Reviews for Rock Harbor Marine
Good place to leave the boat, 2016-12-05
Captain: , Bedford, NH (715)

We arrived on Sept. 16. Fuel dock and pump out is self serve across the small basin from the main marina with no staff. Wasn't a problem for us, we don't need help with lines. Since we were leaving the boat for a few weeks, they put us closest to the building so they could keep an eye on the boat. Very protected marina and a great place to stop or leave the boat. Very nice people here. There is a washer and dryer but it is in the ladies room. It is one room with one toilet, shower and the laundry so if it is in use for any reason by one person, no one else can use it. In real need of updating. There is a restaurant on site. Very busy but food is just OK. Had lunch and bread on sandwich was stale (hard).

Got the work done right, on time, fair price, 2016-09-11
Captain: , Huntington Harbour, CA (317)

Evidently there has been a management change in the past 3 years and this is now a great place to have work done. Decided to have them take care of some boat projects while we flew home to get out of the heat. When we returned all of the work had been completed and the price was reasonable. Projets included: fixing some scratches in our AwlGrip (yes, many places have said they can't do that, but these guys said - yes, we can and they did- looks fabulous), fixed our properllers (didn't realize we had a nick in one of the props until we pulled out the boat), replaced a spur (that got broken when the prop got nicked), and replaced shaft packing. They allowed Bates Marine to polished and waxed the boat without charging us an additional fee for the service. When they put the boat back in the water they did a complementary boat wash to hose off the dirt from being in the boat yard. Overall very happy with the quality of the service and price. Also, we enjoyed some great meals at the Blue Moon restaurant.

Excellent Mechanics & Service, 2016-07-05
Captain: , Johns Creek Georgia (140)

I just bought a 1997 SeaRay Sundancer 330 in Nashville. We live in Atlanta. In the survey, several cosmetic issues came up and I hired a Captain to pilot the boat across town to Rock Harbor for the fixes. During that trip, the Port engine failed and had to be replaced. It worked great during my two sea trials but I had already wired the money. Now the cost of the fix ups doubled in price. I sent my repair list to Jennifer at Rock Harbor. She is very knowledgable and helpful. They ordered a reman engine from Jasper when we learned Mercruiser did not have my 454 Gen 6 model in stock. While the boat took two weeks longer than expected to be ready, I'm very happy with the results and fair price charged. I'd rate them five stars except for two things. There were a couple minor repairs they declined to do. Plus, I had to stay over several nights at their marina and it is not transient friendly. There is a great restaurant/bar on property but it is not a Looper overnight marina. But if you have serious mechanical work needed on your vessel, this is the best place in Nashville.

Best Service in the Southeast, 2015-12-24
Captain: , Nashvile, TN (133)

I brought my 341 Meridian to RHM for a bottom job as well as some odds and ends that needed to be taken care of while the boat was hauled. It was fairly obvious this boat needed new paint, but when we hauled it needed props, anodes, some epoxy work, and all the bolts in my stern thruster were corroded out. (Corroded stainless steel is another wierd story for another day) Paul and his crew had my boat out of the water and props off in 30 minutes. Bottom was pressure washed and inspected within the hour. They moved my boat into one of two indoor work facilities and began work

Within a day they had the boat completely sanded and prepped for paint. We indentified 7 spots that needed expoxy and barrier coat. They repaired those for a very resonable price.

They use Sea Hawk Cukote paint and appled 4 gallons to the bottom. All of the split lines are crisps. The entire bottom is much better than the factory job.

Props were put on yesterday and sea trials gave me another 250 RPM and almost 5MPH. Also they did a full transmission service with fluid and filters.

In and out in 8 days for under 3K. Staff was uber professional. If you are looping at at Green Turtle come on down to Nashville for repair work. Nice place to take a break and see some sights, and have quality work to continue your trip with. I simply can't say enough nice things about the team at RHM.

Good work, good restaurant, poor facilities, 2015-10-01
Captain: , Nashville, TN (115)

This marina does good repair work, especially on fiberglass, and has a 50-ton travelift. But as a transient marina, the facilities are very limited. There are 4-5 transient slips and one of those may be occupied by the marina's work boat. Water is available and power for an extra price. A couple of weeks before this writing, the restroom facilities were very much under par, i.e. bring your own toilet paper, assume you'll be slogging through water, and the door locks don't work so there's no privacy. Hopefully, they will correct all this very soon.
The Blue Moon restaurant is good, worth a visit, although a bit overpriced (as expected from a waterfront place).
Entrance off the river is narrow and rather shallow (5-6', depending on river level) but it gets deep once inside. They will tell you to slightly favor the left side coming in.
All in all, not a bad place to stop.

