Reviews for Scorpion's New Port Marina
First Class Service and Repairs, 2014-11-21
Captain: , Kemah, TX (612)

I have enjoyed (actually) watching the work completion on our trawler we purchased in September of this year. Erik, owner and yard manager, is friendly, professional, and thorough. Their prices are reasonable, technicians are well prepared for the tasks at hand, and for those of us who are cruisers and 1) have no other place to stay and 2) need to do work on our own projects, we give our highest regards as they allow us to stay aboard even on the hard, and complete work we need to get done. First class, Thanks Erik and crew

Fair price, good work and great people. Will go there again when needed. This is also a DIY yard

Survey location, 2013-10-23

Port Canaveral Marine did the haulout for our survey of a 42' Leopard cat. Knowledgeable staff, friendly and on schedule. Nice facilities and good location. Will use again for service.

Always meets my expectations, 2013-04-25

Port Canaveral is my home port. I take my Hatteras to Scorpions for all my bottom painting. I have been dealing with Erik and his staff for well over 8 years. The work is always done in a timely manner and if there are ever any added fees I am always contacted and asked for approval before they continue. My boat does get dusty from being outside in the yard but, it is an outside working marina.

They went beyond our expectations, 2012-06-26

We came into Scorpion to have the bow thruster installed by Florida Bow Thrusters. When the boat was hauled there was unexpeced work that need to be done to the running gear. Eric had an estimate for the necessary work within a few hours and the staff jumped to get the work done in record time. The staff worked long hours and got the work done on our schedule and on their estimated costs. We found Eric and his staff extremly competent and working with them was a pleasure. We will be going back.

Bottom work and Detailing, 2012-04-04

This is the second time I had the boat hauled painted and waxed by Scorpion. Last time was in 2010. Both times the work and the effort by the workers was excellent. I found the price for the work to be appropriate.

My wife went home for easter but I lived on the boat while the work was being done.

There is work going on all around you so take precaustions as needed since both the work and the wind changes. All work done on my boat was with ground covers and vacumn sanders.
Only major portions of the yard a paved.

We had the bottom of our 42' trawler painted...they did decent work but ran a terrible operation. The yard left a film of dust on the boat that took numerous days to wash off - there's no vacuum system to collect bottom paint dust from the several boats being worked on in the same area. We had a disagreement with the owner, Erik, over damage done to our RHIB while at the yard - very difficult person to deal with, you usually end up talking to the receptionist (who knows nothing about boats!) because Erik isn't around and won't return calls.

We won't be going back, would not recommend this place to anyone...wish there was a rating lower than one star!

Good work, but other issues, 2012-01-20
Captain: , Lewis Creek, Md (1214)

We recently had our cat pulled and the bottom painted together with changing of batteries and some other work. No complaints on the work, it seemed good quality. We did have other issues though. The boat was stored in an area where a fair amount of bottom work was done. There was a fine layer of grit on the outside which took 3 washings to clean. There was also a fair amount of grit inside, probably from the door being open. Also, the boat was going to there 4 weeks and we left the frig and freezer on. We were warned that there might be a problem, which we accepted. We just ask to keep the boat on A/c for charging. The freezer did fine because the 12 volt breaker is not on the main panel. Every 12 volt switch was closed off so the frig was off for a bit enough that everything was warm and mostly soiled. The marina did warn that there might be a problems, but leaving the 12 volt panel switch for the frig on would have saved a major hassel. Freezer survived well.

May 2011, I had bow thruster installed and a bottom job done on a 33 Morgan OI and was very well satisfied with the job. I'll go there again for work, should I be in the area and need work done.
