockhands even went so far as to offer to climb aboard and serve as a deckhand during a particularly difficult maneuver in strong current. His local knowledge was particularly helpful in negotiating an unfamiliar situation.

We would go so far as to say that we received %u201CConcierge%u201D service equivalent to any 5-Star hotel. We are probably higher maintenance than most, and maybe not as high as others, but the staff went out of their way, making phone calls to search for entertainment and even shipping an emergency package on our behalf. This is a team that went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Thank you!

And, as a side note, if you rent a car from Enterprise, they will accept the keys upon departure and work with Enterprise to return the car on your behalf, all part of the exceptional service.

Really Nice Facility, 2015-09-08
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (618)

After a very long run from NY City, this was a welcome surprise. Nurse time visit and very impressed with the entire staff. Every one is eager to help. Award winning shower facility...a must see....only draw back is no pump out. Not sure why....

Nice stop over, 2015-08-25
Captain: , Wantagh NY (581)

Mostly a local fisherman%u2019s location, not to many transient amenities, but good just the same, nice courteous staff.

It's the local knowledge!, 2015-08-18
Captain: , Daniel Island, SC (310)

What really sends this marina to the top of the list is the local knowledge offered by a veteran staff. The Jersey coast and Deleware Bay can be tricky. The guys here know these waters and for first time travelers up to NYC, we found their expertise extremely beneficial.

why no Pumpout?, 2015-08-04
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (20)

We had 4 boats stop here on our way to Martha's Vineyard. I needed a Pumpout but was informed on arrival it has been out of commission. Two boats had to go elsewhere to get pumped out. Manager told me "it may never be fixed". Really? All four boats stayed at Canyon Club for 2 nights on our return trip.

July Cruise stop Over, 2015-07-29
Captain: , Forked River New Jersey (70)

An unexpected nice stop over. the people were nice and very helpful. When we first tied up the staff assited us all the way. Fuel, Eletric, Water and pumpout were all right there on the floating docks. that is the way to do it. when we checked in we got a package of things to do and a cupon for breakfast. a very nice experiance.

Best Marina yet!, 2015-07-16
Captain: , Ocala FL (351)

This has to be the best Marina we've encountered between Stuart and Lake Champlain. The facilities are great, but the staff is truly professional, courteous and phenominal. The docks are kept neat and orderly. I placed a bag of trash on the dock, got something else from the boat and the trash was already gone. This was 10 minutes before they officailly opened for th morning too! The showers are everything everyone has mentioned too.
A definite must stop.
Only drawback is they can't do a pump out while their restraunt is open (breakfast and lunch). Great food and good price there too.

One of the best, 2015-07-13
Captain: , Edgewater, NJ (40)

Stayed there for a two day weekend. Free shuttle to anywhere and very freindly people. The best showers I have ever seen in 45 years of boating!

Excellent.. Well run .... Clean, 2015-06-26
Captain: , New Bern, NC (289)

We stayed for two nights on our way south on the AICW. Lots of things to do in Cape May, I recommend the trolley tour to get the layout of the town and some interesting background history. The marina was excellent. Everything looked new and clean. They provided a free shuttle to take us %u201Cdown town%u201D and then to pick us up again. The staff was friendly and helpful, our floating dock was in great shape and you can hardly beat $2.99 for diesel.
Really nice restaurant, the Saltwater Cafe is on site. Convenient ship%u2019s store on site stocks the items you may have forgotten including charts and cleaning supplies.

Excellent staff, location, and amenities, 2015-06-16
Captain: , Hampton, Virginia (226)

We recently started a multi-year travel plan and decided to make South Jersey Marina our first stop for six months. The marina staff are some of the best customer service focused people we have come across in a long time. They will do whatever they can to make your stay enjoyable and help with getting whatever services you need. The marina is in a great location with about 10 good restaurants within a short walk, a convenience store right around the corner, and two full service boat stores within walking distance. You can walk to the beaches in about 30 minutes, have them drop you off in the historic area by free shuttle, or take a 10 minute bike ride to both. They have a nice ships store and breakfast/lunch restaurant onsite and have fuel and pumpouts easily accessible at your slip. If you're approaching the marina from the Delaware Bay through the canal careful not to cut yourself short when entering the harbor basin. The water is shallow immediately to starboard and you should go all the way up to the #14 red lighted channel marker before making your turn toward the commercial fishing boats and into the marina entrance. For those boats that have difficulty docking you should be mindful of the tide and wind combination. The transient dock has a lot of room for error, but on a busy day with the tide running with the wind it can be a challenge. The dock hands are excellent in helping out, but you should consider your ability during an incoming or outgoing tide, with the strongest movement beginning about an hour after both low and high tides. This is a great marina and we highly recommend it!

