Reviews for Riverlink Park
Great stop , 2017-07-29
Captain: , Chicago (660)

We called as we were coming through the locks and we're told to pull right up. $1 a ft including electric. Free pump out. Decent facilities and free laundry. We only used restrooms so can't speak to laundry or showers. We did see the quarters by the laundry. Shared with the restaurant washing table cloths.

Walk up to restaurant and into the kitchen to pay for dockage. When we did so the man who took our money told my daughters that kids for free sundaes at the restaurant that night.

We took a cab to target. Every store you might need around target. A $5.50 cab ride.

Dinner at the restaurant was good. Their bbq is excellent. Brisket and wings both fabulous. The sundae was not a kids sundae but a work of art. Bowl big enough for the family. Four scoops of ice cream and a huge warm brownie in the middle covered in every topping you can imagine.

The next morning we waited out some rain. Girls were able to ride scooters and go to playground. There is a beautiful waterfront path. We walked and scootered a ways over the pedestrian bridge. Gorgeous flowers and plaques with history of the area snippets every 20 ft or so.

Lovely stop after a long day of 9 locks from Waterford.

High water stopover, 2017-07-20
Captain: , Pearl Harbor, HI (703)

Ended up here for three days awaiting (along with 10 others) the debris clearance of locks and dams up stream. Nice facility. Laundry is free. Walmart, Home Depot, Target and Harbor Freight all located within 5 miles of dock. Unfortunately they are a long uphill bike ride, but on the other hand its all down hill back to the boat!

Almost there on solving power issues!, 2017-07-01
Captain: , Tully, NY (100)

This is an impressive facility to be sure!! Dan works extremely hard to make your stay a positive one. Power issues still persist, but he has found ways to work around them. Reverse polarity problem and loose connections at pedestals were a problem for us. He brought down extension cords and plugged us in at entertainment stage area. City engineer came down and informed us that they have ordered all new plugs and that after many attempts to solve this issue, they are hoping this will do it. Trains are close and whistles are even louder, but we found we got used to it. Earlier posts indicated security problems, but we didn't find that at all. Uber & Lyft now available in upstate NY, so were able to do some major provisioning at a local Target. Free laundry facilities were a huge hit!!!!

Amsterdam Wall, 2017-06-23
Captain: , Harrison Township Michigan (380)

Stayed here 3 days. Nice stop. Lots of train noise though. Watch for the debris in the water. Not much to do on the mooring side of the river. You can walk on the walking bridge to the other side. A few restaurants and bars there. Don't miss going to Shorty's Southside restaurant. Best food and largest portions we have seen in a long time. 51 Broad St. Just over the bridge.

Easy, Pretty Stop, 2017-06-17
Captain: , Campbell Creek, NC (564)

6-15-17 Picturesque park surrounds the dock. Floating dock has power, some of the wall has power and some water taps.
There is an issue with reverse polarity on some power towers until there are lots of boats plugged in. DAN called the city engineer and he was down here within 15 mins to check it out. Not fixed yet.
Call DAN at 518-320-4868 for info or dock and then find him at the cafe overlooking the dock.
DAN goes out of his way to be helpful. He literally gives you the key to the place for bathrooms, shower and FREE laundry!
Very nice upscale menu including 27oz Ribeye dinner.
Wifi is spotty.
Park is great for walking dogs, or kids to play and goes a long way. Lots of vignettes throughout the park, including a 911 Memorial with piece of World Trade Center up lighted at night; very well done.

Beautiful park and docks, 2016-09-23
Captain: , La Crosse, WI (941)

Beautiful setting with power and water available. Dan was a great guy- very helpful. Unfortunately the restrooms and showers were not clean. We walked across the new walking bridge and down the street to Parillo's Armory grill. Fantastic Italian buffet the night we were there. Great family run restaurant. Worth the short walk! Trains are close and use there whistles.

Dan is Great, 2016-08-14
Captain: , Portland, ME (240)

but that is about all we can say about this stop. If you stay on the park grounds, and the Cafe is open, you will have a four maybe even five star visit. The park is beautifully maintained, and Dan does everything possible to make your stay enjoyable, even openning up his cafe for showers and bathrooms (he gives you the key to the place!).

But there is nothing past the failed mall that boarders the park. Dan was closed, so we wandered into town, found some decent pizza, but that was it.

We would go back, but we were looking for a little more to do besides hang in the park, we planned ofr two days, stayed for one.

Nice stop for two days. , 2016-08-02
Captain: , Crown point, in (70)

Ended up staying two nights due to rains on the second day. We were put right in front of the pump out so that was a no brainier. Great food at the restaurant...outdoors dining only. Nice park with live music on Saturdays although there is competition with the passing trains.
Think about sharing your meals...huge portions...and reasonably priced.
Pleasant walk in the park.

Read the caution before lock 11 going west!

Nice, unexpected stop, 2016-08-01
Captain: , Newburgh,NY (110)

We ducked in here when thunderstorms approached. Decided to spend the night. The owner and staff at the restaurant were all friendly and helpful. We stayed on floating dock, the 30 amp power was fine.

