Reviews for Schoonmaker Point Marina
One of the best!, 2017-08-09
Captain: , San Francisco (30)

Well maintained marina in one of the best spots on the Bay. Close to Angel Island, Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco shoreline. Weather you heading out of the gate or looking for a nice day of sailing on the Bay, you cannot go wrong with it. The staff is friendly and guest docks are available year round. Calling ahead of your visit to reserve a dock is recommended, as it can be quite busy.

Nice marina, 2016-10-09

Stayed the night of 9/19/2016. Side tie on F dock. Clean showers and nice facilities. Never saw any homeless people and anchor out live aboards bypassed our dock in their dinghy's. Gates to each dock were locked.

Nice Marina. Nice showers. We were on F dock side tie. $1.25 per ft. 30 amp was $3. Wanted to visit the Bay Model. Closed Sunday and Monday while we were there. We will return.

Good facility but poor security and homeless/anchor-out issues, 2015-10-26
Captain: , Annapolis MD (390)

We enjoyed our stay at Schoonmaker but visitors should be aware that it is a major gathering point for the city's large homeless population and anchor-out community so you will be meeting some interesting characters and a few of them will be unpleasant (although the majority are very nice or at least non-intrusive). Avoid D dock if possible as it has no security and is used as a dinghy dock by the anchor-out folks. The marina's beach is a plus for water sports and the facilities are generally fine if dated and worn. Very expensive at $2/foot for transient, plus $10/day for 50 amp power, but they can charge what they want given the lack of transient slips on the Marin side of the Bay. Very friendly and helpful staff who were dealing with a challenging office move but still great to deal with.

Lots to Like, 2014-09-18

Yes, there were a few times when I could nt make contact with the HarborMaster, but it was not an issue for us. There side ties made it nice for our catamaran. The internet and showers were good and part of the transient pricing (no extra costs). The HarborMaster was helpful providing a welcome package, etc. We were able to quickly find the services we needed (diver and sailmaker). Don't miss breakfast at Freds and dinner at Saylors - both just up the street by the laudramat. Be advised that the West Marine has moved and is quite a hike. The local folks on the dock were all great and we really enjoyed our stay.

Very nice marina. Decent wifi. Reasonablly good security. Gates open 8 to 8. Closer to town than Clipper Yacht Harbor. $1.25/foot PLUS $10/day for power. Clipper Yacht Harbor is slightly less per foot.

Dockmaster no show, 2012-11-17
Captain: , San Francisco (40)

Like someone else said, it's a great location, but we arrived and the dockmaster was nowhere to be found and they hadn't left the key as they said they would if they left. That meant no access to showers that we wanted before going out to dinner. The nice thing was walking everywhere. For breakfast we ate at this little cafe nearby (sorry but I can't remember the name). We sat at the counter and watched with awe at the cook how does his magic right in front of you.

Harbor Master Availability, 2011-03-15
Captain: , coyote pt, san francisco bay (60)

Great location, but more than once, I've had problems locating the harbor master on Saturday afternoon when I've arrived with a reservation. On one Saturday, my reserved slip was taken and the harbor master didn't show until Sunday!

Great spot for an overnight in Sausalito!, 2007-02-05

The facilities, from the docks to the showers, are clean. The marina includes a sizeable beach, and is within walking distance to many restaurants and markets. In addition, the USACE Bay Model is just next door. A scale model of the bay, including the tide cycles (they flood it with water), makes this a must-see for anyone navigating the bay.