5+++ Great Marina, 2015-06-03
Captain: , Bristol, RI (240)

This marina has is all! It is worth the bit extra we paid to be here. We needed rides-complimentary shuttle. I needed a dentist-Chris found one- brought me and picked me up. I needed a pharmacy- pick up and delivery. Upon arrival, dockhands fueled us, set up power cord, attached water hose, took trash, and curled lines. Everything here is well maintained. Employees are proud, professional, and aim to please.
Courtesy and customer satisfaction are number one. The showers and restrooms are new and like mini suites. The laundry room is inviting and takes credit cards. The laundry does everything but fold the clothes for you. Pump out and fuel are at most docks. Very modern facilities. A great restaurant on site-delicious and reasonable. Our server was very pleasant and obviously enjoys her job. It seems that everyone here enjoys his/ her job. The gift shop has a great selection of top gifts and designers. We will be staying here for a few days due to weather and are looking forward to going into Cape May-so much to see and do. Local restaurants are excellent. This is our first visit but will not be our last. Customer service is A+. I would give it higher than a 5 if I could.

Fantastic, with caveats, 2015-05-28
Captain: , Westbrook, CT (453)

Fantastic people, marina, facilities. Caveats are that pumpout is not available until 2:30 PM, after restaurant closes, and shuttle service driver dependent (he was not there when we were)

Everything Perfect, 2015-05-28
Captain: , Suffolk, VA (141)

Stopped here after after the Atlantic leg of a DELMARVA circumnavigation. Terrif service and fsaciities. Staff was there to point us to our dock and handle lines. They hooked up power and generally made sure everything was ship shape. Facilities are superb. Fuel on every dock so no need to move the boat; same with pumpout which they bought to you. Staff even made the rounds picking up trash bags! No loaner car but they were happy to take us "downtown" and would habe picked us up if we needed it (marina is about a mile from the center of town). $10 off coupon for breakfast or lunch at the on-site cafe. As others have mentioned, the shower faciities are better than terrific!

High class operation, 2015-05-26
Captain: , Lloyd harbor ny (125)

The Weber's run of the classiest marinas in the north east. A lot of money and effort has been invested to keep the marina in tip top condition. great breaksfast/lunch restaurant run by the owner's wife. Top notch rest room/showers, proper gift store and competitive fuel prices. Maverick's crew loved the stop over. our Outer Reef 63

First-rate experience, 2015-05-26
Captain: , jupiter,fl (130)

We pulled in during the busy Memorial Day weekend and planned to stay two nights, but are staying for a few more. The staff is particularly accommodating. They moved us from the transient face dock to a slip at a concrete floating dock and can't seem to do enough for us...always asking us if there's anything they can do to make our stay more pleasant. They are very service minded and really seem to care if we're enjoying our stay. Great on-site breakfast and lunch cafe with other restaurants nearby. Great stop!!

Dinghy access, 2015-05-24
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (180)

As transients anchored in Cape May Harbor, and with Cape May being one of the hardest places to secure dinghy access to town, South Jersey Marina was more than accommodating. When arriving at the dock facility a young man meet us and asked if he could help. We asked if there was a dinghy dock and he said to park where we were and go inside to check in. Upon entering the dock masters building we asked to check in and all they wanted to know was who was the owner of the dinghy. No paper work and no charge. This facility was one of the nicest we have seen, and will be back.

Big Boat Marina, 2015-05-15
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (532)

Visited two nights 5-2&3-15, Local Boat Show going on but dock staff took good care of us tied along fuel dock. Facility is definitely aiming for high end luxury yachts. Showers and Laundry win the prize for the nicest we've seen. Dock decking is showing its age. Restaurants and shops close. Cape May is a cool resort town to explore.

Very6 nice, convenient, 2015-05-08
Captain: , Marblehead (147)

Yes, first class service, facilities, convenience. A bit pricier than neighboring Utsch's but you get fair value for the money in both places.

Very, very nice...but some room for improvement, 2015-05-06
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1120)

We're accommodated on fuel dock during marina's boat show (thank you!). Showers are superb as others shared. Wooden docks showing age, and not pet-safe. Pump out was inoperable during entire stay.

excellent Service and luxury for a small wallet, 2014-12-03
Captain: , Santa Maria CV (415)

Great from the beginning to the end! Very courteous dockhand and a marina like a 5*hotel. Moderate prices and everything close to go for groceries, restaurants and marine supplies. safe place to avoid hazardous weather.