Great stop in the summer, 2016-07-23
Captain: , Tempe, AZ (240)

We stayed overnight on Wednesday in July and got to enjoy the summer concert series the Town of Amsterdam puts on in the park. The "Marina" is essentially the restaurant, which has a back hallway with restrooms and a shower for boaters. They let the boaters use their washer/dryer for free. Nice people and very clean facilities.

Nice enough stop, 2016-07-04
Captain: , Bedford, NH (775)

We stayed one night, June 21. Had to stay on the high wall for 50 amp power and difficult to get off the boat. Boats were already docked in front of the pump out so couldn't do that. Really should leave that space open. Water only available at the pump out site so no access to that either. Grounds are pretty and there was a restaurant on site. Advertised hours showed it closed but they were open. Food was good. Trains do pass by very close and are loud but it was OK through the night. Nothing really to do in the area but not a bad place to stop. If you get there early, you may be able to get a space with lower wall and they do have floating docks with 30 amp power. The new owner of the Restaurant is also the dockmaster and is very helpful.

Problems with power, 2016-06-17
Captain: , Groton, CT (146)

Had to try a couple different power outlets and had to ask the guy a couple of times to turn on the water. Very noisy with the trains blowing the whistle every 25 minutes or so. Biggest problem was with some punk stealing stuff off the boats

Loved the pretty setting, 2016-06-11
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2870)

We, too, had issues with intermittent grond on the 30A power on the floating docks, but it did not prevent us from using it. We enjoyed the beautiful setting and patronized the on-site bar.

No ground on power, 2016-06-05
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1550)

Restraraunt was closed however Dan had someone to meet us, even in hard rain. The 30amp power outlets do not have a good ground and a boat all ready here said the 50 amp outlets did not work at all.

great stop! very accommodating, 2016-05-18
Captain: , Stockton Springs Maine (81)

After spending 7 hrs passing through 10 locks, it was a treat to find this place. Excellent docks, and bulkhead, with working power 50 amp or 30 amp clean rest rooms and free, that's right, free laundry. Restaurant opened on week ends now, then full time beginning memorial week end. Dan met us at the bulkhead and handled our lines like a pro. Only downfall is the train noise but we still slept well. Recommend this place to fellow loopers.

Very accommodating, 2016-05-16
Captain: , Alexandria Bay, NY (63)

Good facility. Deep water Docks. Helpful with docking. Price includes (good) power on new polls, unheard of down south! Showers & laundry. Restaurants within walking distance. Manager gave us his cell phone number and said call ANYTIME if we needed anything. Have stopped before and will again. Only regret, the on-site restaurant wasn't open for the season yet.

Mixed feeling about this stop, 2015-10-31
Captain: , Lake Champlain (220)

We spent a night here in 2015 and had a good experience, but we were travelling with 2 other boats. Yes, there is train noise, but it wasn't any worse than other stops along the canal. After a while you don't even notice it. The manager seems to be trying to make this situation work, and it is a work in process. As far as security is concerned, I did not feel unsafe. That being said, if I was the only boat here I would sleep with one eye open. Time has passed this town by, and the local neighborhoods do not look safe after dark. Local restaurants are a good walk away, and the only ones I found open were a take-out and a pool hall. Would I stay here again? I'm still not sure.

Pleasant stop-over, 2015-09-26
Captain: , Little River, SC (754)

A nice, clean marina. Easy access to long wall right off the canal. Nice onsite restaurant. Beautiful park setting. Downside - very busy railroad right behind marina. There is a catwalk over the tracks, but it's about 4 flights high. The elevator was broke when we were there. Across that is the town of Amsterdam - or at least the outskirsts of it. The ACE hdwe store is close by. Also a liquor store and Chinese restaurant.

Good Docks, Fair Value, 2015-09-16
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4307)

The docks, cleats, and power are all quality and in top condition. Secure place to spend a night. We were there on a Tuesday, so the restaurant at the docks was closed.
In comparison with other stops along the Erie Canal, Riverlink Park is disappointing for the price. Since the restaurant was closed, there was no one around to assist or give information until dusk. It is a far trek to anywhere and the town does not have much to offer. If you don't need power for a night's stay, we would recommend staying on a wall at lock 12 and use the money saved on dockage for a meal at another town.

Valiant effort by stuggling town, 2015-09-07
Captain: , St Paul, MN (180)

I grew up near Amsterdam and remember an attractive town. The town's leaders have created a very attractive waterfront park with good docks. Our 50 amp service worked just as it should. However other than the adjacent restaurant (closed when we stopped), it is a long unattractive walk into a town that looks sadly down on its heels. It would be a great help to boaters if there was some signage with a map and restaurants and other shops listed.
Dan (Dockmaster?) and nearby restaurant operator was helpful and friendly and seems to have the energy and enthusiasm to improve things.
I hope we can stop again in a year to see the progress.

Could be great, 2015-08-24
Captain: , Hilton Head, SC (1234)

With the nice floating docks and fendered wall, adjacent park and restaurant, this could be a gem of a stop. As mentioned below, the 30A AC service is wonky. I did not measure reverse polarity but there was 15VAC differential between neutral and ground. We unplugged immediately. Boater's showers I'd rate a 3/5 also, cigarette butts stuck in the electric heater, really?. Restaurant was a 4/5. Named a BBQ place but they had a broader menu. The BBQ was tasty, but I believe it was boiled and then grilled - not smoked as I expected. Friendly service, nice deck overlooking the river, the park and your boat.

