Reviews for Shipwright Harbor Marina
Reasonable place, 2014-08-08

Fair prices, sheltered, clean bathrooms.

Good staff and clean place, 2013-07-30
Captain: , Ruskin Florida (704)

We are having our boat hauled for a month while out of state and the folks here are great. Very professional and knowledgeable... they have a pool and lots of mosquitoes.

Great Short Term stopping point, 2012-09-06
Captain: , Live-a-board (350)

Recent buy of my S/V and need a place to stay for 4-6 weeks as we prepare for cruise. Staff here is awesome. Relaxed, helpful, friendly. The slips and conditions are easy to get in and out of. The bathroom is clean and tidy; nothing fancy but I don't need fancy. Easy to get some food nearby. Only downside is the mosquitos are bad this time of year.

Been here 21 years -- Update, 2012-07-26
Captain: , Vero Beach (527)

Excellent bad weather shelter. Friendly Staff. Clean bathrooms. Showers a bit tight. West Marine Nearby. Deale Hardware very well stocked.

Update. We now liveaboard here during hurricane season. Staff changes/additions have led to a marina with an improved "personality" and the standard of cleanliness has been raised. (New office manager was a long term full time cruiser). New chief mechanic has his act together.

Data sheet is wrong there is no fuel here and there are no significant currents in this area.

Great marina for live-aboards, 2012-05-30
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (578)

If you need to commute to Washington, DC, or just looking for a good all-around marina, consider Shipwright Harbor. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, and, if your lucky to get an outside slip, very easy docking. We are on the outside in a 40' slip with about 7' of water at average low tide. Very well portected although strong southerly winds can rock you a bit. We usually come here for extended stays between our cruises. Depending on how full up the slips are, you can usually negotiate a very reasonable deal for stays over a month but less than a year. Restrooms are adequate. Pool is pretty nice. Four decent restaurants close by--two within walking distance. Grocery and liquor store requre a car.

nice place for a one night stay, 2011-03-07
Captain: , baltimore (168)

We stayed here in a transient slip. The marina is great and the people were nice. We walked to that Calypso, which was a little longer of a walk than we expected, and the bikers of Deale must've been there that night, cuz there were tons of harleys parked out front, but it was a good meal and I like harleys, so it was fun for me to see the bikes. The bath house back at the marina was nice and clean, and the next morning when I needed some engine oil, the shop guy was "johnny on the spot" with oil for my starboard engine. All in all, it was a nice quiet place to spend the night, and they were well equipped to handle my boating needs.

Fine Marina, 2008-04-02
Captain: , Belhaven, NC (88)

Easy access, nice facility
Great food nearby
Thanks Georginne for all of your help.

Decent, 2007-04-15
Captain: , Chesapeake (47)

Marina was damaged by Hurrican Isabel and repairs are still not finished. Most docks have loose decking from repeated removals by less than stellar electrical contractor. Nonslipholders are allowed to use the pool and jam it and the parking lot. Slipholders arriving early Friday evening or mid morning Saturday are out of luck.
Restrooms are kept clean, but swimmers keep the floors wet and treacherous. New fellow runs the yard and and this seems to have improved things quite a bit. Office people and most of the yard staff are friendly and competent.
West Marine is within walking distance. Nearest restaurant (Calypso Bay) is a good bar. Good restaurants are a long walk into the village of Deale. Petie Green's and SKipper's. Papa John's does/did? deliver.
Transient's are accomodated in temporarily vacant slips.
New breakwater for Deale makes this a harbor of refuge.
Marina hosts several slip holder parties which give SWH a sense of community that other Marinas don't necessarily offer.. Prevailing winds in the summer keep it reasonably cool here and it is an excellent lee in the winter.