Nice Place, odd location, 2015-08-30
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (778)

Rock Harbor is a nice marina with a good resturant on site called "Blue Moon". You can get to Nashville sites fairly easily from this marina, however, its in the middle of a industrial park on the shore side. Entrance can be shallow, so, stay in the center.

Dont buy your diesel here, 2014-11-03
Captain: , Punta Gorda FL (1709)

Dont buy your diesel here. The marina is very nice, but the fuel prices are outrageous. Go to Creekwood Marina on Old Hickory. They have the best prices in the area. Restaurant is good and local are very friendly.

Protected & Clean, 2014-10-09
Captain: , Winter Garden, Fl (2173)

The rates are good, they have nice, sturdy floating docks with good power & water (great pressure!). Free laundry and a very good ship's store. However; no restaurant, bar or courtesy car.

Remote and Friendly, 2014-07-21
Captain: , santa barbara (696)

A bit remote but very friendly folks at office and in marina. Good docs, power and water. Restaraunt on site.

Good place to visit but little to offer for long term, 2014-05-27
Captain: , Murfreesboro, TN (360)

After completing the Loop we wintered at RHM and enjoyed the stay. We departed when Spring came because Old Hickory Lake has much more to offer. Everyone at RHM were perfessional and curtious.

Calm harbor, 2013-10-19
Captain: , Chicago, IL (998)

Based on previous comments we called ahead on Wednesday for Friday dockage, Julie (Office Manager) said they do not regularly monitor the radio, best to call on the phone. She sent us a marina map as well as marina info (gate codes, restuarant info) via email. Called as we entered the harbor and they had folks to catch our lines at the dock. Blue Moon had incredible food and the band was excellent. Really no barge traffic on this side of Nashville so the boat was still as could be Friday-Sunday.

Improvements to Rock harbor, 2013-09-25
Captain: , Hampstead, NC (12)

We have been at Rock Harbor since June 2013. It has been completely renovated and Dennis the dockmaster is very accomadating. We did the loop in 04-05 and if you stay here we have a car. There is also a very nice restaurant. We are Roy El in C 13.

Rock Harbor Marina, 2013-08-11
Captain: , Louisville, Ky. (200)

Arrived at 4pm after making reservation by phone and was told to look for dock A with small sign that had our name on it. After tying up realized we had no gate codes-left message on phone contact-no return call. Managed to get gate code from another boater. No courtesy car and no info about cab service. Not very accommodating for weary travelers

Not impressed Sept 2012, 2012-11-13
Captain: , St. Louis (340)

I hate it when a marina has no idea where to put visiting boats or how to direct them. Made reservation here because it was a football weekend and Nashville downtown dock was full. Very disorganized place. appeared to be unaware that transient boats boats were coming in, did not moniter radio, and person answering phone had no idea where to direct us. Sent us to a dock without working power pedestals, a fellow came strolling down to tell us not to stay there but did not know where to direct us or the air draft of the covered slip he finally recommended. Heads were "minimalist". Stayed one night and were glad to move on.

Good place to visit Nashville., 2011-11-05
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, FL (603)

Very nice marina; good facilities. No courtesy car but Enterprise services the marina. With car, good provisioning and all the joys of a city. We had a covered slip and it was great. Entrance channel is a little shallow but the interior is a deep old quarry.

Great harbor with terrific people, 2011-10-09
Captain: , Cape Canaveral (1101)

We have really enjoyed ourselves here. Owner Arch Kelley and his staff have gone out of their way to welcome us, assure our needs were taken care of, provided transportation, and in every way make sure we practically felt like long time slip holders and a member of the marina community. The harbor is clean, docks in good shape, and next year the restuarant is scheduled to return. Nearby are every shopping opportunity one could possibly need: Publix, Costco, Walmart, restuarants, and of course the well known attractions of Nashville. In sum, this stop exceeded our expectations and we will be back to this transient friendly marina.

Good repair yard, 2009-07-10
Captain: , currently Plantation Yacht Harbor, Islamorada, Fla. Keys (4419)

Had my 46' hauled for bottom paint and minor repairs to storm damage around swim platform. Very competent staff who performed work in timely manner. Worked well with my insurance co. and surveyor. Pricey, as they are virtually the only game in town for haul-outs this large.

Sheltered, 2008-09-04
Captain: , Absarokee Mt (1228)

Good harbor, LHD old rock quarry, good restuarant but noisy after 5pm with a big party crowd, a meat market atomsphere, good sunday brunch. Docks older. Call ahead and ask for Archie (owner), he will negotiate dock and fuel prices if pushed. . Does have travel lift with service and paint capabilities

Rock Harbor, 2008-06-18
Captain: , Charleston, SC (364)

Nice staff. Resturant with good entertainment on site. Music is loud and late. Prices are high for area. Transient dock has poor electrical and no water. Charged $25 for pump out
