Reviews for Sanctuary Marina
Great New Marina, 2016-08-14
Captain: , Port Isabel TX (640)

We stopped here on our way to Houston. Beautiful marina with only 50 Amp. So if like us you are 30 Amp, you need an adaptor. Self service drop box at the office $1.00 per foot. The showers are fantastic. I usually only shower in my boat, but will use these tonight. Big Pavillion with BBQ, couches and nice comfortable seating for happy hour and dinner. We will stop again.

And we did on August 8, 2016. Still a great stop, still did not see anyone other than ourselves. Probably more large fishing boats in permanent slips, but plently of room for us in a 64' boat.

The Sanctuary - 6/24/16, 2016-06-27
Captain: , Galveston, TX (30)

As others have stated, very nice facility for an overnight stop. Certainly the best choice in the Port OÇonnor area. Clean, easy access......

Nice place but no resteraunt., 2016-06-20
Captain: , Port Isabel, TX (20)

Stopped for one night. As someone else noted, it is not really a marina per se but a very nice subdivision with docks. The showers/restrooms are very nice and clean. There is a covered lounging area with a grill and free ice. There is a metal box next to one of the street side doors for filling out the form and leaving payment. Sailboats = $1/foot. No wifi or other services.

Best choice in Port O'Conner, 2015-09-21
Captain: , Kemah, TX (234)

Never saw less than 7' coming in on 9/20/2015. Facilities are fiirst class. Bathrooms are country club clean. Once docked, the sign in sheet in in the front (street side) of the building on the Southeast Side of the building and a little difficult to spot at first. The swimming pool facilities are off limits to transients. Trash in the dumpster right next to the launch ramp. Please help leave this place like you found it so they continue to welcome transients as it is a welcome stop in Port O'Conner. You will need a 50 amp to 30 amp converter if you are using 30 amp.

Nice stopping point off the ICW, 2015-08-30
Captain: , League City (194)

By far the best marina option in the Port O'Connor area. This is actually just a boater oriented subdivision that happens to allow transients. Don't expect any businesses as, again, this is just a subdivision facility. There are actually showers avaliable and they are of country club quality. There are also a couple of ice machines that pump out all you can use! Depths are an issue. We saw as low as high 5' range at MLLW getting to the slips. Shallowest spots are about half way to the slips from the entrance and also about 150' away from the south facing slips. I uploaded my logged depth transducer data to Navionics SonarCharts and you can view it on their free web app from their website. Payment is by check or cash and is done at the drop box at the front of the building that houses the restrooms.

Wonderful Sanctuary, 2015-08-23
Captain: , Rockport Texas (30)

We stopped at this marina on our way from Kemah to Fulton. Very nice marina with great restrooms and showers. If you only use 30A 120v power you will need an 50A-240v to 30A-120v adapter as the slips only have 50A-240v power. Nice shaded area to relax and enjoy the breeze. I too would have given this marina 5 stars if it had a little store or restaurant nearby. I would stay here again in a minute, and hope to someday!

Nice overnight between Matagorda Harbor and Rockport/Fulton, 2015-08-09
Captain: , CC-TX (43)

Excellent docks, power, water, showers. No shopping. We had to search for the box to register and leave a check. It is on the side of the restroom/showers building, opposite from the docks. Very convenient for an overnight stop but not much to do here.

Another Easy Stop, 2015-03-22
Captain: , Kemah, Tx. (145)

Excellent floating docks. Nice facilities. I'd give it 5 stars if shopping was close by. A bit shallow if you draw over 6', but soft bottom.

Nice docks outside of Port O'conner, 2015-01-19
Captain: , Corpus Christi,Tx (1569)

Nice wide floating docks with 6-7 ft depth. First come, first serve and you pay at a drop box. We tried calling to no avail. Nice grounds but too far out of town for shopping etc. Nevertheless, this is a great stop and we will be here again.

Nice Place, 2015-01-14
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (260)

We spent one night there in October 2014. Nice facility. It's a gated community and several miles from Port O'Conner, if you need supplies or want to go to eat, not convenient, but for a quick overnight, it can't be beat.

Sanctuary for Sanctuary, 2014-10-20
Captain: , Houston Texas (30)

We were returning up the ICW from the 2014 Harvest Moon Regatta and decdied to stop over here. it is a beautiful facility, with very nice restrooms and showers, nice wide floating slips, depth was 6-7 feet with a strong North wind. We spent a fair amount of time trying to get hold of someome. It is strutcly first come first serve, pay at the drop box. It's a great stop.

