Reviews for Rose Marina
Nice stopover, 2017-05-01
Captain: , Houma, LA (417)

We came into Rose Marina on the way to the Keys to get out of bad weather. Contrary to some reviews, there are several restaurants, Publix, CVS and Enterprise Car rental within a short walk. The marina is a busy place, with stacked boats, a repair yard, rentals and tours. Bur for a respite from the seas, it was delightful. The fuel dock is still under repair as of 5/1/17, but fuel is available by truck. During a busy time, you might be on your own to dock, and communication by VHF is spotty (Ch 9).
We walked to Philly Grille for a great dinner. It is on the welcome packet you get at check in. There is a laundry and showers, but I did not use them, so no comment on them. All in all a good stopover.

Good Stop for night, 2017-02-09
Captain: , Lizella GA (1826)

This is a small marina. It has friendly staff and was an easy stop.

Not a super-strong 4 star rating, but it's good and going to be better., 2016-11-24
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1850)

The 4 star rating is for the current under-construction condition. Came in for one night. Very nice staff: helpful, competent. The gift shop is HUGE. Not all that many wet slips, but they're big, floating and in good shape. They are doing a massive redux of everything. The dry slips they're building are crazy-big. Hopefully there will be new bathrooms, showers and laundry facilities. Their current old ones are in terrible condition. I'm assuming that all that will be upgraded. Like a previous commenter said, not much to do in that vicinity. Snook Inn is a bit of a hike to the north, but there is a handy convienience store for the staples down the street. Again, a great place to stop for a ngiht or two, great staff and lofty ambitions. I do have one complaint; they need to clean the bird poop off the docks.

Nice Marina, 2016-09-07
Captain: , Kemah, tx (111)

We got in after pleasant sail from Little Shark. Charles the dock master could not have been nicer.
Durig our stay, Nancy the person in charge of billing and Charles could not have done a more wonderful job. When I needed the repaired chart plotter installed prior to moving the boat to Islan Mujeres. (I could not get there to do it myself) The shop could not do it, so they found an electoric repair facility to come do it. They called, made the arrangemnts and got the part to them. This went above and beyond. I have my notice and moved the boat. There was a missunderstanding and they thought we had just left for a few weeks. My credit card was billed again. When I called, Charles said, " We would never charge for something like that." I will stay here in the future next time we are in the area without any doubt. Thanks Charles and Nancy!!!!

Helpful staff to Transient boaters, 2016-06-21
Captain: , Lakeland Fl. (10)

We had our generator go out on a recent trip to the Keys and stopped at Rose Marina for the night. The service dept was very busy and short staffed, but the service manager, Michael Murray, personally took time to change our impeller so we'd have a/c for the run to Key West the next day. The entire staff was very pleasant and wives enjoyed the well stocked ship's store. I highly recommend this marina and staff and look forward to a return to Marco Island and the newly renovated Rose Marina.

Industrial area, 2016-05-23
Captain: , Niceville, Fl (195)

The marina is decent with some floating docks. Not much around other than the Tiki bar unless you walk about a mile...

Good marina, not much around, 2016-05-19
Captain: , Chicago (135)

This place is in a fairly industrial area, so there's not much to walk to. Good for an overnight, but wouldn't want to spend a lot of time there. The tiki bar next door is pretty much the only thing around for food or drinks.
The docks are decent, and they lent me a 50A to 30A pigtail, which I had forgetten at home, which was nice.

Really Good Marina and Great Service Department, 2016-04-04
Captain: , Cincinnati (252)

Stayed here twice in Febuary and March of 2016. See eboatcards, services for my review of their great serice department. The marina is super easy to access plenty of water. The dockmaster is totally incontrol of his business, very professional. The marina is also located near many restaurants and there is a Publix Grocery in walking distnance. Nothing not to like.

Awesome Ships Store too!!, 2016-02-12
Captain: , MARCO ISLAND (10)

After a wonderful boat rental we found a hidden jem of a Rose Marina Ships Store, great selection and prices!

haul out estimate, 2016-01-22
Captain: , Warsaw KY (30)

Just a word of caution. I had called and gave specific info. on a local boat to have hauled out for purchase survey. I was given an estimate of $12 per foot of 42 ft. boat. While on sling I was told it would be $1011.24 to go back in the water. This was do to the
additional slings and blocking. I was told my 42 Grand Banks weighed in at 82k pounds. Huh funny thing survey said 34k just sayn.

