Reviews for River Marsh Marina
Good stay, 2017-08-12
Captain: , Baltimore (80)

Overall, we had a fine stay here - the docks are in good shape, the resort is nice, and there's a little shop with ice and essentials. I don't think the bathroom facilities were quite up to what I'd expect at a "resort" marina though, and the dockhands were terrific - but there weren't nearly enough of them to handle the number of boats/transients there. It's also a little far from town and I was disappointed there wasn't a shuttle or anything - we were lucky and met a friendly neighbor who gave us a lift and we caught a local taxi back.

Fantastic Resort Marina, 2017-07-24
Captain: , Herrington Harbour, MD (230)

This marina is a gem. Jason and his team go to any length to take care of every need for guests at the marina. The marina facilities and adjoining Hyatt Resort provide the perfect combination of amenities and recreation for families. With multiple trips over the past month involving groups of school aged kids and then families, we were continuously impressed with the service of the marina staff, the hotel staff, maintenance team, etc. The restaurants are great, the pools and entertainment are first class. This resort is always a top pick among family and friends for cruising visits.

Very nice spot!, 2017-05-27
Captain: , Annapolis (170)

Spent two nights here in late May. It was pricey but you get to use all of the amenities at the Hyatt. Nice spa!

Staying put for the summer., 2016-06-17
Captain: , Cambridge, MD (170)

This is now our third season at River Marsh Marina. We love this place and our hosts, Jason, Drew, Alex are always friendly and helpful. This is a very dog friendly place with treats for your four legged friends. Being a slip holder has extra benefits, like 25% discount at the resturants, free power and pumpouts. It is always fun to have a lot of weekend boaters take advantage of the great facilities and resturants on campus. We haven't found any other place on the Bay that compares.

Management response:
Thank You for the review. We value you as a slip holder and welcome you year after year. Enjoy the summer.

Great Staff - Access to Amazing Facility, 2016-06-01
Captain: , Annapolis (127)

It was a toss-up between 4 and 5 stars. The resort is definitely 5, but the marina is not quite kept to the same standard.

Arrival was easy - they monitor 9 and 72 and responded immediately. Drew, the dock hand, was oustanding in getting us situated in the slip (and helping with fuel the next day). Most of the main slips are fixed while some on the outside are floating. Overall, the marina was fairly quiet.

Check-in is a short walk to the office which is in a building with the heads, showers, laundry, small ships store, and restaurant above. I found the additional $32/night for power and "resort fee" a bit much, but not a deal breaker. The heads/showers are well below par for the rest of the facility. Everything is cinder block and poorly lit, so you feel like you're in a bad prison movie.

The resort itself is a short walk down a trail and truly an amazing facility. Three pools, a beach, miniature golf, regular golf, frisbee golf, a movie night, s'mores roast, etc. There are plenty of towels, seats, and servers to tend to everyone.

I found the staff at the resort and marina to be particularly helpful. We had to check-out a day early to try and beat some weather, and while they could have stuck us with the bill for that last night, they graciously refunded our money.

Overall, a fantastic place and one to which we'll return.

Management response:
Thank You for the feedback and we will be sure to address them with management. We look forward to your next visit.

Hyatt River Marsh, 2015-09-08
Captain: , New England (20)

We visited the Marina during a holiday weekend and the dock hands were not prepaired to handle the amount of boats joining for the weekend. There straight dock where they put the larger vessels is in poor condition with few cleats left to attach lines and the wifi is weak. The resort part has nice pools and caters well to families but also seemed short staffed, i went to speak with the concierge at 5pm one evening and they had already left for the day. Would have expected more from a Hyatt!

Great Location, 2015-08-28
Captain: , Blackstone Marina, MD (50)

The staff at the marina are great and serviceable. The ammenities are great, pool, showers, golf course etc. The only reason it doesnt get 5 stars is bc the marina is exposed to south winds and the docks get choppy other than that great clean location.

Great Mid-Week Escape, 2015-08-08
Captain: , Sue Island, Maryland (131)

Just spent 3 nights for the price of 2. The marina was deserted Tuesday to Friday. Perhaps it's the additional $21 per night "Resort Fee" that turns off boaters. We enjoyed the pools and ate at the Blue Point Provision 2 nights where the food & service was excellent. Dock hand did a great job upon arrival and the free pump-out was very efficient. It's a long walk from the boat to the pools, but carts were available to transport us. Overall, a first class place to visit. Returned in Aug 2016. Very empty during the week 100 vaacancies. WiFi was very poor. Dock hands excellent with slip assignment and pump out.

