Reviews for Ross Marine, LLC
Excellent place for repairs, but watch subs, 2017-05-01
Captain: , Lewis Creek, Md (1304)

We set up to visit when we were having continuing problems with our alternator, refrigerator, and needed engine service. The works was all done well though I found the mechanical department difficult to take suggestions. They had problems with the oil change into the pan. They got it done, but it was painful to watch. The frig people unfortunately took what I thought was a fact as a fact and removed the wrong plate although they did a professional job of replacing the plate that was working. As compensation, they ordered me a new plate for the broken side which I had installed someplace else. It was the wrong plate as far as fittings. Oh well!

Scheduled maintenance , 2016-08-12
Captain: , Woodbridge, VA (60)

Stopped at Ross for scheduled maintenance on new boat. Also had carpentry on interior for cosmetic mods. Paul worked with us to understand the work, coordinated with factory for specs, etc and kept us informed along the way. We returned today to find all work complete, boat spotless and ready to go for second half of our trip. BTW, entire staff a pleasure to work with.

We called at 7:30AM to have our overheated generator looked at. Ross could not look at it that day but had a trusted company call us and allowed us to use their dock to have the work done. A simple charge of $55, which ended up including docking for the night with electric.
The other company was the best surprise of the event. "SeaTec Marine" was on our boat at noon and we were all set in a few hours. At the same time we noticed a leak in our accumulator. Sarkis, the owner, arranged for one of his techs to deliver a install the new accumulator...we were ready to move at 3:30, but stayed the night to time the current in Elloitt Cut.
We can't recommend SeaTec strongly enough. The owner is a teacher at ABYC and very knowledgeable in all aspects of boating, plus, a professional who you can trust with your boat and fair prices.
We strongly recommend Ross and SeaTec.

Outstanding Service, 2016-04-14
Captain: , Occoquan, VA (456)

While our problem wasn't particularly difficult, we were impressed by everyone's professionalism and even more impressed with how fast someone was on board. We called from a nearby marina around mid-morning and told to come by. Things went smoothly from there. Communication was frequent. Cost was not low but in line with expectations. We would trust this yard with any problem and consider this our go-to place if we can get there.

Excellent Yard, 2016-03-12
Captain: , Hampton, Virginia (289)

It's not always easy to find a yard that does good work, does what they say they will do when they say they will do it, and has great customer service. We liveaboard and had a need for a quick turnaround on a shaft seal replacement that required pulling the shaft. Everything went as smoothly as could be expected, and was done at less then the price that was quoted. The only thing to be aware of is the current runs swiftly through this area except at slack tides. Make sure you plan your arrival and departure accordingly. They will help you plan this. The staff at Ross Marine is better than most. I highly recommend this yard and would not hesitate to have work done by them in the future.

I expereinced a raw water pump leak on our boat. Went into a nearby marina, and called Ross Marine and spoke to Paul. He ordered me two new pumps, and had delivered to me the next day at the marina I was at. Swapped out leaking pump for a new pump that also leaked. Paul immediatley expereinced a raw water pump leak on our boat. Went into a nearby marina, called Ross Marine and spoke to Paul. He ordered me two new pumps, and had delivered to me the next day at the marina I was at. Swapped out leaking pump for a new pump that also leaked. Paul immediatley assigned one his employees, Steve Hitch, to attend our boat at 08:00 hrs the next mornong, which Steve did. The second raw water pump was swapped out for another with complications. Steve finally resolved the leaking raw water pump issue which aload us to become operational again.
Over all the service received was great. Will recommend Ross Marine to any and all boaters.

Good place to get fixed., 2015-03-06
Captain: , Hampton, VA (271)

Had my hull painted here, verty good work, not cheap but very good. They have a paint shed that can (almost) fit a sail boat, over 40' high. I was stuck on the hard for 3 extra days because of a broken lift, they did some extra work at no charge to compensate.

Great Boat Yard, 2014-10-30
Captain: , Oriental, N.C. (111)

We stopped here for some repairs on our way south. They are not cheap, but they are fast, dedicated and efficient. They pulled our boat and replaced a thru hull valve in just over and hour. That was after they pulled the boat and blocked it of course. They pulled us in the morning and had us back in the water by 2:00 P.M. All staff were courteous and friendly, even though they were rushed with an overload of work.

Good boatyard, 2014-03-10
Captain: , Treasure Island, FL (221)

After spending some time aground at Shallotte Inlet, we stopped in to have things checked out since we heard somewhat unusual sounds. Had the boat hauled and fortunately all that needed to be done was cutlass bearings which meant dismantling prop, shaft, etc. Had the stuffing box repacked whle everything was apart. All in all our guy, Murray, did a great job, kept us updated on the situation and came out for a short sea trial when work was completed. Office personnel, yard mgr, etc. were all very helpful and accommodating.

