Reviews for Scotts Creek Marina
over the top nice people!, 2016-07-11
Captain: , beaufort sc (20)

the wife and I stopped there and left boat for 2 months. had air condition problems and the owner had service people check it out while we were back home. clean bath house . we will be back. I even had the dock master wash down and clean boat.

Isolated and Underwater at High Tide, 2016-05-13
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (95)

This was a poor choice late in the day in bad weather. Nowhere to go without a taxi and once the tide came in the finger piers were underwater.

Small, funky, friendly, 2016-02-02
Captain: , Austin, Texas (140)

Stayed here 3 nights in February 2016 on our late way south. Pretty basic at that time of year, but that's expected. Friendly staff, great rate. Scott's Creek is a pretty industrial area, but there's a Food Lion ~ 2 1/2 miles away.

The Gilligans Island of marinas......, 2015-10-22
Captain: , Huron,OH - Little River, SC (630)

... a little out of the way, and off the beaten path, but, a little bit of paradise non the less !
If a friendly and attentive staff make a good marina, then this would be among the best. Everyone there seemed to be attuned to the needs of the docker, weather it be short, medium, or long term...... all of which are present at this marina.
Facilities are not brand new, but are well kept and clean. Nice mini ships store with essential items, an area for the mornings free coffee and general gathering, and clean restrooms that fit the rest of the facility.
If sightdeeing in Norfolk or Portsmouth are a priority, then you would choose another location. However, if you want a good place to for overnight dockage, or, to lay up for a trip home, then this is your spot.

A CUT ABOVE, 2015-05-22
Captain: , Victoria Harbour (50)

The staff of Willie, Scott and the Manager Bill, went above and beyond what is required of a marina. From the pristine kept lawn and garden to the pool to the nice wide docks, everything was clean well kept. They made you feel like one of the family. On arrival we had two staff help us at the dock. We are 43 feet with a hanging dingy on davits with a sundeck, so our only option is bow in. The finger docks are fixed and short, but if that is the only complaint one has then so be it. We are seniors and managed by climbing over the hand rail and using a small stool on the dock. Staff did offer to try to find something more substantial for us but not necessary. We left our boat for a month to go back home and found it was completely looked after even during a storm. Enterprise is 1.5 miles and will pick you up. A few miles to the main stretch of WalMart, West Marine, Boater World and huge shopping plaza. Laundry is free, clean and easily accessible. Showers/washrooms spotless. A book exchange, small store and internet available. Pump out is $ 5. to $ 10. depending on the size of your tank. Pump out is brought to your slip. Bill even drove hubby to the hardware store for a needed part. We were sorry that we would miss the Memorial Day BBQ they host for everyone there.

Wintering was great, 2015-05-20
Captain: , Haiku, HI (251)

Our boat was stored here from June 2014-May 2015. Good monthly rates, good caretaking at $50/mo, diving service available to check zincs and growth, other services possible as well. Complicated to get to it by road and there are liveaboards so security is above average. Manager and staff are fine folks and easy to work with. Definitely worth considering.

Great Value, 2014-11-21
Captain: , Portland, Maine (845)

Ellsworth, Bill and Isa make sure you have a great stay at Scott's creek. Clean showers and bathroom and a free laundry make this a tremendous value and the dock rate is rock bottom. Pool was closed but looks to be a nice perk during the warmer months. Only downside is no shopping nearby. Ellsworth helped us dock and gave us the rundown on the facility. Bill gave us some cruising tips going south.

A Big Surprise, 2014-11-14
Captain: , Shady Side, MD (115)

I'm a commuter cruiser. Two weeks on and up to four weeks back home. I left my boat here for four weeks this fall. The price was fantastic!! The people were great, friendly, and very helpful. The surrounding area is industrial with docks, trucks, trains, and big navy boats and to me a bit more interesting than the high priced marinas. The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained as was the entire property. I would definitely stop here again and again without hesitation.

good marina, 2014-10-10
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (10)

great little marina to stop in or keep your boat at.. reasonably priced for a few days stay or a peminant dock.. staff very friendly.. live aboards welcome.. swimming pool, small shop, showers, laundry, all good facilities.. only draw back is no fuel... but fuel is close by...

different experience, 2014-06-14
Captain: , Bourne, Ma (230)

