Reviews for Sea Hag Marina
Local Color, 2016-11-27
Captain: , Austin, TX (877)

We left Carrabelle at 7 a.m. And arrived Sea Hag at 5:00 p.m., on 11-14-2016. We travel at 7 knots. We followed the marked channel in and tied up on the end t-dock. No depth problems, we draw 4'. At dusk there are biting gnats, like big noseeums. Be prepared. We only tied up for the night did not go anywhere, but this is a easy in and out place to rest after a 10hr day.

Great Stay for our group, 2016-06-03
Captain: , Hernando Beach, PL (30)

Traveled and stayed with four sailboats and a trawler in May, 2016 both westbound and back again eastbound from Carrabelle.
We pretty much filled the place, but the staff were very helpful and accommodating.
Can get a littly noisey early AM on weekends with fishermen, and it can be buggy at dusk.
But, this is a great marina and town for a few day stay to soak up local flavor!

Great Place 4/2016, 2016-04-05
Captain: , Kuttawa Kentucky (410)

Nice price on dockage. Wonderful helpful people to help you when needed. Shipstore is awesome. Great prices on almost anything you need. Don't forget insect spray for the no see ums. Left vehicle there for a few days while making the gulf crossing. Would like to stay longer for the laid back atmosphere. Great fishing area. Thank You Sea Hag Marina

Pleasant stay, 2016-01-11
Captain: , St. Augustine, Florida (246)

1$/ft less 20% for boat us. Only face dock for most of us due to boat size, 30/50 amp power, amazing store and nice people. Not much in town, but pizza and a couple other restaurants, a small store about a mile away and a hardware store about a mile and half, also a fresh crab shop, i think called Kathies crabs, good stone crabs.

A good stop., 2016-01-08
Captain: , Boyd, Texas (390)

Mostly a fishing area but can handle 2 or 3 transients. Over 40' may not fit. Voltage was low where we were connected, charger kept shutting down because of it. Good ships store.

Good Stop, Great People, 2015-11-30
Captain: , baltimore (91)

Plenty of water entering, at least 6 feet. great pizza shop 1/2 mile upriver.could not start starboard engine in the morning, needed a new battery. The helpful crew at Sea Hag ordered a new 8D battery and installed it by 1 pm. What great service.

Welcome stop after daylight Gulf crossing., 2015-04-16
Captain: , Naples, FL (682)

Steinhatchee is underrated as a stopping point for crossing the Gulf from Carrabelle. Most folk tried their hardest to talk us out of it. I'm glad we came here. The entrance is quite pituresque with the river winding through the grass flats to the river town. Despite hearing of depth problems, we did not have less than 7 ft and we came in right on a 0.0 low tide.
Marina only has three usable transient docks on the T-heads. They are floating but not very high so be prepared to hang fenders almost to the waterline. Town water is good. The town area around the marina is very clean and quaint. Nearest eatery is a pizza restaurant about a half mile walk upriver with the very good Fiddler's restaurant a further half mile on. We walked there although Fiddler's will pick-up and drop-off from the marina.

Fairly Decent Marina, 2014-12-14
Captain: , Belleville, Ontario (400)

Good depth in the entrance channel - approx 7 feet at near high tide in one spot, otherwise 9-12 ft - folks were friendly and assisted with docking - 3 T heads - little traffic after dark - showers were rough with a lack of hot water - good for a stop over in transit - fishing is the main focus here

nice way to break up the Gulf crossing, 2014-12-01
Captain: , Put-in-Bay,Ohio (194)

Three 50 foot tee heads with 30 0r 50 amp. power channel had 5.5 feet at low water. we draw 5 feet and had no problem...

could not acomitate us due to size, 2014-07-13
Captain: , Port Arthur, Tx (476)

called for slip and were friendly but they could not help us with slip due to our size 46'x24' beam. more geared to smaller boats. have store on site bought ice friendly people

Interesting place, 2014-07-07
Captain: , Navarre (40)

Stayed 7/3/2014. A lot of slips with small boats in them. Not sure there was enough room to park on the inside for us. We had to tie up at the fuel dock as they were full. Seems like the place to be. We were one of 2 larger boats there (35 and 38). Not sure where they would put a 50 footer. Fuel was on the high side but the restaurant was good. Lots of boats and people. No wake zone. Definitely a place to experience, seemed to have everything you'd need and quite lively. They have a long fuel hose and basically drag it to you if you are parked on the fuel dock end. Gas and Diesel available, very helpful staff, unique place.

Very Busy-Scalloping Season, 2014-07-03
Captain: , Tarpon Springs FL (24)

Good stay up the River. Easy in and out. Friendly staff. Tied up at the T-dock in our 38' Cat. Price was $1.00/ft less the Boat US 25% discount. 30 amp service remained the same @ $5.00/day. Docks seemed to be better suited for smaller boats and do have small cleats that didn't seem that sturdy. Best to tie additional lines and fender up well because many of the passing boaters don't understand what minimum wake means.

Great time - very helpfull, 2014-04-29
Captain: , Tampa (30)

Slipped my sailboat there for a week while getting her fit to sail. Had put in at a hoist upstream with the mast down and brought her down to work on. Cabins are rustic but comfortable and reasonable.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Helped me out with some labor and advice without additional charges. I don't expect to be up that way again, but highly recommend.