What a shower!, 2014-11-11
Captain: , Portland, Maine (845)

Definitely the best marina showers in the US. Only better We have found were in the BVIs at the Moorings marina. Great folks with lots of local knowledge. They helped us plan our trip through the canal and up the Delaware. They have a courtesy shuttle that drove us into town and the grocery. High floating docks that were same level as our deck which was nice.

South Jersey Marina continues to impress, 2014-11-02
Captain: , Kent Narrows, MD (200)

We have stayed at South Jersey Marina every time we stop in Cape May. This time did not disappoint. We arrived late after a long, tough ocean voyage from Jersey City, NJ. The manager was just leaving but stayed on to get us settled. It was Tuesday, October 28th, so there was not much activity. We ate on board. The cafe on site was closed in the morning so we did not experience our usual great breakfast. The heads have been redone and the shower rooms, separate rooms, are spectacular! The staff is very friendly, and was very apologetic because their pump out facility was not working. They sent us to their sister marina across the harbor, Canyon Club, where we met with the same polite, competent staff. They did not charge us for the pump out because of the problem.

I'm coming back, 2014-11-01
Captain: , Daytona beach (60)

Came thru on 9/15/2014 (late on comment). The best marina I've found on East Coast. Fuel and pump out at each slip, high dock height for easy entry. Staff was great. The showers were beyond belief.

Great Place!, 2014-10-07
Captain: , Groton, CT (91)

We stayed at the S.J. Marina during heavy weather on 9/19/14. They graciously accomodated our unplanned stay when we called by phone. Great place - helpful and friendly staff, good diesel price, beautiful spa-like showers, and clean, modern (no-coin) laundry. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to try the restaurant or car service. We'd definitely stay here again.

After three days fron NYC and occasional seas that were big enough to take a lot of energy from us, we made it into this welcoming marina. The dock hands were immediately on our boat to get us secure and set up with shore power. They really know how to make you feel at home and secure.

Awesome Marina, 2014-09-18
Captain: , Geneva NY (10)

We were there 4 days due to less than ideal conditions on the Atlantic. Everything from the staff, to the dock attendants, to the showers were outstanding. We will definately make this a stop when passing through.

Captain: , naples, florida (90)

We have staryed here before so we knew what to expect. This is a top notch facility and we would have been glad to stay the night but were pushing on to get some more miles down the road. Very helpful dockhands and speedy service. And of course, there is the enormous Lobster House next door for you dining and viewing pleasure.

Top quality facilities, and really committed owner with staff who are very helpful. The dockhands were there on our arrival and in no time at all had taken our lines, hooked up the shore power and made us feel very welcome indeed. Nice restaurant for breakfast or lunch and a courtesy truck to take you into the heart of Cape May for restaurants, shopping and other attractions. We'll definately be coming back.

Without a doubt this is one of the best marinas we have stayed in. Absolutely best service, pristine building & grounds & the icing on the cake, shuttle service on demand. Can't say enough about this marina.

A Perfect Stop!!, 2014-07-14
Captain: , Northport MI (405)

Agree with all previous comments. From the moment of arrival to our departure 2 days later there was nothing we could ask for that wasn't met with a quick and curteous response- from the dock hands to the Harbor Master (who provided good info and guidance re: transiting the NJ ICW). Is the best location for visiting Cape May by foot.

Well Run, Well Done, 2014-07-12
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (728)

We stayed here for four days from 7/2 -- 7/6/14 waiting for hurricane Arthur to pass, then for the conditions to be right to go to Sandy Hook or Block Island! Everything the others have said is all true, very accommodating staff, great shuttle service, fuel in all slips, pump out in all slips and the restaurant had good food.

Excellent Facility, 2014-06-05
Captain: , Tarpon Springs (983)

We were there for two nights 30th and 31st May 2014. While more expensive than some other options, the facilities and staff were great. We were picked up by car after a provisioning excursion, and the on site breakfast and lunch restaurant is excellent

Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1796)

Weathered in, stayed 4 nights, May 14, 15, 16 & 17, 2014. Nice Docks & good power, 12-13 feet of water on fuel dock at low tide. T head of B dock was less than 4 feet at low tide. Land facilities are brand new and very nice, bath facilities as previously described are excelent. Diesel was $3.94 for 400 plus gal.

