Reviews for Seymour's Boatyard
Good stopover, 2017-07-28
Captain: , City Island NY (100)

Planned to anchor out but got in late and stayed at seymore on a Monday night. Staff was very helpful. Facilities were good but there is no shower. Single head in the basement of the house behind the dock. Mooring we used was right next to the channel but the traffic was slow so not to much wake and none we noticed late at night, It is a fun town with several nice restaurants and a good bakery. Free dingy dock if your anchoring!

A great stop!, 2017-07-06
Captain: , MV Red Head (3106)

Northport is a wonderful little town to spend time in. There are restaurants and shops and a beautiful waterfront park. The town is extremely dog friendly. Make sure to stop in at the Copenhagen Bakery on Woodbine Ave and the PetPort pet shop on Main Street. We used one of Seymour's mooring balls and had a very pleasant stay. There is a launch that is included. We didn't use it as we took the dinghy down so the dogs could swim at the great beach across the cove but we saw it running all day and into the evening. A great option if you don't want to launch your dinghy. The staff was friendly and always helpful. We missed the Rock the Dock event by one day. It's a great fundraiser for local charities. This year was for Paws of War which supports training rescue dogs to be service animals for veterans - it's a win for both sides of the leash. We'll be back and hope to catch the event next time!

Nice town for a night , 2017-07-05
Captain: , NYC - Liberty Landing (236)

Sailed up from NYC for a night away and grabbed a morning @ Seymour's without much notice. $55 for a 48' boat. Quaint little town worth the walk on Main Street.

Great Mooring Field. Wonderful Service , 2017-06-20
Captain: , Confetti, Kadey Krogen (1619)

Stayed two nights. Great, fast launch service. Beautiful area. North port is a great village - nice hardware store, great Little shops, bakery and laundromat within walking distance.

Fantastic Service, 2017-05-30
Captain: , Naugatuck Harbor Yacht Club (10)

My Wessterbeke konked out last night in Northport Harbor. I caontacted Seymours, within an hour Dave Weber was on the boat, diagnosed and fixed the problem. He towed me into the yard, and did a clean, fast and efficicent repair. I was so pleased I bought additional fuel and a tee shirt. Seymours is a yard that brings back memories of days gone by. Family owned, people who genuinely care and take pride in their work. Seymours is quite simply top notch.

Pricey but Nicey, 2017-05-29
Captain: , Stuart, FL (1019)

Tom Law, DORADO, 05/29/17
Had to get off the sound due to strong winds and 3-5 foot seas every 3 seconds. Assigned a mooring and directions to it. The moorings have a nice stick float on the pennant. Easy to pick up. Quiet and protected harbor.

Pricey: $45/night for up to 39 feet; $55/night for over 39 feet. Price includes launch service.

Northport is a nice little town. We attended the Memorial Day Parade, Ceremony, and speeches. Had lunch at the Ritz Cafe which was great. Recommended!

extended stay due to weather, 2016-10-14
Captain: , Hull, MA (580)

Friendly staff, fuel, water ice. We also walked all over town as we were there 4 nights. Beautiful town waterfront . One day we walked to the stop and shop to restock, and took a cab back for $11. Another day I walked to the laundromat and visited several shops. Well stocked hardware store met our needs to. I would give them 5 stars, but there were no showers.

Excellent Marina and Village, 2016-09-12
Captain: , City Island (20)

Seymour's offers prompt launch service with extensive summer hours. The town itself is very pretty, offering several good restaurants, including Rockin Fish, my favorite. A brewery, concerts and a Saturday morning farmer's market on the waterfront. The only things lacking are showers and a grocery store nearer to the harbor.

Comfortable Mooring Field, 2016-08-25
Captain: , Macatawa Michigan (1144)

We stayed at Seymour's on a mooring ball for 4 days. Waiting for the Sound to lay down, we enjoyed the very protected and ample mooring field. The pendants are easy to pick up with sticks attached, even for our high bow trawler. At 50' we had plenty of swing room (we really swing) in a full mooring field. The launch service was prompt and the folks skilled. There are no showers and one small bathroom. No laundry. Town pump out at dock. Good places to eat in town, we loved Rockin Fish (ate there twice) and Copenhagen (breakfast). Town nice to walk, including neighborhoods and we had fun on family Tuesday (streets closed with food and music). Short trip from NYC ~30nm. Great stop!

