Pro-Op message

Welcome to Jacksonville. We invite you to explore what makes Sadler Point and our neighborhood so popular with cruisers. We are a Clean Marina and Clean Boatyard located within walking distance of several marine chandleries, restaurants, grocery stores, a used book store and much more. We can haul up to about sixty feet of boat with our custom built 2007 35BFM Marine TraveLift. We can perform most standard boatyard functions like carpentry, fiberglass, mechanical, refrigeration, and paint repairs but also know when to engage the many excellent local marine subcontractors for specialties like canvas and propeller work.

While we offer both uncovered and covered storage for those wishing to escape the heat of the Florida sun, we're also in close proximity to first class marinas like Ortega Landing. Ours is a working facility with a friendly atmosphere for getting things done so you can get back to relaxing on the water. Check out our website for more information or just give us a call.

The fact that our stretch of waterfront is blessed with several first class repair facilities makes Jacksonville a great stop for transient cruisers. Friendly competition keeps us on top of our game. Consider that as the smallest, we are your best choice for personal and appreciative service. Thanks for checking us out and above all, safe travels!

Reviews for Sadler Point Marine Center
Will accept used oil at no charge, 2016-05-01
Captain: , Grand Rivers, Ky (1522)

We were staying at Marina Landing at Ortega, I called Sadler Point and asked if they woulld accept used motor oil and was told no problem. Very friendly staff and busy boatyard.

Great staff and service, 2016-03-13
Captain: , Jacksonville, FL (40)

I brought my Island Packet 27 to paint bottom, change propeller and shaft and realign engine. All these they completed in time and flawless. I also had the boat there for some DYI, and the staff was really friendly, they lent me tools, advice and even machinery for free.

Sadler Point Saved Our Cruise!, 2015-12-22
Captain: , Everett, WA (939)

We can't use enough superlatives to describe Sadler Point, their workmanship, or their customer service. David took our desperate call from a nearby marina on a Thursday afternoon. We told him of our failed shaft seal that we discovered while prepping for a 2-week cruise, and our hopes to bring our boat to our new home on the Gulf of Mexico. David and his team literally did everything they could to get us going with as little loss of time as possible. By Friday at 10:30 am, we were hauled out and blocked. The old shaft seal was pulled by Friday afternoon, and by Saturday mid-morning (yes, they worked on our boat Saturday) all work was complete. They even went so far as to lauch us on Saturday to save our plans moving the boat, even though they typically don't splash boats on the weekend. When the invoice was presented it was very reasonable, especially considering that the yard went above and beyond the level of effort what one could reasonably expect. We are very grateful that fate put us in their hands. In return for their amazing service, they have gaining a life-long customer: If we are on the east coast of FL, there is no doubt where we are going for work on our boat. Thanks again, David and Sadler Point! (We made it to Tampa Bay with your help!)

Haulout at Sadler Point, 2015-10-12
Captain: , Crawfordville (35)

We recently (September 2015) hauled out boat at Sadler Point! Will definitely go back there. They are EXTREMELY nice/cooperative/priced right and do great work! I particularily like the attention the gave when re-launching her. They covered the straps with plastic which protected the hull and bottom paint. While she was hauled out they went the extra mile and stored our dinghy in the covered shed

Saved our Labor Day weekend, 2015-09-05
Captain: , Acworth, GA (225)

We keep our boat nearby at Ortega Landing and drove down from Atlanta (6 hour drive) only to discover that the air conditioning had stopped pumping sea water. We arrived at the boat at midnight on Thursday and decided to give Brooks at Sadler Point a call first thing Friday morning. All the techs were busy with other projects trying to finish up prior to the weekend when they were to be closed to give their employees the holiday weekend off. Brooks told us to bring the boat over and he would take a look at it himself after lunch. When we returned from lunch, he was already working on it and managed to clean our the blockage in the line. This area is notorious for clogging seawater strainers and lines. Brooks personally took care of us and saved our weekend. If the air conditioner did not work, we would have returned home wasting a precious weekend and needlessly investing 12 hours of driving for nothing! Bottom line is that this is a wonderful marina with owners and employees that really care about their customers. I have now experienced first hand why they have such an outstanding reputation not only with the locals, but the cruising community as well. If you need any work done while in Jacksonville, you really need to call Brooks and his team. You will be glad you did.

