Reviews for Solomons Island Yacht Club
Rugged Pier, Great Location, 2017-08-12
Captain: , Stuart FL (778)

It being Saturday noon, four members were on the pier, offered greetings and took lines when we pulled up to the T-head. Clubhouse was rebuilt in 2010 so looks great and is up-to-date. It's a short walk to all that Solomons Island has to offer. Reciprocity extends to members of other clubs in the YCA Registry. Does get a bit rolly with an easterly wind.

Excellent little yc if you are a yc member, 2017-06-05
Captain: , YORKTOWN, VA (383)

Small town yacht club with nice facilities for an over night stay. Nothing fancy if your looking for a pool or something like that. Take advantage of one of their club dinners if one is scheduled the night you visit. They are good and not exspensive. Just nice people.

Private Yacht will accept other Yacht Clubs, 2016-09-17

Stopped on 9-16-16 for the night. Nice members and well located in heart of Solomon's. 12' high tide Deep water at Tee Head. Very clean facility.

We stayed here in early August and loved it. Easy in and out with much current and the staff is very nice. The Lighthouse Restaurant is a short walk with great food. We will be back.

The review is not true. Our hours are 4:30- 7:30 every weekday. he failed to check in or pay. we called and he told us he would be there when he was ready. we waited 40 minutes for his return. when he entered the club he was intoxicated and beligerent. we told him he had to leave and he became more angry. the police were called and he angerly put $200.00 on the bar. the $200.00 was returned to his club with a letter to his commodore. We pride ourselves in being a very friendly club but we expect anyone who visits to check in and pay during open hours.

Shocking Experience, 2016-08-02
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (71)

I was shocked by my bad experience at this club. I had a pleasant stay before, so I called by phone to reserve a slip. I asked if I should call someone when I arrived. I was told that was not necessary. I should just tie up which I did at about 3:30 PM. I tried to check in, but everything was locked tight. After 3 1/2 hours at the dock having seen not a sole, I went to dinner at about 7:00 PM. I got a very rude call at dinner at 7:37 to say that I had pulled in, jumped off the boat and left. Not true. After dinner, I went back to pay. The bar was locked, but there were a couple of people in drinking - maybe for too long. A confrontation occurred in which I was told I was a dead beat. A guy at the bar with a beard who refused to give me his name started pushing me around. I asked the charge for the slip and was told it was $200 which was clearly extortion. I left the cash on the bar and left the dock. I will not go there again. I know many of the members would be embarrassed. If you take a chance on this place, be careful who you deal with and get names. I have been to marinas all over the world and not been treated that way.

A Regular Stop for Us, 2016-07-31
Captain: , Annapolis (434)

Stopped here on or way south again. Al put us in a great slip at the end of the dock - good view of all the activity in the harbor. We partook of happy hour at the bar since it was Friday and talked with several members. All the facilities are excellent. Resturants in the area are plentiful, including the infamous Tiki Bar.

SIYC rules allow reciprocity, including transient slips, for visiting members from yacht clubs with similar facilities such as clubhouse and transient slips. The reviewer on 2014-09-26 was from a "virtual" yacht club that has none of the facilities that meet our requirements for reciprocity. We're sorry for any confusion or misunderstanding. Our other reviews attest to the high quality experienced by other visitors.

Very pleasant members, 2014-10-19
Captain: , Clayton, NY (655)

We stayed here for one night and the facilities were very nice. The dockmaster had just gotten a new hip so he was not there to meet us when we docked. The bar opened at 4:30pm and we checked in with one of the members. We got a free drink a piece with our dockage. They also have free laundry available, but you have to get the key from one of the members.

VERY friendly, helpful members!, 2014-10-15
Captain: , Annapolis (451)

Have reciprocity with EYC so we stayed here Cloumbus Day evening on our way south. A bit exposed on the face dock in strong SE wind but not too bad. Great bar, super friendly, welcoming members. More than one offered a ride to the grocery store (1.7 miles away). I declined, wanting to get some exercise walking, and on my way back the next day one member saw me walking, stopped his vehicle and asked if I was SURE I wanted to walk! We had a great time chatting with folks at SIYC and would love to stop back here on our way north.

Small yacht club with some slips and iffy service., 2014-09-26
Captain: , Annapolis Md (280)

On our recent cruise to the southern Chesapeake Bay we stopped here on our way to and from Annapolis Md. We were always welcomed by the members.
However, on a recent weekend we attempted to get sllips for 3 boats. Not only did we not get slips but the dockmaster was rude to one of our group and angery that we were taking him away for a party. Needless to say we will stay elsewhere the next ime we visit Solomons Island.

First time at a Yacht Club, 2014-05-22
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach, FL (361)

We enjoyed our two night stay here. We were on the face dock and rocked a bit from an east wind.
Solomons is a cool town with many interesting attractions. We even found a great stylist, Joanna, at the Hairport Salon where I got a haircut and my wife got the works. We were very happy with her work.
We enjoyed a bicycle ride and dinghy ride in the back waters.
Nice stop in a nice area.

A great Yacht Club, 2013-09-29
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1306)

The folks there could not have been any nicer. The docks are in great shape and the grounds are even better. They always include you in whatever event is happening and make you feel at home.
Thanks to Al for helping us tie up and greeting us.

Captain: , N Fort Myers, Florida (516)

Very nice marina with helpfull friendly staff. Not a day goes by without someone asking if we need anything. They do not answer by VHF, but are readily available by phone. It is a little exposed, so wave action is present, but not bad. The restrooms are immaculate, and there is an onsight bar open most evenings, and occasionally food available. Fixed docks in good repair with plenty of power and water, but no pumpout. Our second visit, two months later was like coming back as family! Every one is very friendly.

Friendly and welcoming, 2012-08-23
Captain: , Amelia Island, FL (507)

SIYC is a private yacht club with reciprocity. We happened by when the club was holding its monthy pot luck birthday party to which we were invited. The club people we met were very outgoing and helpful. It's a great stop over spot going either north or south with excellent in/out from the Chesapeake Bay. The bathroom facilities are spotless. The clubhouse boasts over four hundred club burgees from around the country. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Yacht Club, 2012-05-17
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1448)

SIYC welcomes members of other yacht clubs. Nice face dock but could be a bit exposed if wind is blowing directly into the harbor entrance. Great bar! Several close by restaurants. Very friendly club.

Best I've been to., 2011-09-26
Captain: , New Smyrna Beach, Fl. (200)

I have never seen a friendlier yacht club. Must be a yacht club member, from any other yacht club, including mine, which is in Fl. Ofered rides, has a list to hand out of area interests. Just the best, is all I can say!. Stay there, you won't be disapointed.

Great friendship, 2011-04-04
Captain: , Bear, DE (255)

More of a yacht club than a marina but adequate accomodations. You won't find a friendlier atmosphere on the Chesapeake. Our second stay here snowbirding and the folks make you feel at home.

Friendly Place, 2010-07-06
Captain: , Solomons Island, MD (20)

The friendliest yacht club on the Chesapeake Bay and possibly on the eastern seaboard!

Members make you feel at home, 2009-09-06
Captain: , clear lake texas (435)

The members are friendly. The facilities are easy in and out but it gets rolley at times. Only club I have seen with a church in front.

Private Club, 2009-06-04
Captain: , New Rochelle, NY (1000)

If they have room and you're a member of a recognised yacht club, this is a very nice place to stay. Close to restaurants and friendly members make this a winner And the price is right!