I had a much different experience than the rest of the reviews indicate. We called ahead and were told notbody would be there to help but was given the slip and dock number. We were told first dock slip number 424 which was the third slip in. Well the docks are numbered from 1 to 4 dock 1 was the fouth one down and 4 was the 1st. in any case we did find the slip after realizing what was meant was dock 4 slip24 which was the third from shore. Ok, a little miscommunication. Two tenants were there and did not know where the slip was by the description given to us. A liveaboard came over and told us where it was. The three helped me get into the slip, with difficulty, maybe my inability made it difficult. In any case first I went bow first and realized the slip dock was too short, I would not be able to exit the vessel form the side. So I then backed in. Again the wood dock was 5 to 10 ft too short. This is a 36 ft gulfstar. It was suggested I use a ladder from the swim platform. Not safe especially with a 2 year old child. We left and went to another marina. The positive to this is that that two days later the manager called me and was deriously interested in what happened. He explained he had been out for a month and had been having some problems. I got the inpressiom that impression he did hafe an area that could accomodate my vessel and had no idea whay I was assigned slip 424. I do believe he was going to do something about the situaton. Probably would not go back but this does not mean with the correct questions it would not be a great place to stop.

Stayed here a couple months, best price on the loop yet!, 2014-06-08
Captain: , Bayou Bonfouca, LA- Great Loop Cruiser (708)

We called several of the marinas around the area and checked prices. Scott's Creek was the least expensive by a LOT. I read the previous posts about it being small, but I had no problem with my 52 foot trawler.
The staff here are wonderful. They take pride in the service they provide.
The bathhouse and laundry are clean and convenient, but dated.
The docks are fixed wood. Nice swimming pool, and quiet area. They even have a small ships store for necessities.
Plan a cab ride to anywhere.
Call Bill, the manager, he'll go out of his way to make you feel welcome.

Great Place off the beaten path, 2014-05-08
Captain: , Everett, Washington (824)

If you are looking for a stop that is quiet, protected, off the beaten path and the staff is really nice and the live-a-boards are a plus, then this is the place. We stayed here for three nights in May. Bill, the manager is first rate and his staff are helpful and competent. Renting a car is a have-to if you want to see anything outside of this industrial area. Enterprise was only a couple miles a way and we used the car to sight see the region. Though the docks are fixed, we had no issues with our 29 foot Ranger Tug. The moorage rate, the daily power rate and the free laundry all made this a great place to stay.

A great family marina, 2013-05-20
Captain: , Hartfield (281)

I don't want to just repeat what all the others say, but this is truly a nice place with helpful staff. Because of it's location, it's much better if you have a car. We left our boat here for four days to drive up to DC in a rental car and the boat was perfectly safe and protected. We are thinking about leaving the boat here in the winter because the rates are really good and it is very close to some charming parts of Hampton and Norfolk if you have a car.

Nice Marina, 2013-05-14
Captain: , Westport CT (311)

This is a nice little marina. It's in a very industrial area, so if you want to go anywhere (grocery, restaurant) you need a car or a cab. I was going to stay 5 nights at waterside (norfolk) for $7.5 / ft plus elec, but also needed somewhere to leave my boat for a little while. This was a great alternative as the monthly rate of $7 was cheaper than 5 days at waterside. Several liveaboards are there.. great people. Nice dockmater. Pool in summer (it was too cold to use it yet) clean showers and bathrooms, free laundry, slipside pumpout.

Very Nice Staff (e fallam portugues tambem), 2012-12-09
Captain: , Charleston SC (693)

I left my 48 ft vessel here in the spring of 2012 for about a month. You will not find a friendlier or more helpful staff than Scotts Creek Marina. Price was really good too.

Our issue was that we are 48 ft and the longest slip they have is really only for about a 42 ft boat. We squeezed in but it was tight to make the turn. The first day the wind was blowing from the east at 20 kts and we were helpless. We tied up to another slip and waited until the wind subsided to move. Even still it was dicey getting into the slips and disembarking via the tiny finger piers is tricky (especially after a few adult beverages).

All in All if you are less than 42 ft this is a GREAT marina that is very reasonably priced with nice showers and a god basic needs store.

Nice Surprise, 2012-04-11
Captain: , Port Aransas, Texas (998)

A quiet marina away from the downtown meaning remote. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Office closes at 1700 but the marina asked someone to stay late to help docking. Pool is open in the summer and there are BBQ grills for boaters. Shower facilities are very clean and appointed.

Very nice Staff, Nice location, quiet!

Scott Creek Marina, 2008-03-20
Captain: , Norfolk Va (12)

Scott Creek is a nice little marina. Slip fees are competative, and much cheaper than Virginia Beach Marinas. It is located right off the Intercoastal and is surrounded by industrial areas. The staff is friendly and helpful, the restroom facilities are always clean and maintained. The pool is open in the summertime and a limited number of liveaboards are allowed. There is a small store that sells ice, drinks, snacks, some fishing and boat maintenance items.
