Reviews for Sag Harbor Yacht Yard
Extremely hospitable, 2016-05-27
Captain: , Niantic, CT (337)

This past week (before Memorial Day), my friend and I sailed two 19-foot O'Day Mariners in horrible weather from Niantic, Connecticut to Sag Harbor. We had never been there before, and as we were looking for a place to tie up, we happened upon the floating docks of Sag Harbor Yacht Yard. We tied up and went to the owner to ask if we could pay for a few hours' stay so we could look around town. He looked out the window at the rain and fog and said, "You sailed here in that weather? In those boats?" He didn't charge us anything and was kind enough to point out local attractions and make suggestions on where to go. He was very hospitable, and I would definitely go there again.

Friendly staff, fun visit , 2015-08-19

Great place to stay. Near to everything. Super shops, great restaurants and even a playhouse, which we saw The Five Presidents!
Quiet and peaceful at night.

Great service, 2012-01-14

We were in Sag Harbor just before this past Labor Day weekend and had a battery event. The brothers took great care of us. They first had to find 5 8D batteries on very short notice and a day before the long weekend. No issue making a bunch of calls and actually got us a great price (I had just bought 4 8D's a month earlier so had a good reference point). Service guy was great on the install and making sure everything worked post install. We did not have to delay our plans or interrupt our stay. Great old fashion service.

Continued Engine Issues, 2011-08-25
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1145)

Our SB engine wouldn't start and the repair guys at Tolchester Marina in MD were awsome in fixing what was thought to be the problem but wasn't. Two days after a new fuel pump was installed the engine again wouldn't start. I called The SHYY by chance since I looked up diesel repair on Google. These guys are awsome. They ordered the parts ahead of time so they would be there when we arrived. Lou was great at getting us on the schedule - even with a hurricane coming - and Kevin believes he has found the real culprit. We will know more in a couple of days - but this place is great!

Good Yard they know thier stuff., 2011-02-03

I got an estimate to install 4 ports. 4500, ended up paying almost double that amont. Promised to complete the job in one week but it took 2. Louis is a very charming fellow so he can get away with it.
Quality workmanship.

This is home...., 2010-09-06

Keep my sailboat here both summer and winter... Cannot say enough good things about the attentiveness, proactiveness, and general caring by the entire team here... Louis Grignon the owner has created one of the best places on the east end to keep your boat... I have not lost a single day of sailing due to any mechanical or sail issue (doesn't mean I haven't had them, just that they were taken care of in an expedited manner) And, who is better than Robert at the Ship Store... I would not consider going anywhere else.

Good service and friendly owner, 2009-07-19

I had an surprisse electical problem. Owner Luie (Louis) got me in to tie up and pluyg in right away. Tech got there the next am and got me out by noon. Price was high but service was good. I would recommmend. Good yard, clean heads, store and town nearby.

Beautiful working yard and marina, 2009-06-15
Captain: , Sag Harbor (178)

You only find immaculate yards like this in New England these days. When a yard is well kept and orderly, "ship-shape" so to say that usually is followed by workmanship of equal caliber. Friendly and personable staff(like family). After all they are taking care of your baby. Just walk around this yard during a busy week and you can see the meticulous effort they put into the boats. This week was varnish week for a lot of boats and it was such a pleasure to see boats with cracked and yellowed varnish taking on that wet mirror like finish with no drips or fisheyes. Has a marine chandlery(cheaper then WM) on site as well as an amazing tackle shop. Can you tell I really love this place...when was the last time you said that about your marina?

The only reason to end up here is if you've been towed, 2008-04-28

The only game in town for sailboat repair so go to another town where you won't be ripped off by an unscrupulous marina owner who'll inflate bills, fail to perform work, or charge you for work that's never been done. Warning! Avoid this place.