Noisy trains - nice restaurant, 2015-08-15
Captain: , Naples, FL (682)

This is a convenient stop on the waterway with an easy approach and alongside at either the concrete wall (50A power) or the new floating docks (30A power). The concrete wall has robust built-in horizontal rubber fenders. The free pump-out is on the concrete wall.
Heads and showers are located at the rear of the restaurant and were in good shape for our visit. These facilities are for boaters and not for restaurant patrons or the public - a key is provided for 24 hr access. The restaurant is very good and convenient. Otherwise this is an isolated location being wedged between the noisy train lines and the river. Dan, the restaurant operator and dock manager, is a very engaging and helpful person.
For our visit all of the 30A pedestals on the floating dock had reverse polarity so we couldn%u2019t use shore power. We didn%u2019t bother moving to the wall to try 50A so it may have been functional. I reported it to the dock manager, who was very concerned but couldn%u2019t get anything done (it was Friday evening) until Monday. Apparently work was done on the shore power system during the week. As we were the first boat to use the docks in well over a week there is no telling how long the polarity has been reversed.

A Pleasant Stop, 2015-08-10
Captain: , Seneca Lake NY (313)

I agree w/ previous post +/-
We stayed here when restaurant was open and had a good meal and pleasant experience.
Also pumpout is available & free to transients.
Train noise is pretty much a given along the Mohawk - this one is particularly close by and must have several close by f=grade crossing as "whistle" noise was frequent & loud

Riverlink Park - Pros and Cons, 2015-08-09
Captain: , Pasadena, MD (1496)

I rated this facility a "3-star" because of its pros and cons. Pros are, the facility has a high wall with room for 6-8 boats, with power stantions, water and restrooms. There is a small floating dock with room for no more than two cruising-sized boats, first come, first served. There is a $1.00/ft charge for dockage, but unless the restaurant is open, there is no one to pay and there is no "honor box." The facility is in generally good repair, and the park setting is very pleasant. There is a small restroom in the restaurant building. The restauant is NOT available every day, and there are no signs that indicate when it is open. One assumes it may be available on weekends. As an overnight stay for boaters who plan to eat aboard, I would rate the stop higher. The cons. accessing the site by foor or by car is difficult. There is train noise here, as there is all along the Mohawk Valley. There is a long footbridge over railroad tracks that alows pedestrian access to town. There are both elevator and stairs to access the foot bridge. It is a significant walk to town, and restaurant options are limited. Gates on both ends of the footbridge can be locked, but there is no sinage that tell you what the open hours are. It would be extremely disconcerting to get back from dinner and find tthat bridge locked. Security here is also questionable. Although challenging for retirees, access is not a problem for local teens, as we have observed every time we have stayed here. The facility is quite remote, and if anything were to occur, you'd be "on your own" for quite a long time. There dose not appear to be routine police surveillance. Meeting visitors here is also difficult. Because of the railroad tracks and gates, it will not be possible to drive to the site without prior arrangement via the restaurant, which is, itself, not always available. Under ideal circumstances, this would be a fine stop, but boaters must weigh there needs and expectations more carefully than most places before deciding to stay here.

Best Cheeseburger in the USA, 2015-07-25
Captain: , Naples Florida (246)

Riverlink Park is a delightful stop - new floating docks and a long wall with great new buffers. $1/ft per night including electric. This facility has recent new management - don't read any old reviews.
Riverlink Marina / Riverlink Cafe / Dan's Backyard BBQ is all run by Dan who is also the chef. That's always a good sign. Had dinner there last night and a recommended cheeseburger today for lunch. This place is just the 'dog's bollocks' - an English slang term for exceptional.

A Must Stop, 2015-07-23
Captain: , Atlantic Coast (341)

Stayed two days to take a break and wash the boat. Dan is wonderful dock master/host and so is his BBQ restaurant. He is trying very hard to create a %u201Cmust stop%u201D location %u2013 offered ride to store, constantly checked to see if we needed anything, etc. Dan%u2019s BBQ has great BBQ which is also very reasonably price. We saw the increased security and felt safe even when we were the only boat there. Best water pressure of any location in 6 years of cruising the east coast from Maine to the Bahamas. Easy bicycle ride down an nice blacktop trail to simultaneous see the three stages of the Erie Canal. Tell Dan he needs to do a %u201Cdock and dine%u201D deal...

A message from the Mayor, 2015-07-15
Captain: , Amsterdam, NY (10)

I would like to take this opportunity to talk about docking at Riverlink Park. I have been actively involved in the construction and operation of this park for 15 years. In that time, we have built out a beautiful docking facility to accommodate your needs while traveling this magnificent Canalway, complete with pump out, water, electricity, restaurant, showers, laundry, Saturday night concerts and an extraordinarily pretty park that we are expanding via a new bridge connected to our southern shore by the Fall. Many, many folks in our city have worked hard to make your stay in our city warmly accommodating.

For these fifteen years, the city has provided safe harbor to thousands of boats. That being said, we had received news that a boat had been burglarized in the middle of the night. With that in mind, we are bettering our security at the park. We are installing two additional cameras dockside and will be increasing patrols overnight by our police force. We will also be building a fence on the east end of the park that will disallow access to the park. This is to ensure that our history of safe and dependable docking continues into the future.