Good place to get things done, 2015-08-05
Captain: , Jacksonville (90)

Sadler Point allows DIY, outside contractors and has a very knowledgeable and friendly staff. They will stay out of your way and let you work, give advice and recommendations, or take care of any part or the whole job for you as you desire.

You could not ask for a more convenient location. It is within walking distance of restaurants, a grocery store, chandlers, marinas and a bookstore.

Great haul out yard., 2015-04-14
Captain: , Fanning Island, FL (10)

We hauled out our 40' Nordhavn, on the hard for 3 weeks for underwater work and other. There is the perfect blend of DIY support and a professional staff for mechanical and hull work. No problem with bringing in outside contractors for work. A clean yard with emphasis on "green" work ethic.
Above all Brooks and his team - Chip, David, Joe, Eric, Cindy, Miss "D" and the rest are professional and work truly as a team. Hope it continues!! We were very satisfied with how thier team approached and overcame a difficult job replacing a cutlass bearing that had previoulsy been set in with 5200. They have a fair amount of supplies behind the counter and the Yeti 30oz tumbler they are selling was 20% less than down the street.

Great people, Great marina, 2014-10-25
Captain: , Boulder (50)

As part of a major refit, in Oct 2014, I had my trawler hauled, the bottom done, the transom painted and a new name attached, the boot stripe and pin stripe repainted, the keel repaired, and the props sanded and coated, new zincs and at the same time, my mechanic and project manager was allowed to work inside the boat and redo many of my mechanical systems. At the same time, I was able to redo the swim platform while the transom was being painted. This made for a very efficient work window that ultimately saved me time and money.

Several people deserve special thanks. Tom, the manager, was always knowledgable, friendly and honest about what would work and what would be a waste of time or money. Kenny did a great job on the transom and gave me a lot of good advice while I was refinishinng the swim platform. Joe, the brave soul, who dispossessed the barnacle families on the bottom of my boat, got my props to a place where I could get out my sander and smooth them to a fine edge, probable worked the hardest. A well earned thank you goes out to you all including Chip, Cindy and Betty.

Great service, 2014-07-01
Captain: , Charleston, SC (20)

I needed a quick water pump in transition through the Jax area. Sadler tech was quick and helpful. Price was very reasonable. Would reccomend to anyone.

Awesome Yard, 2014-05-27
Captain: , Orange Park, FL (171)

We just repainted the bottom here. Everyone is as friendly, helpful, courteous and knowledgeable as you could ask for. An A-1 yard.

Honest, reliable work!, 2014-05-21
Captain: , Portsmouth, RI (44)

As Snowbirders, Sadler Point has been our annual maintenance and repair marina since 2006. Their prices are reasonable and their work is reliable; none of this turning around to go back stuff! Service manager Tom Owen is one of the most knowledgeable and hardworking people I have met in the marine business, and owner Brooks Busey supports his staff and customers 100%. You cannot go wrong here.

Update on 4/8/2014
We returned for the yearly checkup on our genset and we're very satisfied with the service, excellent staff, excellent marina.

We needed a new genset to replace our Panda 4.2 kw that lost its second governor (no more money down that hole!)

I was in Ft Lauderdale at the time and called Sadler Point on the basis of the excellent reviews. We discussed options but I was determined not to get another genset with the same engine as in the Panda. That narrowed the choice to a 6kw unit. I carefully measured the size of the locker and we jointly determined that it would fit. I sent the payment for the Kohler genset in advance so it would be on-site when I arrived in two weeks.

Upon arrival, everything was ready and the genset was installed as planned but the control board was defective. A new one was ordered and replaced at no additional cost and it now works fine.

At all times, I was kept appraised of the progress and work to be done that day. Everyone was courteous and helpful, very much appreciated. I am very satisfied with their work and would come back again.