Updated restaurant and bathrooms, 2014-05-22
Captain: , Deltaville, va (101)

My son and visited in April. They new restaurant on site was excellent! They also gave $10 coupon. Bathrooms were tastefully renovated and well done. Dock master and assistants were friendly and wonderful. Fuel at docks and TALL floating piers; fender mid ship on docking.

We enjoyed the C-View Inn few blocks away. There is a Wawa nearby. The Cape May beach is about 1.5 miles down the Street. We plan on coming back in the Summer!

Captain: , Port Jeff (54)

We spent two weeks in April moving a sailboat from North Carolina to New York. We encountered unseasonably cold weather and engine trouble and arrived in Cape May chilled and wornout. The folks at South Jersey Marina were a godsend. They were so welcoming and helpful it put us immediately at ease. They also had a lovely apartment that we rented giving us a heated rest and recovery. We got our boat back in order and were re-energized to complete the trip after our stay. Great staff, great facilities (really a spa like bath) and easy walking to good food, including the restaurant on site. Wish everywhere were like this.

All of the below plus..., 2013-10-17
Captain: , Wickford RI (200)

Watching snowbirds dock here is the best show in town. Be aware that although this looks like a protected little cove, the tide flows sideways through these slips with a good deal of speed at mid tide. Let the experienced and very professional dock hands board and do their work, they have seen it all and know their stuff.
The fuel dock is long and very accessible, and everything good said below was true on 10/17/2013 as well as the diesel price of $3.97. Very friendly office staff, helpful with tips on dinner and town. Cape May is a great place to take a lay day and stretch the legs. Many boats are just stopping for the night on the way N or S. They miss a great little historic town.

South Jersey Marina, 2013-10-02
Captain: , Quoset Daviseville Naval Yacht Club (250)

Great place, I am always concerned with water in Cape May but this is directly in the bay and just keep going, plenty of water and well marked. Close to many restaurants, great staff, lots of help that want to do everything for you.

Restaurant in Marina is great for breakfast or lunch, fairly priced, great food, good help, and marina gives you $10 off certificate for trying it.

Fuel $3.97 on October 2, 2013. Little high but free pump out and ride to town in their van for restocking or just visiting, offsets price of marina and well worth the convenience and service you receive.

great stay, 2013-09-28

Great marina, staff and charming little seaside town! We stopped here on our way south for two nights, received great info from Tom including two good restaurant recommendations, The Merion Inn in Cape May and the Lobster House right next door.

Great marina, great dining, 2013-09-21
Captain: , San Diego (60)

We have stopped at So. Jersey Marina several times. They are very accomodating and the facilities are new and top notch. The on-site restaurant is now called Salt Water, open for lunch and dinner, and we had an excellent breakfast there. The well-known local restaurants nearby can have very long wait times. Because of that, we tried the Mexican restaurant right across the street from the marina called 5 de Mayo. We have cruised Mexico for several years, so we know what good Mexican food is supposed to be and just didn't expect to find it in New Jersey. We had an outstanding dinner at 5 de Mayo. We had the beef fajitas and can highly recommend that item. It is BYO, but they will happily bring you a glass for your beverage. Mom does the cooking, and her daughters are servers.

South Jersey Marina, 2013-09-18
Captain: , Fair Haven, N.Y. (10)

Forced to stay here because anchorage was crowded and we were exhausted. The channel between 1 & 2 to get there is narrow, make sure you stay in the middle. Plenty of water, dock hands great, facilities are all updated and resort like. Free shuttle to town and back. A bit pricey, but definitely worth it.

Cape May NJ, 2013-09-17
Captain: , Sandwich (692)

Cape May is a bucket list must! Make South Jersey Marina your port. This is an outstanding marina facilty. It's home to big game fishing fleet and they cater to transients. Dock Master Tom was most accommodating and his team of dock attendants are the best. BathShower hotel quality. Laundry facilities on premise. Shuttle service to shopping/restaurants. Onsite restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. Adjacent to pizza (Lucy Bones) and seafood restaurant/market (Lobster House). Walking distance to Cape May beaches and Washington Street Market. Also 3 mile walk to some of the most beautiful conservation/state park reservations.

