Reviews for Sea Gate Marina
Affordable, friendly, easy., 2016-11-30
Captain: , South Bristol, Maine (120)

Easy in easy out, friendly dockside service. Normal rate for daily dockage, dockside fresh water supply needs to be fixed.

I was told monthly dockage was $5/foot (!!!) - we don't have the occasion to stay here that long, but I've never heard of anything that affordable.

Great place to stop.

Quiet and friendly. Docks are fixed but the water level doesn't change much without a storm.

great location, easy in out., 2016-04-07
Captain: , Stockton Springs Maine (81)

Stopped for fuel last October south bound and found a diamond in the rough. This place is great. Ended up staying a week and met the friendliest people you could ask for. Local fisherman shared his catch of King Mackerel with us and we BBQ it on the boat. Stopped again on our way north and felt like we were coming home. Excellent stop off for fuel, easy in and out right on the ICW. Well equipped little store on sight, clean bathrooms and laundry facility. Convenient stop waiting for tide shifts and or weather. Considered a hurricane hole. Love this place.

Good relaxed sociable Sea Gate Association private marina, 2015-11-24
Captain: , Moyock, NC (984)

The marina is owned by a private Sea Gate Association and offers 2 transient slips. There cost for a slip is reasonable and store items are not over-priced. They have a limited variety of items in the store and nice facilities. We met the locals for morning coffee and the 6:30 pm social on the dockside deck. Drawing 4' and being in a positive .7 MLT we always had 6' at the dock and didn't have any problems getting in and out, but as in any canal entrance watch and be prepared for a current in the canal. It was a delightful place to stay over. It is pet friendly with a large friendly yellow lab mascot.

Sea Gate Marina 5-20-2015, 2015-05-21
Captain: , Sea Gate Marina, Newport, NC (50)

Good group of folks working here and a great bunch of boaters in the marina. A real down home feel. We liked it enough to pay for a year in advance and make it our new home.

Watch depth at low tide, 2015-03-30
Captain: , Oriental, NC (10)

Great little marina and store on the ditch between Adams Creek and Beaufort. But note the depths at the main face dock in front of the store. I draw 5'1" and layed up at high tide with about 6" to spare. 4 hours later the keel was nestled in the bottom. Had to "dredge" my way out of the soft mud to the deeper water 8ft away from the dock. But otherwise, good people, nice facility, relatively cheap fuel.

Easy in, easy out, fuel prices easy on the kitty!, 2014-04-29
Captain: , Pensacola (160)

Nice stop for fuel, or to spend the night when the miles don't quite add up at the end of the day. Staff have always been friendly and helpful, paid 3.87 for diesel yesterday, cheaper then fuel in the roadside. Bathrooms very clean, pleasant nights sleep.

Nice Little Marina, 2013-10-26
Captain: , Swansboro (664)

Great place to stop for snacks/drinks when running the "ditch". Fuel resonable priced.

Likely to see locally renouned musician and cruiser Robert McDuffy, who moors his own boats in the SeaGate community.

Captain: , Kemah, Texas (40)

We can not say enough about the good people at Sea Gate, Claudia, Vince, Bill, Vicki, Terry, and of course, Cliff. What great people who make you feel like you have just come home from a long trip when they welcome you for the first time to the marina.

Great price on diesel, 2013-07-01
Captain: , Sunset Beach, NC (1124)

I was passing by on 6/28/2013 and saw a sign that said $3.39 / gallon for diesel. Came back a few days later and took on 180 gallons. I asked them how they sold fuel this cheap and they said they got lucky and got a cheap load. Shrimp trawler in front of me took 100 gallons so I know it is fresh and at that price it will be gone soon.

Very Nice Out-of-the-way kind of place that really isnt out of the way, 2013-06-14
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1777)

When I was planning our route north I kind of tripped over this place. Very nice, clean, well kept. Reasonably priced store. The entrance may be tricky at certain tidal times (which are minimal) or wind conditions. We came in against a very slight wind driven current and had no problems getting in or getting our 45' boat turned around at the bend past the fuel dock. The thoroughfare is wide enough you could walk your boat around to have a bow first exit, which is, I think, desirable considering that the channel is rock-lined. Max and Vickie are very nice and helpful. Pump out is self service. Internet was good, not great. Our verizon hotspot worked fine also. Lots of locals around. Very nice group of folks. Wednesday is $1 beer day. Everyone gathered on the spacious deck and told a bunch of lies and fish stories. It was fun. Very good staging area to Ocracoke if you dont want to go into Oriental. There are not any local stores around except for the well stocked marina market. That would be only reason not a 5 star rating. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Fuel Prices -- Nice Place, 2013-05-19
Captain: , Patuxent River, MD (198)

Just passing by and saw diesel at 3.29 -- couldn't resist topping off at thise prices. VERY tricky entrance, narrow with a hefty current. Got to be careful or you will be on the rocks. Had enough room inside to 'spin" my 53 Hatteras and moor stbd side to for fueling. Very nice staff, helpful, with a pretty well stocked convienience store.

Very Welcoming!, 2013-05-01
Captain: , Topsail Beach, NC (480)

Revision Apr. 2013: Sea Gate is a great stop if you don't want to see Morehead or Beaufort, and aren't into anchoring out. We've been up and down here so many times we don't need to spend time in the "cities" and find this a comfortable stop when just trying make distance and need a break. Highly recommended.

We've overnighted here a couple of times. Personnel are extremely courteous and helpful. Facilities are OK. Long face dock is easy to pull up to. We especially like that they don't mind us pulling in just for a few minutes to walk the dog even if we're not going to spend much money with them! Very protected, but watch out for current right at entrance.

A great place to stretch your legs after crossing the Neuse River heading south.

Well sheltered, nice folks., 2012-01-23
Captain: , Southport, NC (916)

The facilities are a little dated but they make up for it with a decent boat ramp and good customer service. Seems to be 5 to 6ft MLLW.

Excellent Hurricane Hole, 2011-11-01
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (533)

I have only used this marina for a hurricane hole. It was excellent for that purpose. Minimal store, but friendly people. It's an adequate place to spend a few days. Nothing fancy.

great small marina, 2011-07-22
Captain: , Palmetto Fl (545)

You really have to watch the current at the entrance or you'll be on the rocks. Great protection from everything once your in. Room for 2 45 footer's at the wall or you might get a back in slip. Take the wall. Very weak cell service if at all and definetly no Verizon MIFI. They do have their own wifi if can get it to work. Very nice store and boater's lounge. There's no pool even though it's in their ad. Somebody started building this marina and ran out of money.

Granted, It was a miserable day, 2011-03-31
Captain: , Pinnacle, NC, USA (1340)

And I can see giving this place 5 stars as a huricane hole.
But advertising $3.69/gal out on the ICW while colecting $3.79 at the pump, and then not saying so when handing over the fill-hose -- well, that ain't kosher. The staff today (2011-03-28) was surly. The fuel: 89 octane, no-ethanol

Hidey Hole With Facilities, 2008-10-13
Captain: , Charleston, SC (267)

Facilities are overall limited, but this little marina has gas, diesel, a small store and showers. There's also a very nice single ramp with decent parking. Protection is unparalleled and there's little to no current.

Well Protected, 2007-12-10
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (432)

Great protection from current and wind. Water level rises and lowers as big tugs pass. Nice little store.
