Reviews for The Marina at Edison Ford
Keep this place a secret, 2017-08-17
Captain: , Naples Florida (246)

I don't really want to recommend this marina because the word is getting out about how nice it is and I want dock space when I return.
Selfish I know but there you are.
You can keep the other Fort Myers marinas this is the place to be.
Carly the dockmaster will take good care of you and the Pinchers restaurant has the best food of all the Pinchers locations and I've been to many.
Easy in on a well; marked channel, mainly fixed docks with a couple of layalongs.
Free entry to Edison Ford Winter Estates right next door and easy into town.

A Great Place to Dock Oceanus, 2017-06-19
Captain: , Woodstock, Georgia (409)

We spent several months at Marina at Edison Ford. Carly and her staff took very good care of us and looked after our boat when we travelled to and from Maimi for a medical issue. We also observed how well they took care of the boat docked next to us when the owners were away. They went above and beyond to deal with issues and resolve problems. The marina is close to a Publix grocery and within walking distance of downtown and a number of excellent restaurants and coffee shops. Pinchers is located at the marina and has excellent food and excellent service. The museum next door is great and worth taking the time to see. We rented cars several times from Hertz and they provided transporation to and from the marina. We are looking forward to going back to Marina at Edison Ford.

We keep coming back!, 2017-04-26

Great place! Small, friendly, quiet. Nice docks. Laundry, restaurant on site, nearby groceries. And I can't say enough wonderful about the helpful staff!!! This is our second stay here, and I just made a reservation for our next visit. We've used this as a home base while we cruise and explore the gulf side of Florida.

great Marina, 2017-03-28
Captain: , Kemah (20)

This Marina has been a great stop for us. Everyone here has been extremely accommodating. Can't say enough good about Carly, Elijah and Brandon.

Great Little Marina Close to Downtown, 2017-03-12
Captain: , Verona WI (282)

Stayed here for a month and couldnt be happier with our choice. Carly the dockmaster is so helpful and gives you a complete tour when you arrive. Dock hands Brandon and Elijah are always very helpful and go out of their way to asist in any way possible. They deliver mail and packages directly to your boat. Showers are very nice and clean. Laundry facility the first 2 weeks was not the best but they replaced both washer and dryer with coin operated versions while we were here and they work great $1.75 for wash and same for dry. We were lucky to get slip #10 and had a wonderful sunset view from our boat. We met a number of other loopers and some locals. There is no boaters lounge and while we were there no dock parties although there is a place at the end of the other dock where one could take place. They have bike racks and the area is gated however there is a lot of foot traffic on the docks because of PINCHERS restaurant upstairs. Guest wating for tables tend to stroll the docks. Pump outs are a little pricey at $20 but that goes to whoever does the pumpouts that day so there is no further tipping needed. The only small downside is the rollers that come in from the river especially on the weekends when boat traffic is heavy. Its a short walk or bikeride to downtown Publix is 2 blocksa away and there is a free trolley service that takes you around the area. We will definitely return when we come back through this way again.

Nice Marina, 2017-03-01
Captain: , Nashville, TN (223)

Stayed for 3 days, could have stayed longer. Carly (the dockmaster) was fantastic. Checked on us every day and very helpful with local info. Location is great and this marina is quieter than the larger ones in Ft. Myers.

super clean, 2017-02-26
Captain: , Bay Shore, NY (550)

moved here after 1 night in the city marina; what an improvement! First class all the way; spotless showers and restrooms; a couple blocks from Publix and 15 minute walk or so downtown. Same price @ $2/foot. Pinchers restaurant on site top notch. Note: the phone # on Active Captain incorrect. Dockmaster's # is: 239)895-7703

Great Marina , 2017-02-03

Stayed here for a month and enjoyed it immensely. Dockmaster, Carly and assistants, Elijah and Brandon were extremely helpful. Easy walk to Publix and downtown restaurants. Washer has hot water now. Free trolley. Very dog friendly. Bathrooms are clean. Would stay again.

