Stay to the left in Neale Sound after you pass the last red daymarker. Don't turn right to go into the marina until just before it - there is a shoal to your right you can't see the front point of which is marked by a white no wake buoy. There's plenty of water if you do this.

Reviews for Shymansky's Marina and Seafood
Great Resturant with some docks, 2016-08-14
Captain: , Lottsburg, Va (264)

Called them at 6 after long day on the river. They had space so we headed in. The entrance is well marked at the mouth but then you're on your own. Generally 6-11 feet, low tide; but the entrance to the basin at Shymansky's was a mystery. Go almost to the bridge then hard to starboard, hugging the face dock. Not knowing this little tid-bit, we found a sand bar about 40 yards from the entrance to the basin. The docks are old and in our case the electricity was more than we could handle, more accustomed to the lack of amps. After the inverter displayed the over amp fault twice, we turned on the generator. The owner had run new service to this outlet and was concerned that we had a problem, I think genuinely. The resturant is old school, friendly staff and great food, you can't leave hungry. I'd go back for the food, especially now that I know how to approach the dock. I know there is a 1st rated place further up the creek, but the 17 foot fixed bridge would have required us to lower the mast, not worth it for one night.
The marina gets 2 stars the resturant 5 for the food.

Go for the restaurant, 2016-06-21
Captain: , Stafford, VA (1077)

The docks here are in terrible condition as are the bathrooms/showers, but the restaurant is great. Particularly good is the Sunday breakfast buffet from 8 am to noon. You can tie up on their T-head for free for this. If you're staying overnight, just tie up on the T-head and go in the marina office and pay. They won't answer the radio and there are no dockhands. This is generally an easy tie up though.

This isn't a bad marina when you visit Cobb Island.

Not so great, 2014-12-20
Captain: , Sneads Ferry, NC (351)

We called in the morning and told them we'd be there in the afternoon, and would call when we got closer. "See you then", she said. We called when we were about a mile away and were told "See you in a few minutes." When we got there, no one came out to take a line - we tied up on the T dock. The lady at the desk had not heard we were coming but said it was OK to stay there. We signed in and went to take showers - cold water! Mr Shymansky himself said "No one told me we had transients coming" and he was doing work on the water heater. It seems there is no internal communication here. Also, the docks are covered with duck poop - sticks to your shoes and smells bad. Then, the seafood dinner I ordered was so over-salted I couldn't continue. NOT a recommended stop in my log.

Awesome and kind services from Capt Mike Patterson, 2014-08-25
Captain: , Cobb Island Maryland (10)

As a sailor to this new area of Cobb Island MD , I visited Shymansky's Marina and Seafood. The owners Butch and Pat were so very helpful with my boating needs as well as the entire staff. The restaurant is excellent quality with great seafood specialties and service (Best soft crabs anywhere). I enjoyed the location and people so much it is now the location of my new slip and call it "My home on the water". Thank you Shymansky family and crew! Captain Mike Patterson

Ok Docks and Great Restaurant, 2013-10-13
Captain: , Quantico, VA (261)

The docks are in need of some serious upgrading, but the staff are frienidly and the restaurant serves excellent food. There is a little grocery store which has a small selection of ships stores. Nice stop over. Watch for high spot on your approach.

Now offers Boat US discount, 2013-09-06
Captain: , San Juan Capistrano, CA (120)

Stayed one night and learned that they just signed up with Boat US but is good for 10 cents per gal fuel. Lady at counter said no dockage discount but gave me free electric worth $10. Good deal for a night if you want to keep your anchor dry.

Great snow crab legs, 2013-08-28
Captain: , Stafford, VA (305)

We have only tied up to go to the restaurant. We tried to check in at the marina the first time we came, and found that since we were not asking to plug into shore power, there was no need.
A pound of snow crab legs at most restaurants is two clusters. Here it is three, and they are very good.
The diesel fuel pump is the slowest I've every experienced.

