Reviews for Sea Marine Boatyard and Chandlery
Great facility!, 2016-06-30
Captain: , Port Townsend, WA (10)

All of the folks here are wonderful. great to work with and very accomodating. I feel more like a friend or member of the family than a client. The only drawback, not unique to Sea Marine, is that having a limited budget I find their work to be rather expensive. Love them just the same as theyve been extremely helpful.

6 Years of Satisfaction, 2012-12-15
Captain: , Port Ludlow (60)

My husband and I each hold an unlimited USCG license (master with pilotage and second mate, respectively). We have used SEA Marine exclusively for the past 6 years as we resurrected our '83 Hallberg-Rassy and could not be more pleased with their professionalism, ethics and problem-solving abilities. Whether it was engine maintenance, electrical upgrades, rudder repair, bottom paint, rigging - you name it, they have done supurb work for us and we would highly recommend them for any and every need. To Matt, Mark, Jake, Gus, Elton ... the entire crew from the top down, you have been fantastic to work with and we will miss you... but cruising calls. See you when we return!

Bad Experience, 2012-06-23
Captain: , Seattle, WA and Ft. Lauderdale, FL (330)

They quibbled with the recommendation of a licensed marine architect. The boat was hauled before the parts arrived running up lay day charges. They quoted $500.00 for a railing which the outside contractor billed at 8K! They spent 8 hours and charged 1K attempting to trouble shoot and repair a stabalizer system which was eventually repaired in Seattle within 20 minutes at a cost of $250.00

Quality and Courteous!, 2012-06-06
Captain: , Brownsville WA (75)

We hauled for a month while Matt had the crew paint our mast. During that time I was able to do much more work myself. They helped me order a new transmission and complete the install. We also had a bimini made. The crew's knowledge, expertise and friendly helpfulness cannot be overstated. We could have lived aboard but kept a trailer at the RV park. Very convenient. I recommend them whole heartedly.

Highly recommended. Very friendly staff., 2012-04-19

I only used the parts department, but it was well stocked, and the staff was very helpful. This is the yard that built the Salish Sea 48, a very elegant flybridge cruiser. It was right there at the marina. Owner of the yard, Matt, is a very nice guy and spent time talking to me even as a customer buying $4 worth of parts. I can see why people from all around the area bring boats here for work.

Very Friendly and quality work, 2011-08-05

Sea Marine is a quality, competitive marine facility. Very helpful and friendly with very fair prices

Convenient and peaceful location for DIY with support, 2011-06-22
Captain: , Seattle (56)

Sea Marine owns the travellift and boat yard, Port of Port Townsend owns the Point Hudson marina - they share the same breakwater. If you are coming to Sea Marine, tie up at the short dock to the right of the travellift (NE side). All the other docks are owned by the Point Hudsoon marina. You will also find in this marina area: Brion Toss Riggers, Carol Hasse's PT sails, PT Foundry, Pygmy boats (kayaks) and other maritime industries.

Though this yard is privately owned, they charge the same lift and storage rates as Port of PT at Boat Haven, which is a mile or so to the SW along the PT waterfront. The differences with Boat Haven is the Sea Marine facitility has a smaller travellift and smaller storage yard. It is also a more peaceful location away from traffic, and nearer to the old town. In contrast, Boat Haven is more convenient to West Marine, Henery's hardware, Safeway, and the PT Brewery. However, the local connector bus will get you around town if you need to get to Safeway etc, and I believe Sea Marine can get deliveries from the local West Marine, Napa, etc.

The Sea Marine staff is helpful and relaxed - willing to let you do DIY. You can ask questions, and then pay for qualified help when you are stuck.

You can live aboard while on the hard for no extra charge. You can use the nearby park facilities to shower and laundry, and these are kept very clean! We enjoyed our week-long stay at the boatyard, and would use them again.