Nice place, 2016-01-04
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (728)

Rose marina is a nice stop on the way to the Key's. The value is about right in this pricy town. Good restaurants in easy walking distance and Publix is about a mile away.
One note of caution. This marina is very busy with fishing charters, rental boats & even the high speed Key West Express docks here. No one, including the dock hands moving the rentals around, give's a hoot about any no wake zones. You will rock and roll from sun up till sun down. Other than that it would be a 4+ rating.

Nice stay for a weather layover, 2015-12-04
Captain: , Englewood, FL - Winter, Cape May, NJ -Summer (1098)

Nice and friendly staff. Floating docks. Ace hardware and NAPA stores within a couple blocks. Publix about a half mile away.
Only downsides we found were only one each mens/womens showers and the boating goods/groceries section of the ships store is small.

It works for me!, 2015-08-14
Captain: , Kemah Tx (32)

I've used their transient dockage on three occasions. With their reasonable fees and generous discount iit sure beats anchoring out and taking the dinghy in when it is time to reprovision. Just a short and pleasnt bike ride to grocries, beverages and hardware.
I didn't mind the constructiopn - just hope that when they're finsished they haven't made it too "nice".
The Key West Express is a plus. Free entertainment watching the passenger come and go.
The satff is friendly and helpful.
Just be sure to "hug the seawall" coming and going.

A Very Nice Marina, 2015-07-20
Captain: , Lakeland (997)

We enjoyed our stay here. Very nice docks and very nice staff. We rented a car to get around for a few days. The service depatment here was also very helpful. Would stay again.

Great stop, 2015-05-03
Captain: , Marathon, FL (458)

We stopped here on our way north from Marathon. They are having some major construction but if you ask for a floating dock slip you will be away from all the noise and will having a great concrete floating dock. The staff was very kind and helpful and our stay was all you could expect. They have a 10 cent discount for fuel and 10 percent off for dockage for Boat US members.

Outstanding Service, 2015-04-29
Captain: , Madeira Beach (141)

Our Yanmar diesel wouldn't start and we were towed in by Boat U.S. Turned out to be a starter solenoid. Charles , the manager, was extremely professional and accommodating. Bob and Lance, two of the maintenance guys, were awesome and professional and had the part FedEx'd. They were quite busy and squeezed us in before the weekend, as we were on a timeline, had to stay an extra night. We were just very impressed all the way around with the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff. The docks are being improved, so lots of construction with gas tank burial, etc. Fuel had to be done via truck, but no affect or delays when tying up to the fuel dock. The heads and showers were average. The Sand Bar was a couple blocks away and good bar/restauraunt food....plenty of locals.

under construction , 2015-04-11
Captain: , Buzzards Bay (391)

I was placed in slip #9 on 4/10/2015 this dock should of been closed to the public. Scary temporary ramp and lots of early morning noise by the 10 or more workmen wearing hard hats. When the repairs are done it should be nice place. ?

Very friendly staff, 2015-04-01
Captain: , Clayton, NY (655)

Publix about 1 mi away in a strip mall with cute shops and a West Marine. Nice nautical store at the marina. Bathrooms are clean. Only down side is the ferry to Key West docks here and you can hear them at 6:30. They are not inconsiderate, you just hear the hum of the motors.

A Gem in Marco, 2015-02-27
Captain: , Sandusky, OH (294)

We've been here three times and will definitely return. Well protected with excellent floating docks that permit you to bow in if you wish. Price is right for Boat US or Seatow members. Customer service is great and the marina is walking distance from everything you need.

Very Impressive, 2015-01-18
Captain: , Fort Collins, CO (107)

After staying at a marina in Ft Myers that provided zero, including customer service, this marina is great in every way. They are less expensive; more accomodating; nicer facilities and everyone has a smile on their face. We are very impressed and would recommend them any time. Boat US members get a 20% discount on dockage. So it ends up being $1.60 per foot. Publix and West Marine are about 3/4 mile and we understand the taxi service is $6 to any where on the island. Wow!