Captain: , St Augustine, Fl (467)

After reading all the good reviews we decided to treat ourselves to what was one of the best marina experience. Upon arriving we were greeted by not one but two dock hands to take our lines. We are a catamaran and they tied us up to there vere long and very nice feul dock. It is a floating dock but it sits up about 3-4 feet from the water which is not like any floating dock we every encountered. it made for getting on and off our boat very easy.
The Showers were as advertized. Great!!. The customer service was exceptional. Their shuttle took us to the supermarket and gave us a quick tour of the town. When Chris the dockmaster asked us if there was any thing we needed, my wife responded that we were looking for a particular brand of beer but did not find it in town at the liquor store. Chris new of a place outside of town and outside their normal shuttle area but did not hesitate to call them to make sure they had the beer, get the price for us and then drive us there and back again. Folk's That's customer service. No excuses about policy blah blah.... Just if you need something we will do whatever it takes to make you a happy customer. They also gave us a 10 coupon to redeem at hteir new restuarant on site. The food was excellent and we highly recommend that as well. They are a bit pricey for what we are used to being from florida, but in line with the area, and the fact that they have to make their money during the summer makes sense. So thank you Chris and every one at SJM for a great time, we will stay longer next year. This Marina Earned our business for life.

Great Marina - Highly recommend, 2013-09-07
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (350)

We stayed at SJM for 5 days over Labor Day. As everyone else says, the staff is extremely accommodating, even driving us to the beach because our rental car wasn't ready until the next day. SJM is withing walking distance to several restaurants, we recommend Lucky Bones. The Lobster House seemed more like a tourist trap and had over an hour wait. The marina has great facilities including outdoor tables for dining, laundry, and a bathroom that rivals that of a 5 star hotel. The ship store has most everthing you could need, too. There also is a WaWa withing walking distance. We would definately stay here again.

Excellent Marina!, 2013-08-02
Captain: , Atlantic Highlands, NJ (33)

We stopped here last week on our way up from Annapolis. Great Spot. We came in close to slack tide so we avoided any curent issues. The staff is great, and the facilities are excellent! Close to town and for boat parts, Tony's Marine is maybe 200 yards north (past the lobster house and the gas station). On our yearly migration, this will be on our list of stops.

Excellent marina and staff, 2013-07-31
Captain: , Apex, NC (214)

We stayed one night a few weeks back on our way through Cape May. The docks are all floating, and getting into the slip with the help of their dock staff was very easy, even with a current. They have a very good breakfast resturant on the premises, and the slip included a 10 dollar credit there. The best thing about South Jersey, was the bathrooms/showers. These were easily the finest bathing facilities we have ever, ever encountered on the east coast. Firstly, there were very clean, one might say spotless. The couters were granite, the shower stalls private each with it's own door. In each shower there are two shower heads. One is the typical multi-position water pik type. the "Big" one is the "Here is what it feels like to stand in a rain shower" type head. I don't know why more marinas don't get this simple fact: Have excellent bathing facilities, and you will tap into the long-term cruiser crowd. We don't get slips that often, but when we do, having a very nice shower/bach experience is on the top of the list of reasons to pick one spot over the other. I posted some photos over on our eBoatCard, see for yourself.

First rate facility that doesn't rest on it's prime location! Recent renovations made a great place even better. My first overnight visit was 2009 and we fell in love with the place. My two kids aged 8 and 11 prefer here over the "other marina with the pool!" Tom, Frank, Dan, Dick and the whole crew really go out of their way to make this a special destination.

Outstanding!!!, 2013-07-26

The newly renovated bathouse is designed like a spa! The staff is courteous, friendly and will go above and beyond what you would expect. The entire facility is extremely clean. Newly renovated restaurant offers delicious food for breakfast & lunch. Shuttle service is available to take you into downtown Cape May. Truly a great place to visit.

Great Potential, 2013-07-19
Captain: , Sea Cliff, NY (1022)

All of the marinas in Cape May have their drawbacks. This marina has some strong currents, and care has to be taken in the narrow entrance past the commercial fleet. During our stay in July, the jelly fish population had exploded, causing a thru hull blockage and no A/C for the night (one of the primary reasons we were willing to pay for a marina was to have A/C during the heat spell). Other boats did not have our problem, but we were the only transient docked perpendicular to the current. Try to stay on the long dock running parallel to the current. Those jelly fish are easy to get sucked into your systems
On the plus side, Chris is great and tries hard to please. The showers are very nice and clean, and the location is perfect for exploring Cape May.

Try to arrive at slack, otherwise we suspect current is a bear. Dockhands are obviously experienced with handling boats here. Be sure to check out the laundry - the machines will send you a text when they are done - really. We will be back. Rental cars available above the office. Close to everything.

