Reviews for Seven Seas Yacht Services
Good work well done, 2016-06-04
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (1342)

I had my first experience with Seven Seas Yacht Services last week.

I was contracted to deliver a boat from Annapolis to Kent Island for service. The owner has been struggling for two and a half years with a problem diagnosed by multiple marine services as a starboard engine failure. While I initially agreed with that diagnosis some fiddling about (what else was I going to do at 8 mph?) led me to believe quite strongly the problem was with the automatic power trim. Overriding the computer (the "hit it with a stick" approach) seemed to confirm this.

Seven Seas Yacht Services had been contracted to work on the engine. They accepted my diagnosis, circled back to the owner for permission to spend time on the trim possibility and working in concert with reference resources from the factory addressed the problem. The boat runs as it should for the first time since the owner bought it two and a half years ago.

The delivery back from Kent Island to Annapolis yesterday was great. What a boat!

There are some minor residual issues that are not a surprise for something this complex.

I'm just the delivery skipper but they have had the courtesy to keep me in the loop.

I would not hesitate to recommend Seven Seas Yacht Services to any of my own customers.

Was sent to them by Volvo because of problems with our new D3-220. Dave is very knowledgeable. Replaced one of the computers. Frank also worked on our A/C unit and solved a leaking problem.

Day 4 of a 16 day family cruising vacation, my port engine won't start. Murphy's Law! I call Seven Seas at 4:30 and speak to Mike who stays with me on the phone while he helps me diagnose the problem. Unable to get her started, Mike commits to me that he'll get a mechanic out next day. Sure enough, Rick shows up to my boat after driving 2 hours from Baltimore in 105 degree heat. He quickly diagnoses and with Mike and Stephanie's assistance, my part was overnighted and the repair peformed first thing the next morning.

Thanks to Tye for replacing my starter and genny impellor. Tye somehow managed his 6'3" body into my 31' cruiser's engine room in 100 degree heat and replaced the starter in 32 minutes!

Thanks to Mike, Stephanie, Tye, Rick and the whole gang at Seven Seas for dropping your busy schedule to get me back on the water!! The rest of our vacation was perfect!

Not as satisfied as other reviewers, 2011-04-05

Had the my vessel hauled and the bottom painted in mid 2010 prior to a trip. Asked for Micron Extra (not a paint that they usually use) as this is what was on my bottom. Noted different colors on hull at splash but assumed that different parts were more dry than others (my ignorance). Asked about shaft zinc and they indicated that one would not fit (this turns out to be correct) and showed me the shaft. Something was not right with this but I was not knowledgeable enough to understand at the time. As time passed, I contacted the vessel manufacturer and asked about what I had seen. They indicated that I had probably seen the cutlass bearing sliding out. Concerned I took the vessel to another marina about 9 days later. After hauling the boat, it became clear that the cutlass bearing had indeed slid out and it was resting against the prop. The bottom paint was still multicolored and it turns out that the bottom of the keel was not painted at all. The owner of Seven Seas came to the other marina but did not apologize or accept any responsibility for any of the issues with the exception of the missing paint on the bottom of the keel and maintained that the differing colors were a result of paint from different lots. I suppose that this is possible but I am skeptical. Interlux stood behind their product and provided enough paint to redo the bottom.

Top flight mechanics with great attention to detail. 24/7 hotline when you REALLY need help. Mike, Dave and Rick are genuinely interested in you and your vessel.

I would highly recommend them.

If you need Volvo service, there simply is no better! They are prompt, professional, and experts at quickly analyzing and correcting the problem. I can only speak to their expertise with Volvo, but would expect the same for any other services they perform. It so nice to see that some marine service companies still pride themselves in being customer focused.