Excellent Work-Fair Price-Nice People, 2014-03-20
Captain: , Amelia Island, FL (115)

I just had the bottom painted, hull waxed, and jellcoat repaired on my 38 ft. sailing sloop. The work was excellent, the price was fair, and the people were very professional and easy to work with. This is my bottom job at Sadler Point Marina and I will never go anywhere else in North Florida.

The "go to" yard in Jacksonville., 2012-12-14
Captain: , Chicago (270)

As far as we are concerned, Sadler Point Marine Center is the go to place for any boat repairs and maintenance in Jacksonville, FL. They are fair, quick and extremely competent. The employees go out of their way to be helpful. At the end of October, we had the bottom of the boat repainted and an issue with the Yanmar diagnosed and repaired. I was very pleased with the quality of the work and the price of the services.

Great Yard With Outstanding Staff, 2012-12-03
Captain: , annapolis (10)

We were storing our boat here for the summer as we traveled north. The crew at the yard took great care of the boat in our 3 month absence.

Upon my return I worked with the yard to complete several projects. At one point I required an emergency haul out due to my error. The yard droped everything and got me out and blocked. They worked quickly to correct my problem and get me back in the water.

I highly recommend this yard for both their level of skill and work ethic. Kenny and Joe went above and beyond to help me get my boat repaired and back to cruising. Tom, Brooks, Cindy and Betty made working with the yard easy and pleasant.

Great working yard., 2012-05-26
Captain: , baltimore md (634)

We had Amalia our 22 ton steel trawler pulled on April 30, 2012. We Started off knowing we wanted a "bottom job" but found we needed a new cutlass bearing. This was tough job but they quickly devised a plan and got the new one in. I added several additional jobs like adjusting the packing for the rudder and painting the hull. None of the add ons or difficult jobs seemed to bother them. Brooks, Tom and Cindy in the office made it all come together. The yard crew is top flight with Chip leading the pack with 48 years experience. What a delight to work with these professionals. The billing was very fair and they put us back in the water on our return date May 21, 2012.

Service review, 2012-05-13
Captain: , Portsmouth, RI (260)

We had our boat bottom cleaned, sanded and painted. Also had the hull waxed. Although we were well pleased with the work, they neglected to keep the boiat plugged in after this was specified. Lost all the frozen meat in the freezer. This was brought to their attention and nothing was done about it.

Great job and on time, 2012-04-17
Captain: , Kenlake Marina (52)

We had our swim platform rebuilt and reinforced for ouur new St Croix davits. They did a great job and went out of their way to make sure things were done right. At the same time Pats Canvas next door did some great canvas work for us.. If you need things fixed right and reasonable this is a great stop.\

Wind Song

When was the last time your marina came in under budget?, 2012-04-13
Captain: , St. Ignace, Michigan (236)

Tom and Brooks are wonderful to work with, and the staff too! Even more amazing, while their estimate to replace 4 seacocks was below nearby competition, they came in under their estimate!
Oh, and they put up with my requests to do the work just like Steve D'Antonio's articles prescribed. Highly recommended.

Great for work and rest, 2012-04-13
Captain: , Southold NY (10)

Stayed for 2 months this winter to rest and catch up with maintenance. The stay was great, including the railroad. Immediate proximity to Publix, West Marine, Starbucks, CVS, Panera, and many more. Good biking in all directions, incl the Jax River Walk.
The yard has a convenient, maintenance focus inventory of supplies competitively priced, was a great source of advice, and help for my DIY projects. Personnel are skilled, responsive and courteous. The workmanship I observed on other vessels was top quality, and done efficiently and smoothly. I would not hesitante to have my vessel hauled out here in the future.

Fantastic experience..., 2012-03-20
Captain: , Castine, ME (58529)

We met with Brooks and Tom to go over a page of projects that we wanted done for our boat. They included full bottom painting, renewing the bootstripe, removal of 2 unused fuel tanks, replacing AC/heat pump and hoses, and assorted other small items. And by the way, since we have 2 dogs and needed to stay at a hotel while out of the water, it all had to be done by Friday at 1 pm because my wife wasn't staying in that hotel over the weekend.