Should you wish to meet with me and discuss your concerns or your thoughts so that we may make your experience in our city a better one, please contact me at 518 841-4311 or email me at Our Police Chief Greg Culick is also available at 518 842-1100. Or email him at Of course, please call 911 if your encounter an emergency situation.
We hope you will stop and enjoy your stay in the City of Amsterdam. Bon voyage!

Use Caution Here, 2015-07-14
Captain: , Eau Gallie, Florida (140)

I am posting this caution because of another boaters experience here. Around three am they were boarded by three individuals. They woke up and the three departed. They stole several small items and were apparently trying to remove a chart plotter at the time they were discovered on the boat. Apparently it is hard for the police to patrol here because of the locked gate. This happened around 7/6/15 or 7/7/15. I delayed posting this because I thought the boaters this happened to were going to post a caution. Just want to make everyone aware.

Great stopover, 2015-07-10
Captain: , Sarnia (371)

We stopped here for the night and found a new restaurant on site. Dan's Backyard BBQ opened in May and has liquore license. Great food. They also collect the $1/ft dockage fee and provide a key to access washroom, showers and laundry after hours. Staff are very friendly. Washrooms clean and laundry is shared with restaurant.

Great stop on the canal, 2015-06-28
Captain: , Falmouth, Maine (176)

We came in to get out of the rain and we were very glad we did. $1 a foot with water, electricity, and pumpout. Beautiful docks but the walls below the docks seem to be just as good.

Dans Backyard Barberque gave us the best prime rib north of Coinjock.

Good stop on the trip, 2015-06-17
Captain: , Boca Raton, FL (1522)

Stopped here when we were ready to stop for the night and didn't have a set destination. All Wall asisgnments. Great wall that changes heights at one point. Could use a few more Solid Smaller Cleats. One we tied to was held by 1 Lag. Good electric but in desparate need of more water outlets. We were almost 100 ft from the nearest one. The dock is run by the city but Dan who owns the BBQ restaurant/catering service collects the money and has the Restaurant. He as a Big tent there for Functions like Weddings. The restaurant used to be called "Riverlink Cafe" in Trip Advisor. It is a City Park and Dan took over the building and running the docks. Dans main business is Catering and i believe he is really good at it. There is one Shower, very big and nice, and 2 rest rooms inside and 2 outside. When the restaurant is closed, you need a key to get in and Dan will supply that. Maybe the only problem i could claim is the noise and that is not the marinas fault. It is on the train line and Freight Trains go by quite often and horns are honking. Inside the yacht, i didn't notice it much but when you travel the Hudson and Erie, you get use to them because they are always there. Note on the Restaurant... Our service ended up being real slow. Waitress was great but food slow to come. They felt bad and treated us to a free mountain of dessert. Scoops of different high end ice cream on a big Chocolate Chip Cookie covered with whipped cream. You would only get this at a high end Ice Cream Store. Really good!! So, i'm happy with waiting for our food and would eat there again, maybe hoping the food would be slow. My Spare Ribs were great.

Great Dock at fair price. , 2015-06-16
Captain: , Portsmouth,OH (50)

$1 per foot with free pump out, electric, water, showers, wifi and laundry. The laundry is 1 washer, 1 dryer shared with restaurant. If you dont mind the wait or folding table cloths and dishrags for the busy restaurant staff, I appreciated doing laundry for free. Met local police officers who welcomed us. Docks are under video surveillance. Dan, the owner, is a great guy. Would stay there again.

We cruised right on by the first try!!!, 2015-06-12
Captain: , East Greenwich RI (515)

It looked to good to be true.
However it is true--looks like an expensive Miami river front night club--but it's the Amsterdam Town Dock -for real. It must be the best kept secret on the Erie canal.
More to follow just arrived three hours ago still trying to beleive it.
OK -I checked out the heads and showers --they are only three star
simple -but clean and efficient. Laundry was sort of free--Jim gave us the coins for the machines--then he open the box and took em back! Good set up.
We will try the BBQ restruant for dinner --the menu look very traditional BBQ --will give it a try. I am not a fan of BBQ and this did not change my mind!! Have a hamburger that looked pretty good.

Train noise was not a problem for me but I'm 3/4 deaf but the trains went by all night and blew the whistle for a while as they went past.

beautiful park and great food, 2015-06-10
Captain: , Holland Michigan (60)

We arrived late afternoon on a Sunday and the BBQ restaurant was open and had great food. Facilities were ok

Riverlink Park and Dan's Back Yard BBQ, 2015-06-06
Captain: , Houston, TX (553)

Dan (owner of the BBQ restaurant) runs the dock now; call him at 518-320-4868. It is a very nice floating dock alongside; no deck hands but very easy to get into, and for $1/ft/night, including electricity, good WIFI, plus free laundry and nice showers, this is a good deal. Free concerts at the dock on Fridays and Saturdays during July and August. The restaurant has pretty good BBQ and is only feet from the dock. Pumpout is do-it-yourself, but easy to get to. The town is just across the RR tracks. And if you have not heard the trains by now, you obviously did not come up the Hudson River; all part of the ambiance.

rip-off on pumpout, 2015-05-28
Captain: , Milwaukee (10)

got charged $25 for pumpout we did ourselves, but he brought us a bag of ice "on him"

Great dock but tragic town, 2015-05-25
Captain: , New Castle, NH (80)

Excellent new docking facilities including floting docks and low and high walls. Thirty amp service where we docked, but there were two outlets on the same pedistal. The dockmaster wasn't available, so we didn't have access to the facilities. There is no reason to visit the dock. We did and walked around totally frustrated. There is a nice chineese take-out over the foot bridge and on the other side of the defunct shopping center.

