Reviews for Shell Point Marina
Good yard service, 2016-06-28
Captain: , Tampa (20)

Had my boat bottom painted. Excellent service and good price. The crew did a careful job. Also had some prop work done which was done promptly and at a reasonable price.

Jason has done careful work turning this boatyard around. In addition, he was very easy and flexible to work with.

What a nice place, 2016-03-23
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (20)

I draw five feet and used brail method turning to port into the chanel to the marina. Favor the mangroves. I came in on a rising tide which helped backing off the bar. Once at the marins, favor the docks, there is plenty of water there.

The yard is clean and well organized. There is no trash blowing around. The livaboards are quiet and helpful. The docks are new, no stray voltage can be measured at dockside. Yard workers are abundant and knowledgable. Service work is easilly obtained from on site venders. Reasonable fees and good work are important to these professionals.

There will soon be a waiting list to obtain a wet slip in this lovely spot just off Tampa Bay.

There are no close bars or restuarants to walk to YET, but the Town of Ruskin is growing and the pavilion with a kitchen and grills is available and clean.

Great Service and Price - Boatyard, 2016-01-13
Captain: , Gulfport Florida (10)

Great customer serivice. Jason, the new owner has turned this boatyard into a very professional yard, providing prompt and courteous service. Had our bottom (38 foot sailboat with 5 foot draft) sanded down, new barrier coat near waterline where needed, and two coats of paint. We preferred hard and he offered Petit Trinadad 75 Copper; looked great and improved performance was noted immediately. Best part, price was $42 a foot for entire job, close to 30-40% less than other other boatyards in the Tampa area. What was clear to us was the management by Jason, he took care not only of his customers, but his staff as well.
Channel Entrance: This is a skinny channel, and with a 5 foot draft we needed a high tide (1.1 feet or more) and winds not blowing the water out of the bay. On the channel running south from the beach towards the mangroves stay close to the red channel marks especially between the southern marks 6 and 8. After mark 8, and approching the mangroves, turn left and keep about 1/3 of the way closer to the green marks than the mangroves. Depth at dock area is 9 plus feet.

Good yard for prepping & launch, 2015-05-04
Captain: , Miami (83)

Spent a month here living aboard on the hard & in water as we launched. Jason, owner, was very easy to work with. A bit dusty so no painting here. shopping requires a car. GRATE covered area with 3 Bar-B-Qs! NICE people.

Terrible!!, 2015-03-11
Captain: , Annapolis MD (10)

Worst customer service this side of Italy. Jason is rude, pushy, and anti-helpful! Take your boat anywhere but here.

The two first comments were before I took over, the place is looking great and is now full. To the 1 star rating, this fellow was an interesting cat. Not to put anyone down, but I believe he is just mad because I couldn't and wouldn't agree to his terms, I follow EPA and FL rules and laws and I can not and will not go against them. I'm sure at some point he will get in trouble for the way he wants to do his, not it just can't be here. We are great plac to do business, have the lowest prices, and the newest equipment. I store over 250 boats and am one of the biggest bottom job providers in the bay, that many people can't be wrong.

Under new ownership and management, 2015-02-16
Captain: , Apollo Beach, FL (163)

The marina, previously under different ownership and management, apparently had some very poor service and conditions. It is now in great shape, with friendly and helpful staff, and competitive rates. You can go to nearby Little Harbour and get a much more posh experience, but will pay significantly more.

OK marina, but nicer places near the area., 2014-09-16
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (1178)

This is more a boat yard with a few wet slips. Gravel drive creates lots of dust. $9/ft for monthly compared to $11/foot for a nicer marina nearby that has floating concrete docks.

Full service marina, 2010-03-23
