Reviews for Rocketts Landing Marina
Only Marina Close to Richmond., 2016-11-06
Captain: , Rocketts Landing (12)

Since it is the only marina close to downtown Richmond you have to take what you can get. Wakes are a problem. Boaters fishing and going to and from Ancarrow%u2019s landing don't understand what no wake means. In recent years the marina has been staffed better with a presence every day from noon or so till the evening. Gas is available but very expensive. Water depth is fine but since it is just south of rapids the current can be very bad.

STILL NOT READY, 2014-09-04
Captain: , Richmond, VA (181)

We spent a week here in a 45 foot ketch. Positive comments - floating docks were nice, price wasn't bad ($30 a day, with electricity, and the seventh night was free), and the harbor master is a good guy. Negative comments - there is no dedicated marina office, the harbor master works part-time/on call, there is no wi-fi, the parking is shared with two restaurants with a "will tow after two hours policy". Biggest issue - although this is supposed to be a NO WAKE zone, there is no enforcement. We spent the week rolling. Basically, this is a set of slips for people coming in to dine at the restaurants.

James River Adventure day 2, 2014-06-30
Captain: , Portsmouth, VA (430)

Traveled up the James to Rocketts Landing, called all the numbers listed . . . left a message, received no response, no call back. When up the river viewed the marina which had some large boats, 31+', mine a 42'; area had strong current and small docks. Could have docked half the boat in the slip . . . would not have stayed, anchorage down river was the better plan.

slamming your boat around

Dock at your own risk, 2013-10-01
Captain: , Richmond, VA (79)

After 3 years of having our boat slammed against the docks by wakes, we finally had to move. Every day, wakeboarders, jet skiers and bass boats go full speed 20ft from the bow of your boat. One of the restuarants on site even hosts a wakeboarding contest at the marina. If you care about your boat, do not dock here long term.

Marina trying toget it's act together, 2011-05-09
Captain: , Orwell, VT (74)

This marina is a little difficult to contact, suggest calling dockmaster 804-222-3555. This phone # not listed on website. Floating docks and lots of help to get in once you contact dockmaster by phone. You need help as it is necessary to dock with a mild/strong current (depending on tide) on your beam as you stern in. Two restaurants on site. We did not try eather one as friends picked us up for dinner. Price for my 39 ft motor was $45/night + metered electric. Rest rooms are small and had no hot water or water pressure. I was assured that more restrooms and showers are in the plan as soon as permits are obtained.ONE BIG PROBLEM water on the dock marked as non potable. I was assured that it was city water but no filters and advised to filter before filling my tank which I did not do. Upgrade to the water system is planned, I was told. This marina is part of a large condo complex which is about 50-70% complete. I think they are paying more $ attention to the condos and waiting to make necessary upgrades to the marina.

Rocketts Landing, 2009-08-16
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (691)

New marina with full services. Good staff. Within 1.5 miles walking of Richmond's Shockoe Bottom/Slip. Only $45 for 36 foot boat. Recent cruise with 7 boats from Norfolk. Largest boat 49 feet. James River is a beautiful and varied trip.
