Reviews for Rosie's Place
Everything you need for fishing and diving, 2017-07-11
Captain: , Pompano Beach, FL (190)

Rosies Place has everything that you need for a great fishing and diving experience. Place is a little rough, but that is part of the charm. The fishing and diving in the area is fabulous like it should be. You can get everything that you need right there. Dockage is priced right, fuel is expensive - but it was available. Any seafood you want can be purchased right there at great prices. Didn't stay in the rooms, but the villa's looked nice. The people and the staff on the docks were great offering help with anything for little more than a tip. The only downside was no marina bathrooms or showers.

nice out island experience, 2017-06-05

Power is still 195 v but my inverters have been re-tuned. Docks are getting old, and some power pedestals don't work, but considering this is the northermost "outpost", everything is good. Only 197 volts, smart inverters won't work, so low rating. Rosie knows of the problem, but it is a common experience in the Bahamas at lesser marinas. With Victron stacked inverters, could not charge batteries, as we had to run inverter to supplement low voltage. We had to run genset every 6 to 8 hours to recharge house batteries and could only run one AC at a time. Shallow waters at MLLW (4 ft), stay to the right on entrance to the harbor for deeper water. Very strong tidal flow. Purchased stone crab for $15 a pound for jumbos and colassals. Docks are in fair condition, locals zoom by in their small boats, throwing a wake.

Pretty Good, 2017-01-29

Good food, nice people so far pretty good. Some holes in the docks. Very tricky entry at night. Watch out for rock in center of chanel. WIFI decent in off hours, only Rosie?s seems to have WIFI. No milk, very limited supplies.

a bit beat up but loads of charm, 2017-01-05
Captain: , Brooklyn, NY (94)

Matthew did some damage but the village is still alive and well. Marina Wifi still out. Spotty 3G but LTE solid. fuel dock busted up but working. diesel $5.40 a gallon but clean.

Rosie's rest cooked up great lobster (order in advance) and everyone is nice and helpful.

Be sure to walk the neighborhood loop. BTC store, small grocery, liquor store, and a few bars all open.

lots to explore on and off shore.

Came in and out at low tide and lowest we saw was 5'8". Fuel dock and Rosie's place is before the mark so careful not to overshoot.

Laid back and relaxing, but....., 2016-03-16
Captain: , Sneads Ferry, NC (351)

It's a fun island, and as stated elsewhere, it's Rosie's island. He throws his weight around more than we're used to, and it's not likely to change any time soon. We tried to call multiple times on the VHF and cell phone, but no one ever answered. Best to cruise slowly by the T docks and ask the long-term boaters which slip to take.

Great Place to Stay and Fish, 2015-02-20
Captain: , Port St Lucie FL (30)

Marina has Motels rooms with a deep freeze for each unit for the fishing. Plenty places to eat all with in an easy walk. Enjoy it alot

Sat on the bottom at low tide, 2013-02-02
Captain: , Oriental, NC (99)

Only drar 4'-2 and was on the bottom in the outside slip. Restaurant was good with advance notice. Grocery is ok if you get there the day the boat arrives.

Fuel cost update, 2012-06-01
Captain: , Beaufort, NC (220)

While the fuel pumps are not much to look at, the gaas price was reasonable at $6.50 / gal -credit card price. There was a lot of activity with US sportfishing boats at the docks

If you want to get away from it all ..., 2012-04-01
Captain: , Utica, Ohio (245)

There's really not appeal here, especially given what Green Turtle et al have to offer just a day further south.

Rosie is the man to find if you stop here. Nobody else we found would make a decision, they just refer you to Rosie. Rosie was very helpful and very accomodating. He sets the rates, and we paid 75 cents/foot to tie up at the end of his docks. We did find fresh bread at one of the houses, which was very good, but otherwise didn't eat at the bar.

The grocery has mostly empty shelves. Customs supposedly alternates between Grand Cay and Walkers, but we didn't clear here and didn't see any officials.

Rosies is a wonderful oasis., 2011-11-13

This place has alot to offer, specially the fresh baked bread, yum. Take a stroll around the island. It's neat to see.

Great place. Just like the Bahamas was 30 years ago. Excellent fishing is close by and don%u2019t forget to get a bowl of Etta %u2018Js%u2019 conch salad down by the dock. Find Larry he will find or get anything you need.

Rosie's Restaurant, 2010-01-30
Captain: , Pasadena, MD (1496)

OK local food, but with superb ambience. Rosie is a genuine Godfather, in the classic sense of the word. Nothing happens in the northern Abacos without Rosie's consent. Close childhood friend of PM Hon. Hubert Ingraham. From Double Breasted or Grand Cay anchorages, call Rosie's on VHF68 to arrange pickup for lunch/ dinner. A "Grand" experience! Reasonably priced for remoteness of facility.