The Marina at Edison Ford - So many GREAT reasons to stay, 2017-01-31
Captain: , Marina at Edison Ford (10)

Being adjacent to the unprecedented history and rich tradition of the Winter Esates of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford are only the beginning of why I selected to stay at The Marina at Edison Ford.

The panoramic sunset views from each slip gives any boater the chance to enjoy olde Florida river life at its best. You don't have to be a multi millionaire, even though you feel like one, to enjoy the priceless waterfront.

Starting with the DockMaster, Carley Jones, I could count on every day with a smile and warm southern greeting as she checked on each and every slip to make sure all guests and part time residents were happy. There has never been a moment when Carley hasn't been available or ready to jump in with a suggestion or simply make sure all my boating needs were being met. I know from experience, it takes a GREAT DockMaster to have a GREAT Marina, Carley is just that!

In addition to the marina location and services, having Iconic Pinchers just a few yards away is an added bonus. Whether inviting friends and family over for a day on the river or having a few people on the dock to watch the impressive sunsets, I've used Pinchers both for catering or to impress guests and clients with their one-of-a-kind 180 degree views. Don't forget to introduce yourself to Jake, the greatest bartender in Ft. Myers as well as the whole Pinchers team who goes out of their way to make locals, day trippers and snow birds feel at home.

Finally, if anyone needed one more reason to stay at The Marina at Edison Ford, it is the rare opportunity to walk through the century olde gardens on the Winter Estates of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. My favorite parts were strolling along the marked horticultural paths observing rare blooms of orchids and many other indigenous flora as well as with the unforgettable moment of seeing Edisons' labroatory for the first time.

All in all, Little Toot and his captain, give The Marina at Edison Ford Five Horns "Toots" Up as the perfect boutique loation for a marina selection.

Excellent Great Loop winter layover, 2017-01-30
Captain: , Holland, MI (10)

After reaching the Ft. Myers area in mid November on the southern swing of the Great Loop, I was fortunate to find available dockage at the Marina at Edison Ford. I was greeted at the slip by dockmaster Carley who happily helped me get things squared away and hooked up at the slip, as I was singlehanding and needed all the help I could get. The marina is well maintained with exceptionally clean bathroom/shower/laundry facilities. There is the added benefit of a Pincher's restaurant on-site that provides a great place to get quality seafood and a cold adult beverage with a great sunset view of the river. It's within easy walking range of downtown Ft. Myers, and there is a free trolley if you're not up for the walk. The smaller size of the marina makes it a hidden gem and keeps it quiet in the evenings. I can't saying enough about the entire staff of both the marina and the restaurant, as they were all first class all the way and went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. I enjoyed my multiple month winter stay, and I will certainly return on my next trip looping through.

Enjoyable Stay - (but infuriating restaurant experience), 2017-01-02
Captain: , Edgewood, RI (140)

We were in Pinchers, the restaurant, on three nights of the the four night visit. Food was great but on the third night, we were met with poor service that was followed by argument and a defensive attitude from the waitress (who was "training" an new employee). One of our party had her entree leftovers boxed before the rest of us were finally served appetizers and entrees. As our guests included a past commodore and governors of our yacht club, we were sorry we had chosen the retaurant over cooking on board.

Plusses: Protection; sunsets; weekly rate equals four nights at the nightly rate; pumpout equipment and service (Elijah the dockhand); Carley the dockmaster; showers & heads; restaurant & bar; good response to a dockside electrical problem; Edison and Ford Winter Estates; proximity to town & Publix; free trolley.
Minusses: Wi-fi and very slow washing machine - cold water only - just one washer and one dryer (but FREE - another PLUS).

Okay for what it is, 2016-12-14

Arrived on Friday at 6 PM, intending to stay until Monday. No one in charge of Marina when we arrived. Wife almost took a spill when she stepped on one of numerous loose planks. Went to front desk to register. Girl there sent me upstairs to see Manager in restaurant, who couldn't be bothered because he was busy and had a restaurant to run. Hooked up to power and filled water tanks. No Pump Out Available. Neighboring boat helped me hook up, gave me WiFi Code and Gate Codes. WiFi was useless. Showers were nice, laundry has only cold water. Restaurant seems okay, but no meat, and since my wife has allergies...walked down the street to a different Shack that had steaks.Almost got clobbered Saturday Morning by a nutcase in a little blue boat, who hollored at me for "being there." Supermarket close by. No bicycle rental or car service. Left early monday for fuel, never was approached for for a "Free Marina" I can't complain. Certainly would not pay for the facilities, which are run down.