Nothing but the BBQ restaurant, 2015-05-22
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1130)

Bob is no longer the dockmaster. Dan--the BBQer--now handles the payment collection. Don't expect VHF response or telephone voicemail message answering, either. Sad town, but the town dock itself is fine. No provisioning here.

nice clean stopover along the canal, 2014-10-06
Captain: , Bayou Bonfouca, LA- Great Loop Cruiser (708)

We pulled in along the wall just after 5:15pm. We just cleared the lock 10 last lift.
We walked across the bridge to the little Chinese restaurant. The food was good and the prices reasonable. We thought about walking west towards the post office and the little street but it was getting late, so we passed.
The trains run pretty regularly starting at 04:30. Otherwise, this would be a great stop over.

Nice Stop but Not Much to Do, 2014-09-09
Captain: , Avondale, PA (448)

We stopped for one night after Labor Day. Tied to medium wall and had good electrical service. One phone call got us the password for accessing showers and heads as well as the WiFi password. Would have liked to have eaten at the cafe but it was closed. There's lot of train noise but you can sleep through it. Didn't venture out of the park.

Clean and Reasonable, 2014-08-27
Captain: , Brewerton, NY (489)

Much improved since I passed by 6 years prior, with good floating, mid-height and high docking walls. Call after hours phone number for prompt response with lock box combination for rest room and shower access, and WiFi password. Nice grassed areas for walking the pup. (Please pick up after!) On-site restaurant not open while I was there so have yet to check that out. On return visit on 08/23/2014, found that pump out motor operated but would not create enough vacuum to achieve any flow from holding tank.

Good Dockage-Tragic Community, 2014-07-17
Captain: , Everett, Washington (824)

We spent one night in mid-July. The riverfront dockage is beautifully done and well maintained. Being mid-week, the restaurant was closed and the dockage payment and access to the good bathrooms and laundry facilities was an ingenious self-service system. We made the mistake of crossing the tracks to explore the community. It is poor, falling apart, shuttered and the busiinesses have been replaced by social service agencies and soup kitchens. Great place to stay the night but do not leave the riverfront park. No provisioning opportunties.

Enjoyed our stop, 2014-06-30
Captain: , Rochester NY (310)

We tied up on the floating dock where 30 amp power was available. There is 50amp available east of the floating dock along the 4' wall. very nice setting and the train noise really wasn't an issue. We had an enjoyable meal at the small restaurant located at the docks. $1.00 per foot charge for the night.

Great Stop on the Erie, 2014-06-29
Captain: , Little River, SC (476)

6/14/14 Made it up to the marina from lock 10 wall after the canal was closed due to heavy rain. Bob met us and helped us tie up in a heavy current due to high water. if you love trains, this is your stop. The resturant here at the marina is excellent. Good place to be for three days.

A very nice stop, 2014-06-22

What a pleasant place to stop for the evening. It was especially nice to be able to go to a restaurant on site, the Riverlink Cafe, which had excellent food. A bargain at $1/ foot.

Quality is about people., 2014-06-14
Captain: , Haddam, CT (10)

This is our second visit to Riverlink Park, once in 2012 and again in 2014. Not much in the way of services in town but the facilities (rest room, shower and laundry) are clean and modern. There is a variety of dockage including floating docks, low wall and high wall for large motor yachts though power 30/50a does not extend to the very end. In addition to electric, there's water and pumpout.

We can%u2019t say enough about the dedication and caring of the dock master Bob P. and his crew. They stood by late into the night, in the rain, during a flash flood and made sure each vessel was safe and secure as the river came close to breaching the wall. The next 2 days, with the river and locks closed, he made our prolonged stay pleasant and treated all like family.

The park also contains the Riverlink Café - casual outdoor dining and very good. The food is fresh, well prepared and the service and staff are terrific as well.

In all it%u2019s a great place to stop and a bargin at $1.00/ft. I highly recommend it.

Train Enthusiast Heaven, 2014-06-12
Captain: , Roswell, GA (467)

Upon arriving late afternoon we found trains past by approximately every 15 minutes. The tracks are less than 100 yards from the waterfront and each train signaled their passage with horn warning blasts. The traffic diminished into the evening of only a few and without horn warning signals. There is a Bottle Shop and Hardware Store across the tracks. The onsite concession was not open, it's early in the season. Restrooms, showers and laundry are all in excellent condition.

Captain: , Moyock, NC (1084)

No fuel, but on canal direct docking $1/ft. with free do it yourself electricity, water, and pump out. The food and view is excellent. There's a nearby downtown mall and post office. However, for any real shopping east on Route 30 a bus runs about every hour or you can take a prompt Checkered Taxi ($6 each way) for 2-3 miles to many stores, including a Walmart Superstore.