Beautiful harbor and excellent launch service, 2016-08-10
Captain: , Marthas Vineyard (506)

Great Launch service, you call and they are there before you can tie your sneakers. Wonderful location at a big municipal park which the whole town seems to enjoy. Lots of restaurants and shops, some quirky, beautiful harbor and polite boaters who hardly ever wake you. We enjoyed our 3 days on a Seymour's mooring in this lovely town. I never figured out where the grocery store was, reportedly about a mile. Never used the Seymour's washrooms, which are in a basement in an adjoining building.

Great Service - Worth the Price!, 2016-07-21
Captain: , Newport, RI (265)

First time in Northport and we will be back. Tried to anchor north of the mooring field with no luck, to much eel grass. We grabbed a mooring from Seymour's Boatyard and could not have been happier. Great service and prompt launch operators. The launch brings you right into town next to the park, perfect for dog walking or access to main street. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Northport Gem, 2016-07-10
Captain: , Rye Boat Basin (407)

We reserved a transient mooring ball for one night during the Jul 4th weekend. The reservation process was fast and efficient, the transient moorings are very easily identifiable (safety orange color), and getting a launch was almost immediate (they had 2 on service). Very close to the village center. 5 MPH no wake zone ensured a smooth night. Thanks!

Nice Village - Good Service, 2016-07-07
Captain: , Southport Queensland (300)

Great service from Seymours in reserving the mooring, directions and from the launch service. Easy pickup moorings are in very good condition but at $55 per night including the service is $30 per night more than Port Washington however still good value. Nice village with ample restaurant choice. We tried the Japanese restaurant Benkei which was almost as good as it gets.

Great Overnight Mooring, 2015-10-14
Captain: , Jersey City (506)

Helpful and friendly staff guided us to the mooring. Launch service still running through 6:45 PM gave us time to get into town. Very cute town with small shops and many restaurants. Lots of outdoor dining and a public park right at the launch landing means Northport is very dog friendly.

If they want that 5th star they need to deliver oysters or bread or pastries to the boats on the moorings. ;-)

Excellent Location, 2015-09-04
Captain: , Hull, MA (720)

Seymour's offers protected moorings for $45/night with launch service from 8AM to 11PM. It is a 5 minute walk to the downtown village that has many shops, restaurants, hardware store, drug store, laundry, salons, etc--a full service town within walking distance. If you want a great lunch or breakfast you have to go to Copenhagen Bakery - Yum. There is also a great water front park.
Seymour's also has deisel and gas at there dock.
Great service and a convenient location

Great service, 2015-08-17
Captain: , Boonton (75)

Friendly and punctual launch service. Close to a lovely town and great restaurants.

We'll Be Back!!, 2015-07-27
Captain: , Port Washington, Ny (20)

This place was awesome. Great town, well run shuttles, great local advice. SO when the snooty yacht club doesnt let you stay - don't fret! Seymours Boatyard is better. (Who really wants a pool when they have a boat anyway???)

Excellent Service, 2015-07-15
Captain: , ft myers (20)

Developed an oil leak from pressure switch and was towed in by TowBoatUS on a Sunday. First thing Monday morning Dave Seymour, Harbor Master, inspected our engine and confirmed the problem. Had a part overnighted and as soon as it arrived on Tuesday he installed it and serviced our engine. We were on our way again that afternoon. We couldn't be more pleased and grateful for Dave's excellent service.

Great Experience, 2014-09-20
Captain: , Norwalk (293)

We came unannounced to Northport during the Cow's Festival. Whilst we could not get into the City docks, Seymour's staff saw us turning around and hailed us and offered us space on the inside of their fuel dock for the day. We jumped at the opportunity and found the dock staff very helpful and pleasant. Daily rate was very acceptable. Next time I will call Seymour's first and give them the business if they have space. Their site says they have a max LOA of 60 ft. However they fit us in NP and we are 76 ft.

Northport is a great town, 2014-09-08
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (701)

On 9/7/14, we got a mooring from Seymours. Though it was a long way from the marina, a 15 minute dinghy ride, it was worth it o be in Northport. It is a very appealing town with many great restaurants and a beautiful waterfront park that is dog friendly. It is as nice a town as we know of.

We were able to leave our dinghy at Seymour's dock for the short walk ionto the great town of Northport. We liked it a lot.