I know we're often treated specially today (thank you ActiveCaptain) but I witnessed other jobs in the yard too. This yard does quality work, is well organized, and honestly cares about what they do. It's rare to find one quality like that today let alone all three.

I can honestly say that after 9 years, the bottom painting project was the best renewing we've ever had done. When I went to remove the intakes to sand and paint them myself, I found them already removed, blasted, and being repainted already. These guys were always 1 step ahead and did a fantastic job.

For what it's worth, we received no discount - we paid full price - although they knew we'd probably write a review about the experience.

And on Friday at 12:30? We were in the slings being lowered into the water.

I would not hesitate to come back here and look forward to being in those slings again.

gen set installation, 2012-02-23
Captain: , key west,fl (10)

this marina offers both full service and do it yourself work. we had a ENTEC WEST gen set installed on our 36' monk trawler. the marina did excellent work at a reasonable and honest price, and let us work alongside them. Their quality of work on other boats in the yard was to the same standard. This is the way yards were in the 1980's.
and no need for a car, services for you and ypur boat are within walking distance.

Good workmanship, 2012-02-01
Captain: , Jacksonville (290)

Good Prompt Service. Professional, knowledgable and Friendly

Sadler is the Best, 2012-01-10
Captain: , Geneva, Illinois (90)

A great place to have some work done. Incredibly friendly and fair - they did a great job installing a Y valve and pump out arrangement for us to use off shore. Highly recommended!

Great Place!, 2011-07-27
Captain: , Kemah, TX (612)

After being struck by another boat on the stern, we had to have the boat pulled and fiberglass work completed at the stern chain plate. We stayed the night in a transient slip. I have to admit, the dock is a bit dated, and can be daunting to get around the pilings on the finger pier. 50 amp power. 43 ton lift. Chip is an excellent lift operator and deftly put us on the hard. The repair was immediately completed and was blended in so well we could not see it. While the repair was being completed, we also contracted with MarTech for an acid wash, buff and wax for the freeboard, waterline to toerail, and to have the bottom scrubbed to reactivate the bottom paint. The repair was covered by insurance, but the fee was very reasonable. MarTech charged us $10 per foot for the acid wash/buff/wax and $40 per hour for the scrub job. All in all, it was competed expeditiously, at a reasonable charge, with friendly and capable workers. Pump out was included at no charge. This is a working yard that is very active

Excellent Quality, Service & Price, 2011-05-07
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (326)

We just had bottom paint, topsides polished, cap rail repaired and a few other bits of work done, and Brooks, Joe, Chip, Ken and all the crew were absolutely top notch!
The marina is located within walking distance of West Marine, Publix, Panera Bread, and most importantly, JAG Dogs! John and his hot dog cart is a super lunch treat across from B of A.
Pat's canvass is another excellent shop for everything from repairs to new canvass.
We will deal with the trip up the River to J'ville with a reward like this place waiting for us!

Great prices and staff, 2009-12-30
Captain: , Fort Myers (749)

I wasn't expecting too much when I first saw the place, but I must say that I am now very impressed. The staff is very professional and courteous. A working boat yard, I wouldn't necessarily stay here for the scenery, but I am glad we brought our boat here for the work we needed done. Bottom job is $27/foot out the door. There is a West Marine within walking distance as well as a Publix and several decent restaurants.

Approach to the Ortega Bridge is a little thin with some depths in the 6 to 7 foot range. Once past the bridge, depths are 9-10 feet.

A repair facility with covered docks, 2009-12-23
Captain: , Buffalo (1144)

This is mainly a repair facility with two travelifts. But there is also docks for both transients and long term. One of the docks is covered. Staff are friendly and very helpful. I would give it a three if you are staying on your boat, because of grungy washrooms and showers, and because of the nearby RR tracks, and a four for a place to leave your boat while you are away.
