Reviews for Sanitary Seafood Restaurant
dock and dinner, 2017-04-10

3/20/2017 Great place to tie up and have dinner. Good food.

Great restaurant with sturdy overnight docking, 2017-02-09
Captain: , Moyock, NC (1054)

2017 Feb06 We've been here several times. It's a nice water front area to walk and other places to go whiled docked overnight for $25 if you eat at the restaurant. Sanitary Seafood's menu and food is good with full size seafood dinners, lighter seafood dinners, a senior menu, a variety of choices for lunch, and desserts that are out of this World. They typically are closed during the month of January for annual renovations. Today when we stopped by out of typical season they were closing at 2:30 pm. We ordered their "Open Special" flounder and shrimpe to go, since we arrived after 2 pm. Previousl we've had lunch, then returned to have dessert later in the evening. People are nice. Toilets are available while the restaurant is open. It's an easy in and out side-tie on a long dock.

Great Food and 25. to stay overnight., 2016-10-22

Great dock and great food.

boring imported seafood, 2015-01-28

overrated restaurant, fried everything

One of my favorite stops, 2014-11-01
Captain: , Chesapeake (261)

Yea, there's no one to help you with your lines. And there's no electricity. But the Sanitary Restaurant offers you a floating dock, large enough to fit three pretty good sized boats; southern hospitality through their restaurant and services within walking distance. All for $25/night. Can't beat it.

Great old time restaurant, 2013-10-22
Captain: , Michigan (583)

Waitress gave us excellent recommendations - all was delicious. We will definitely stop again - might even see if dock is available. There were two boats tied up while we were dining - looked comfortable.

Easy stop just off the ICW, 2013-10-11
Captain: , Corpus Christi,Tx (1569)

We stopped here in order to have dinner and stay for the night. The meal was good (6.5 out of a 10) and you get plenty. It is a first come first serve dock but we found enough room-- however there was a small fishing boat which was tied to the dock and was there when we left--took up room for over nighters. Room for about 3 to 4 cruising boats.
Docks are floating and in good shape.

great stop for food, 2013-08-12
Captain: , Fort Pierce, FL (380)

We stop here just as they were opening for lunch on Saturday and we were the first to arrive at the docks. No dock hands here. Easy dock to get to. Lunch food and service was great. Janice was a true delight to have as a waitperson . wwWould recommend this stop, did not spend the night just move on to Beaufort.

Good easy dock, 2013-06-11
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1550)

Floating tie alongside dock, plenty of cleats and dock in good condition. No facilities but a good overnight and great place to eat.

Safe Dock, Good Price, 2013-04-26
Captain: , Mount Sinai (31)

We stayed overnight in a blow. Long, easily approached floating dock. There are a couple of bars/grills nearby, and a gas station convenience store across the street

A local Favorite, 2012-12-12
Captain: , deltaville (90)

Seems its been around for a long time. Kind of a wide open informal setting but the food was good and the portions were big. Great sweet tea, I just love fresh brewed sweet tea and theirs was at the top of my list.

2012 Oct 3 Stop, 2012-10-04
Captain: , Colonial Beach, VA (650)

Owner was on site and gave us a pass on the $25/night fee for overnight (no water nor electric) if we ate dinner. Without eating at restaurant the advertised fee is $1/oot. The meal was good (6 on scale of 10) and they had seniors menu with smaller portions of all seafood and beef at about $11 per plate. Well worth the stop.

Good Food no power, 2012-07-24
Captain: , N.C. USA (110)

The food is good, But there is no power at the docks. There are plenty of close by places to shop and a great art gallery (36 north)

No Electric , No water, $25 when you buy a dinner., 2012-07-10
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

Beats $100 at other places. Thank God for the Honda Generators and AC, , it's 90 today!
Local rouwdy bar is closed.

Fresh Seafood, 2012-05-23
Captain: , Philadelphia (331)

There's a reason this place has been around for 63 years. Order the fish of the day, it usually is locally caught and fresh.
The Lemon pie is worth saving room for.
John the host is very knowledgable on all things Morehead City
and will fix any problems with your meal.

Not worth it., 2012-04-21
Captain: , Killarney (174)

Assembly-line cafeteria food served on cafeteria dishes. Uninteresting and unappetising. Nice floating dock.

No water or elec., but a great place to stay, 2011-09-23
Captain: , Buffalo (1154)

Excellent floating dock, great Restaurant food, and only $25 a night

Floating dock is now open, 2011-08-18
Captain: , Kings Creek Marina (766)

As per 17 August 11, water at the new floating dock is 15ft deep at low tide. Tide runs 4 to 5 feet. Tie up at the floating dock is unassisted on a first come, first served basis (Grab it and Growl). $25.00/night if you eat dinner there. $1.00/foot if you do not eat there. The $1.00/foot applies when they are closed, the Sunday after Thanksgiving until the first Friday in February.

New floating dock, 2011-08-03

Old dock was rebuilt as seating for the new bar. New floating dock now open at $25/night. Ramp on east end of dock for access.

Docks are now open., 2011-08-02
Captain: , Emerald Isle (11)

The docks have been replaced and are a nice improvement. Food is good but a little pricey for the portion size. Best lemon pie I have ever had, next to my beautiful wife's.

Still no docking allowed, 2011-06-21
Captain: , Kingston, Ontario (1970)

Their food has gone down hill and now no docking, wont be spending my money there any more. Ruddy Duck is a superior eatery IMHO.

No docking now, 2011-04-27
Captain: , Havre de Grace, MD (299)

Called 4/27/11. No docking allowed now. Dock has been rebuilt, no access from water. We were told that the intent is, in the near future, to put in floating docks for patrons to use when visiting the restaurant.

Good Eats and safe, 2010-10-15
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

We try to always stay here as we travel north/south. Otherwise, we stay at MC Yacht Basin

Traditional stopover, 2010-05-17
Captain: , Palm City, Fl (105)

Lots of history to the restraurant. Good food at reasonable price. Still $10 for overnight hookups and dock is a little rough but solid. Be aware that some pilings on the outside don't go to ground and are out of the water at low tide, so watch your fenders. Lots of activity from fishing boats at all hours. Close to a variety of shopping. Seafood market at the dock.

interesting name, 2010-04-24
Captain: , Worton (445)

Great, simple, old fashion restaurant. $10 docking, no water or electric or requirement to eat there. All in great downtown Morhead City. Stop in for the seafood festival.

OK food., 2009-06-16
Captain: , Wrightsville Beach, NC (368)

2008 Update, 2008-08-30