Glad We Found It, 2015-01-13
Captain: , Hobe Sound, Florida (480)

We were headed to another marina, but they did not answer the phone or the VHF call, so we happened into Rose Marina, and were very pleased that we did. When we were taking on fuel, Bruce the dockmaaster saw the smaller size of our boat and the fact that we had a dog to get on and off, and quickly switched us to a floating dock slip, for which we were very grateful. Bathrooms and showers are clean and adequate; store has just about everything, including a friendly and helpful staff.

A lovely marina, 2014-12-29
Captain: , Norwalk (303)

We spent one evening at Rose Marina and to cut to the chase, we will be back for a longer stay. Everyone is helpful, everything works, the marina is well located and the basin itself is delightful.

Location, price, and service excellent - A Great Place to Stay, 2014-12-26
Captain: , Moyock, NC (1084)

We were pleasantly surprised to find an available slip during the holidays, a good USBoat discount where we were charged $1.60/ft, diesel fuel @ $3.08/gal, and A Carr Transportation free to a number of area restaurant and clubs. The island is a really lovely place. The marina is working on some renovations. Pay attention to the provided navigation into the marina's basin.

easy access, good people, 2014-11-27
Captain: , Marco Island Fla (30)

very friendly people and good service at Rose.

Captain: , Marco Island, FL (502)

Nice dock worker, Patrick.
Easy face dock. $3.95 for diesel before BoatUS discount.

Fair Marina, 2014-08-20
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

Staff was nice, fueled close to closing without any issues. Pay attention to the markers coming in, it's very eazy to run aground. Hug the sea wall.

Great People & Service, 2014-08-05
Captain: , Marathon, FL (70)

Poor weather had us arriving after dark. We talked to Bruce ahead of time and he really took care of us. We will definately stay here again when passing through.
S/V Southern Star

Disappointing, 2014-07-28
Captain: , St Petersburg, Fl (222)

The actual facility is very nice but we encountered quite an attitude from staff. It started when we called ahead to find out when the fuel dock closed as we planned to fuel if time allowed. The man on the phone provided us with closing time and asked what size boat. We informed him of the size and we would be taking about 250 gallons so he said they don't like to fuel larger boats if it gets too close to closing time so we should try to arrive well prior to closing. He did leave off by saying call on VHF upon arrival and they would take care of us. Upon arrival, well before closing, we called on radio and he said he had trouble reading our transmissions and stated we were not speaking into the mike correctly in a very sarcastic tone. That could happen once but not 3 times.

Once fueling crew went in store to see if we could purchase a case of water. The same employee then stated, " does his look like a grocery store to you" and said they only have individual bottles and it would be quite expensive to buy that many bottles. Anyway, this gives you the gist of the attitude we encountered from the older man working there. The young boy working the fuel dock was quite nice however.

I have fueled here on our annual trip to the Keys for about 20 years and never experienced this type of attitude before. We will use the fuel truck at the yacht club next time and skip this place altogether.

pretty darn good, 2014-06-20
Captain: , miami (120)

In my opinion, about as good as a marina gets. Docks in excellent condition, big operation with on-site service, parts, fuel, large gift/tackle shop, etc. And the price: dirt cheap by FL standards, for a 37' sailboat we paid $62.75 for a night (after BoatUS discount). Highly recommended and would certainly go there again.

Repair work, 2014-03-07
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (40)

Diesel engine failed in a cold front and 9 foot seas. Had to be towed in. Accommodated me over weekend but could not work on the boat until later the next week as quite busy. Appreciated their not charging for slip while working on the boat but did need to pay for the weekend when yard was closed.

Excellent stop for cruisers of all draft, 2014-02-06
Captain: , Bath, IL (240)

I have stopped here twice now and had excellent service both times. It's back out of the rediculous boat wake from the channel which makes docking easy. All amenaties are here.

Excellent stop, 2013-10-22
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (201)

Stopped here headed south to Key West and again coming north (October 2013). Very helpful and competent staff. We arrived after hours with a reservation, and the staff had hidden a shower key for us. We checked in in the morning. Plenty of water in the channel. Floating dock made side tie off easy. Good ship's store and short walk to West Marine and groceries. Would stop here again if in the neighborhood.