Return Visit, 2015-07-19
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (986)

Very efficient docklands. Facilities are wonderful. Only issue we experienced was a very weak WIFI signal on C Dock around C134.

Hyatt River Marsh, 2015-07-17
Captain: , Bear Cr,MD (145)

i'm giving the marina 3 stars because of the following: when we checked in we were not given a site map, brochure of what was available at the resort, nothing. We discovered everything on our own. The marina restroom facilities were semi clean, trash was overflowing from the recepticles. Not what one would expect from Hyatt. The main resort was great, with a number of restrurants, pools and a great view of the river.

Great Resort!, 2014-06-30
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (502)

Everything you'd expect from Hyatt.

Dockhand Drew the best we have had in our short time boating.

Restaurant at the marina was superb. We know good crab cakes and these were with the best we've had. Oysters and rockfish were fine too. Waiter Ekram from Turkey was very professional and friendly.

Bath house facility A+++ but was a bit of a hike.

Only negative was that we received no wifi signal.

Great pools, 2014-06-08
Captain: , Virginia (60)

Like others have said this place is outstanding. Good per/ft rate and even with the resort fee it's still worth it. We've gone twice this summer already and will probably go back again.

Spa on the Bay, 2013-08-20
Captain: , Philadelphia (90)

This is one of the greatest locations on the Choptank River, with great rates and accomodations. superbstaff and amenities. Great food in town nearby and worth a couple of days stay.

Excellent, First Class Marina, 2013-07-09
Captain: , Occoquan, VA (400)

Great marina, with access to all the Hyatt amenities. Dock hands VERY helpful and willing to do all tie-ups, power hook-up, etc. Stayed over 4th of July and able to see fireworks from town easily from boat bo. BL: highly recommended.

Quick weekend getaway, 2013-06-30
Captain: , Herrington Harbour South, MD (212)

A nice spot to visit from the Bay, especially if you play golf. The dockage rates are a deal -- $1.50/foot plus $25 resort fee and $15 for 50 amp electric. When we visited (6/29/2013) the marina was mostly vacant so slip availability does not appear to be a problem. The fixed docks are getting dated and we had intermittent problems with the 50 amp shorepower connection, but the service was efficient and courteous. Good wifi connectivity. The golf course is accessible and in excellent condition.

New Rates at Marina, 2013-03-28
Captain: , Bay Hill Marina, Athens, AL (121)

New rates for the summer are $1.50/ft seven days a week! Holidays are still $3/ft. The marina still offers a package for two nights and get the third night free along with a pump out, an eight-pound bag of ice and 10-percent off green fees. I assume the resort fee is still charged.

Much better than most, but pricey , 2013-01-12
Captain: , Browns Cove, MD (402)

I make this a regular stop at least once each season. The marina is well maintained as are the marina facilities. There's also a decent restaurant right at the marina. As others have said, it is a hike to the hotel & pool, but we had an elderly person with us and the hotel sent a shuttle for us which was very nice. The pool setting is amazing and the views of this beautiful river are terrific. Yes, sea nettles in summer can be an issue and yes it is resort pricing but you do get great service and it is very well run. I would give 5 stars but downsides are exposure to wind in the marina and prices.

Very well-run marina with good facilities, 2012-09-16
Captain: , Londontowne, MD (470)

One of the few places where the dock hands have a very good handle on how docking works. The mid-week stay-2-get-3rd-night-free package is a great deal, and in fact we wouldn't usually stay here otherwise, since weekend and holidays rates are so high. Most of the docks are fixed, 4-way tie-ups, but the "catwalk" which ties the fixed docks together offers a side tie-up and room for longer vessels, as does the single floating dock. We heard there were about 120 boats in the marina over Labor Day weekend (2012) but when we arrived on the Tuesday after Labor Day... there were only about 15 boats present (but the hotel pool was still open!). Road noise from US-50 can be noticeable in the early mornings. The hotel facilities are a bit of a hike, so bicycles are useful... or the staff will shuttle folks around in the golf carts. The hotel's outdoor infinity pool is serviced by the bar, so umbrella drinks while actually in the pool are common; there's also an indoor pool, children's pool, indoor and outdoor spas, etc. Of the restaurants, we've found great burgers at the golf course clubhouse, decent seafood and even steaks at the marina restaurant, and then it varies between good food/good service and OK food at high prices with indifferent service in the hotel restaurant. Downtown Cambridge is worth a look, and back in 2011 there were at least three good restaurants in town that we sampled.

Great for the kids!, 2012-09-14
Captain: , Rock Hall, MD (250)

This is my kids' favorite place to go! Fun pools, slides, hot tubs, smores cooking at night, decent resturants, mini-golf, tennis... Lots to do, including lounge by the pool and do nothing!

