Reviews for Rockport Marine

We came to Rockport Marine for a small repair on Friday, which they knocked out quickly and professionally. I was impressed by their quick response and craftsmanship, so I inquired about some some other needed repairs and stayed over the weekend. This is a first class yard, with great craftsmen at reasonable rates. They even toured us around some of the interesting projects. We are very glad that we stopped in Rockport and then road our bikes to Camden; it's much quieter and quaint in Rockport. We hope to come back to Rockport Marine.

the Absolute Best, 2016-07-03

We were lucky to,purchase a boat, which had been wintered here. Upon purchase we met with Charlie Conan to review updates we wished to make.
The level of expertise, craftsmanship, and friendliness, we enjoyed was beyond anything we had ever experienced anywhere. Carpentry, fabrication, painting, rigging, electronics, at every juncture we met incomparable skill and enthusiasm for the craft!

We were on a mooring ball for a few days when we decided to buy a kayak from Maine Outdoor Sports (about a mile up to the left up Main St on Rt 1). Problem was how to get it back to the boat? We asked at the office if we could borrow a vehicle, Lucia the office manager gladly gave us the keys to the boatyard pickup truck. She told us we could use it anytime after hours, but we did not take her up on that. Cheapest fuel I have found in Pen Bay

good value and service, 2015-08-13

I was able to call after hours and leave a voice mail asking for a mooring. the next day they called back with my mooring assignment. when I arrived I called to check in and paid visa credit card on the phone. pleasant and efficient service in a nice location.

Prettiest little harbor on the Western Shore of Penobscot Bay, 2015-07-25

Rockport Marine moorings have numbers and the letters "RMI" on them. They don't monitor the radio so call. After hours just pick up any vacant one with "RMI" on it. Shepard's Pie and Salt Water Farm are great restaurants just above the head of the harbor and Graffam Brothers lobster shack is a short walk up the road and widely considered the best in the area. Fuel dock at Rockport Marine is only about 40' long with a finger slip at the end. There was an immaculate wooden yacht on it the day we were there so only 30' to tie-up on. Best approach is a port-side.

Kinetic, not geologic, 2014-08-26

We stopped here to visit friends and stayed on a Rockport Marine mooring. We were able to reserve this in advance and they were most accommodation when we arrived.
Looks like a very high quality yard.
Walked up the hill and had lobster roll at the shack...very good!
I used to think that Rockland and Rockport names had some geologic connotation but have learned that it is more kinetic!
Beautiful homes, tranquil town.

I cannot give them enough priase., 2014-07-24

We stopped at Rockport marine for them to look at our engines fresh water pump.

Without prompting they'd ordered ahead all the parts and were ready and waiting for us. They very quickly got us to the dock and fixed the problem.

The communication is the best of any yard I've ever been in and they are happy for you to wander around their sheds looksing at the stunning boats they are working on.

Their labour rates are really resonable and they didn't charge us to be on their dock for the day.

Nice Alternative to Roickland/Camden, 2011-08-11

In a slip for a couple of days at Rockport Marine. Very helpful dockmaster (Noah). Reasonable diesel price - $3.89, including tax - for the times! Quiet town with a good restaurant - Shepherd's Pie. Good walking around the harbor.

A Quiet Alternative to Rockland, 2010-04-18
Captain: , York, ME (1880)

Rockland is considered THE destination for Western Penobscot Bay, but don't overlook it's neighbor, Rockport.

Rockport Marine is right near a park with old lime kilns and other evidence of the town's history, and of course, the statue of Andre the Seal. There's a small swimming beach, or you can watch the osprey hunt. Walk up the trail to the old mounts of tailings from the lime business. There are small restaurants and shops in town, near the docks. This is a very relaxing stop, not much night life, but everything you and your boat need.