Friendly staff great stopover., 2013-09-11
Captain: , Sanford, FL (657)

Other than September this is a great place to stop. We were here in April 2013 on our way to the keys and we liked it enough that we decided to stop in again on our way back North. We didn't have time to really enjoy it in April but in September, we got in early enough to relax and enjoy. Stopped into the Tiki Bar next door for a late meal. Coffee in the morning was also very good and the staff was eager to help and some even remembered our first stop. We will plann to return in April 2014 and again in August 2014.

on way to keys, 2013-08-23
Captain: , folly beach sc (62)

stopped here for a couple of days to pick weather to head on to the keys. dock hands, marina store, everyone was helpful and very nice. had our dog and there was plenty of walking thru the local neighborhood. the burrowing owls had their "burrows" right there beside the marina. walked next door to the Dolphin Tiki Bar/Restaruant and had the triple tail fish. Awesome! it is a little pricey but loved the easiness of everything!

Great service!, 2013-08-09
Captain: , St. Petersburg, Fl (10)

Unfortunately had to use their service department since one of my Yanmars would not crank. Wayne found a broken wire in a bundle within an hour. Very friendly staff and the floating docks are a nice touch. Some wake from rentals and charters during the day on the outside dock.

Average Marina, 2013-04-23
Captain: , Islamorada, FL (147)

I refueled before striking out to the Keys. Fuel staff was very friendly and helpful. Inside shop, the staff on hand were not very helpful. Block ice available.

Nice well run marina Great Value, 2013-01-28
Captain: , St Petersburg FL (110)

There is a West Marine, Publix, and shopping about 1/2 mile walk away. The marina staff were great. There is a cool restaurant/bar on the waterfront (The Dolphin) that serves all three meals. Their food and personal service was memorable. This marina runs a lot of sightseeing tours. They have a good store, but not a food store. Very well run. At $1.60/foot this is a good value. Gas was $4.43 with USBoat. Pleasant place, quiet enough but with a nice buzz of activity during the day.

Nice Place, 2012-06-16
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

Worth staying here. It was a bit of a long walk from oour slip to ship stores, etc. Nice facilities.

Great marina in a great location, 2012-03-14
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

Tucked into the back of Factory Bay this is a nice marina right in the middle of everything you need in Marco. Its just minutes by walking or bikes to a Publix and West Marine, and almost any business you need. The Snook Inn is an easy walk or dinghy ride. The staff was very helpful catching our lines. They have a very good Ship's store on property. The bathrooms need a good deal of help because they get so much use from the folks catching the Key West ferry which departs from these docks. Other than the restrooms, this is a nice marina.

A place you could easily stay for a while...., 2012-03-09
Captain: , Marietta, GA (260)

Excellent marina. Friendly people who met us at the slip and did everything from catching lines to hooking up power. Nice area and well protected. Laundry available, but did not use. Very nice floating dock. Great ship's store and fun nearby tiki hut for happy hour. Unfortunately, only stayed one night. Would definitely return and stay longer.

A VERY GOOD MARINA, 2012-02-22
Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1643)

The staff is helpful and friendly. Although I had a problem getting them to answer the radio and phone for slip directions they eventually showed up and were very helpful in tying up. The docks are floating concrete. Wide and very stable. There is only 1 men's restroom and shower, and one women's. The ships store carries an extensive clothing inventory, a well stocked tackle shop and a small marine section. There is also a booming boat rental business and bait shop. The local restaurants are varied and some will even pay your cab fare bith ways. The Publix is about 1/2 mile walk, and for $6 you can take a cab back with your groceries. The only downside is the Key West Express Cat loading and unloading many passengers at 8AM and 8Pm.

Very friendly helpful staff, 2012-01-23
Captain: , Florida Keys (735)

The staff here from friendly, and showed interest in pleasing transient guests. The fuel is discounted for Boat US and for volume n(over 150_) There is a single stack washer/drier for $1.50 each to wash and dry, sized about like a regular household unit.

