Reviews for Sarasota Sailing Squadron
Best little Sail Squadron ever, 2016-11-17
Captain: , Long Beach, MS (50)

Stopped here in Nov for 2 nights on our way to Fort Myers. We are a 56 ft Sail boat probably the biggest ever here. They were shocked that we got it in and turned around as it is a small place, With the help of everyone (there was 6 or 7 people on the dock helping) we managed to get it turned around without hitting either the boat in front or the boat in back of us. And let me tell you it was a close one. The one in back of us - well actually it was on the side when we almose hit it. It is actually a large sailing Squadren for small sail boats, with a few large sail boats moored out front. You have to watch out for the sand bar when you come in as we almost hit it because we came in at dusk and didn't see it so stay in the markers in turn just after sign and before dock. Showers are great, Laundry has the best price as well as the best prices ever for docking. The people are friendly and even ice was only $2.00 a bag. Internet was great we din't have any problems here. Our friend needed a part for his boat and they found it in their workshop and gave it to him. They have a great work shop with all kinds of tools. We didn't go to town.

Stopped in during a storm and was welcomed, even helped out around to keep everybody else safe. Thanks you so much SSS.

Nice Place, Friendly People, 2015-01-21
Captain: , Stuart FL (778)

Laid back, homey atmosphere. Nothing fancy. Buildings a bit rustic but charming; showers and restrooms clean. Best deal in Sarasota.

Easy Living, 2014-11-13
Captain: , Anna Maria Island, FL (10)

We stop by a few times a year for either a long weekend or a week. Staff is friendly and locals are, too. Very open and nice. Facilities are well kept and clean. Not super fancy by any means, has a great "lived in feeling" here. Don't have to be members to stay here. Lot's to do around town and the Mote Aquarium is next door.

Great place to keep your boat especially if you do all your own work. Nice work area with lift for larger boats and boom for raising your mast.

Classic old Fla sailing club, 2012-11-27
Captain: , Sarasota, Fl (168)

Welcoming, active and friendly to sailors and a great spot. As it says "sailing squadron" and not "boating" it means just that, sailing. Power boats not welcome in any shape or form. There are plenty of nearby marinas for your PB so simply move on. As former sailors, now power boaters, we miss the squadron and it's exclusive sailing roots but unless I rig a sail we'll move on.

Very Helpful, 2011-11-18
Captain: , Flagler Beach, Florida 32136 (305)

Lost engine water pump near here in April 2011. Came in, broke down. Squadron office personnel was very helpful in getting a mechanic to fix my problem. Stayed two nights with a very friendly bunch of sailors. Nice people and very helpful.

Old Florida Sailing at its best, 2011-07-02
Captain: , Sarasota,Fl (14)

The squadron hosts regattas all year round for nearly any type of sailor from windsurfers to large keel boats. Visitors are usually enchanted by the friendly and casual ambience. Dock space is available for short time transients. Trailer "docked" boats can put in at the ramp or with a hoist. The cruising community is also quite active so whatever your interest, it is likely that you can find some kindred souls.
