Reviews for Seafood Shack Marina
Convenient stop for the night, 2016-11-04
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (552)

Dockmaster Eddy was very helpful getting us tied up. Docks have been replaced recently so are in good shape. Fixed wood required fender boards. Didn't use lounge or restaurant. Wifi worked well. No problem with 50a power or water at dock. Some grass to walk dog but lots of traffic on road in front of marina. Heard some noise from nearby bridge when outside, but didn't bother us at night. Would stop here again.

A great stop over for the night, 2016-06-15
Captain: , Carrabelle, FL (270)

Stayed overnight May 5, 2016 while traveling up the ICW. The dock master Eddie was very accomidating. We arranged for a late (8PM arrivial). Eddie gave us his cell phone number. I called him just prior to arrivial, and he met us at the dock. With his help, we had our 38ft sailboat safely and quickly docked. His help made it look easy especially given the strong current at the time. The docks were nice and the bathroom facilities were pleasant . The resaraunt serves decent food and pitchers of beer.

Great value for money, 2016-05-17
Captain: , Lakeview Park Marina Windsor ON (366)

We came in here to wait out a strong front with lots of storms. Stayed two days. Very pleasant folks great docks. Showers first rate. A great place to wait out weather or take in Anna Maria Island!

What a great place, 2016-05-05
Captain: , Kemah, tx (101)

We were here 5/3/16. We came in to sit out some weather. The new dock master Eddie was right there waiting to grab lines and help tie up. He gave us his personnal cell number if we needed anything. One of the shore power plugs was bad. He was there within 5 minutes to deal with and fix the situation. It is an easy approach and slip up. We will absolutly be back, not only because of the good and improving facility, but because of the dock master. You can not beat, "I punch in at 9:30, but I am on the dock a lot earlier." "Just call me and I will come help you of the dock."
There are new docks going in as well. The newest have not had power wired to them as yet, but would not expect it to be long.

Great Stop / Excelent Beach Alternative, 2016-04-04
Captain: , Dunedin (50)

We stayed with the Seafood Shack late March 2016. They appear to have put a lot of money into impoved docks and now have a dock master on site (Eddy, who was wonderful and gave us his cell number for our stay). There is plenty of water in and out, no markers needed.

The facility is a solid 3+ stars and improving, with the location, people and service 5 stars. There are a number of showers upstairs near a captain%u2019s lounge. The shower rooms all have a toilet, sink and shower. The lounge has a nice view of marina looking over towards Bradenton Beach, a short walk over the bridge. The one site restaurant is large and has fresh seafood.

This marina stands on its own with a great view, restaurant and the location to the village of Cortez, though I also see it as a very good alternative to staying on the other side of the bridge. The price was a great value for the area.

We ended up delayed for weather, and everyone was so welcoming and bent over backwards to be helpful. We look forward on returning soon.

good spot, bad power, 2016-03-21
Captain: , Alabama (172)

power was not good, only pulled 190 amps. loud due to restraunt

An up & coming marina, 2015-11-16
Captain: , fairhope, alabama (174)

Stayed a night recently. Breakfast in restaurant very good. If you are an adventurer - try the grouper sandwich next door at Annies Bait Shop. It was outstanding. Agree with Dan & Sandy's review below. Staff really nice.

good overnight stop, 2015-11-04
Captain: , Cleveland, OH (140)

Located just before the Cortez bridge made an early morning departure easy when facing the many bridges going south. The transient docks are new with plenty of water on approach and dockside. The onsite restaurant was busy and the grouper sandwich excellent. Darryl greeted us dockside and was very helpful. Wifi strong. Bathrooms and showers were clean but older. They are on the to-do list according to Darryl. We have seen far worse along the trail. No laundry made for a good excuse to just enjoy the evening.

Greatly Improved, 2015-10-02
Captain: , Sarasota (195)

The new owners have done a lot to improve dockage, it is still a work in progress but close to the restaurant is all new! Daryl the Dockmaster is great. You are on a bus route or walk across the bridge and ride the free trolley. Transportation options abound there are many restaurants and bars accessible by dinghy, and the Monkey Bus is a local service that provides rides for tips.
On site restaurant and bar has good food and a friendly staff in an old Florida motif.

Hope this marina is on the way back, 2015-06-27
Captain: , panama city (12)

Dockmaster is super and professional. There is no laundry and the showers were very rough. not a $1.50 per foot per night marina, but that is the rate with no discounts given

Recent Changes - New owner as of October 2014, 2015-04-25
Captain: , Cleveland (2083)

We spent 5 nights here and enjoyed our stay. We are staying tonight again on our way back. Daryl the dockmaster is great. Call his cell at 941-920-5692. Some of the docks are renovated and others are in progress. The restrooms are tired but acceptable and due to be renovated. There is a small boaters lounge on the second floor by the restrooms with a nice view of the harbor but the washer and dryer have been removed. We paid $6 a foot weekly rate. No fuel or pumpout - just a good dock. We asked to be on the inside due to some wake action even though it is a slow zone. We had no problems with the current and Daryl offered to meet us upon arrival. The restaurant is on the water and the deck has been improved. We didn't eat there.

Location of the marina s great, nice walk over the bridge to Anna Marie Island - beautiful beach, park and many restaurants. Nice place to ride bikes. Not fancy but given the friendly people, reasonable price for the area and great location we like it.

getting a make over , 2015-01-21
Captain: , Buzzards Bay (381)

Lots of changes going on. Bathrooms are clean and being replaced. Construction every place. Just starting to replace the docks, new piles delivered yesterday. You have to try Annie's next door, a bait shop restaurant / dive bar. Good burgers cold beer and lots of local color. Onsite restaurant is in transformation new staff the kitchen just received new cooking equipment.

