Reviews for Sands Harbor Marina
One of my favorites, 2016-11-30

After stopping at many marinas in the south florida area Sands has become one of my favorites. The marina is secure with new gates, access to the pool is included and the staff is awesome. From my perspective the fixed pier docks are in great shape,,, aging but well taken care of. We finally decided to keep our boat here for several months a year and thouroughly enjoy the area with publix and about anything else you could want within walking distance.

New Stained Docks, 2015-12-17

Great stay, seems like they cleaned up the place with new stained docks, and guard gates for each dock and there are 3 restaurants on the property with bars cleaned up as well. Would stay again.

The docks are run down, there was no assistance in landing the boat. We told them we needed a slip for a 15 foot beam and they put is in a slip that was 14'6'' wide. We hardly needed to tie the boat up. We did find the pool refreshing and those chicken wings (5 star) are great.

Insecure location, 2014-07-15

I put a clients boat into the dock on Monday July 14th for their arrival at about 6pm. The dockhand was great. Got into the slip fine. Got some help from others as I was singlehanding. I hooked up to electric but sometime while I was gone it went down. On tuesday they repaired whatever the problem was and said I should be satisfied with the 208volts i was getting.
That is one reason for the 1 star but here is the real reason.
Right after the owners arrived they went to dinner. During that time their boat was robbed and boxes that had been shipped down (they just bought the boat) had been stolen and we understood that 3 other boats had also been hit in that hour.
When talking with people on the docks they confirmed that this was not an isolated case. Several other people working stated that they would not stay there. One of my clients friends saw the guys running away and chased them. when the police showed up he pointed one of them out and the officer did nothing, just asked if he actually saw them take the stuff off the boat... so the guys got away.
The boat next to this one decided to leave in the morning and I was called to move the boat immediately. The dockmaster would not address the issues when the owner tried to talk with him. The dockhand was left alone to deal with it.
So... as they say... buyer beware. Maybe you won't have a problem but my client did. We are now in Delray.

Great Taste Of Relaxed Florida!, 2014-06-22

This was actually a great stop for us. The whole staff is very friendly and I don't understand a couple of the OLDER reviews. When we called for our arrival, using a cell phone, like most people do today, a dock staff helped us in and everything went great. There was a little wake, but that's the way things are in this area and it wasn't bad at all. The marina has new decking and cool blue lighting at night! We stayed for a week and they gave us a discount on fuel for staying with them. I would certainly recommend them passing through.

Decking on docks has been repaired, 2013-01-11
Captain: , Athens, AL (641)

Some of the old posts note a concern for the condition of the docks. They have been repaired with all new decking. Easy walk to the beach. Riverside Grille at the hotel was outstanding but one huge negative is you have to smell it constantly, increasing the appetite for even more food! I never used the marina restrooms/showers so can't speak to them. I always just used the restrooms at the hotel and showered on the boat. Nice employees are Ron and Gil. I went to the dockmaster's office (Ron) to get some recommendations for locating Borg-Warner transmission o-ring and gasket to fix a slow leak. Gil spoke up and had just finished a rebuild on the same transmission and didn't use the parts I needed. He offered to give them to me and had them there the same day - now that's a good staff and nice people. We were on the outside and there is lots of traffic through there but we didn't think it was a big deal. Stayed 5 days, no problems, price was good for what you got. Frank's Pizza a couple of blocks away was lousy.

zero if I could rate it that, 2012-12-20

Run down dock. Bad bathrooms. No answer on vhf, had to pull up to fuel dock to find out where to tie up, rolly anchorage. Skip this place if you can.......

One of two day stopover, 2012-04-10
Captain: , Sanford, FL (657)

Price isn't real bad, but high for the amenities. Long walk to register and pay, restaurant and bar on site. Between two low bridges that are on a schedule. Tide swings are about two feet so be prepared to adjust. limited wake protection.

Okay- could be better for the price, 2011-04-13

Kind of run down docks- in the process of fixing and replacing boards. No dock carts available- Annoying. Wakes can be bad sometimes, but overall, not so bad.

No so nice, needs some paint., 2010-09-22

The upstairs bar is closed. Docks run down and fixed. Advertised $1 a foot, but then had a 50 ft min. Mislleading.

Fuel Dock Review, 2009-04-07
Captain: , Atlanta, GA, USA (33)

PROS - Friendly staff, good prices, frequent fueler club, ethanol free fuel, easy access, pump out
CONS - Minor issue - close to ICW - don't stay long because of potential wakes - go tie up at Houstons (directly across the ICW) and have a great burger

Not bad, Not great, 2009-02-25
Captain: , East Greenbush, NY (745)

We stopped here on our way to Ft. Lauderdale. The good - cheap for the area, BoatUS discount, pool, close to the beach, on the waterway so you can't get simpler for in and out. The bad - the docks are fixed and there is a decent tide, so at low your lines are taught, at high you're bouncing against the piers. The place is a bit old and the bathrooms/showers need, well, updating. Fuel prices were also good when we were here. As I said, not bad, not great - excellent for a day or two stop, but I wouldn't necessarily stay here for longer.
