Last stop North., 2015-12-23
Captain: , Toronto (482)

Ifyou're heading north along the Canadian shore, this will be the last decent supply and fuel stop for a very long time.

The marina is nice but maneuvering can be tight for larger vessels.

Go to this marina, if you can. They charge you after closing only 50 % of the normal rates! Water and electricity is still working and Brand is a very nice guy. He drove us around with his car. The marina is well protected, no waves. On the other side of the river you pay twice as much and the boats are always moving.

good stop in the soo, 2015-09-18
Captain: , Catawba Island Ohio (530)

Have stayed here in the past and again this year after Labor Day. If you call ahead of time and make arrangements and they will meet you to collect money and give you keys and wi-fi codes. They have good weekly and off season rates. Virginia, the staff member who came down was super friendly. The docks are not the newest but more than adeqate as are the restrooms. The waterfront is very nice with a boardwalk and bike path. An enclosed mall is a short walk with sears, wallmart movie theatre, food court and many other stores. In the past we have done the train ride and the bushplane museum, which we both enjoyed. We have been in and out of the marina a few times with no problems with the current, just be aware.

Not so much, 2015-08-11
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

Incredibly difficult marina to enter. The current coming out of the power plant is vicious. If combined with wind makes this almost impossible to safely enter and leave. Be wary -- the dockstaff with encourage you to stay close to the metal wall on entering. However, if there is a strong current it back fills and pushes you into that wall. Docks are ok. Showers and restrooms not up to scratch and the town didn't catch our fancy. However, the Bush Plane Museum was worth the trip on its own. The museum is a don't miss place.

good place to get ready for Superior, 2014-08-10
Captain: , Naples, FL (1096)

Staff are great. Did not have to use laundry or pump out as we did that across the river at Kemp so cannot comment. Nice walking paths at waterfront. Take a walk to whitefish island. City Meats is within walking distance. Excellent meats, bread, Italian deli items. Marina staff may provide transport to Pinos for full shopping - go! Shopping center nearby has marginal Walmart. Joe's, within walking distance, is an outfitter and can sell you cold weather clothing which you will need it going to Lake Superior. Farmers market on Wed afternoon and Sat morning at waterfront.

Worth the stop, 2014-07-10
Captain: , Montague, MI (140)

We stayed for 2 nights and did the Agawa Train tour, it was very good! Overall nice marina, older and the showers not the greatest as the set up gets the floor wet. Close to the mall but not gift shops, very good pizza from Aurora's and they deliver to the marina!

After Labor Day, 2013-09-03
Captain: , Big Torch Key, FL (1956)

After the marina closes at Labor Day, docking is still possible. The hydro and water will stay on for a few more weeks. If docking in September, walk to City Hall to pay for dockage and to obtain a key to the rest rooms. The fuel docks and pump out are closed.

Great stop in the Soo, close to shopping, restaurants, etc. Friendly, helpful staff and clean facilities.

Excellent, friendly and helpfull staff. Close to town and all advantages. Near groceries and restaurants. In 2010 the Canadian Locks were closed for repairs. If they are open they are easier for recreational boat to lock through. This marina is close to the Canadian locks. The marina slips and fuels are more expensive than the Kemph Marina on the U. S. side.

Nice marina and town, 2010-08-22
Captain: , Newport, RI (10275)

Be sure to spend a day walking around the area and exploring it. The Canadian Locks Historic Site is quite interesting and the natural area is very nice. We really enjoyed the Bush Plane museum. Tomorrow we're headed on the Agawa Canyon train ride, which I'm really looking forward to.

The interesting restaurants on Queen Street (E of the post office) are quite pricy with entrees running $25-35. We ate at the Docks restaurant, which is next to the marina. It was very average and I wished that I would have spent the $s for the good restaurants on Queen street instead of having a so-so meal.

Dock Downtown!, 2008-10-14

Great place to dock your boat and enjoy downtown Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Next door to Docks River Front Grill for great food and drink.