Excellent weekend resort, 2012-09-05
Captain: , Annapolis MD (70)

Stayed here over the Labor Day weekend. It was fairly pricey and was pretty crowded, but we got our slip assigned quickly. Very helpful dockhands and marina staff were very friendly. Bit of a walk to the pool but it is big with an adults only and kids area. Excellent restaurant and great gas price at the fuel dock when leaving. Will return for a weekend resort stay in the future.

A beautiful place to visit, but not perfect, 2012-07-26
Captain: , bear, de (364)

A gem of a resort. One of the nicest outdoor facilities we have seen! Amazing indoor and outdoor pools, beach volleyball, tennis courts, mini golf, disc golf. Resort fee is a bit steep, but buy 3 nights get one free makes it better. 50 amp power was quite weak, low voltage and lots of weak breakers. Seems to be a known problem. A resort fee or power charge would be reasonable, to have both is excessive! Still a nice place.

Nice Place to visit, 2012-07-16
Captain: , Aventura, Florida (330)

The dock cause of our size was a floating dock which is nice. The Staff did a nice job. They only had 50 amp power but had 4 of them at our disposal. There is a shopping center across the street from the resort. The pool and resturants were very nice.

Relaxing place, 2011-09-23
Captain: , Josephine Alabama (183)

Docks are good, staff is very helpfull, and the area is great for pets. It's an easy $5/$10 cab ride to town.Stay 2 nights and get the third free, which equals what you would pay at Cambridge Muni.Would stay here any time.Diesel 3.94

Beautiful Facility, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Newark, DE (259)

Beautiful facility and, as a guest slipholder, you get use of all of the hotel's facilities. Nicest pool around. Good food, but it's at hotel prices. Jellyfish can be horrible in the warmer months so be prepared to empty your AC strainers at least once a day.

Agree with other posts - very nice place, 2010-09-17
Captain: , Chesapeake Bay MD (495)

We have small runabout and dock here have lunch and drinks and enjoy pools for a day. Rooms are expensive.
Food is average and drinks are reosrt style/price.

Great place- Exposed to T-Storms!, 2010-04-27
Captain: , Sassafras River, MD (137)

Agree with all the other comments. It is a fabulous place with kids. The "marina scene" is pretty much a dock party. Traditional marina land-side facilities (i.e. picninc area) are limited, but the hotel is stacked. It is a long walk to the hotel, we bring our dinghy. Biggest concern here is that the marina is essentially in the Choptank River. It is welll protected from traditional fair weather SW breeze, but if you get a thunderstorm or NW breeze, be preapred to be rocked. There is a minimum five mile fetch to the NW and it can get really crazy in there. Slips are nice and wide so you can center you boat out of harms way, but be wary if you have crew who get seasick!

Fun for the entire family!!, 2008-12-09
Captain: , Sassafras River (37)

We have traveled here several times, and always have enjoyed ourselves. However, we have experienced on more then one occassion poor docking instructions for slip assignment not only with us but with other boats coming into the marina also. On our first visit to the marina we lost an engine coming under the Rt 50 bridge, and tried for several minutes to hail the marina, with no luck, fortunately we were traveling with another couple who was already docked, and they directed us in. But this is a beautiful marina, everyone is friendly, and the adults have as much fun in the (3!!) pools as the children.

Great destination, 2008-09-15
Captain: , baltimore, md (106)

Very helpfull staff. Dockage is pricy @ $3.25/ft but cheap when considering this entitle you to all the resort facilties that would cost $450/night if staying at eh resort.

Use The Hotel, 2007-10-16
Captain: , annapolis (183)

The hotel is what makes this place special. Rooms are pricey, but slip fee includes us of some facilities, which are amazing. Indoor and outdoor pools, movies for children, large outdoor fireplace, etc. Navigating in could be easier. The channel is not particularly well marked, and the harbor can be shallow (in the 5 foot range) at low tides. Older char cards may not have the facility marked at all. But thestaff is very responsive, when hailed and on the docks. In the summer, expect it to be busy.

One of the nicest Marinas, 2007-07-06
Captain: , Annapolis (160)

This is one of the nicest marina's I've seen by land or water.. It's part of the Hyatt Resort and you have access to the entire facility. Multiple restaurants, golf courses, 3 pools, you can go on and on.. I'd say the ONLY real negative is that you can get some pretty nasty bug bites there during mid summer. So keep the screens up or the A/C on. Oh, there is also some carts that come by the dock house on a schedule to take you to the other parts of the facilities, and at the hotel there is a shuttle which goes into town as well. Really nice!!