Not many sailboats in Steinhatchee - caution on the river current when maneuvering around the docs.

cold shower, 2014-01-10
Captain: , Pensacola (430)

People at the store were helpful and very friendly. Only down side was the cold shower. When I asked about it they said somebody turns the switch off in the ladies room thinking it is for the lights. They were going to make sure a new placard was made and somebody would make sure switch is on. Next morning, no hot water. Stayed here 12/2/2013 Groceries about a mile down the road at BP station. Also Ace hard ware little further same direction.

great bargain, 2013-12-19
Captain: , St Joe (159)

stayed 4 nights waiting for weather. watch for negative low tides, otherwise plenty of water. Roy's and Fiddler's restaurants will come get you and bring you back. Dinghy to Hungry Howies, or Fiddler's. Wifi is only good at the ship's store. Laundry (no coins) for $3 per load. Hot water ran out after about 2 minutes in shower. Owner's response was that it was working fine, we were just staying in too long. After 3 days with cold showers, helpful staff let us shower in one of the rental units. Had a great meal at Roy's, too many scallops to eat, a heaping portion, all that would fit piled on the plate, and succulent. Maddies market has a subwayand is about a mile round trip. Dollar General is 5 miles round trip. The showers were the only negative for us, but a big one.

Good alternative to overnight gulf crossing, 2013-11-24
Captain: , Buffalo (1144)

We stayed here for three nights waiting for a weather window. Marina has good floating docks, and even though this marina is mainly geared to fishermen, the staff bend over backward to accommodate cruisers.

We saw a minimum of 6 ft at a very low tide in the chanel, and also 6 ft at the Marina T dock

Have stayed at Sea Hag twice, 2013-10-08
Captain: , Montgomery Alabama (1102)

In different cruises , we have stayed in Sea Hag twice . Its a nice laid back place .
it is geared for the fishermen , but they provided us a nice , comfortable stay , both times .

Fantastic Place to Stay, 2013-07-05
Captain: , Port Charlotte FL (210)

If you decide to visit Steinhatchee, you must remember that this is a fishing town and the marinas are geared to towards fishermen. The marinas have many small boat slips for fishing boats but relatively few for larger yachts. If you decide to come here, I highly recommend that you call in advance for reservations, especially during scallop season (July -Aug).

With that being said, our family can%u2019t say enough good things about the owners and staff of Sea Hag. We visited at a very busy time of year for them, but every employee was kind and friendly and really went out of their way to help us with whatever we needed.

They have 50 and 30 amp power and WIFI. I believe they have showers though we never used them. They have a nice shop and a very nice supply of boat equipment.

There is a good grocery mart 0.6 miles away and a couple of restaurants well within walking distance.

Also, if you would like to kayak over the Steinhatchee Falls, call River Haven Marina and they will drop you off above the falls and you can kayak back to their marina.

Wonderful pace to stay! Sleeps plenty and people were great.

40 ft motorsailer, 3.5 draft, 2013-01-28
Captain: , lenoir city, tn (200)

Channel into port holds 5.8 ft at mid tide.

Marina is basic fare. Floating wooden docks. Geared for smaller fishing boats.

Town is fun with several good restaurants. Fiddlers and who dat good choices.

Groceries nearby. Take dinghy to Hungry Howies and you are only few blocks from groceries.

Must see. Ellison's fish market. Great prices. Buy fiah right off small fishing boats.

Town is good. Upbeat developments blended with old Florida.

Nearby anchorage just inland from marina.

Great marina, friendly service, 2012-07-06
Captain: , Sunset, SC (60)

We arrived in late April 2012, and clearly were the biggest boat they had seen in a while at 45'. The staff were helpful in getting us tied to the end of the T. The staff were friendly, we stayed two nights to give our two dogs a bit of "land" time.

Economical and safe, 2012-05-03
Captain: , San Francisco CA (1301)

Very reasonable dockage. Boat US rate. Good fishing supply store. Grocery and restaurants in walking distance. Good staff. Lots of fishing, so you may wake up at the crack of dawn.
Fiddler's Restaurant will pick you up and return you to Sea Hag, and there is a liquor store right next to Fiddlers.

Very nice marina, 2011-11-25
Captain: , Florida Keys (182)

The most economical marina I have found to date, 50 cents a foot and then take another 25% off for Boatus discount. The chanel is deep and well marked. The marina is shallow though. It is designed more for fishing boats. No more than 4 feet of water at low tide. The ships store is large, almost like a West Marine. Clean facilities, nice people.

Wonderful marina hideaway, 2011-07-04
Captain: , Hawesville,Ky (371)

Hidden back behind the seagrass fields of steinhatchee, lies sea hag marina. A small marina with floating docks, fishing boats, and a ship store full to the brim. Groceries and small restearaunts within a miles walk, and a hospitable and friendly staff make this a must stop for big bend cruisers.

Nice place, sometimes skinny water, 2011-02-05
Captain: , Nashville (260)

Exceptionally nice and helpful people working and playing at this marina. Fuel now available w/diesel about $3.85 (sig less up the river at RH, but water even more shallow there). We found channel approach shallow even at mid tide coming in, and barely manageable at low tide (at least one cruiser had to delay departure b/o 3ft water in river) going out. Skinny water encountered mid channel all along lengthy approach). Would happily return, but only with favorable tide and winds predicted.

Call ahead, 2010-11-02
Captain: , Stuart, Fl (435)

Nice people, very active fishing marina, but not a lot of room. If more than 2 boats came in, there would not be room. Only one electric outlet on our dock and only one hose hookup. Worked for us, since we were the only ones there.

basic dockage, small docks, 2009-12-04
Captain: , Miami, fl (3544)

nice place although geared to small boats. Stopped there with a 53 MY, it was fine althought the floating docks are low and the cleats very small.

restaurants nearby, pretty deep and well marked channel (7' MLW with light Notherly winds), basic marine store on site.

not too many choices in the area!

Sea Hag Marina, 2009-02-08
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

Nice Reasonably priced marina with friendly staff. The channel into Steinhatchee is deep and well marked. Spaces for large boats are limited.