We Still Like It, 2013-06-19
Captain: , Washington, DC (149)

Not at all fancy, but safe and convenient and quite reasonable at $1 a foot plus a free cocktail at the restaurant. We always plan to eat at the restaurant, crabs or oysters, which are a favorites with the locals. Walk across the bridge for basic groveries and post office. Good staging spot for run into DC or out the Potomac to Solomon's. We had the best fried oysters I've ever eaten last night.

Great spot, 2013-01-26
Captain: , Kent Narrows, MD (20)

We were towed in by BoatUS with engine trouble. Tow Captain, "Chappy" put us on the T head right as the sunset, turns out he's the deisel mechanic as well. We had a fine meal, the best soft shell crabs ever, prices were great, people were friendly. Chappy came back in the morning and found the problem but didn't have the part. We got a ride back home and returned the following weekend, (more soft shells) boat was fixed up, price less than $50 for the repair, Butch Shymansky didn't even charge us for the boat being there all week. What nice people.

Service and Food very Good - Crabs in abundance, 2012-10-17
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (980)

This is a small local eatery but the waitress made us feel at home. I had never had a shelled crab, and our waitress brought one out ( no charge) and gave me a lesson on how to disassemble a crab.
We ordered the house special, everything very good, the cole slaw should not be over looked.

A good pit stop, 2012-05-30
Captain: , Pasadena,Maryland (510)

Marina was rugged, but they had diesel fuel. Price was right a $1/ft including power. Resturant was very good with reasonable prices. Good one nite fuel stop up/down the river.

A good brunch on Sundays, 2011-10-12
Captain: , Westport CT (261)

Had brunch on an October 2011 Sunday. Good for the price of $8.95/person. Included lots of items from eggs to meats and fruits etc. Was surprised that coffee was additional. All and all a good deal (and the only game in town.

I still like it, 2011-09-20
Captain: , Solomons, MD (464)

The docks are still rough but solid. Best to still just tie up to face and go to store to check in and get help. Will answer the phone, but I've never heard them answer the radio. Only change in the year since we were there is you nolonger get a free drink at the restaurant. Very quiet and peacefull is why we go back. Restaurant has good food for the price and staff is always friendly.

Don't bother asking for dock help!, 2011-08-01
Captain: , Germantown, TN (181)

We stayed here one night and asked to have someone catch our lines - UNBELIEVABLE! Tossed the kid our midship line and told him to tie us tight to the piling He tied the end of the line in a 'tight' knot - leaving about 20' of line between the piling and the boat. The docks are fixed and the wood is pretty rough with lots of splinters. The food was good for the price but its a very casual diner.

Boat Repairs, 2010-07-07
Captain: , Swan Point, MD (85)

If it is broken, Chappy can fix it.
Note - The gas pump is just north of the Cobb Island Bridge on Neal Sound and the diesel pump is on the south side of the bridge at the entrance to the marina.

Shymansky's Marina, 2010-06-30
Captain: , On the water (1501)

For $1.00 per foot it's just fine, actually enjoyed staying on the face dock. Didn't see any 50 amp power, only 30 amp. As noted head towards the bridge before doubling back to the face dock and fuel dock, it gets pretty shallow if you head straight towards the fuel dock! We couldn't get anybody to answer the raido which was no big deal, after tying up just walk up to the convienience/liquor store and pay them.

HAs Diesel, but that's about it. , 2009-07-30
Captain: , Looking for a Home (180)

stay to the left of the channel until abeam of the first dock, then turn hard to starboard and run back along the seawall to the fuel dock. The dock is in pretty bad repair. Don't expect any kind of assistance at all from the "dockboy" other than dumb looks.

So so, 2007-07-09
Captain: , Woodbridge, VA (137)

If you draft more than 4 feet, you may want to stay on the end of the T head. There are a couple of good seafood restaurants at the marina and across the street. The staff is friendly. The heads should be avoided as they rank as some of the dirtiest I've ever seen. This could be because of the large volume of small boat customers that use the boat launching facility.

Do Not attempt to use the westernly channel as it's very shallow! Enter and exit only from the Wicomico.