Great Job Marina on North Charleston, 2014-01-24
Captain: , Colonial Beach, VA (110)

A penny wise and pound foolish, made a mistake in doing engine maintenance that forced me to drop the oil pan in one of my diesel engines. Could not be done in the water so we contacted closest facility Ross Marine. It was a great find. They quickly got me out of the water using their 75K lift. Although I had to leave on business travel, Tom Kruse continuously updated me and coordinated repairs with me. As they proved to be so competent, I had them do some deferred maintenance and repairs. Had a ABYC certifiec Master Technitian who was absolutely great, Pauly. Worked with the great mechanic I hired, Aan Vickers owner of Oil in a Days Work.

Ross Marine is reasonable in cost - not cheap but I got my money's worth. Would not hesitate to take my boat back.

Repaired and Back in the Water, 2013-11-17
Captain: , Keyesport, IL (70)

I would go out of my way to have Ross Marine work on my Hallberg-Rassy Monsun. They hauled Ellida on Tuesday (after making sure a haul was needed) fixed the issue on Wednesday and splashed her on Thursday. All along they were friendly, professional and genteel. I cannot recommend them highly enough ~ you won't be sorry if you trust your boat to their care.

This is a Ship yard, not a marina., 2012-10-18
Captain: , Shinnecock Bay, NY (610)

I had my boat painted hull (not the bottom) here. They did a very good job, the paint is beautiful. The crew was great wrok was professional. Great care was taken with everything. Small problem with the travel lift, it was down for two days, not their fault but they supplied a taxi to get me to and from the yard since I didn't have a car. Thanks to Paul and all the staff at Ross for a very fast turn around (9 days).

Repair Facility ONLY, 2011-10-24

Reliable boatyard, 2011-08-04
Captain: , Montreal, PQ, Canada (560)

They did everything on my list (almost) perfectly. Which is a lot to say about any boatyard! Rates were competitive, service was courteous. I would use these guys again and again, no worries.

Claim they do not do transient docking, 2011-05-29
Captain: , Key Biscayne FL (3171)

It looks to be a nice spot but the boats here are all getting work done. I did 5 stars to not hurt their excellent record for repairs

Excellent place for minor repairs., 2011-05-15
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (227)

Jenny had an encounter with an anchor on the end of a long boomsprit and needed gell coat repairs, and a broken window fixed. We also needed a cabinet panel created. Ross did a professional job on all the work we gave them, and the price was about half what I expected. Awesome.

They can fix almost anything, 2010-10-15
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

This is the place, and it is also a decent transient stop.

Ross Marine, 2010-07-16
Captain: , Port Canaveral, Fl. (241)

Our single engine DeFever had to be towed into Ross after we wrapped a steel cable around the prop and shaft. It was such a bad wrap that it pulled the shaft 3/4 of the way out of the coupling.

This happened on a Sunday afternoon and the yard was closed.

We were met at the dock by the weekend guard who gave us some paperwork to fill out and told us that someone would come and see us Monday morning.

Bright and early the yard foreman came to the boat, looked things over, and said we'll haul you at slack water around 3:30 this afternoon, but that may mean we will not get the job done in one day.

They finished the job the next morning and again we had to wait for slack water to launch.

The job was done to very high standards, they even drilled the dimple in the shaft a little deeper. They installed all new bolts in the coupling and checked the alignment.

We were charged a very reasonable amount for the work. Every effort was made to accomadate us, and to get us on our way quickly.

They did not charge us for the two nights we spent at their dock.

The owner of the yard came down to the boat to check with us before we left and to see if everything had gone well.

I'd go back there in a second if I needed work done on the boat.

Good price on fue., 2009-06-03
Captain: , clear lake texas (435)

Good price on fuel discount on sale of more then 300 gal. Fuel dock is at bulk head by travel lift. 10+ feet at dock. Strong current call ahead so someone will be at dock. This is a boat yard.

Good repair facility., 2008-03-29
Captain: , Charleston, SC (125)

I would agree with the first reveiwer as a review of this as a marina to transit at. They are not really a marina, but a boatyard that offers transient slips. However, as a boatyard it is great. The people are nice and listen well. I have had my boat there twice and was very satisfied both times. Not cheap, but good value.

Good overnight stop, 2007-05-01
Captain: , WC CO (177)

Call ahead and don't expect more than dockage with power and water. Also, a place to walk dogs. Good price on fuel. Tricky with west wind.