There are floating docks as well as fixed docks. The floating docks are nice; with side docks on one side, and a single piling on the other.

A nice stop on the way to the Keys, 2011-12-26
Captain: , Mullica Hill, NJ (688)

This marina is now called Rose Marina. The folks are really nice, the floating docks are in great shape. The marina is far enough in to Factory Bay so that the wake bounces are minimized. Only one head and shower cuts the stars to four. Several nearby Restaurants and a free cab to several others.

BOAT STORAGE, 2011-12-14
Captain: , Marco Island, Fl (63)

I have cruised extensively carib. Europe etc I have anchored and stayed at many marinas. Now keep Boston Whaled here. Not plush but can't beat area for marine store restaurants etc. If cost is problem anchorage is excellent and use dinghy dock.

Great Marina 12/07/2011, 2011-12-12
Captain: , Punta Gorda FL (1709)

Very nice marina with excellent faciltites and services. Pulled in her to hide from a front on the way back from Key West. Very couteous and helpful staff and told us about all the discounts upfront. 10% off dockage for Boat US members made it $1.60 per foot per night. 10% for fuel for Boat US members as well. 15% off fuel if you take 150 gallons or more. Staff was always there to help you with lines. Ship's store had great and unusual Xmas gifts. Will make this a permanent stop over to and from the Keys.

Good experience , 2011-05-15
Captain: , New Orleans, LA (40)

Looks like people either love or hate this place; we had a nice one night stay 13 May 2011. Gracious helpful staff, slip $2.00 ft incld electric. Vic's pizza delivers a superior pizza to the marina.

Key West Bound, 2011-02-02
Captain: , Hernando Beach, Fl (300)

We stopped here for one night, on our way to Key West. The slips were pricey, but good service. Not much there but the Dolphin Bar. The High and dry is very noisy on the weekends. Fuel was very high priced.

Pleasant surprise, 2010-12-14
Captain: , Key West, FL (10)

I travel this area frequently heading to Fort Meyers. At first I wasn't going to stay here because of the reviews. A crab trap line changed my mind. They were the only ones that could help me, and they did it quickly and at a reasonable price. I also found Jacks and the Dolphin Tiki hut to keep me fed and entertained right on the property. The Dockmaster was great, it seems like he's always there. I stay there all the time now. They do need newer showers though, otherwise a five.

Great Place, 2010-09-25
Captain: , Coconut Grove, Miami FL (21)

Both my wife and I were very impressed with this facility. The staff was consistantly friendly and helpful with the lines and information about the surrounding area. Granted, fuel was expensive, but they give 'return customers' discounts on both dockage and fuel. Has a store attached to the facility but filled mostly with 'tourist' things. The ships store portion could be expanded at the expense of the trinkets. Will admit the toilets could be improved upon though. Bottom line - high marks for attitude and overall facility appearence - low for cost (especially fuel)

First Class Marina!, 2010-06-09
Captain: , Marco River Marina, Inc. (59)

Let's face it...nobody is happy spending money to get their boat repaired, but when you have to, you want to feel that the work was done correctly and be treated by the service staff with respect and professionalism. I have a 54' searay and recently had it serviced at Rose Marco River Marina, and that is exactly what I experienced! It cost me $4,600, but the service writers kept me in the loop by communicating the progress to me almost daily, and they were courteous and professional. I had the bottom painted and boat detailed, as well as well as some repair issues with the trim/tilt, and other misc repairs. The whole job was done within 10 days and the work was done right! I don't know what happend with you Captains Doc and Sterling, but my experience was the complete opposite. Perhaps they've made changes and improvements since you were there. I didn't like spending the money, but at least they left me feeling like it was worth paying the price for the quality of work that was completed!

You better off to anchor out., 2008-07-12
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

This marina may hold you boat hostage, and double charge you!
Has the Marco Attitude!

Barely Do, 2007-12-06
Captain: , Ft. Myers (406)

This is basically a boat yard with a few very expensive transient slips. The heads are terrible and their attitude is the same. Marco is very self centered and is going to charge outsiders for enjoying their town. The only plus is Aururo's Fine Dining Italian Restuarant about two blocks down the same street as the marina.
