Reviews for South Annapolis Yacht Centre
A barebones marina but it served our needs just fine..., 2015-09-18
Captain: , School of Hard Knocks (30)

We stopped here for an overnight during a three-day charter out of Rock Hall. We were on a 48' Beneteau and I was worried about the depths getting through the drawbridge, but we were fine. There's plenty of water all the way up to the docks. We were on the outside though, not sure about the slips on the inside. The marina is very basic. There was no one in the office when we arrived and we never spoke to anyone while we were there. My CC was charged the next day though, so they obviously knew we were there. There are, apparently, two sets of bathrooms on the property. A very small single near the office, and a men's and woman's on the western side of the property. We didn't know about the bathrooms on the western side when we were there, so I can't comment. The one near the main office is very small and seemed reasonably clean. The walk to Annapolis was doable, but we took a water taxi most of the time due to the heat. Water taxies go by very often, so it's easy to grab one. Overall, it's a little basic and a little far from the city, but as long as you're not expecting a five-star resort, you'll be fine.

Great Staff, 2014-10-29
Captain: , Dover, DE (101)

We stayed here for a few weeks over the 2014 Annapolis Sail Show. Excellent location and amazing staff. The staff is very focused on customer care. We are in our last two months of preparation of a 5 year globe trot and had many boxes sent including engines and other large palleted items, they stored and helped load them into the boat. The marina is in the process of a refit and very exciting things are in store according to those we spoke to. For now (late 2014) it is a fixed dock and while adiquate will be more than adequate with the new refit floating docks and planned facilities.

Big improvement, 2014-06-20
Captain: , Aventura, Florida (330)

I stayed here about 7 years ago and since then there has been big improvements made. They are still working on the marina but for a short stay it was ok. The staff was helpful and friendly and we had no power issues.

Work in progress, 2013-08-21
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1135)

This is a combination of 2 marinas merged into one. The folks here are wonderful! We stayed for the whole month of July and we were charged $1,100 all in. The heads are adequate and clean. Each day we were there someone was working on improving something at the marina. Given a little more time, this could be a great marina. And a short walk to Eastport and Annapilis.

Marina undergoing changes, 2013-07-08
Captain: , Austin, TX (346)

South Annapolis Yacht Centre now includes Petirni Marina and Sarles Boatyard. Stayed here several days while working on boat. Some docks have been repaired but the one we were on needed some work. Water is good and at every slip. Could use some dock lights. WIFI near office and nice porch with table and chairs to use it, but WIFI did not reach boat. Restrooms and showers were clean but basic. Good location in Eastport part of Annapolis. Seems a little expensive at $3/ft but then it is Annapolis. Appears to still be a work in progress as the new management works on integrating the facilities and improving them.

Marina in Progress, 2013-05-11
Captain: , Marblehead MA (40)

Stayed here for a week on our trip north. Much work is going on to upgrade the facilities under the direction of new owners who are combining the old Sarles and Petrini yards and marinas. The location is great for accessing Annapolis and Eastport and I would expect that in another few months, my rating would be 5 stars

Was my go to place in Annapolis, 2012-03-15
Captain: , Great Falls, VA (1092)

I have spent a lot of time here, docked, hauled out, you name it. I was always pleased. Nothing fancy, but compared to other Annapolis prices it was always much more reasonable and a closer walk to downtown then the more expensive spots.

Owner John Petrini passed away, so I am unsure of what the future holds. Those who hated it before may love it now, those who loved it may miss quirky John. Either way, reguardless of past experience it might be worth checking out.

Bad experience, 2011-10-05
Captain: , Sodus Point, NY (688)

We had phoned and reserved a month stay here, $15/foot for the whole month. The day we arrived, they wanted to change the rate. Or, we could leave for two weeks and he would still charge the month rate. He said the boat show was coming and he could get more during the show. Agreed, but we had a deal. Then he whined about a $53,000 tax bill that he couldn%u2019t pay. Not my problem. In the end, he agreed to let me stay there, but made us feel like we were cheating him and wanted to charge a 33' boat for 39'. Guess my dinghy ate too much. We found a new place to stay for the month. Will never go back.

Close to town & Services, 2011-08-17
Captain: , Madison, Ohio (400)

This is our second time staying at Petrinis and we would definitly stay here again. This year we had the boat hauled and the bottom painted and the hull Awlgriped. They did a great job, the painter is a real perfectionist and John Petrini was always there supervising and making sure everything got done.
The marina is close to the local bus service and there are many resturants within walking distance.

convenient to Annapolis, 2010-06-21
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (1134)

This is a family run boat yard just insided the Spa Creek Bridge. New docks, good power and water pressure. John is always around to help with lines and welcome. It is not elegant but a lot less expensive than the marinas closer to Ego Alley. Easy walk to down town attractions. We've stayed here several times and will be back.

Adequate Low Cost Marina, 2009-10-04
Captain: , South Portland, ME (537)

Petrini is a working boatyard first and a marina second. The service is not great although the docks are in good condition. It is lower cost than most marinas in Annapolis but not by much.

A down-home owner-operated faciality with an owner who cares, 2009-06-13
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (1301)

John Petrini's family has owned and run this yard/marina for generations, and John's always on-site to greet visitors, take lines, and lend a hand. This place is not elegant, but its prices are lower than the surrounding marinas and it's especially well located, just above the Spa Creek Bridge--an easy walk to Ego Alley, Fawcett's Boat Supplies, and Eastport. We're always happy here and will certainly be back--as long as John is there to lend a hand!

Slips for Cats!, 2008-09-23
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (103)

Nice quiet spot just inside Spa Creek Bridge. Working yard. One of the few spots to find a slip for a catamaran. Also good place to have any work done. Refurbishing docks (9/2008)

Old Eastport, 2008-08-15
Captain: , dana point (11)

Old school marina/shipyard run owned and run by 2nd generation Petrini. Slips 50-60 feet+ available. Cruisers welcome. My steel boat has been there since November and has had some excellent repair work done. Walking distance to downtown Annapolis and Eastport shops. Good protection from winter storms.