Outstanding Marina - Best Showers on the Eastern Seaboard!, 2013-07-11
Captain: , Severna Park, MD (10)

Rick Weber has done a stunning job of rebuilding the South Jersey Marina, which sustained a fire last year. We stayed there one night each way on a sail from Annapolis to Long Island in June. The showers are nicer than those in my own home! The Laundry Facilities are also great (the book swap basket was much appreciated. The piers are in great condition and the young men helping folks dock are very pleasant. The marina store didn't have much in the way of toiletries (and be prepared to pay big for laundry detergent), but they are in the process of opening a small cafe. The marina also offers a complimentary shuttle into town for a trip to the grocery store or just the chance to wander around the Cape May Historic area. While we were waiting for a pump repair, the guys at the store even brought out some big cushions to make our seating on the covered porch more comfortable. The service was just amazing all around - we will make a point of stopping in whenever the winds carry us to (or past) Cape May.

Excellent for groups, 2013-07-11

I brought 11 boats from SNTC here in June. Fantastic! Chris, Tom, Rich and the entire staff are the best anywhere. Clean, new BR's, great Cafe, local transportation avail, help with bike rentals(Village will pick up your bikes at the marina at the end of your visit.) So beautiful and clean.

"Tom" found us space on July 4th weekend. Spent 7-5, 7-6-13 here. Walked into Cape May, lots of things to see and do. Lots of shops and stuff. The facilities are immaculate. All New! Went to Lobster House Rest Next door and got a supper "Take Out" order and enjoyed it onboard. Phoned in the order and it was ready when we walked over to pick it up. Dont miss South Jersey

Incredible slips, great team, new restaurant and showers that are nicer and cleaner than the ones in my own home. I stopped here for (sadly) only one night on my way down the coast. I had never been to Cape May before, but I will certainly be back. The place is a true gem. Tom, the dockmaster, helped me secure a table a very busy local restaurant (whcih was fabulous). I cannot say enough about the quality of SJM. Go there. You'll be glad you did.

Wonderful Marina!, 2013-07-06

The nicest bathroms of any marina. Nice docks with lots of helping hands. Courtesy schuttle, laundry facilities that will text you when you cycle is complete. Nice lounge area over looking the harbor. Restaurant on site many others close by. Deli coming, ship store is well stocked. Love this place.

Fabulous Marina, 2013-07-04
Captain: , Atlantic City, New Jersey (10)

Not enough stars available to rate this facility. Our family stayed at South Jersey Marina for 2 nights in June. The staff and crew provided wonderful service from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The Marina has brand new beautiful, clean bathrooms and showers. along with a brand new large laundry facility. They were putting the final touches on the onsite restaurant, so we did not have the opportunity to try it. Special thanks to Chris, Tom and Brian. If you are looking for the best marina in Cape May, then you need to stay at South Jersey Marina.

Great Place, 2013-07-02
Captain: , Beaufort, S.C. (570)

The Dockhand at South Jersey went above and beyond to make docking easy for us. He helped us with our lines, including coming onboard to manage the rings on the pilings. He also helped us get our dinghy situated. The marina has amazing bathrooms/showers upstairs (think upscale hotel) and multiple washers and dryers. There are many restaurants close by. If you prefer to cook, you can buy fresh fish (or eat in the restaurant) at The Lobster House. Cape May Point State Park is a 9-mile round trip and was an easy bike ride on flat roads. The trails at the park pass through areas where you can see many birds. There is beach access.

Stayed here coming and going!, 2013-07-02
Captain: , Sayville, NY (13)

We were fortunate to have 3 weeks this year to cruise, and we headed for the Chesapeake. After an overnight run from Fire Island Inlet, we arrived in Cape May Harbor early Sunday morning. We'd always stayed at Utches, but they told us to call back later after other staff arrived. After 26 hours from NY, I wasn't keen on waiting around another hour. South Jersey Marina was ready and waiting for us. What a wonderful surprise! The management is right there every day (former USCG, BTW), the staff is outstanding, and the facility top notch. I even had the guy at the register offering concierge style services for everything from bicycle rental to massage services! Everything top notch, and an excellent and affordable breakfast place to boot. Highly recommended.

On the way back home to Montreal, after few months in the South, it is great to stop here, great service, fair prices, brand new washrooms and showers and a lovely city. Tom at the office is a great source of informations. Heavily recommended.