Great service, 2014-07-07
Captain: , Northport (10)

Seymours employs a friendly and attentive staff. The mooring field is well laid out. the tender service is fast and reliable and the location is ideal for strolling through Northport village. it is highly recommended.

great people, great mechanic, 2014-05-27
Captain: , stamford, ct (20)

oil pressure sender switch broke over memorial day weekend (of course). dave the manager diagnosed it, and dave the mechanic, who was just stopping by over the weekend to get something, agreed, and figured out a way to jerry-rig a jumper cable to stop the alarm from going off. engine performed beautifully all weekend. part ordered today, and we'll be all set by this weekend. very friendly group, gave lots of advice, very helpful and cheerful. good problem solving, nice mooring field, friendly launch operators. a great place to explore northport from. we'll be back.

Crowded harbor, fun town, 2013-09-28
Captain: , New York, NY (470)

Crowded harbor/mooring field. Dock hand directed us over radio to pick up an orange mooring, which looked a little wimpy but held our boat just fine in 25 knot north wind. However, the mooring field was a bit rolly in those conditions. Friendly, helpful and knowledgable young kid operating the lauch. The charming town of Northport is a 2 minute walk from the dock. Lots of restaurants and shops on the main drag, plus a nice park on the water. Taxi ride to the Long Island Rail Road in Huntington was about $20 each way. Didn't see the showers or facilities.

Mooring Field is Great, 2013-09-08
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

We stayed here twice, once on our way east out Long Island Sound, and once on the way back. The free water shuttle (the driver's appreciate a tip) from their orange guest Mooring balls is prompt and courteous. We really enjoyed a wine bar in town (called The Wine Cellar on Main) that lets you enjoy a fine bottle of wine, and order from one of 5 restaurants who will deliver your hot meal right to the wine bar. For $55 this is a great stop.

Great stopover, fine moorings, 2013-08-09
Captain: , Montreal, PQ, Canada (560)

Moorings located in huge field, easy launch ride into town. Lots of restaurants, shops and boutiques within walking distance from huge waterfront park. Very nice town to take a break, although groceries are too far for walking.

The best gas dock!, 2013-07-12
Captain: , Edgewater (321)

Seymour's has been around for more than 100 years. The staff at the gas dock are professional and friendly. Occasionaly they have an overnight slip available. They almost always have excellent moorings available and their launch service is excellent. From there it is a 1 minute walk to the foot of Main Street.

As friendly as they come, 2013-05-07
Captain: , East Coast (184)

With the 2013 season finally underway I am happy to report that, not surprisingly, Seymour's Boatyard continues to live up to its well-deserved, excellent reputation. Dave went above and beyond to accommodate our group for an early season getaway.

We will be back, again and again.

Nothing not to like here at Seymour's, 2013-02-15
Captain: , marina del ray (70)

Very friendly staff & extremely accomodating. We felt like we were home. The launch service and Seymours dock is in a great location to visit the charming town. Such a great choice of many super places to eat - can't wait to return here!

Always best marina for service and repairs!, 2013-02-13
Captain: , Seattle (10)

Friendliest most competent marina on north shore of Long Island. A must see turn of the century marina very well maintained and clean. Dockspace available for overnight stays, or mooring rentals too. We left our boat here for a night out in Northport!

Terrific spot, 2012-10-19
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

All the other reviews are right -- this is a great stopover. The town is terrific. We felt like we had just fallen into the 1950s. Charming, nice and very friendly people and food that was well served and well priced. The mooring field is BIG -- but the launch was very accomodating and professional -- which is saying something given he had to drop us back at the boat with a storm howling with 30+ mph winds! All in all, a great stop.

Seymour's is the best, 2012-07-25
Captain: , NYAC Pelham NY (171)

Great service well maintained moorings with functional pick-up sticks and plenty of line. Promplt launch service 8a to 11p and til 12a on w/e.
Very helpful, very friendly
Great atmosphere and aesthetics
Northport is a gem of a little town
We will be back
bewar of town dock...not a float and at least 8ft tide.

A Bit of New England across the Bay, 2011-09-18
Captain: , mamaroneck (140)

We are out of Mamaroneck, NY so it is a short hop across the Sound. We have stayed at Seymours four times now, and will certainly be back. Mooring reservations have never been a problem, but it is always best to call ahead. The launch service runs from 8 am to 11 pm and the operators are friendly, professional and attentive. The town boasts Shipwreck, a great breakfast/lunch diner. We had dinner at Bistro 44 on the back patio under the electric heaters; it felt like we were in Europe. Of course there is the ubiquitous hardware store that carries everything that you can ask for and the local boutiques for the ladies. All in all it is a very pleasant overnight stay and we will certainly be back.