Worst Marina in the Area, 2014-07-14
Captain: , Florida (20)

We stayed here for several months because nothing else was available. The docks are old and rotten and about to fall apart. There is so much wake from passing boaters that your boat shakes, rattles and rolls all day and night! They areway over priced. The restrooms are dirty and moldy. I spotted 3 different kinds of mold. There are ants, cockroaches, gnats, mosquitoes, and weevils. Not to mention the rats and raccoons that get on your boat. It's pretty much the dregs of marinas. The restaurant has Sysco generic food and they don't even have one meal I liked. It caters to the very old crowd and there isn't any entertainment. Also, there is only 1 ancient washer and dryer and the Internet is always down.

Average place, 2014-03-30
Captain: , Lanexa VA. (260)

food is OK docks need work especially power. good for one night but that's about it

Sketchy..., 2013-08-27
Captain: , Dunedin (61)

Docks are mediocre at best. Very few power outlets, and those are in poor condition. The showers and bathrooms are gross - we showered on our boat instead. There's a reason they are the cheapest around...

Neat Place, 2013-07-13
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1328)

Stayed here tied alongside to their long dock. Marina is in slow speed zone so wakes were not too bad. Had some problems with electric. Had to use two power cords end to end to reach a working electric pedestal. Restaurant had good seafood at a good price. Quaint nautical junk store within easy walking distance. Would come back again.

One Night Stop-over, 2013-05-21
Captain: , Apollo Beach (491)

Good for a stop-over. Decent bathrooms. You're among the trainsent boats.... but everyone is friendly and respectful.
Fried food with good hushpuppies.

Good Value - Friendly People, 2013-02-06
Captain: , Bay City (144)

Docks are a little rough but in good condition. The Dockmaster, Ben, is great! Restaurant is ok...not great. Would highly recommend for one night or a month to visit Bradenton Beach attractions.

Warning: No pump out here...if in need Bradenton Beach Marina has $25 pump outs (WOW)!

Good Food (I need a 10 character minimum), 2013-01-19
Captain: , Rising Sun, DE (210)

Came in by dinghy and had lunch. Very good food (don't miss the onion rings) and a decent price. Docks are rough as noted by other reviews.

Nice stop good food, 2012-12-20
Captain: , Ft. Myers, FL (2901)

Nice place to spend an evening with good food

Pleasantly surpised, 2012-12-14
Captain: , Athens, AL (641)

Very pleasant stay. Would have rated it higher but the docks are a little rough, 2 of the 4 bathrooms were out of service, some electrical boxes didn't work, it's just physically a mediocre facility. Had great clam chowder at the restaurant. Do take the time to see Anna Maria Island, a very quiet and laid back fishing village. Great beaches, park, walking and bike trail for about 2 miles on south end of the island. Also check out the maritime museum in the other direction from the marina. Very interesting, lots of history. Also located near the museum is the fish processing facility, also worth a look. For $1.25/ft, good stop.

Good affordable lunch, 2012-11-16
Captain: , Stuart Florida (280)

Biked over from Parrot Cove Marina about 10 mins. for lunch. Excellent fish sandwich and good fries. Cold beer. Our server..Margie was very pleasant. Would eat here again. Docks looked a little rough and exposed to west winds and wakes from ICW

Seafood Shack Marina, 2012-11-05
Captain: , Fayetteville AR (30)

good dockaage, good location, decent rates for a cruiser.

Seafood Shack Marina, Cortez, FL, 2012-06-26
Captain: , Kemah, TX (10)

I rate the Marina & Seafood Shack as tops!

Nice Stopover, 2011-11-02
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (639)

Agree with previous comments. Restaurant good. Received docking assistance. Arrived in strong winds and had no problems docking. Power recepticals need to be upgraded. Waater faucet handles broken up. Transient docks need power washing and seabird deterrentl. Convenient to Anna Maria Island with a short walk across bridge. Free trolley goes up and down the Anna Maria Island with access to grocery, drug stores and restaurants. Will definitely make this a regular stopover.

Good Place to Stage Tampa Bay Crossing, 2011-04-11
Captain: , Cape Coral, Fl (838)

Great location to wait out weather to cross Tampa Bay. Docks are older but we encountered no problems. Restrooms/shower facilities were older but OK. Pet friendly.

We would stay there again.

Great place to find locals..., 2011-02-17
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (671)

Great Place for salty cruisers and live a boards. Shopping and eating a short walk across the cortez bridge. Don't miss Starfish for an awesome lunch or dinner experience. The showers and restrooms here are less than fresh and could use a update, but overall not a bad place to stay.

Really Enjoyed our stay!, 2010-12-14
Captain: , Dunedin, Florida (122)

We spent two nights and used this as a base to checkout Anna Marie Island. Radio'd in ahead and were met and assisted at the dock. We really encountered no problems with wakes and the wind was blowing pretty good both nights from the East which is pretty standard in Florida (other than when cold fronts are coming through).

There are 4 private showers with a commode in each. It's not a 5 star resort but the showers were clean and the shower quite refreshing refreshing.

We intend to stay there again when passing south

Good inexpensive to stage to cross Tampa Bay., 2010-11-16
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Good spot to stage to cross Tampa Bay going north. Very near ICW no wake zone buy many ignore that so subject to wakes. Also can be tough docking as slips and along side docks are 90 degrees to current or north or south wind. No docking help is to be expected. $1.25 is a good price in the area and many store are nearby. The seafood restaurant is has fresh seafood. Bathrooms and shower are servicable but older.