Gypsy Soul, 2014-07-27
Captain: , Corpus Christi (221)

A great treat...after being beat up outside...we came in @ Port O. And looking for refuge from 30 plus winds and found "Sanctuary" .....Sanctuary is the proper name....we stayed 2 nights drying out and resting before continuing our trip to Port A.

I can only say good things about's on the honor system with nice facilities...I don't know about anything outside the marina because we actually used it for a Sanctuary after spending 24 hours offshore in 30+ winds and 6-10 foot seas...we rested and dried out and then went onto Port A.

Back again, 2014-07-12
Captain: , Port OConnor, Tx (628)

Sure would like to have a full time slip here. The water depths are from 6'3" down to 5' did see 7' for just a moment. Alway clean and beautiful. Very restfull night.

Great find, 2014-04-16
Captain: , Rockport TX (112)

I have been here on our fishing skiff just to look around. We were the only ones there. Beautiful swimming pool and facilities. This is a housing developnent that has struggled to get going, but this marina is a gem.

Great spot, 2014-03-24
Captain: , Kemah (65)

Great Great Great is about all I can say about this jem of a marina

Great place to stop on ICW (7-8 foot depth), 2014-03-22
Captain: , Kemah, TX (35)

Sanctuary Marina - This is a housing development and Marina just east of Statute mile 480. The entrance is very well marked and has bulkhead walls. Enter slowly, at near low tide, we were seeing 7-8 feet of depth.
The Marina is not manned, and is based on an honor system. The docks are nice, new floating docks, with 16-18 foot width. There is 50 amp power.
The clubhouse area has very nicely appointed rest rooms with showers and clean and well lit stalls.
There is a nice patio area with grill and sink and a great seating area with comfortable furniture.

This was a great suprise when we pulled in here for the night.

Price was $1.00 per foot for Sailboats, and Offshore boats (?) were min $50.

Peaceful place to spend a night, 2014-01-29
Captain: , San Marcos, TX (865)

This is our 2nd time to stay here. This stay was one night (11/27/13). New floating dock with 50amp electric and water included in the price. Clean bathrooms/showers, manicured facilities, ice machine. All honor system. We were the only people there. Easy entry from ICW. The off-site manager, Russell, is a pleasure to work with.

Great Facility, 2013-12-18
Captain: , La Porte (30)

Brand new development with floating docks w/ power and water and a wonderful common area within a secure development. No staff on premises. Honor system of payment. Really nice.

Sanctuary Stop Over, 2013-11-27
Captain: , Cypress, Texas (20)

Great place to stop while on ICW between Freeport and Corpus. If you have to come in from off shore it is 5 miles west of Port Oconner. Easy in and out

Limited Facillities but a great stop, 2013-06-20
Captain: , Corpus Christi (240)

Weather kept us at Sanctuary for 3 days. It was a well protected dock with minimal facilities. 50 Amp power at dock. Great showers.
Everything was on the honor system @ $1/ft. During our entire stay we did not see anyone from the marinia. This suited usm fine. Great walking trail for exercise.

Nice facility but unattended., 2013-06-02
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (1283)

We tied up here on 5/4/13 for 1 night. Tide was low and we stirred a lot of mud getting into a slip; depth readings were in the 6' range. This facility is very exposed to prevailing southeast wind.

Marina is not attended but you can call to reserve a slip. Payment is on the honor system - leave a check in a drop box outside the office. Very nice setting and facilities; grounds are well maintained with lots of room for dog to run.

Great protected Stop, 2012-11-26
Captain: , Kettering, Ohio (250)

This is a beautiful property. A well protected stop. However, facility closed. Entrance directly across from Army Hole channel.

Paradise found, 2012-06-27
Captain: , Corpus Christi (161)

Wonderful location. Facility is great with large flotting docks, and all that goes with it. The water is very clean and fun to swim in. The only sad side were the showers -> very nice but no A/C, and somewhat dirty.
We will definitely come back.

Nice Harbor, 2012-02-03
Captain: , New Buffalo, Michigan (780)

Stopped here Jan 14, 2011. Nice marina close to ICW. Beautiful facilities and club house. Neither was open when we stopped. Only one other boat in harbor. Has potential in future. Would like to know how this development turns out.