Excellent Fuel Stop, 2011-08-11
Captain: , Marietta GA (416)

Stopped briefly to take on diesel and was impressed by the whole set up

Dock hands were effective on the radio and in handling lines. Floating dock is an easy approach that is generally parallel to the current, which is not strong.

I didn't research prices but they seemed typical of this area at $4.69 in Aug-2011.

Excellent tender service and great location., 2011-08-03
Captain: , Mamaroneck,NY (46)

stayed overnight to explore the town. Main shopping street is practically across the street from the marina, so an easy walk to ice cream shops, restaurants, bakeries, etc. Tender service almost immediate. Very professional. Mid-week we had our choice of mooring locations. Moorings are mainly north of the marina, across from the Yacht Club.

Outstanding, 2011-07-29
Captain: , Rowayton (10)

As welcoming and professional as it gets. 5 Stars is far to few for this remarkable, full service marina. We will be back in a heartbeat. sincere thanks to everyone.

Feels like we're home, 2011-07-24
Captain: , Mount Sinai, NY (61)

Extremely accomodating and friendly staff. We needed a 1000lb mooring and they made sure that one was available for us with plenty of swing room. Tender service is outstanding and the villiage is charming with plenty of shops and great places to eat. We look forward to coming back again and again.

Good service and great location., 2011-07-20
Captain: , Mount Sinai (140)

Picked up a transient mooring to check out Northport. Great launch service and Seymours dock is in a great location to check the town out. They also have block ice and not just cubes. Would have given five stars but, there were no laundy or shower facilities availible. Still I'll be back when I come through the area.

A bit of coastal Maine, 2011-07-06
Captain: , Bristol, Rhode Island (2741)

Picturesque. Very friendly. Reasonable charge for mooring. Quick response from launch. Only reason they get four stars instead of five is for lack of shower.

Great Customer Service, 2011-06-14
Captain: , Port Jefferson (10)

The location is superb. Beautiful sunsets. Yatch club member here, but always stay with Seymour's when I visit Norhtport. I have to say that the tender service is delightful. Such a great group, full of personality, and they remember me every time I come. The crew really makes the place. Will be back as soon as I can!

Seymour's is picture perfect., 2011-01-15
Captain: , New York Harbor (495)

I wish I cold post a photo I took of this place last year.
Looks like it belongs on Maine, like a hollywood set designer built it.
Top rated.

A true Gem in the Marine Service Industry, 2010-10-16
Captain: , New York (88)

Great moorings, Well maintained, Tall pick up buoys, Very friendly staff. Nothing not too like about Seymour's.

Mooring Ball, 2010-09-07
Captain: , charleston (771)

a neat town - we used the mooring ball and the water taxi service - all were very well done - limited facilities at the marina - in fact there is only one unisex bathroom and I don't think any showers - still the location is great and the town it is adjacent to is spectacular

moorings are afforable and convenient, 2010-08-08
Captain: , Mt. Sinai, NY (232)

We called ahead and reserved a mooring. Hailed them on the radio when we arrived and were given a choice of moorings. The mooring balls were in good condition and have a pikc up stick attached so it was easy to grab the pendant.

The mooring fee includes the launch service and they were very prompt both coming and going.

I would definitely grab a mooring at Seymours again.

Excellent Mooring, 2010-07-22
Captain: , Sea Cliff, NY (1075)

Northport Harbor is FILLED with moorings. Seymour's launch was always ready to pick us up at the boat, and the operators were excellent. The town is very nice with LOTS of places to get ice cream ;-). There is a town park right next to Seymour's, and the main street is just beyond the park.

Improved service over the years, 2010-05-31
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (199)

Seymour's is located right next to the Northport Village dock and at the foot of Main Street. Nice basic facility with rental moorings and launch service.

great stop over, 2009-07-14
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (228)

We just had a great stop at Seymors. Launch operators were very professional and careful. Shore side facility was not terribly convenient, but clean.

First Class Facility, 2007-01-25

Modern school boatyard with old school charm. Family run, family friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand. Visit Seymour's Boatyard to remind yourself of how fun boating can be.