Great marina but the laundry..., 2013-06-07
Captain: , Castine, Maine (2964)

This is a great marina with professional staff. It is the closest to downtown Cape May, about a 1 mile walk. They also have a courtesy van and they can drop you off and/or pick you up. Cape May is a lovely village with the beach just a couple of blocks away. There are lots of restaurants in Cape May and nearby with one on site that is opening soon. But that's not the coolest thing.

Gals, our husbands have this weird belief that we love to do laundry when in fact we hate laundry but like wearing clean clothes - guys will never understand. The laundry facility here is unlike anything I have seen and can only be called State of the Art. They're nice large machines, new, that work well. Put your quarters in and go. But there's also a website:

You go there and can see a graphic of each machine indicating which are free, which are in use and how many minutes are left in the cycle. Yes, you no longer have to schlepp back and forth to the laundry room waiting for a free machine. And you can check the site to see when your load is done. But it gets better. You can even have a text sent to you when the cycle is complete.

But I have one more laundry peeve, those quarters. You gotta remember to have them and it always seems I'm one short to finish. They took care of that too. Simply insert your credit card, select your options and you're done. No quarters needed. Kudos for making a boring chore easier!

So definitely come here for the location and staff and town but make sure to bring your laundry.

Lots of good but room for improvement .., 2013-06-06
Captain: , Key Largo (152)

Always a nice stop and they are busy working on new restaurant (after last years fire) .. And very much reliant on transient clients . Have added some very nice things like shuttle to downtown Cape May. And good advice on best restaurants. But quality of service, despite good intentions needs some work .. As does fuel pricing and fuel pumps. Pumps very slow except with booster. But booster can only be operated if no one else is fueling. So if your taking on 1000 or more be prepared to wait.

The Place to Stay in Cape May, 2013-05-26
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

We were very impressed with Chris Booth the Dockmaster, and his staff to make our stay here very enjoyable. We have stayed at another marina in Cape May, but this one is substantially better.

First of all the offer a 10% discount for Loopers, which helps with their high season rate. We had to stay 3 days waiting on a weather window, so the discount was most appreciated. This marina is within easy walking distance to many restaurants, which you cannot say for the other guys. It is pet friendly as well. They have just opened their new showers/bathroom/laundry which are now as nice as anything you will see on the Loop. They are also finishing the work for a cafe right on property.

It is an easy walk to downtown Cape May with many things to do there, plus the beach. There is an Acme Grocery Store right on Lafayette St. and you can call the marina and they will come pick you up with your groceries and bring you back to your boat. Great service with a very courteous staff!!
All in all a great marina for your stay in Cape May.

Great Stay, helpful staff, 2013-05-17
Captain: , Yorktown, VA (952)

We were in Cape May 5/5-5/10 waiting for a window along with many other boats. The winter rate was still in effect at $1.95/ft. We were concerned because of previous reviews had indicated they were so expensive. They are in the process of making many updates including beautiful shower rooms, laundry with a wide screen TV and a notification system that will alert a cell phone when loads are finished, a café, and deli. The docks were very nice and staff very attentive. The two dock hands worked very hard in the wind and strong current to get us tied up. We would highly recommend this marina. They were full because of the boat show over the weekend and many folks waiting on the weather and still very helpful and friendly. We had planned to anchor by the Coast Guard Station but it was full and we were concerned we would not able to get enough scope. Very relieved to be at the marina. We walked downtown; the trolley tour and the museum were nice, enjoyed drinks at the Ugly Mug downtown, and Lucky Bones across the street from the marina. The Lobster House next door sells a Cape May Boil in the can ready to cook. We brought it back to the boat and enjoyed a fabulous meal along with the freshly baked bread they sold. Much more economical than eating on premises.

New showers and facilities now ready (5/2013). They fit us in even though they were full with a boat show. Dock hands very helpful in getting into a tight spot on the T-head in 10-15k of wind. Easy to walk to town and food. Had a van that took us on a tour that was really nice.

A must stop again in the fall.

Captain: , Westport,Ma (700)

Third time here for us and always a great stop. Dock hands are good at their jobs and pleasant as well. Lucky Bones is very good ( the best pizzia ) I don't recomend the Lobester house unless you want food from a huge kitchen served under stainless plate covers and not worth the $$. The marina staff goes out of their way to be helpful such as driving my wife to CVS and the grocery store AND the liquor store too. We will be coming back down the coast in the fall and look forward to Cape May and this marina

Very nice transient docks - floating. Experienced dock staff fueled us at out slip. There was a boat show in progress and we enjoyed going to that. We had dinner at the Lobster House restaurant right next door - excellent. This has been our "go-to" place in Cape May for over 20 years - since 1990.