2014 Update, 2014-06-02
Captain: , Phoenix (580)

Arrived 6-1-2014 and Bob greeted us and helped with the lines. The cafe was not open for the season but will be on Wed. the 4th. Everything the same as the last report. Nice area and near to shoping. Nice little park. Some train noise.

End of season gem, 2013-10-07
Captain: , Rockport, ON, Canada (265)

I think they closed down on Labour Day. We arrived just after the locks closed for unscheduled repair, Oct 6th. Power was on, internet was on, self help pump out was on, water was on. Very secure and a nice spot. Good walls of different heights to suite. cheap taxi ride to Walmart, Price Chopper, Home Depot. Yes, trains are there but you get used to them very soon.

Nice spot but very close to train track, 2013-10-06
Captain: , Ottawa (1173)

We stopped here after they were already closed for the season, so we weren't able to take advantage of any of the services that they normally offer. It does look like a nice spot though, but be warned that you are right next to a level crossing so you'll be hearing trains blowing their horns most of the night. Probably not the best spot for light sleepers...

An excellent stop, 2013-09-23
Captain: , Wicomico Church (610)

Was surprised.. turned out to be a great stop.. no dockhands, but easy approach; clean bathrooms; a weekend restaraunt; a six dollar taxi ride to all the shopping you could want.

Wonderful family run operation, 2013-09-06
Captain: , Sarasota (1427)

As nice as any marina we can think of. Is part of city/private canal-side park facility. There are three levels of walls - 6 ft for megas, 3 ft for trawlers, and floating for lower level boats. Water pressure is still high. Overhead walkway over train tracks to get to town.
Restaurant has a real chef and the food is excellent. That said, it is an outdoor dining experience.

Dont Miss This Stop, 2013-08-17
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1394)

If there was ever was a stop with Cadillac amenities on the Erie Canal, this is it! We spent 9 days here and used it as a base to tour with our Enterprise Rental Car in Amsterdam taking day trips. Toured all the way to Rome N.Y. seeing all the tourist spots on both sides of the Erie and then some. Boat was very safe and secure at River Link Park. Enjoyed the concerts as well.
Georgous Facilities. Professional rubber fendering installed on concrete walls, with good size cleats and 50 amp power. All Brand New floating docks with 30 amp. Warning: Dock side water pressure is 140 PSI. We blew out a water hose as well as the rescue tape patch. I checked the pressure with a meter after that and also picked up a pressure reducer. The maint man also blew out a hose to pressure washer he used on concrete docks. Obtain Key from Restaruant for Boaters Only immaculate shower and restroom. Owners Bob Kirkham and Rena Gallup of the Riverlink Cafe run the docks as well. See Bob for special rate if you stay longer than 4 days. Every employee we met was sincere in their desire for you to have a nice stay. Cafe Menu quite impressive and outstanding! Definitely a destination stop on the Erie Canal. Didnt mind the trains at all. Gate at Park is locked at
10 P.M. and Amsterdam Police unlock the gate at the elevated stairs over RR Tracks and Highway at 8:00 A.M. and locked it at 10 P.M. Great Park lighting for good security.

Good Restaurant, clean facilities, 2013-07-28
Captain: , Freeport, ME (608)

The town owns the park and docks. Bob & Wendy are the concessionaires, and their focus is on the cafe. The food was excellent. That said, they welcome boaters, and the shower, heads, and laundry were spotless. The docks were as good as anywhere on the canal. Water was from a long hose, but power was spaced appropriately along the docks and wall.

A word of caution - the trains are very close to the other side of the cafe, and there is a grade crossing they whistle for. Didn't bother us, but some will find it annoying.

Nice Overnight Stop, 2013-07-23
Captain: , MV Red Head (3106)

We stopped here for an overnight stay. It was Sunday so the restaurant was closed but that was fine. Called the number listed in ActiveCaptain and on the sign at the docks and was helped by a very pleasant gentleman who gave detailed instructions for our stay. The grounds are very nice with plenty of room to let our canine crew stretch their legs. We stayed on the fixed "transitional" dock which provided 50 amp power while also letting us easily get the dogs off the boat. There's nothing really walking distance but we were informed that a taxis could take us to shopping ($6 each way) but we were not in need of anything so did not try it. This makes a nice overnight stop along the canal.

Riverlink Park, 2013-07-21
Captain: , Louisville, KY (80)

We arrived on Sunday about noon and found a beautiful, secure park with the best docks I have seen on the Erie so far. After a short period we were meet by Bob who was informative and helpful. Lots of 30 amps and great water pressure. Highly recommend

top notch stop! gourmet food, 2013-07-20
Captain: , Cleveland, OH (140)

Who would think of gourmet food while traveling west on the Erie Canal? This family run operation was a delight as well as a very nice city owned dockage for $1.00 a ft. The restaurant is only open Wednesday thru Saturday so plan accordingly. Our meals were excellent and we treated ourselves after a long day in the locks. It also featured burgers and hot dogs We were very impressed with how clean the showers were and how willing this family was to make our stay comfortable. Amsterdam is trying to revive the downtown and we were lucky to take part in the concert series just outside our boat in the park. Trains do pass close by but the other amenities make it a worthwhile stop.

