There are 2 docks here, The River Street Dock and the River Street Market Dock. The Market dock is next to the River Street Market. The River Street dock is next to the parking lot just west of the River Street Market Dock. It is confusing. The same guy manages both docks. His name is Chas and his number is 912-398-6056.

Reviews for River Street Market Place Dock
Exposed to wakes, no toilets., 2017-05-05
Captain: , Baltimore (181)

This marina has a great location, right on the river walk next to several good restaurants and some nice shops. The large ships will rock the boat, and the current is quite strong, but parallel to the dock. For the fee they charge, it was quite a dissapointment to be told to use the bathroom (no shower) in the Five and Dime. It is still unclear when or whether the City Marina will reopen.

We love Savannah, 2017-02-02
Captain: , Fanning Island, FL (248)

The thing you must do is AVOID it during peak tourist times. We decided to have New Years eve downtown in 2016! We were so excited. This marina does not have any services but the location is prime real estate. We always have our bikes so getting around town is easy. The disappointing news was the City post poned the fire works display due to a weather report of inclement weather. However the weather never happened and neither did the fire works. We were told they rescheduled 3 days later but we were no longer there and heading south!

Do not, I repeat DO NOT go here!, 2016-11-25
Captain: , Edgewater, MD (90)

Everything is wrong with this place. No one in charge. The cost is higher than anywhere else on the ICW. There are no bathrooms or showers. you are exposed to pounding wake from vessels of all sizes all day and all night. They do not want visiting boats and do everything they can to discourage your visit. The docks are a wreck from the hurricane. worst of all, if you go ashore you are exposed to one of the worst examples of tourist Hells in all of America. Horrible tourist traps surround you. it's inescapable! Nauseating. Savannah was once a nice quiet historic town. Now it's Atlantic City with less tasteful shops. There is one nice dockhand, however.

This is an expensive dock for the services rendered but it's all about location. The positives are: nice cement floating dock, water, electric (not extra $), only 2 other boats. As we said location! We were in the center of Savannah. We did a bike tour of the city and through that we learned the history of the city but more importantly, places to eat. For this tidbit of information you will be so happy if you take our advice and dine in the tavern in the basement at The Olde Pink House. The atmosphere was wonderful. We were told we should make reservations but we showed up relatively early and sat at the bar. The food was fabulous and the bartender bent over backwards to make sure we had an enjoyable meal. We were treated to fireworks just across the river and many an awe inspiring tanker passed with one large blast from their horn announcing their departure or arrival. One passed at 2 in the morning but we didn't mind. We jump out of bed to see the spectacular 994ft tanker pass by and pass by and pass by! The negatives are: cost is $2.75/ft., no marina staff to assist with lines, no bathrooms, showers, laundry, large wakes from tankers and ferries (however with fenders hung extremely low and boat tied tight presented no problem). In the middle of the night we were awakened by a log that got wedged under our swim platform. Other logs and debris were found trapped between the boat and the dock in the morning. Despite the negatives, we couldn't be happier with our stay and can't wait to come back!

Great Savannah access; no amenities, 2015-11-04
Captain: , Fort Pierce City Marina, FL (460)

We spent several nights here, including Halloween night. No bathroom, no laundry and no groceries. However, the access to Savannah is wonderful and worth the price. Due to very high cargo ship, ferry and sightseeing boat traffic, it is rolly but better than the city docks.

3 days is hardly enough to see this wonderful city. Halloween night was lots of fun. Everyone here dresses up. It is safe walking around all of downtown.

Great location, 2015-11-04
Captain: , Laguna Beach, CA (20)

but that's about it. This is a dock only. Power and water. No showers, no WiFi. Walk to old town: wonderful! Parker Market now has little but prepared food. Some wakes, but we saw the old city and enjoyed it. Good for a day in town.

Beware of the Savannah River, 2015-10-27
Captain: , Savannah, GA (330)

I had my 50th high school reunion in downtown Savannah in June and took our Jefferson 46' and docked on River Street for 3 nights.
The docks are concrete with shore power and water. Dockage is $2.75 per foot, shore power included. Great location for touring historic Savannah. We problem is the river itself. During our stay we encountered floating timbers, trash, and even a large dead fish. All of these items were lodged between our boat and the dock. Very swift current. A very commerical river. Ships, ferries and tug boats 24/7.
Pleasure boats do not adhere to the 5 mph speed limit in this area. Wakes are common. Dock 4 Stars. River 1 Star.

market is near, 2014-04-13
Captain: , Panama City, FL (645)

Up Drayton street at 222 is Parker Market a 24 hour super store with wonderful deli, milk, fruit and great stock of basics. Also on Bull about Broughton is a CVS with basics including eggs, milk cheese etc.

poor choice, 2013-11-27
Captain: , Wiscasset, Maine (290)

We stayed two nights, never saw a dock master. Boat was damaged docking and departing. Had to climb over locked gate because latch was faulty. Strong wake from passing boats can throw garbage from the mats of floating debris into your boat.

Great Location, 2013-07-24
Captain: , Charleston, SC (20)

23-24 July 2013 Capt G Haliscak, Ruffinit, 39' Cruisers 4050 MY. Called ahead to get Chaz on the phone. He had help arrive to catch lines. Water & 50 Amp Pwr good. Expect strong currents. We were the only boat here for two days. Walking distance to best areas of Savannah. River traffic no problem. Calm in the evening. Great areas for pets nearby. Five star location without all of the usual marina amenities. Staff friendly & helpful. Power/water is all we needed.

