Reviews for Sarasota Yacht Club
Great facility, 2016-06-06
Captain: , Indian Rocks Beach (296)

We stayed there for a long weekend recently. It is a beautiful location with helpful staff, a large pool overlooking the water, restaurant and outdoor areas for groups. It is about a 15 minute walk to St. Armands Circle with shopping and upscale restaurants. Will definately be back!

Great Place but need dock help on Sunday., 2016-02-08
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (216)

Had a great time here. The only issue was getting the dockmaster to communicate with us when trying to get into the marina. He would not respond on channel 16. I called the office twice on the cell and finally got him to respond.

Elegant club with outstanding facilities, 2015-02-03
Captain: , Clearwater, FL (270)

Spent one night at this private facility in Sarasota. Spectacular building and facilities, with a very professional dock staff. Full service. A-docks are very exposed to south winds from nearby Big Pass.

Transients Still Welcomed, 2014-03-12
Captain: , Punta Gorda. FL (360)

A great FCYC club for those with reciprocity. Nearby St Armand's Circle shopping makes it a must for the Admiral. Despite recent rumors of limited transient slip availability, our reservations for two boats were welcomed. The approach channel is actually easy but the southern end remains a bit tricky with confusing markers, a marked shoal in the apparent middle of the Big Sarasota Pass channel, a small sign indicating the way to SYC, and red markers that are actually red-bordered white triangles, difficult to see in lower visibility conditions. There are excellent but high fixed docks, making getting onto or off the boat a little difficult at low tide. Docking in the slips can be challenging due to wind and tidal current combinations. The modern club facilities, while elegant, are a bit barny, not intimate. Food and service is very good. Additional topnotch facilities include a great pool, fine showers and an excellent work out room.

Pricey, but worth it, 2013-04-04
Captain: , Buffalo (832)

aff was wonderful; beautiful facilities that even the Admiral cannot say no to. We paid $2.75

A most impressive club, 2012-12-21
Captain: , jackson, TN (884)

Newly renovated club house is elegant with two bars, two restaurants, pool, fitness center, immaculate heads/showers etc. Staff is friendly and attentive.
Rate of $2/ ' isn't cheap, but commerical marinas in the area are $2.25 to 2.50, so not a bad deal. Must be member of reciprocal club and have letter from your club with you or faxed that you are a member in good standing.
Clubhouse facitly is as nice as you'll find in North America and worth the stop just to see and enjoy. St. Armands Circle shopping is within a mile with very upscale shops and dining. Trolly comes by club for transportation into Sarasota.

Snob Appeal, 2011-07-11
Captain: , Terra Ceia Bay, Florida (80)

Beautiful dock and facility, but prices too high and snob appeal intolerable. Better places to spend my money

A very impressive yacht club., 2011-03-03
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (648)

Wow! Haven't eaten there, but it is a spectacular facility.

Captain: , Castine, Maine (110)

The SYC has recently undergone a huge renovation -- very expensive, very chic. The jury is still out on this one.

New SYC is more like a resort, 2010-06-02
Captain: , Longboat Key Florida (10)

New facilirty great staff, Service was above average. The new club reminds you of a resort. I would recommend staying there again.

New Clubhouse is Finished., 2010-05-31
Captain: , Ft. Myers (406)

The clubhouse is finished and is very impressive. We stayed two days. Dinner was good and reasonably priced. Liquor prices for presicely measured drinks are absurd, howver, and if they say Happy Hour is over at 7, the computer will make sure that no gets a HH drink at 7:01. Capt. Terry is the Dockmaster and will make your stay an enjoyable one.

St Armand's Circle is a 15 minute walk. There are many quirky shops and some great places to eat. Columbia is one of our favorites. Cafe L'Europe is well regarded also. Cha Cha Coconuts next to Columbia (and owned by them) is a great lunch spot for island fare.

Nice Private YC, 2009-10-06
Captain: , FL West Coast (136)

new club house under construction so club is now in a tent. easy walk to St Armand’s Circle where the admiral may find many places to exercise the credit card. Good restaurants there as well. Very long walt to Sarasota downtown though free busses do run weekdays
