Reviews for Seabrook Shipyard and Marina
Praise for both marina and shipyard, 2017-06-23
Captain: , Reno, NV (30)

We brought our boat here to prepare to ship it to the San Francisco Bay area.
The marina was very nice, as a matter of fact, the shower next to the pool is the nicest shower I've ever seen in a marina.
The marina staff was extremely helpful and flexible when our plans kept changing, consistently overperforming.
The shipyard was also very accommodating and professional as well.

Just turned 1 year at the Shipyard and we couldn't be happier with our choice. We drive from Oklahoma City just about every weekend and when we take a break for projects fitting Mystique for cruising we love to explore this cruiser freindly area. It has everything!!

This is a "Community of Sailors", 2015-04-05
Captain: , Seabrook (20)

In addition to being an excellent facility to park a boat, the patrons and residents are really a friendly bunch of folks and almost every weekend there are several gatherings at the numerous kiosks for bbq, cookouts, or just drinks and socializing. A lot of experience sailors are around to give advicr to the newbies such as me.

Agree with Captian Steve77, the previsus review. We stayed there as Live a Boards in 2013/2014 Could not ask for better service from the Marina and Boat yard.

One of the best marinas we've stayed at, 2015-01-09
Captain: , Seabrook Tx (10)

We draw seven feet and were limited in our marina choices, so we chose Seabrook Marina. Our dock is very new, floating, and the central dock is covered. This makes the trip to the head much nicer in either rain or hot sun. Most parking spots are also covered. None are reserved, and it is strictly on a "first come" basis. We have been here since May 2011 and have seen continuous upgrades during our stay. The old fixed docks (G and HH) were torn down and replaced with new, covered slips for large power boats. The parking lots for H and I were repoured and new covers added. A security gate was installed in December 2014.

The bathhouses are very clean and well kept. The pool is fine for our use, but has been around for a long time. The fitness room was opened in 2012 (I think) and is excellent. All the equipment is almost new, reflecting the light use of the room in general.

Most of the docks have barbeque grills and sitting areas for impromptu parties. We have spent many evenings talking and visiting with folks as they stop by on their way to their boat. We have found the folks on our end of the marina (docks, H, I, and J) to be very sociable and outgoing. This is not to say it is a party marina, in fact it is quite the opposite. We find it very quiet and relaxing.

The staff is very good. Linda and Stephanie at the front desk will go out of their way to help you if you have any special requests. For example, my wife asked if we could have an extra dock box installed at our barbeque area to store charcoal and lighter, andf it showed up the next day along with an extra garbage can. There have been numerous times that they have helped us out with little favors or improvements to the marina.

I saw another post stating that the harbor master is a "jerk". Most of the folks that I have heard complain about Dean were violating one or more of the marina rules and just didn't want to be corrected. Yes, he can be brusque. However, if you keep your boat neat and don't try to bend all of the rules, I have found him very fair and likable.

There are a few shortcomings. As noted elsewhere, the only pumpout facility is a mobile cart named the Head Hunter. Laundry facilities are minimal.

For cruisers, a car is almost a necessity as groceries and anything else are over a mle away. To be fair, this is true of almost the entire Clear Lake area.

To sum up, we are very happy with the marina and the staff. We recommend it fully.

Docking at Seabrook Marina, 2014-12-19
Captain: , seabrook (10)

Great facilities with nice clean docks and enough room for boat. Quick ride to get to open water. People in the office are wonderful and extremely helpful.

Very good marina, 2014-06-03
Captain: , St Martin (161)

I stayed from March to December 2013. I really enjoyed the Marina. Mostly friendly staff. Monthly rate for 53 foot vessel was $440 per month including water. Electricity was $0.08/kw.
Pump out was working, restroom and shower were cleaned.
During the winter months, with north wind it was sometime not possible to take the vessel out which draw 7ft.
I definitely recommend this marina to the Boardwalk which is so noisy and always packed with traffic.

Great Marina on Clear Lake, 2014-04-28
Captain: , Seabrook, Texas (10)

We have been here since June 2011. The access to the marina from the Clear Lake channel is good. We draw close to 4' and have never had any problem even at the lowest water levels.

A new covered floating dock is under construction at the moment. Facilities are good and the pool and work-out center are well maintained. The marina office staff are friendly and helpful.

Restaurants and shopping are all close by. A good marina to base yourself while visiting the Galveston Bay area.

After two years, 2013-04-10
Captain: , Southampton , UK (1327)

Stayed here for two years. The whole of clear lake is very shallow and we draw 6 and 1/2 foot. We are ok in almost the entire Marina.

The Marina itself is ok , the staff are freindly, although most know little about boats. Most of the slips are good with restrooms that are cleaned reguarly, power and water.

There is a laundry (well there are machines at the back of a building) There is a modern fitness room and a good swimming pool.

The shipyard is good, they do not like you working on your boat. So be very careful coming here if you are not paying someone else to work on your boat.

Woudl recomend this Marina if you are looking to be able to get out at all times of the year.

Seabrook Marina and Dry Storage, 2012-12-06
Captain: , Houston (10)

We've had our boat here since before Ike. It's only a J24 and kept on a trailer so we towed it out. Some who didn't found their boats with the trailers still attached across the marina. The floating docks just managed to not float away - surge was about 15 feet. Folks here are nice and whenever you need a gate opened they are right there. There is now a gym as well as the swimming pool although I've never used either. If you are looking for deluxe - this isn't it. But if you are looking for good value for your $$ it is. WiFi works fine, btw.

Decent marina but had a problem with OJ, 2012-09-06
Captain: , KEMAH, TEXAS (30)

Lived aboard there for a year on one of the nice new floating docks. They were finally working on upgrading grounds and roads, but still had washer and dryer "outside". OJ" Marine Repair there at the shipyard put on the wrong flange on the drive shaft and we almost lost our boat. He would not do anything and his own insurance co. overuled him and paid us. That's pretty bad to not stand behind his work.

Trying to rebuild with only FEMA money after Ike, 2011-06-16
Captain: , Mansfield, Tx (50)

Marina is old. However; have some good floating docks but still some
fixed. Harbor Master can be a real JERK. Everybody else OK. The owners are just old fashon. No land scaping to speak of, old roads around the marina. Pool has seen it's better days. The service area
which is leased out is best in the area. Resturant closed after Ike.

Fabulous service and excellent workers and facilities, 2010-11-17
Captain: , Channel Islands, California (1149)

We did some damage when we went aground on a moving sandbar outside Offetts Bayou. We were going to haul out at a yard in Galveston, but our TowBoat US Captain said he would rather see us go up to Seabrook. OJ is the best. He has skilled workers there. Our horrible situation was taken care of quickly and in an entirely friendly and professional manner. I highly recommend OJ Marine Services.

Marina is being rebuilt after Ike, 2009-08-02
Captain: , Corpus Christi,Tx (1569)

This marina was heavily damaged after Ike, but is in fair shape now with work continuing. New floating docks have been installed and the swimming pool is open. The only major problem is that you must use a cart to pump out and due to the size of the marina, it can be quite a struggle to move the pump out cart