Good location good service , 2013-05-31
Captain: , Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (40)

Dock master is a very good guy
WiFi is weak and not consistent. I had to be in fly bridge to get any signal
Location is grate. But not for someone who wants to do work on the boat, this is a dock facility only not a marina.
Car parking is available, lots of good food around
After using other docks on the river, this is the place to be. Solely because of how grate the dock master was.

Power Problems, 2013-04-30
Captain: , Stuart, FL (1019)

Chazz was on the dock when we arrived and was helpful in tying up our boat. Downtown location is the best. No other services. Security is minimal but seems adequate.

Could not plug in our 50 amp cord. Got a Reverse Polarity fault. Never happened to us before. No power for us. Chazz knocked the rate down from $2.75 to $2.00.

The river runs very fast and has lots of trash in it. Huge ships and tugs move up and down the river at all hours.

However, it is a primo location for sightseeing and touring Savannah.

Where the action is, 2013-04-13
Captain: , Lighthouse Point, FL (227)

Phil in the review below covered most everything. I will add rather than repeat. No bathrooms, no showers, no Internet. Chasz is only there when you are coming or leaving, BUT you are right in the city and it is a FUN and interesting city. We also felt very safe there. So, this location is strictly a matter of taste.

Also, we got a great boat wash here from Billy Gartside of Waterline Up. He also covers the Thunderbolt and Isle of Hope areas. 912-844-1804

Sunday March 31 2013 Stop, 2013-04-03
Captain: , Colonial Beach, VA (650)

We love this place because you are right on Front Street in Savannah, where the action is. We don't mind the negatives that you put up with to be there that include: some wakes during he day and during the night when large ships travel by the floating dock. Price was $2.75 per foot, all incudsive. Chasz the person on the phone was very helpful and avail on the pier to help tie up. So it really depends on what is important whether you would opt for this option vice staying at Isle of Hope or Thunderbolt, both quiet places with easy access to downtown Savannah.

Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

While the attendant who checked us in was not skilled at handling lines, he was courteous and helpful getting us settled in. This location has no amenities but is the best place to literally walk into historic Savannah. Shopping, restaurants and the tour stop are all within feet of the dock. Also entertaining were the huge container ships that make their way up the river only 200 feet away from you. They are a sight to behold. Savannah is a must do on your waterway trip and this marina puts you right in the middle of it.

Mixed Bag, may return, 2012-11-24
Captain: , Somers Point (460)

The pros for this place: great location to walk the city, good docks, good dock master and good security.

The cons: noisy, lots of wave action, no privacy (anyone can stand there and stare at you).

good spot to see Savannah, 2012-03-28
Captain: , wickford, R.I. (222)

great access to the city from here, friendly and capable staff, only water and power though.

Just a Dock, no more!, 2011-11-24
Captain: , City Island New York (600)

Stayed here 2 nights, we were barely met, not expected (although we had called) and did not see anyone in charge of the dock, which was grubby and just beneath the tacky market, for the rest of the stay. We did have electric and water but that was as good AS IT GOT! The upside was seeing HUGE cargo boats arriving and leaving this busy port, within feet of us, day and night. There is a lot of water traffic here so quiet bouncy but it did not bother us. Easy walk into town which was another plus. Good to do this ONCE if you want to visit the town.

Handy for the town, 2011-11-15
Captain: , PooleUK (1023)

We were met upon arrival and assisted alongside, the dock makes for a great spot to watch the ships heading upstream to the commercial port. Watch that you do not get too much debris trapped between your vessel and the dock, we had a few filters blocked and a rather large log jammed into the starboard stabi.
Lovely town. Shame about the WIFI.

Perfectly Located, 2011-06-21
Captain: , Baddeck, Nova Scotia (160)

The River Street Marketplace Docks lack any amenities except dockage and WiFi but given their location what else is needed. You don't go up to Savannah for swiming pools and ships stores. THe historic district starts at the docks edge, great bars and restruants are a stagger away and the dockmaster can point you towards any other service you require. There is a fair bit of current and plenty of commercial traffic but nothing that will concern any competant captain

Good location, 2011-06-16
Captain: , Newport Beach, CA (100)

Great location, good 50 amp, couldn't get the dock wyfi but did pick up the Westen's. Water was shut off for no apperant reason. We were leaving so didn't ask why.

City Docks are less....., 2010-05-14
Captain: , Melbourne Florida (4616)

Guess if the City Docks are full it is the next best thing.

Best stop in SAV!, 2009-11-02
Captain: , Miami, fl (3666)

helpful and friendly dock master, terrific location in the heart of the historic district. My favorite stop on the ICW... good shore power.

yes, it's on the busy Savannah River but the wakes aren't bad at all.

In the Middle of Action, 2009-05-31
Captain: , clear lake texas (435)

The docks are floating and in good shape. The river has a strong current on out going tide. Lots of boat traffic and can get rolly but calms down at night. This facility is on River Street which is full of shops, bars and resturants. You can get on a tour bus and see Savannah or walk the river front for entertainment. $2.50/ft included electric and water, the extra cost was less then a cab from Thunderbolt.