Easy access to long fuel dock. Strong currents but there is plenty of friendly competent dock hands. Be rigged to hang fenders horizontally for the fuel dock. Clean rest rooms. Easy access to several good restaurants. West Marine close by but is one of the smaller stores. There is another chandlery that caters to the commercial boats close by as well as a ships store on site.
Overall, a very high speed low drag operation.

We draw 9 feet. It doesn't look like there is a channel, but there is. Stayed here 4 times now; nice clean head, helpful staff & cheap diesel. Drawbacks: longinsh walk to town, but there are no closer marinas; as you approach with the (strong) current behind you, you can lose steerage - so pay attention to which way the current is running.

Only option for 5.5' draft, 2011-11-25
Captain: , Portsmouth RI (275)

After a bad night in the anchorage, this was the only option with our 5.5' draft. The channel is not marked but the instructions were excellent. We waited for slack tide to avoid the current. We got a side dock on the channel with fuel at the dock which was convenient. The dockhand was new and inexperienced but I saw their staff wrestle a boat around a dock and they new what they were doing. No newspaper or fruit as reported by others. Clean bathrooms, no lounge or courtesy car for supermarket. Right in town.
Rather pricy but the only game in town.
Good for the North East but compared to Marinas further south, expensive and lacking.

Highly recommended for marina accomodations, 2011-08-23

One of the nicest and best run marinas we've encountered in 1000 miles. The only negagive I would offer is that it is a tight canal with lots of large (125 ft+) yachts around you. Current can be very strong at 4-6 kts. when running full. Twin screw powerboats or boats with thrusters should have no problems, but single screw sailboats should exercise caution with the strong currents and crowded harbor. The facilities were very nice with clean, private and updated showers. The dockmaster was very accomodating and helped us find a discount that we qualified for.
Great location for food and marine supplies. Great breakfast restaurant attached to the marina. Get there before 0800 and have a full big breakfast for under $5. This marina was recommended by dockmaster at Canyon marina when he discovered we had too much draft for him (5'3").

Visited 6-17-11 for two days with my YC. Staff very accommodating. Strong current but multiple dockhands there to assist. Nice atmosphere and near all the fun that Cape May offers.

Staff pleasant and professional but rather indolent. No showers unless you pay to stay the night (although we asked politely, no effort to accommodate us there). We didn't have a great warm feeling about the place.

Great marina and great location but bad currents, 2011-07-03
Captain: , Beach haven NJ (510)

One of the best marinas you can find. Wake up to find a newspaper and fruit placed on your boat by the local staff. You can walk to the Lobster House for dinner or early breakfast and fuel up before departing. Facilities are superb with clean bathrooms and a gretat ships store. The only negative is the extreme current but the staff is very helpfull in helping you get underway.

Chris, the owner and his staff are the most professional I have experienced in a long time. Facility was very clean and kept up. Helpful with places to see and eat at as well. I will make it a point to always stay here when delivering yachts up and down the east coast.

Just overnight stay. Lobster House restaurant next door very nice. Water was very warm so I had to clean Jellies out of A/C strainer twice. Will hope for cooler water when we come back

Depths in slips less than 6 feet ran aground on entry into transient slip. Power bad 208, cable good. Heavy current plan arrival for slack tide. Near restaurants, good marine store.

One of Cape May's best, 2010-06-14
Captain: , Palm Coast (792)

This is the third marina we've used in Cape May and is very much on par with it's sister marina the Canyon Club. The docks are first rate and the marina is maintained like a 4-star hotel. All the dock staff are great. It would have gotten the fifth star if we (along with many others) didn't have to be moved to allow for them to accept some late arrivals.

The location is excellent for visiting the town of Cape May and of course the LobsterHouse which is not what it used to be.

If you would like to stop in for a while and visit Cape May, stop at this wonderful marina. Fresh fruit in the AM, plus a newspaper. A great restaurant next door, a superb breakfast place on site. Taxi inot town from here for all of Cape Mays attractions.

Well kept marina (floating docks) with well loved flowers and plants everywhere). Nice, helpful staff with a great marine store on site. Bring your bikes as it makes it easier to reach the beach and town mall. The little diner on site is great for breakfast as well. No pool on site (see Canyon Club) but this location is better suited for get to the beach and town without crossing the canal bridge. We will return here again.
