For Seaport Marine - After you pass through the railroad bridge you'll see the R36 restaurant to your right. The transient slips circle the restaurant for the most part. T hey have other slips that are perpendicular to the river (and current), but it seems like most boats are asked to make an immediate right by the restaurant.

Reviews for Seaport Marine/Noank Shipyard
Convenient location, helpful staff, 2017-06-26
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (1344)

We stayed 2 nights, 6/24-25 and were assigned a slip on the floating docks, which are immediately on the right after passing through the RR bridge. These docks are very nice, floating concrete with good power. Amtrak goes by frequently but doesn't make much noise. They claim to offer CATV but ours didn't work and neighbors told us it requires paying the cable co to come out and hook it up. Very nice restrooms / showers in the building with Red36 but laundry was a long hike and laundry room was very dirty. 2 washers, 2 dryers, $1.50 each. Gravel parking lots are very hard walking, especially for dog. We were able to use neighboring marina's open wifi as this marina's was unusable from our slip. Yes, it's primarily a boat yard.

Cute touristy town; most of shops and restaurants are on opposite side of river, but it is an easy walk across the bridge. Restaurants on Mystic side are prohibited by law from allowing dogs, even in outdoor seating. West Mystic is by option of each restaurant. Recommend taking Uber to Groton to Submarine Force Museum, home of USS Nautilus, 1st nuclear sub, which is open for tours.

It's a nice spot, 2015-07-30

They put us in a slip right next to the restaurant (which was fine). The docks are fixed with a big tide (so a little jump on and off at low tide), but the slips are wide (the one we stayed in) and easy to get into and out of.

The dock attendant was wonderful. She was patient as we missed our turn and had to come back around, and she helped us with lines and getting shore power hooked up. We're used to doing everything ourselves, so it was nice to have an attendant actually stick around to help beyond when you first pull in.

There's a large grocery store about 1.2 miles away. We walked it, and then took a cab back ($7). You are right next to town with numerous shops and restaurants, and it's an easy dinghy ride up to Mystic Seaport Museum where they have a dinghy dock to tie to.

Yup, its a dock, 2015-07-12

Yes, there are docks here, quite except the Amtrak once in a while. They do seem more interested in running a restaurant, not a marina.

Closest marina to town, 2015-01-12
Captain: , Newport, RI (360)

This marina is in the middle of it all - the railroad bridge to get here is only closed when the amtrak train goes by - R36 is an awesome restauraunt - the concrete floating docks closest to the tracks are the best place to be. no pool though

We called on VHF 9 and they answered right away.
Help dock us, and where friendly.
Location, Location was great!
New Eatery Red 36, was great, right on water.
Walk 2min into Mystic.

No longer liveaboard friendly!, 2014-08-17
Captain: , Palmetto, FL (504)

The managment is now only interested in the new restaurant. They are doing nothing to help out their long time slip holders. If a power pedestal burns out, it does not get repaired. (There are at least 2) Restaurant employees and guests park in the closer slip holder parking areas and no amount of complaints has changed this. They are no longer allowing winter liveaboards as the new management cannot be bothered to maintain the facilities. Come for a night and enjoy the town, but don't expect much from the marina.

Red 36 Restaurant - Open as of 6/25/14, 2014-06-27
Captain: , Newport, RI (20)

A new restaurant, RED 36, has opened within the grounds of the marina. The facility is very large, airy, open and inviting with multiple bars and seating indoors and outdoors on multiple levels with a commanding view of the marina and Mystic River. The menu is creative (same owners and local restuarants Bravo - Bravo and Olio) and prices are average for the area. For now dinghys are welcome.

Rough around the edges., 2012-07-16
Captain: , Red Lion, DE (712)

2012-07-10 Stayed here for two nights before going on up river to the Seaport Museum. We were assigned the transient fixed dock in front of the marina office and all was OK. After spending two nights at the Museum we returned to Seaport Marine and were put in a slip with a fixed dock and no nearby 50 amp plugin. The weekend staff assisting us with our dock lines wasn't the friendliest. They had two 50' power cords hooked together and strung down the dock for us to plug into. We were unable to get power at first but when some switches were thrown at the far end of the dock we got power - 220 volts of it which fried one of our refriges, one flat screen TV, our microwave, our washer/dryer, and a couple of other items!!! A marina person said that an electrician had just recently worked on the meter. Same person later checked the wiring and found two of the wires to be reversed! We were moved back to the transient dock where we had stayed our 1st two nightsl Lesson learned: If it looks rough aound the edges and not the most up-to-date facility it probably is and should be avoided.
12-07-16 Bright and early this AM an electrician came to our boat and checked out all of the equipment damaged by the incorrect wiring. I was extremely impressed that the marina was taking full responsibility for the damage and is going to repair or replace the damaged items. My opinion regarding this marina has definately changed. It is refreshing in this day and age to be treated fairly and with honesty. This marina is rough around the edges being primarily a repair facility but the laundry and bathrooms are clean and well maintained. We will return in the future.

Close to town but very basic, 2012-01-18
Captain: , Apponaug, Rhode Island (274)

The marina staff are nice. The price per night is less then many of the marinas but it is a working shipyard and except for bathrooms there are no services. The bathrooms are also a hike from many of the docks. It is a easy walk into town but not a pretty marina.

Definitely a work in progress.

Good location, very convenient to downtown Mystic. Close to RR bridge but sounds are not too intruding.

Floating docks are nice. Staff very friendly and helpful.

All in all, a decent facility.

Be advised it's quite a ways off the beaten path. Allow almost 1/2hr from Long Island Sound.

Been back a couple of times and am impressed with the changes. Made a transient reservation and just got confirmation of new bath, shower and laundry facilities. Just finished! Friendly and accomodating staff.

Marginal AwlGrip job, 2007-11-13
Captain: , Mystic, CT (318)

Had an AwlGrip Job done in Winter of 2006/2007 on a 46" boat hull. Had one peeling paint spot fixed in less than 3 months and have had several more peeling spots show up over this past summer. E-Mails to the owners, Dan and Kathleen Burns have gone unaswered. I would avoid this yard for work unless their treatment of customers improves. Too bad since they are close to downtown and have several nice new floating docks.

I stayed here once because all other marinas could not accomodate us. It is a working shipyard, not pretty, no amenities but very friendly staff and close to town. If you just need somewhere to stay and your not looking for smaltz this place is fine.