Good Stop With Great Restaurant, 2013-06-14
Captain: , St. Clair, Michigan (456)

Only problem with Riverlink park is the proximity to the railroad tracks and the trains with the whistles. Lot of traffic around the clock and on the weekend.

Docks are in great shape and the electrical is well spaced to accomodate the boats. Access to water is not good at the west end of the dock but much better at the east end.

The building has the restaurant, showers, restroom and laundry facilities. All are first rate and kept very clean. They are boater use only.

Docks are managed by the restaurant and the people are very friendly and helpful with needs around town and where to get things and what is available.

We were here 1 night and went to the restuarant. All the seating is outdoors and it is open Wednesdays thru Saturday during the summer. The food was excellant and I would not hesitate to go there again.

Great Dock, 2013-04-06
Captain: , Mimico Cruising Club ON Canada (1210)

We stayed here on our eastbound trip from Toronto to New York City in August 2012. We were the only boat there and the staf was very friendly. They said that the boat traffic was light this year.

While there we enjoyed a country & western concert at the band stand beside the docks. We took a walk over the railway overpass to the town, but everything closes early.

In the morning we used the self-serve pump out.

The restaurant at the park is closed after Labor Day. However, a great stop with clean showers and toilets. Access to facilities via a key. Just call the number listed on Active Captain. Highly recommended

Great place to dock for a day or two!, 2012-09-16
Captain: , Bear DE (694)

Stayed here and was surprised of all the help with docking (even it was not needed). The price includes the power 50 or 30 Amp. Great People - family run buisiness. The Docks are great and the restrooms and shower are clean. There is also a laundry. Would stay here again - even if you have the noise from the trains it's a great and welcoming place

Quiet stop, nice new dock, 2012-09-11
Captain: , Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (366)

Stay here for 2 nights, very quiet. Got here late at night so our key for the washrooms was left with a friend who arrived before us. Left
money in an envelope for dockage. Clean facilities, fast internet but far walk to stores.

Excellent stop! Has all you need, food, showers, laundry, great staff, and easy access. Don't forget Emmy Lou's Diner with home cooking located behind the Post Office just a short walk away

Very nice. Great transient wall, 2012-07-01
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1850)

If there is such a thing as a great wall to tie up to, this would be it. All the previous reviews are correct. The restaurant is very nice. Good steak and shrimp special. Good electric. Didn't get into town. The only, and I mean the only, downside is the seemingly constant sound of the frequent trains passing nearby.

Superb Restaurant, Professional Dockmaster, 2012-06-27
Captain: , Occoquan, VA (456)

Came in with 30 knot winds on the port bow and started to approach the high wall. The dockmaster came running up to the boat and did a most professional job assisting with lines and fenders.
When we travel, we seldom dine off the boat. Too many mediocre restaurants and too high prices. We thought we would try The Riverlink Cafe because the menu was intriguing. This was one of the best restaurants ever to be found on the waterways. Not cheap, but very high quality, innovative, and excellent service. Don't miss the to-die-for deserts.

Good stop, Town needs help, 2012-06-15
Captain: , Savannah (128)

Spent the night 6-14-12 at the park wall with 2 other boats. Power was good but we did not have a water connection. Cost was $1.00/ft. incl. electric. Got access to showers, toilets and laundry in the restaurant which were very clean and in very good condition and above average. The restaurant was superb. The wine was outstanding and the service was excellent. I really enjoyed the stop. Not much to do in town as it appears depressed, but that's not why we came. We might have stayed another day if we had discovered something else to do in the area. Waterfront was 5 star. The town was 1 star.

Free Dock, No Power, 2012-05-24
Captain: , Guntersville, AL (451)

The owner allowed use to stay on the floating dock for no charge. Water was turned off except at the pump out station. Pump out device had power but could not develop sufficient suction. Power stands have not been replaced, wires just sticking out of the ground. Only merchant close was True Value Hardware and post office. Trains very close by.

Dockmaster, 2012-02-04
Captain: , Amsterdam (17)

We are keeping the price at 1.00 a foot for 2012. The park has been updated with new walking paths, large deck for dinning , new lighting, new washing and dryer machines. We will also be open for dinner on Wed nights this year. Looking forward to meeting all the great boaters.

Riverlink Park, 2011-09-05
Captain: , Lake in The Hills, Illinois (542)

We arrived during the week and the owner was not there. When we called he gave us a code to get a bathroom key and requested we leave the slip fee in a mailbox inside the shower room. The town is very depressed and not much available nearby. The Trains were very loud until about 10:00 pm. If you don't need supplies not a bad stop

Nice stop at Amsterdam, 2011-08-15
Captain: , Central Illinois (537)

Has Electric, Water, and Pumpout for $1 per foot. Good docks. We were there on Saturday so dockmaster was quick to help. Lots of activiity on Saturday night. Easy walk to town 10 minutes. Trains loud, but other spots along the Erie had even more trains.

Inconceivable, 2011-07-20
Captain: , Richmond VA (281)

hard to add much to this stop that hasn't already been said. I didn't leave the property but did some dingy rides to the island to the east. We found a water fall and some wild life (red snake). Wish it had water!