Great quiet stay, 2016-11-30

Very low key marina with a quiet atmosphere. Dockmaster was very helpful. Wifi was practically useless, otherwise it would be a 5 star rating. Short walk to Publix and downtown. Great stay for two weeks!

Pleasant surprise, 2016-11-24
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (1283)

We stayed here 1 week in mid November at a weekly rate of $8/ft including electric - great value for the price. We moved here after a week at the city marina because they were preparing for a boat show and needed our slip. This is a small facility and somewhat exposed to boat wakes on the river. Staff is great, very helpful! Rest rooms / showers are new and very nice - 2 huge private rooms, so there can be a wait when the marina is busy. Single washer/dryer was expensive ($5 for 1 wash/dry load). Pump out is portable; we didn't use it but saw others so it appears to work. Edison Ford Winter Estates next door is not to be missed! Pinchers restaurant has a nice setting upstairs overlooking the marina and river. Food was above average and restaurant patrons were free to walk the docks. Publix is an easy walk; downtown is a long hike. Although not much grass on the marina property, we found plenty of places nearby to walk the dog.

Planed 2days, spent 2 months, 2016-11-17
Captain: , Nicholasville, Ky (40)

Had previously kept our cruising boats on the west coast of Fl , but now in the Bahamas. Just put 5300 miles under the Black Swans hull and wanted to catch up with old friends and do some routine maintenance, translated ,teak and compounding, before heading back to the Bahamas. Planed to stay a couple of days to find a place to stage, but this was such a jewel we stayed two months.

Carley Jones, the dockmaster, made us very welcome, shopping at Publics is walking distance. Downtown has lots of restaurants and activities, and Pinchers restaurant which is at the marina has exception food. (Try their coconut shrimp appetizer.). Callouts to Clay, one of the restaurants managers, chefs, Abel, our favorite server, and of course Elijah, our favorite dockhand.

Top rated sea food restaurant , 2016-03-30
Captain: , YORKTOWN, VA (383)

The last time I was here this was a classy yacht club. But they couldn't afford to pay for the gorgeous building and went under. The new owners opened a very popular search food restaurant and the Marina fine. Not many boats but the dock master is first class. Publix shopping center is very close and right next door to a great museum. Legacy is half mile up river and in the center of town but more expensive. I have stayed at both and like this better because of the close shop center and great museum. This would be a 5 except for poor wifi.

A fine place to dock, 2016-02-10
Captain: , Pennells Marine, Inc., Deerfield Beach, Fl (30)

We stayed one night and spent the day enjoying the Edison and Ford Estates with all it had to offer. Dinner at Pinchers was very good, with a wonderful dill salmon special and crab grouper roll, plus caesar salads. Dockmaster took great care of us and boat was well protected from choppy waters and high winds.

Dockmaster is Great, 2016-02-06
Captain: , Holland, MI (32)

Carly meets you as you approach your slip, helps tie up boat and goes out of her way to provide information on area. Good electric. No laundry, but soon to be added. No pumpout that I could find. Boat rocked slightly when winds is from north because waves work their way through breakwall.

no longer FCYC, 2015-12-21
Captain: , Gulf Harbour, Fl (282)

Marina at Edison Ford bought the old Royal Palm Yacht Club building and marina. Pincher's seafood restaurant uses building. Docks are available for overnight and day use. Carly is the current Dockmaster as of Dec 2015.

we are currently docked at Legacy Harbor. However Pinchers restaurant at the marina at Edison Ford is now open and the marina as well. They hired a new dock master and the facilities appear clean and well organized. The restaurant said they accept dock and dine customers.
