Reviews for Royal Palm Marina
good for a night, 2016-03-22

Old docks and shallow approach at low tide. $1.75 Boat US. Friendly staff. Restaurant good.

A great place to stay and travel around, 2016-02-26
Captain: , Moyock, NC (984)

Nice friendly accommodating clean maintained marina. The restuarant has a good variety of food and frequent live music. Facilities are integrated with the restaurant, but we didn't find any problem with this. A night key is available to boaters renting slips. They have a good monthly rate. There's nearby laundry, shops, and restaurants. The local nice clean public SCAT transportation 2-blocks away travels around Englewood, up to Venice, with connecting buses to Sarasota (and island i.e., Longboat Key, etc.), and onto Tampa Bay. The No. 16 bus easily gets you a variety of banks and businesses, Publix, UPS Store, and local Walmart.

Not fancy, but very pleasant, 2015-03-18
Captain: , Portsmouth, NH (10)

Convenient location about half-way between Sanibel and Sarasota, we stopped here twice this winter. Plenty of space (for our wide powercat) along their face docks. "Snooks Bayside Grill" on premesis has inside/outside seating and very good food & drink. Entertainment most evenings, but they stop by 9 PM.

Marina staff is friendly & welcoming. We paid $1.75/ft incl elect, water & WiFi - seemed like a good deal to us. Can't comment on facilities as we have everything we needed on board.

Downtown is a 15-min walk with shops & restaurants, if desired.

Makes you feel a lot better about your boat, 2014-12-11
Captain: , Atlanta (770)

You know the feeling you get when you haven't washed your boat in a few days/weeks/months, that maybe you're not looking as spiffy as the neighbors? Well, come to Royal Palm for a night or two and and you'll start feeling pretty good. There were many once nice older boats here in need of serious TLC and no other transients, so docks had creepy/ghostly feel at night.

We stayed here the night of 12/9/14 as a cold North front was coming thru with 20 mph winds. Staff was friendly and helpful, but amenities were minimal (power, water, restaurant on site [we did not go there]), but no shower and restrooms were in restaurant. Price was $2.00/ft ($1.75 with Boat US). Took a nice walk (maybe a mile?) into old Englewood, which was nice (we arrived after 5:00 pm so a lot of stores were closed).

Our type of place - no need for fancy, just safe and secure, 2014-08-03
Captain: , High Springs, FL (686)

Capt. Mike was more than helpful and even let us borrow his car to run down to the store to get a new generator battery. The little tiki bar has the best price on a hamburger that you are going to find. The drinks were cold and the showers were clean. The showers are in fact part of the bar area but no matter to us.

Nothing Fancy, 2014-03-24
Captain: , Little River, SC (1967)

The staff was very friendly and helpful in getting us docked. There is no on site laundry and the restrooms/showers are part of the restaurant/bar facilities. Not very private nor conveneient. They had a band on both nights that we were there but the band quit about 9:30 and it was pretty quiet after that. Definitely a no frills kind of place.

Good Experience, 2014-03-13
Captain: , Gasparilla Marina (30)

Very friendly and helpful staff. They have a car show downtown Englewood (walking distance) once a month on Saturdays. Several small shops are also located downtown. We had a nice meal along with wine at Zeke's which can be a busy little place. Reasonable prices, nothing fancy.

Not my first choice, 2014-02-15
Captain: , Muscatine, Iowa (50)

We only stayed here as long as we did because relatives had rented a house nearby. Very unprotected from winds S to NNW. Price probably reflects the condition of the marina. Power and water were fine, food at Zekes is good, downtown Englewood is only a few blocks with nice shopping and restaurant choices. Publix would be a bit of a haul without a car, we had one of our own, so don't know about a courtesy car from the marina? Didnt use the laundy or showers. The fairly rundown look seems to attract more of the same type of boat. Several long term boats here look like they never get a visit from anyone. I might stay for an overnight if I new the winds were favorable.

Nice Marina, 2013-11-13
Captain: , Palmetto (412)

A nice marina for an overnight stay. The docks are somewhat run down and there doesn%u2019t appear to be much around and there is no cable TV; however, the dockmaster is very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is good (Zekes). The channel isn%u2019t as well marked as charts would indicate, the white markers are really green and the highway cones (orange) substitute for red, we had plenty of water going in once we learned the system.

Old Florida charm and great food, 2013-07-19
Captain: , MA and Southwest FL (538)

Didn't stay at marina, but it appears very basic. Great area to hang out and explore both Lemon bay and Englewood.

Zeke's surprised me. Walked in to an old Florida bar, a bit aged, not expecting too much. Food presentation and quality blew me away. We'll be back again and again if they keep that up.

NICE PLACE TO FIND, 2013-04-13

Nice authentic marina, 2011-05-15
Captain: , New Orleans, LA (40)

Unplanned one night stay because of ugly weather , 14 May 2011. Simple but adequate services with laid back ambience. Helpful dock staff. Lovely public nature park with two miles of trails nearby to walk/jog/bike. Tiki Bar restaurant on site was pleasantly busy on a Saturday night; food very casual but good. Free bottle of generic California Merlot when we checked in!

We spent a month there, 2011-02-13
Captain: , Mobile Al (140)

We came in with mechanical problems and right away we knew we were in the right place. Dr Mike the dock master was at our beck and call and with him and the live aboards helping we had things back to normal in no time. We had so much fun here we had a hard time leaving. Caution... This place can be adictive. The only bad things are it's shallow in the channel so call the dock master and he will help guide you in, and it gets bumpy with the wind out of the North West. We love it here and will be back

Very friendly, 2011-01-05
Captain: , Jamestown VA (26)