Riverlink Park city dock, 2011-07-04
Captain: , Hampton, VA (389)

We arrived on a Monday evening. No one was here to help dock. A phone call had to be made to allert the dockmaster that we were here. He did not want to come down until he found out 5 boats pulled up. He did drive a fellow boater to a convenience store to pick up a few items. The laundry was a $1.00 per load. The cafe is open Thursday through Sunday only. The trains are close by.

nice setting, 2011-06-29

trains very loud, nice showers , laundry only $1 each price includes pumpout water, electric..... a buck a foot

Great Stop, Terrific Treatment, 2011-06-16
Captain: , Hilton Head, SC (30)

The owner met us at the docks to help with our lines after a long day of locking up the Erie Canal. He couldn't have been any more pleasant or helpful. The docks are in wonderful shape and the grounds are well-kept up. It's a good place to walk the dog. We had dinner at the Cafe and the food was 1st class. The trains are there, but not a problem. True Value Hardware store is just a short walk. We felt so welcome here, and for $1/ft., including electricity, we can definitely recommend it and will return.

Nice Facilities - Very clean - Nice park by River, 2011-06-15
Captain: , Cleveland (2083)

Nice facilities and everything but you are pretty much on your own as management is not on premises. A key was needed for shower/laundry but we weren't able to get a key until about 5 pm. One boat that stayed had called ahead and were able to have a key left for them so maybe that is the thing to do.

Hardware store, chinese restaurant across the tracks (via the elevator/stairs walkway) as well as a Stewart's (convenience and ice cream). Wal Mart supercenter is a $6 cab ride away.

Lovely but Lonely, 2011-06-02
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Perfect stop after locking through from Waterford. Park is beautiful, but we were all alone in a locked area. An overpass walkway leads into the park from a parking lot. Stewart's is within walking distance. We had 50 amp included with $1/foot.

City owned floating docks were pulled temporarily due to closed locks but concrete walls have rubber bumpers attached so protection is good. This would be a pleasant dockage if other boaters stopped & and restaurant opened. Restaurant imay be opening for summer season next week.

One of the restaurant owners stopped by to check on us & drove us to Stewart's for groceries. Will stop again when restaurant opened

Amsterdam on the Wall, 2010-09-26
Captain: , Williamsburg, VA (745)

We have stopped here several times over the years. Both east and west bound this summer. The restaurant is open very infrequently. Not many folks want to cross the RR tracks to come here. That said you can cross the tracks on the overhead bridge into town. Good shopping. Some local restaurants will pick you up. The restrooms, laundry and grounds are very clean. It can get a bit noisy with all the train traffic but, you get used to it. Again, a good place to stop after a long, hard on the Erie Canal.

Riverlink Park, 2010-09-07
Captain: , Geneva, NY (70)

Stopped here for 2 days due to high winds. Restaurant already closed (Labor Day Weekend). Grounds nice, restroom/shower/laundry facilities quite nice. However, somewhat isolated and yes, close to railroad tracks. Provides a nice stop.

We like it., 2010-06-14
Captain: , Palm Coast (792)

From the wall to the floating docks you have choices. The first power box on the wall offers 50 amp service. The grounds are well kept. The cost is only $1 a foot. Water and pump out also on site.

The nearby (really, really, really close) railroad tracks aren't so bad but the fact that every train sounds its whistle when passing is annoying. The town has not shared in any recent prosperity.

On both trips through the Erie Canal, this stop has always been a welcome relief in just the right place.

Riverlink Park, 2009-08-30
Captain: , Patterson, La (1441)

Great tie up, steel and concrete bulkhead and first class rubber fender system.
Not close to anything except the restaurant on the property, if it is open.
LONG walk up hill to a Stewarts shop (convenience store and Ice Cream ). I would not do the walk after dark,
50 amp electricity no water.
Nicely kept grounds.

Great stop, 2009-08-29
Captain: , sarasota (10)

The owner/chef of the cafe called us ahead of our docking (knew we were coming because Marinalife called ahead) and welcomed us with great service. Dinner was wonderful and we would recommend this stop without reservations. The new owner is looking to please and anxious for transients. Nice place to break the trip.

Pluses and minuses, 2009-08-11
Captain: , Stuart FL Middletown RI (240)

When we stopped at the Riverlink Marina, the restaurant was just about to repoen after being shut down for a year or two. The docks are fine, although the pumpout facility was out of operation. The restaurant had nice restrooms/shower facilities, but if the restaurant closes again that will not be the case. There is a walkway over the railroad tracks to Amsterdam, but we found Amsterdam to be very run down and even a little threatening as we walked around. The railroad tracks are close to the marina and generate a lot of noise all night.

Overall, Riverlink would be a good stop if the restaurant is open, but I might be uneasy stoppping there if the restaurant is closed up.

Riverlink Park, 2009-08-03
Captain: , Clear Lake, TX (694)

2 dice showers, bathrooms & laundry facilities. Restauarant (that collects the money) right there but town services ar minimal. Nice grounds. 30amp, water and pump out. $1.00/Ft.

Beautiful, 2009-06-25
Captain: , Lewes, DE (2521)

This town dock is part of a new riverfront improvement project that is beautifully landscaped with access to the town and with a restaurant right next door that collects the dockage fee. Very friendly and quiet.
