Best approach is close aboard the westernmost long cement dock and then diagonally across to the marked fuel dock. The water south of the peninsula formed by the narrow north fork and Kitching Cove to the north of Sandpiper Marina is notoriously shallow and strewn with underwater debris.

Reviews for Sandpiper Bay Marina
Management Acceptable, Host of other issues, 2016-09-06

This was our home dock for a year. Darren was attentive but there were many issues and they could never figure out how to setup invoicing and we were double billed on two months. When compared with Loggerhead, another nearby marina, it seems like you get less for your money. The Marina makes a bid deal of available "Club Med" membership but it's a big additional cost, so beware.

First this marina is attached to, but not managed by Club Med. We had many inconsiderate dock walkers and on several occasions had people board our boat thinking it was part of club med. There are no access controls and there are no signs alerting people that the yachts are private property. Although nothing was ever stolen we would come back to cocktail and drink glasses on our boat from the resort.

Water supply was ok. We had numerous issues with "broken water mains". Not enough water outlets for the amount of slips meant that people would often remove our supply line and leave disconnected.

Power was ok. However the Marina doesn't have modern pylons,

Water quality is a huge issue and we had huge amounts of growth. We were not advised before signing a lease that the St Lucie river is undergoing oyster recovery and seeding. We had many issues with strainers and intakes clogging due to oyster larva. NOT GOOD.

The water is disgusting. Dirty, foul, smelly blue'green algae.

Not very well protected from the south.

Stayed a couple months. Will not be back, 2016-07-18

We came in with our new (to us) boat. The rates seemed reasonable enough however there were some problems that caused us to move elsewhere fast.

The water quality in the marina is horrible. Polluted water from Lake Okeechobbee hurts. We saw huge problems with what I think are oysters that totally clogged all of our strainers. Hundreds of dollars in damage and repairs.

Club Med dock walkers are a huge problem. Normally dock walkers aren't that big a deal, but it seems that the Club Med crowd doesn't respect private property and we had people on more than one occasion try to board for "photos".

Water supply was continuously cutting out. It was a running joke about the "water main break" emails/notices. Water smelled very funny.

Wifi is offered in both EAST and WEST access points. However speeds are very slow and connections extremely spotty. Nothing you can count on. They even had Comcast threaten to disconnect service because people were downloading copyright/porn. The marina sent a mass email.

Power wasn't very good. Nothing marine grade.

Darren was ok. helpful enough, seems to care more about the power cats they are selling. Rudeness and attitude from the woman in the office. It's like we had to do it "her way". She lives there in a big boat .

Not close to ANYTHING.

Cost vs Amenities. The Club Med ammenities cost $$$$ extra. We went to another local marina and pay about the same rates and have acecss pool, club all included

Fantastic staff running a great marina, 2015-12-18

I spent almost two months here this fall. Darren is one of the best dockmasters you'll find anywhere. Made space for me in a crowded marina and is always on top of everything. Nice bunch of permanent live aboards too. The location is great but you'll need a car to do any shopping. Thanks for a great stay! I'll be back!

No longer cheapest fuel, 2015-02-13
Captain: , Wilmington DE (782)

Dock Master Mindy is very helpful. Best to call by phone for assistance. I'm a local. I enter this area by turing about 20 degrees right at G9-R10 and aim for the house with a blue roof. This will have you steering toward moored sailboats. When off the fuel dock drive directly to it or proceed into Kitching Cove for anchorage off Tarpon Bay Yacht Club condos. Watch for crab pot bouys as you leave the marked channel.

The correct phone number is 772-335-7875. The fuel price today is almost competitive with the best in the area.

Marina is inexpensive good power, water and wifi The walking to all of Club Meds facilities is fantastic at additional expense, but reasonable. 4 swim pools, 20 tennis courts golf. First class food, My 14th winter here.

Quiet Marina, 2012-03-29
Captain: , Full Time Cruisers (2244)

very nice clean marina, concrete docks are old but very safe, be careful of high water pressure at docks, not much boat traffic, 1-2' tides, little or no current

Good Fuel Prices, 2011-11-22
Captain: , Lavallette, NJ (251)

Surprised to find this marina with best diesel fuel prices in Stuart area. Was 5 cents cheaper than Fort Pierce Petro and 2 cents cheaper than best price in Manatee pocket. Although quite a ways from ICW, worth a stop if you are west of Roosevelt Bridge. Dock master monitors local prices to be competitive. Discounts for 100 gal and cash. High speed pump, but only 50' of hose - need to tie close to pump.

Quiet marina with both wood and cement fixed docks in very good condition. Bath house is generally clean. Club Med offers a dinner ticket that's a little expensive per person but it includes a show and open bar for the entire evening. On approach from R10 & G8 aim straight for the end of the long cement dock. There is a long shoal off Fork Point. If you stay your course direct to the dock, there is no shallow water issues. Generally 6' at dead low. The nearest convenience store is a mile walk where there is also and a bar and a decent small Italian restuarant that delivers. Any place else requires a car. Kitching Cove is an excellent anchorage if you prefer.
