Notes

In the past, this was always a 24/7 facility. However, please note that it may be closed during the night which means you will need to wait until morning when agents arrive to clear customs. There are orange mooring balls, presumably for impound, that boaters have used while waiting for agents to arrive in the channel just past the Customs dock.

Recreational vessels under 100 feet in length may clear Customs at the Shelter Island Harbor Police Dock, located at the south end of Shelter Island just as you enter from the main channel. It is posted "Pleasure Craft Clearance". This is also the home of the Harbor Police.

Reviews for San Diego Harbor Customs Clearance
You must come here to check in., 2015-10-27
Captain: , Brookings, OR (647)

We stopped here to check in for the A9 cruisers anchorage. After tying up call the harbor police. It took about 30 minutes before they arrived. You fill out a form and show them your registration/documentation, insurance. They will inspect your boat for fire extinguishers and a compliant head.

There is water and garbage on the dock along with pump outs.

Very Easy and User Friendly, 2013-05-31
Captain: , Kemah, TX (234)

Docks are good, and instructions for clearing customs concise. Very friendly and expedient. Far less painful to take a boat down to Ensenda and clear back in here than it is at the border crossing by car. Well, almost.

Convenient dock for tieing for Customs clearance. Area of dock for Customs use is marked with yellow paint. Instructions for calling Customs and Border Patrol are located posted at the building located at the head of the dock ramp.
