Reviews for Sandollar Restaurant and Marina
bleh!!! avoid like the plague......., 2017-08-01

Not even a mediocre representation of Florida Seafood. Should be jailed for cruelty to animals that gave their life for consumption. Docks have been destroyed for years, place burned down, remodeled, no dock replacement. Rumored to be replacing docks since about 2010. Used to be an area staple for coming in from offshore, meal, cold one and across the river to the Ramp Home. Locals sloppy at bar and bar staff more interested in keeping up with that crew than apparently making any real money. Dirty old "mired" feeling. Tabbed with a $20 on two sweet teas and fled hastily. Felt sorry for the poor girl, she apparently couldn't see the sinking of that ship. Take the ferry across to a much better experience. Hurry though, sidewalks roll up around there EARLY for the good spots. Save your money!

We love the Sandollar! It is a great place to have a meal and watch the large ships go by. We love some of their classic meals. Cashew Grouper is the bomb!!! So is the Grouper Palafox!! YUMMY!!

Nice a Owner, 2015-02-18

I made an inquiry by email about possible transient dockage for a trip through the area in April 2015. Lee Utley, I assume the owner, replied to me that the facility is not a "full fledge marina." And that "we have a small space for customers to use while eating and our docks are in need of repair." Lee also offered that there are a couple near by marinas.

I replied to Lee that I was crewing on a boat in 2009 and we came in the St. John's a River entrance late on a Sunday evening. We found his restaurant and they stayed open late so we could enjoy a great meal, and they allowed the boat owner to dock there overnight. The bottom line is that could not have been more kind and helpful.

Lee sent one more email informing me that the outside dock is usable but to "use an abundance of caution." He also said that he has started the bid process for a complete overhaul of the docks.

Sandollar is still on my list of places to stop. The food is very good, and I love the attitude of the owner.

Another free dock!, 2014-06-07

We love free docks, and the food was 7/10. walking the docks here is like walking on floating logs. the docks are shot. I hope they fix them this year, because the restraunt was very nice. will visit again, and risk our necks for good food.

Limited Exposed Dockage, 2011-01-28

Limited dockage - but decent restaurant - good food inexpensive at lunch!

Dockage, 2007-07-21
Captain: , Jacksonville Florida (125)

Limited dockage space on small metal floating dock. Subject to high currents and wave action from passing vessels. Average seafood menu with entertainment on weekends.
