Reviews for River City Marina
Must me a mirage, 2016-05-05
Captain: , Cape Canaveral (1101)

Called several times - no answer. Left message - no return call. Over the course of two days walked across the Main Street Bridge three times from Jacksonville Landing face dock - no one there. Decided not to waste my time further and went instead to Ortega Landing Marina. Excellent value. Try it, you'll like it.

No answer by phone or radio, 2015-01-02
Captain: , Trenton ON (668)

Tried to call this marina on Vhf and by phone.
Left messages never heard back.
Unfortunate.

Good lunch stop, 2013-10-11
Captain: , Louisiana (514)

Wasn't sure of the status of this place, since no reviews had been written recently. Called dockmaster Lee ahead of time & decided to stop on 10/9/2013 to top off fuel & for lunch.

Floating docks are low & weather-beaten, but strong enough to hold 50' boats. We stayed at fuel dock on T-head while we ate lunch. Slips would be difficult to get into, with current a constant 2-4 kts, just changing direction. Lee was extremely helpful.

Restaurant on site is very very good & popular with the business crowd (has been around for 20+ years). Craft brewery (River City Brewing Company) is small & does not yet distribute outside the restaurant, but we found a couple beers we liked.

Glad we stopped, but glad we had a lot of help getting in & out.

Great Place, 2012-10-30
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL. (90)

Enjoyed our stay for FL. / Ga. Game. Everything others have said about Lee are 100% correct. Even with Hurricane Sandy moving to the east we had pretty good winds out of the ENE on Friday 10/26/12. Lee had us docked in no time as we followed his directions. Restaurant had great food and the Water Taxi's were perfect for visits to the Jacksonville Landing and getting to the Game.

Great stop for fuel - super friendly..., 2012-03-28
Captain: , Castine, ME (59117)

We needed to fill some tanks prior to heading offshore. River City was right off the St Johns River with floating docks making it really simple. Lee, dockmaster, was exceptional at handling lines and made the whole experience great. The marina looks nice and is right in the middle of the city.

Great service, knowledgable staff - and they every gave free drinks to our guests while they waited for the fueling. We'd come back here.

Our first attempt at High Current - High Wind docking, 2012-03-16
Captain: , Oviedo (306)

Fortunately the dock master came out as we were making our second approach. Got there late on a holiday, and didn't get to try the restaurant

A little old but excellent for overnight, 2012-01-19
Captain: , Apponaug, Rhode Island (274)

The marina staff helped us get in. We just spent the night - Got in late - took a shower - got up early and left. Can't really comment on activities. The marina has current and at times wind which can make docking challenge at times.

Great place for fuel, water, ice, shower, 2011-11-18
Captain: , Galveston, TX (104)

The fuel was reasonably priced. The dockmaster told me that a shower and ice are free with fuel purchase. I topped off my water tank, took a free shower and then he gave me ice bags and told me to get as much ice as I wanted out of the ice machine. They have a bar and their own micro-brew. A 2 minute comute accross the river to dock in the middle of downtown Jacksonville for free follows. It was wel worth the 25 miles up the St. Johns river to get here.
I was single handing and had to dock myself with high winds and a strong counter current but hey, that's part of sailing.

Best place to dock in JAX., 2011-03-29
Captain: , Dover, DE (50)

Great Time! Lee, the dockmaster, was born to dock boats. some folks are afraid of this marina because of the current but just get Lee on the horn and he will talk you through the entire process. If you can't get in touch, stay across the river at the free dock and keep calling until you get an answer. Doesn't take that long and it's worth it. Reasonably priced!
I was still relatively new on my big trawler (single screw, broken bowthruster) and Lee had me docking without incident!
I had to leave the boat for 5 days for work and the guys took care of my boat and fed and played with my Cat! All was pristine and in place on my return.
Ya, the docks are a little old but the views and the restaurant make up for it big time.
Happy hour up the dock with dinner specials and great staff as well as very pleasant marina residents.
Would spend a month there again in a heartbeat.
3 words: New Year's Eve....!

Poor service, 2010-11-11
Captain: , Jupiter, Fl (151)

Tried on multiple days to hail them by radio and phone, never getting an answer. Fierce current. Much better off at the free Jax landing across the ICW

Very helpful dockhand, good fuel dock, limited protection, 2010-04-12
Captain: , Sanford, FL (206)

Short staffed but very helpful. Docks are in rough shape with loose boards. No real protection in rougher conditions so you may rock quite a bit during the night. Fuel dock is new and located on the outside for easy access in strong currents. Currents can be very strong in the 3-4 mph range so its best to wait at the landing accross the river for a slack tide but staff was very friendly in helping in these conditions. Just power, water and fuel with a restaurant on site. No wifi/cable and in docks are in need of repairs.

12-21-09 trip out, 2010-02-07
Captain: , Green Cove Springs (123)

They did not have the fuel dock working at the time,

fuel dock, 2009-09-20
Captain: , ft myers beach (790)

Good dock help, be sure to rig fenders prior to getting to floating fuel dock as no protection at all on dock. Under repair but looks like long project.

Great People and location, 2009-05-15
Captain: , Boca Raton (10)

Very helpful team. Facility is coming back from storm and under some level of repair. River City Brewing is a good mid priced restaurant and bar. Ruth's Chris and Charthouse easy. Walking across the bridge to the Landing eating area is easy, as is water taxi. Night colors are beautiful.

Town Center, 2009-03-18
Captain: , Jacksonville, Fl (197)

Excellent public transport to everywhere; good weather protection; resonable rates; strong current,- advise waiting at Jax Landing until slack

Cruiser Friendly Marina, 2009-01-20
Captain: , New Rochelle, NY (1000)

This marina has its own quality restaurant and bar on premise, is a stones throw from Ruth Cris Steat House and The Chart House and is a short water taxi ride to The Jacksonville Landing a great downtown entertainment and dining center.

Helpful dock crew, 2007-04-09
