I have a soft spot for this little place. You have to go with the understanding that it is secluded and that you need to bring everything your vessel and crew need. You will see kids fishing and jumping off the docks. The stars are intense at night. I always meet great people on the docks.

Summer Vacation 2014, 2015-01-27

We stayed at Scudder for 2 days in July of 2014. We had only planned on 1 day, but due to strong winds were forced to stay an additional day. The marina staff was courteous and very helpful. The water issue with the bathrooms is the major downside to the stay, fortuantely I had full freash water tanks on the boat and did not need to use the showers at the marina. I aslo recommend coming into the marina with bumpers at water level as there is no other protection for your boat on the docks.

Nice and secluded..., 2014-09-27

...almost too secluded. The docks and the staff are excellent. You've read the other reviews about the water. How bad could it be? Worse than I imagined. I'd have smelled better by NOT showering. On my recent visit in mid-september, the two closest restaurants were "closed until Wednesday." I don't blame them. There were very few people around. So, if you're going late in the season, make sure you're fairly self-sufficient. I plan on going back, renting bikes and staying longer next time.

Scudder, it seems that you either love it or you hate it. My wife and I both love coming to back to Scudder! The docks are well kept, and the dock hands are very helpful. Do not connect to the shore water!! The water is VERY hard, with a strong sulfur smell and taste. The water is the same in the bathrooms. The bathrooms are kept clean, but there is hard water stain everywhere. I really enjoy the quiet and solitude that Scudder and Pelee Island offers. Everyone always waves at you as they drive or ride by. I find every trip to Scudder and Pelee very relaxing.

Definitely take a bike ride to the beaches on the East side. The further South you are willing to pedal, the nicer the beaches get. The water is very clear. If you pedal down the West side, there is a very nice Stoneman and you eventually get to West Dock and the winery. The winery has some fantastic wines, and the pavilion is a great place to spend an afternoon. The patrons are exceptionally friendly, and are very easy to start up a conversation.

Immediately West of Scudder Marina is the Scudder Beach Bar. Decent food, live bands on the weekends, it?s a good place for a beer and wings. The Anchor & Wheel Inn is a decent, yet very ecletic restaurant just over a mile West of Scudder. Also about a mile West is Conorlee?s. Conorlee?s has bakery in the morning, and they do some limited breakfast sandwhiches. They also have some good pizza in the evening. Watch their hours, they can be strange. You never forget that you?re isolated on an island at Scudder. You either love it, or you hate it. I love it!

we spent three days here in early august. Good facility but under a boil water advisory while we were there os no topping off the tanks. Only the center peir of docks have power. The staff is accomodating ,the restaurants and bars are comfortable and basic and are within reasonable walking distance. You can rent bikes and have them delivered to the marina. The general culture here is laid back and trusting. A pleasant place to kick back and "smell the roses"

Going from Leamington marina to Scudder is like going back in time. Scudder has showers and such (do not drink the water) but it is night and day compared to Leamington. Yet, Scudder is quiet and the sunsets are photogenic. A restaurant-bar is a short walk. There is transportation to the winery and other facilities on the other end of the island.
